Can't stop the submit

Question

I have created a Visual Web Application using Netbeans 5.5. This creates jsp files using the "webuijsf:" tag library.
My page has a button that on click calls a javascript function that sets a bunch of check boxes to true, a select all function.
Like this onClick="selectAll(); return false;"
The problem is that button still submits the page. I just want it to run the javascript.
Any ideas?

Sorry:
My problem is not the same,
I posted the problem on a different watch and it is that the button is alway submitted after deployment
before I click the button.
This is a minimal tested code.
