Can't run CORBA Name Service Sample Application

Hi,
I am trying to run CORBA Name Service Sample Application in tuxedo 8.0 (WinNT
version). I get following error messages in ULOG file.

Could anybody please explain about these errors?

Can you run multiple Excel Services Applications against a single Web Application?

I have been struggling with this one for a while now, hopefully someone can help me understand what I am missing...
I have a single SharePoint Farm. This farm runs multiple Web Applications & the Service Applications.
1. SharePoint Only Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://sharepoint.com/...)
2. MS Project Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://pwa.com/...)
3. My services applications all exist on the same farm.
I was under the impression, and believe that I validated this through testing and from this site (http://blogs.office.com/2009/11/16/excel-services-in-sharepoint-2010-administration-improvements),
that you can only run a single Excel Services Application against each unique Web Application. In essence, I can run one Excel Services Application against the SharePoint Only Server, and another Excel Services Application against the MS Project
Server... However, I can NOT run multiple Excel Services Applications against the different Site Collections within the MS Project Server becuase it is only aware of its "default" Excel Service Application.
ie. I can NOT do the following: ExcelServiceApp1 for
http://pwa.com/SiteA & ExcelServiceApp2 for
http://pwa.com/SiteB
Is that correct?
If that is not correct, then I must be missing a way to specify a different Excel Service App for each Project Web App Site.
Some other solutions that I think may work, but would really appreciate if someone could validate:
- Create multiple Project Server Service Applications for each instance of PWA/Excel Service? (but wouldn't this still have to use one of the two WebApplications and cause the same limitation?)
- Create a new Web Applciation for each PWA/Excel Service? (ie.
http://pwasite1.com;
http://pwasite2.com; http://pwasite3.com, etc.)
Thoughts/suggestions are very greatly appreciated!!!

I have not done what you are doing and I assume that you are using project server 2010. However, you answer lives in PowerShell.
The New-WebServiceProxy show that you can create a new proxy by spacing a URL and not a web application. The default proxy from the web application is directing to the default excel service. If you need another excel service, you must specify another
proxy and this may do it for you.
Also, don't forget the Secure State service and that each excel report will need this configured, that is with the assumption that the other excel service requires different authentication.
PS. This question may get a better answer in the SharePoint forums.

Can you use CORBA Naming Service with javax.naming.event.EventContext?
It seems like it doesn't work. When I try to do something like
EventContext eCtx_ = (EventContext)namingCtx_.lookup("");
I'm using JacORB's naming service.
I just want to clarify that I cannot or can use javax.naming.event.EventContext with CORBA Naming Service.

Can anyone tell me if it is doable or not doable.
I looked at the COSNaming SPI, and it seems like it doesn't implement javax.naming.event.EventContext.

You must have a class (code) to start each "application". To keep the environments clean from each other you can use a class loader.

Web services (sample application)

Hello,
we're trying to get the sample applications (including web services) working (using HTML DB 1.6.0.00.87).
First, we encountered "ORA-20001: The webservice was unreachable because either the URL you supplied was invalid, or your environment requires a valid proxy server address for HTTP requests.". After entering our proxy server's address, a new error occurs:
"ORA-31011: XML parsing failed ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing LPX-00104: Warning: element "HTML" is not declared in the DTD Error at line 2"
Same thing happens when trying to create a new web service reference based on the tutorial provided by Oracle: http://www.oracle.com/global/de/community/tipps/WebServices/index.html
Any ideas where our mistake lies?

I've run into the same issue. I thought it was because I was using version 1.6, so I upgraded to HTML DB 2.0 today (I am running 10.2 locally). However, I am getting the same error:
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing LPX-00104: Warning: element "html" is not declared in the DTD Error at line 2
This happens when I select the IBM UDDI from the list and search for %xMethods% as indicated in the 2-Day Developers Guide.
I get the same error when selecting the Oracle UDDI.
The XMethods UDDI goes out and searches for something, but 30 minute waits have not resulted in any return, although I have gotten "no matches found" in the past. The IBM UDDI has resulted in the same error.
I've check my proxy settings (don't have any) and tried in both IE 6 and Firefox 1.5.
When I pull the search string down to "%", then every UDDI registry search goes off and spins. In the past, I got a huge number of matches from XMethods, but couldn't start paging through for the "xMethod Delayed Stock Quotes" example in the tutorial.
I would appreciate any enlightment anyone can shed on what's happening under the covers.

Virtual Shopping Mall Sample Application using
Business Components for Java Framework.
My question occurs in the moment of
running the application using Oracle9i JDeveloper.
As described in the Install.htm after going through
all prerequisite steps :
Running the VSM web application :
Right click on the project VSMWebapp.jpr and select "Run".
This will deploy the application to embedded OC4J ,
open the default browser and present you with the main page of the application...
In my case in the moment before opening the main page,
the Error page is displayed (shown in the bottom).
Can somebody help me for resolving this?

Can LabVIEW run as a service on WinNT kernels [without a user logon]?

Is it possible to run LabVIEW as a service on a WinNT kernel [NT 4.0, 2000, or 2003]?
I.e. is it possible to run LabVIEW without a user logging on?
Or must there always be a user logged on before LabVIEW can be run?
Also, if standard-issue National Instruments LabVIEW cannot run as a service, then are there any third party products [maybe from Endevo, or Vogel Automatisierungstechnik] that have the ability to create something like a "LabVIEW-lite" that can run as a service [without a user logon]?

