Can't run Solaris OVF on Virtual Box 3.2

I just installed Virtual Box 3.2 on Windows 7 64-bit and I wanted to use the Solaris OVF (downloaded from the site). I imported the ovf file to the VB, using the default setting except the memory (changed from 768 to 1024). After it's done, it just wont start. it boots up then it gives an error:
syncing file system 1 done (sometimes it's 2 done, or 1 1 done)
then it dumps the kernel, then reboots. it does this over and over. i can boot it up in single-user mode.
are they just not compatible or something?

I'm able to run JSF 2.1 on Tomcat 7 without error, so it's something specific to your environment or application. Looking at the stack trace, I see several instances of "java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError", which suggests the code is being loaded by a VM with a different Java-compliance level than the VM that compiled the code. You might want to look at your VM settings for the project and the runtime configuration for the server. There may be more issues, but first I would rule that out.

  • How to install SUNWi1cs in Solaris 10 under Virtual Box

Hallo!I am a total newbie in Solaris.
I have installed Solaris 10 (guest OS)via Virtual Box in XP (host OS).I would like to install Oracle 10g in Solaris 10 but prerequisite s/w like SUNWi1cs and SUNWi15cs aren’t installed.
I have been trying to install this through commands such as
    pkgadd –d /cdrom/cdrom0/Solaris_10/Product SUNWi1cs SUNWi15cs
but this directory does not exist.
How would I access this directory ?Will this mean mounting the CD-ROM with a Solaris 10 DVD-R disc or can I access the Solaris 10 virtual box files in the XP path shown below
    C:\Documents and Settings\JOEY\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning\SOLARIS_10\PRODUCT
The Oracle 10g for Solaris zipped file is in the XP OS.How do I transfer this file (and any other files in XP)into Solaris 10 to be able to install Oracle 10g in Solaris under Virtualbox?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If u have installed Solaris operating system on some VMWare by iso file then it will treat iso file as CD. So that following steps will resolve ur issue.
    1. Mount that iso file into /mnt file system.
For example ur iso mounted file system like this:-
    /mnt/cdrom/Solaris_10/Product
    2. Then run this command:-
    pkgadd -d /mnt/Solaris_10/Product SUNWi1cs SUNWi512
It will ask would to like to add these then type Y
    3. Successful installed package message will displayed.
It is the right way to add package from source

  • Can I run Solaris 10 with a Radeon 9550?

    Hi!
I would like to install Solaris 10 on my x86, but I'm not sure if my Radeon 9550 is supported. The driver download center at ATi has only Windows and Linux. Does the Linux driver work? Or better, has Solaris 10 integrated support for this graphics board?
    Thanks.

    Solaris 10 x86 includes:
    1. a radeon driver from Sun, for Xsun
    2. the radeon driver from X.org, to be used with Sun's Xsun X11
    server
    3. a VESA driver frlom X.org, for Xsun
    4. the complete X.org X11 server, including X.org's radeon driver
    5. X.org with VESA
I don't know if your specific model of the Radeon 9550 will be
recognized without problem, but with five drivers to choose from
I'd say chances are quite good that it works.

  • Minimize and maximize Solaris 10 installed on VM virtual Box.

How can I minimize and maximize Solaris 10 installed on VM virtual Box.
    Thanks
    Paulo

Solaris is working just fine. Everything is ok. now since I open Solaris via VM Virtual box, the Solaris main page fills only half of the monitor. I can minimize/maximize the Virtual Box. But Solaris dimensions are fix and doesn't change. This leaves me a little room to open applications on Solaris. I had the same problems with my Ubuntu, by installing adds-on it was fixed. For Solaris I installed “Guest additions”, didn’t help.

  • SharePoint on virtual Box

    Hello Friends
I have a question.  can I install SharePoint 2013 on virtual box which has windows server 2012?
The virtual box is sitting on a laptop which has only 8 gb of Ram and 500 gb hard disk space.
Can I install SharePoint 2013, SQL server and Visual studio on this virtual box which has Windows server 2012?
I really appreciate your help and suggestions.

