Can't send email. Can't open drafts, sent, or any folders
when I try to send email, a red circle with a red line through it appears. I can't open any other files, such as drafts, sent, etc.
Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

Can't open drafts, sent, trash, or delivered mailboxes.
When I open mail, I can open and see new mail and send but when I try to access any of the other boxes (drafts, sent, or trash) I just get the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I have to force quit to close email as well. When I take the apple.mail.plist out of the preferences, I lose all of my existing emails so that is not a fix. Thanks
How many accounts do you have and what type are they (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
From the Window menu in Mail, open Activity Viewer to see what is Mail doing when it freezes. BTW, you can try canceling whatever it's doing by clicking on the red stop icon for the activity. It may take a few minutes for Mail to actually cancel the operation, but it's much better for your data than forcing quit Mail (if it works, that is).
Also, try this:
1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
2. From the File menu, choose either Open Console Log, or Open System Log, or both, so that the Console application displays the contents of both system.log and console.log.
3. Look at the bottom of the Console windows for messages that could be written there when Mail freezes. Do they provide any clues as to what the problem could be? -
Illustrator CC 2014 can't open files sent from Draw.
Illustrator CC 2014 v18.0.0 (just installed today, 11/6/2014): I can't open files sent from Adobe Draw. The files send from Draw OK, but in Illustrator—which finally opens as advertised—I get an error message, i.e. The file "Dog - Drawing 1.draw" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened. This goes for all of my work, whether created in Ideas then opened recently in Draw, or files created in Draw from scratch.
Illustrator files (.ai or .pdf) that I save using CC 2014 vs 8.1.0 on my Windows (8.1) machine on our network server. I try to open them on Mac.
'The File "x.pdf" is an unknown format and cannot be opened'
This may in some way be related to accessing the file over the server since when I transfer the file to my lcal drive I don't get the same error. I still can't open the file but I get an error near the end of the opening process :
"Could not read the file because the plug-in made an invalid request of the Photoshop adaptor"
Again, I can open this file using CC 2014 vs 8.1.0 on my Windows (8.1) machine. -
when I open the settings and messages of the iPhone 4s I get stuck in a white screen, what should I do? the keyboard to open there is minute, I can not open the settings in any way.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

thanksReinstall 10.6 again, but this time hold c boot off the 10.6 and erase the ENTIRE internal drive.
You do this by selecting the drive makers name and size on the left hand side, not the slightly indented partition underneath it.
If you erase and install 10.6 only into a parittion, say Macintosh HD, the you still have the hidden Lion Recovery Partition on the drive and it appears you already have 10.7
In the MAS, hold option and click Purchases to redownload Lion
FYI, you don't need to install 10.6 to reinstall 10.7, 10.7 can be reinstalled via the Lion Recovery, Command r boot.

i can't open "special characters" in any Edit pull down menu. i have a constantly flashing empty window labelled 'characters' that i haven't been able to stop.
it appears every time i click on anything. any suggestions? tru thanxI, too, have found Bridge very unstable. I find this to be extremely disappointing, seeing as it's literally the most expensive piece of software I've ever purchased for personal use. I've seen these two symptoms:
1. When running in full screen mode, Bridge crashes periodically. This happened on Vista, so I blamed Vista (of course), but even after regressing to XP SP2, I see the same symptoms.
2. Although I didn't see this on Vista, running on XP I see the problem described earlier in this thread, where clicking on a thumbnail displays the wrong image preview. When this happens the image displayed is one from a different folder! I solve the problem by clearing the cache, and it's OK for a while, but the problem keeps returning.
3. Even when exiting cleanly from Bridge (using File->Exit), Bridge often forgets where I was working in my previous session. I need to re-navigate from the very top level directory down through the hierarchy to my photo directory.
Again, it's very disappointing to invest so much in a single software package only to see such basic operations malfunction. -
I've got a iPod classic 80g I've got loads of pictures on there and I want to get them off. I've tried something where the files I get off come up as thumbnails which I can't open. Is there any way of getting them off and viewing them as a normal photo?

When I download word docs my MacBook is adding the flv extension onto the doc extension and I can't open the doc. Any ideas?
Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
It looks like this:
check the button for manual updates.
That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update. -
I cannot see my email DRAFT, SENT, or TRASH folders
I've set up a POP email account on my iPad. Mail is sent and received fine, but I do not see the DRAFT, SENT, or TRASH folders. They appear only when I choose MOVE a file, but are not really accessible.
Tap account name at top left until you see Inboxes (with teh email boxes) them scroll down to see Accounts.
Select the Account you want to see DRAFT, SENT, or TRASH. -

The temp folders are empty. This is a new install.
This is very odd. I have a new install of Win 7 with Outlook 2010 and I can't open a zip file attached to an email in a public folder. It is not isolated to a single zip file, machine or user either. I can open .pdf, xls, .txt and others OK.
Ideas?

Is there a compatability issue with Microsoft Word 2004 and Snow Leopard or is it G-Mail? I am using Safari with a G-mail account.
Will upgrading to 2011 correct my issue that I can not open a pdf or word doc in G-mail or could it be a g-mail setting? I can open these docs outside of G-mail, but I am also having issues sending them without the docs becoming slightly modified enroute.

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I would be concerned as well if I wasn't able to view the images that were sent to me in Messages. I found some steps that might help with this:
If you still can't send or receive MMS messages
To send and receive MMS messages on your iPhone, verify that your wireless carrier supports MMS2.
Ensure that MMS Messaging is turned on in Settings > Messages.
Verify that your phone is able to access cellular data.
Some carriers allow you to edit your APN (Access Point Name), which may prevent MMS from working.
If you are roaming outside your calling area, make sure you have Data Roaming turned on in Settings > General > Cellular to send or receive MMS content.
While on a phone call, you will be unable to send or receive MMS messages when using an EDGE, GPRS, or any CDMA cellular data network. After the phone call ends, you will receive any incoming messages. If you tried to send an MMS message, you may need to send it again.
If the issue persists and your wireless carrier has confirmed that your wireless account is provisioned2 for MMS, restore the iPhone.