LabVIEW code can run within a service, but LV does not support being built as a service.
What is the difference? An NT Service requires a special exported API and integration with the NT Service Manager. We do not build that kind of EXE, just the regular EXE. However, you can build your LV application into a DLL and then load that up from your own service host EXE.
However, there are a couple of gotcha's that happen when running as a service. First remember that you cannot have any UI - so if any of your VI's attempt to open their front panel, you are going to be in trouble. Second, there is an issue with pumping Windows messages in LV right now. See my blog article on ASP.NET and LV (which is LV running in a service - the aspnet_wp.exe service). My blog link is in my signature.
Also remember that while a service doesn't need a user to log in, it itself is going to log into Windows to get the security credentials. You'll need to think about what credentials you want the application running under when you configure the NT service. Remember, Local System, which is the default, means that you have super user priv. on the local machine, but no NT Network permissions. It is generally a good idea to create an NT Workgroup or Domain account specifically for the service so that you can control what permissions it has.
Other Platforms
===============
Linux and Solaris daemons are a bit more straightforward and so, I think, both the EXE and DLL should work. However, I haven't done daemon work in over 10 years so I won't promise anything
I have never worked on a Mac so I have no idea. But X is really a Unix OS so I imagine it would be the same as Linux. However, for all platforms supported by LV, building into a library and then calling the library from the OS's service host *should* work. Just the same rules about the UI.

Can't run any Apple and system applications

Hi, all.
I need some help with my Snow Leopard install.
Have upgraded to Snow Leopard, haven't had any issues for a week or so. When updated some applications (third party), kept having to delete the old one to be able to copy the new version into the Applications folder.
Searched in Discussions and found this thread:

After implementing these Terminal commands, I rebooted, and am now in serious trouble.
No system applications will start. This means System Preferences won't start, Console won't start, Mail.app, Safari, anything. The iWork apps and iPhoto seem to work. Everything else seems to work - Firefox will run, tried a couple of other ones and they'll start.
I can't run Terminal, either.
I can't run Disk Utility to fix permissions, but managed to run Drive Genius, which reported errors on several apps, such as
"Group differs on "Applications/iChat.app/Contents/Resources/myvc-audio-multiover.tif", should be 0, group is 80
Permissions differ on "Applications/iChat.app/Contents/Resources/myvc-audio-multiover.tif", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are -rwxrwxr-x "

I don't have access to my Snow Leopard disc just now, as I am travelling. Is there a way I can fix this without the install disc (or doing Archive & Install).

2- which account are you using to log on?
Whatever you changed, it was not for the user that is logged in now.
Try logging in as admin. One thing I can tell is, that despite the message in the thread you linked, it is not restoring the defaults but rather flattening the file access to the directory.

How can I run an applet from an application (frame)?

I have an application (frame) that render images and save it, and then I want to create an animation with those images using Animator applet from the application itself, but I do not how to call the applet from the application, is this possible?

You can simply run a JApplet in a JFrame. Just create a frame object, an object of your applet, add the applet to the frame and call the init() function of your applet. It could look like this:

anyFrame.getContentPane().add(yourApplet, BorderLayout.CENTER);
yourApplet.init();
anyFrame.setSize(new Dimension(800,600));

You will not necessarily have to write the applets default constructor.

Can you run an XPC service inside a plugin? (e.g. a Print Dialog Extension plugin)

I am creating a Print Dialog Extension (PDE) plugin. This plugin is called and displayed when a user Prints from different apps, e.g. TextEdit, Preview, Xcode, etc. Note that the plugin runs on top of the app that called the Print Plugin (for example, TextEdit).
Inside the plugin, I need to run an XPC service. I need an XPC service since the entitlements on the main app might not be sufficient for my needs, e.g. I need to connect to the network, and TextEdit does not have the required entitlements for network connection.
The problem is, I can't create an XPC connection. The handler always fire with XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INVALID.
1.) Is this because the PDE Plugin is not inside the main bundle/main app, e.g. Text Edit?
2.) If yes, how can I still run an XPC service within a PDE Plugin?
3.) If no, then why can't I successfully create an XPC connection?

How can I run a script when an application quit??

I'm trying to write a script, which can be triggered automatically (to do some stuff) at the time when a given application quit. I was playing around with this test script, taking "TextEdit" as an example - it just prints a message when TextEdit exits.

Currently We are using form 5 and reports 3.5
we are willing to upgrade .
we are told that we can upgrade only to 10g developer suit
and for that Application Server is must
Our requirement is for LAN based application only
Do we have to go-in for application Server
DOes the 10g forms and 10g reports have Form server /report server which can help us to run application using Browser but without IAS

for production environments you must run Forms and Reports through Oracle Application Server as there no longer is a client-server runtime. For development puposes tehre is a HTTP server in Oracle Developer Suite that is used to run both servers.

Unfortunately by central admin UI you cannot change a web application name.
So there are two ways to do this
First as suggested above you have to delete web app and recreate again.
2nd one you can use powershell script to modify webapp name as below
$a=Get-SPWebApplication | where {$_.Name -match "Old web app name"}
$a.Name
$a.Name="New web app name"
$a.Update()
Get-SPWebApplication | where {$_.Name -match "New web app name"}