You can but its going to be super duper slow. Because if you are installing Visual studio you are going to build SharePoint solutions and of course debugging them... Moreover if you start adding more and more SP services its going to be more slower. Its
    kind painful with such configuration.
double RAM then it should be OK 32 GB RAM would be ideal. check following MS link.

I have a G4 iMac with a 1.25 Ghz Processor, about 768MB of ram, just under 1Gig....is it possible to run Windows XP if I used something like Virtual PC? I am interested in getting a Real Estate license, but I need Windows and IE explorer to run the MLS (real estate) system. I don't want to buy a PC just to use Internet Exploder Help?

You can only run it by using Virtual PC from Microsoft.

Can I set Arch on a Virtual Box (convinent to have the wiki handy) then move it to my real PC? Will it work (virtual hardware vs real ones)? If so how do I proceed? On Ubuntu, theres RemasterSys which is for this purpose but has its faults. How do I achieve this anyways on Arch?

    When I do grub-install I don't use boot-directory.
I just use grub-install /dev/sda, unless I have a FreeBSD loader, which then I use /dev/sdax.  Your menu.lst will pick up the kernels in /dev/sda5 with:

  • Run solaris 11 on 32 bit oracle VM virtual Box  (windows)

    Hi All,
Is there any way to run Solaris 11 (64bit only), on a 32 bit windows machine using oracle VM virtual Box ?
    Thanks

Excerpt VirtualBox "Hardware vs. software virtualization",
    https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch10.html#hwvirt
"VirtualBox's 64-bit guest support (added with version 2.0) and multiprocessing (SMP, added with version 3.0) both require hardware virtualization to be enabled. (This is not much of a limitation since the vast majority of today's 64-bit and multicore CPUs ship with hardware virtualization anyway; the exceptions to this rule are e.g. older Intel Celeron and AMD Opteron CPUs.)
You cannot nest HV on HV.
You can nest PV on PV,

  • Can the IPad run Oracle's Virtual Box?

There is a programme from my old Windows set up that I can't get for my iMac, so I run Oracle's Virtual Box that allows for a Windows environment to run on my Mac. So, I'm interested in whether an iPad can do the same thing. Can anyone help, please?

You cannot run the virtual machine directly on the iPad but you should be able to connect to the desktop of a virtual machine using one of the remote desktop connection apps.

  • How can i compile a C program to run solaris 9 and 10?

    Hi,
I need to compile a small C program to run on solaris 9 and 10. There is no C compiler on the target servers. I have compiled and tested the program on Linux over x86.
I hope you can advise on the way forward. I see the following options:
    - install a C compiler, the lightest possible, on the target servers and compile the program
    or
    - set-up a sparc solaris (9 or 10) on top of virtualbox on my windows laptop, install the c compiler and then compile the program
    Thanks in advance.
    Gaby

To run an application on both Solaris 9 and 10, you need to build it on Solaris 9. The application will then run on Solaris 9 and 10. (If you build on Solaris 10, you cannot expect the application to work on 9.)
The most recent Studio version that can be run on Solaris 9 is Studio 12 (but not updates 1, 2, or 3).
You can still get Studio 12 here, but since it dates from 2007, I don't know for how much longer.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solarisstudio/downloads/ss12-136026.html
Studio does not do cross-compilation, so you need to build on a system of the same type as the target system -- SPARC or x86. I don't know whether Solaris 9 can be installed on Virtual Box, but you can try. If it works, you can install the compiler, build on that system, then deploy on other Solaris 9 and 10 x86 systems.
You can of course build the application on each of Solaris 9 and 10, but usually that is not necessary, and it complicates deployment and support.
I believe Solaris 9 is End Of Life, so it would be a good idea to upgrade S9 systems to S10 or S11. I realize that such a change might not be up to you. :-)

The Host Key should be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the VirtualBox machine's window. A pop-up message will also appear when you first start up the virtual machine, explaining that you will need the host key to escape out.
