Can't update firmware on iPad 3rd Gen (GSM) 6.0.1

I received an iPad 3rd gen (gsm) for my birthday from my sister in law, who works at Apple (this will come into play). The firmware is 6.0.1 and I am unable to update to the latest firmware. I have tried using iTunes and OTA and i get the generic error "Not eligible for this build." (device is not jailbroken)
I have used four different cables and three different computers (the ota issue kind of makes this a redundant check but I tried just to be safe)
I have deleted and redownloaded the firmware via Apple/iTunes and even finding the update and trying to manually update or restore via the ispw file.
I have also tried the hosts file method (adding a # before the apple line and also deleting the line completely and every other combination of adding lines and such).
I am able to restore on the device itself and that does not change my outcome when I try to update. What I think might be the issue (that I found out today) is that the iPad used to have a "Development" sticker on it. When I try to enter in the serial number into the support page it says the serial number does not exist. I have no idea where to go from here.
Any suggestions? (unfortunately I live an hour and half from an apple store and I'd like to try and fix it myself first)

She has no idea on what to do as she isnt a developer (I'm not going to disclose her exact position).
I've tried to reset the content and settings and it restores it to factory default but it unfortunately still gives me the error. I'm going to try and install a beta version of ios 8 (thats still signed by apple) and see if that may work.
I'm debating on bring it into the apple store or not as that may be my only option.

Following ultimately helped me : Make sure that you are logged in at the App Store App or iTunes App with your apple ID and password with a US account. Turn your iPad off and on and than you should see the Radio button again. It won't work if you are logged on with a foreign account. If you are not logged in at all, it worked, too.

Can't update my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by iTunes

I have dowloaded the last version of iTunes and I've iOS 4.2.1 on my iPod, but iTunes says it's the current version.
I know the last one is 4.3.3.
I'm using Windows XP.

You have a 2G iPod. Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods. When the 3G iPods were introduced, the 8GB 2G iPods were continued to be sold with the same updated iOS as the 3G ipods. It is a common error to think that users purchased a 8GB 3G ipod. Sorry.

So I have my 3rd gen iPod touch and i have tried to update it several times with errors telling me that iTunes timed out or with the 3091 error code (i think its the 3091 its the highest error code with 3000) and i have redownloaded itunes rebooted my computer used a different computer and i cant get it to update/ or even restore is there another way to get it to restore? When trying to update firmware on nano 3rd gen i get error -23

What is error -23 i can't seam to find anything about this... its really anoying as my ipod wont update firmware or restore... have tried deleting itunes and reinstalling etc.. even attempted on a different pc without itunes installed, IE installed itunes but still same error when trying to update to new firmware.... could someone please help me with this anoying issue.

I just tried redownloading from itunes and installing and I got a messages saying installation was successful, but then right after that I got the following error message: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 127)

Well, that's all I know, the WiFi update on my iPad 3rd Gen 16 GB + Cell keeps failing and telling me to retry, any way to solve this issue?

All I can suggest is to continue to try (from time to time). I updated mine, but I did it late last night when the traffic was much lighter.

I bought an apple tv for its ability to mirror any of the content on my new ipad 3rd gen. Now after updating my apple tv i seem to have lost the ability to mirror my tablet onto the screen. Can somebody help with this. I have tried to do everything. I made sure both my apple tv and my ipad are connected to the same network. I also made shure my bluetooth was off. I can still airplay with my brothers iphone 4s. ( ios5.1) but i cannot do the same with my tablet.

You must be a newbie, because otherwise you would have fixed it. I don't have that mirroring problem and it must be because you are not looking around and inform yourself thoroughly. It took me also 2 days of grief before I found out how to do it. Not even to mention that the Apple Engineer that I called did not have a solution either and just suggested that I should send my Apple TV back or go to a Apple Store nearby.
I was pretty annoyed about that such a little black box was giving me grief. I have been working in the IT industry for over 30 years and I know quite a bit inside out about many hardware's. But my opinion is that sending out Version 6.0 Aka 5.1 as you rightfully say is not on with me.
This is the same behaviour that Apple now does as Microsoft forever is doing. Not finishing the products and putting it on the market or release it before it is finished and has bugs in it.
Personally this irks me and annoys me. Because I am in that field for many years and have seen what grief it causes. I have noticed that an Administrator has removed another post that I made about other matters concerning iPads and especially with iPad 3 and 4 now and that there are also other people who make inflamatory remarks to people ( Julian Wright for e.g.) about how they have to spend their money for the latest stuff of Apple and come over very aggressive, selfish, if not evil.
For your information, I used to work for Apple, I know Apple inside and how they work and what they used to do ? They were really nice for their employees and customers. But I think that has changed now for whatever reason they have. Very disappointing. It's up to Apple not to listen, I have no control of that, but it will cost them at some point.
Besides that point, I feel that some people are been taken for a ride and when I am expressing that this is not OK I should be rewarded for that instead of being rejected.

AAfter an hour with Apple chat, I figured out what to do on my own. When the iPhone and iPad go to autolock, press home key and do not open- streaming will be on the screen and I turned it back on. No more stops.

IPad 3rd gen will not update apps

App Store on iPad 3rd gen shows several apps needing updating. Updating requests P/W for Apple ID and then states that it cannot connect to the iTunes Store. I am connected to the store. I can also download new apps. Any idea on how to fix the problem. Thanks!

We owned all the apps and used them on an iphone 4s. They were added to the new iPad. About 8 apps showed updates, and the "can't connect" warning showed. The same Apple ID applies to all the apps on both devices.

I am having same issue on my iPhone 5s. Whenever i am trying login to iCloud from my device setting it's asking for apple id password & every time showing incorrect password verification failed but in fact the password is correct.
When trying to restore my iPhone from my PC iTunes backup it's asking to turn off Find my iPhone from the device iCloud setting. When i am going to turn it off from device iCloud setting it's asking for apple id password then a notification showing "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out.
I never faced this on any other iOS version other than iOS 8/8.0.2

Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider. Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

An iPad and iPhone cannot connect via Bluetooth unless you are trying to use a Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone or have one of the few third-party apps that allow limited file transfer or device-to-device gaming. Unless you're attempting one of these, then any previous "pairing" was probably illusory. If you are trying to use such a thing, tell us which one and someone may be able to provide suggestions.

Do you clean your iPad screen? Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended. There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

Can Apple offer cheap upgrade plans to people who bought iPad 3rd Gen within 3 months to upgrade their device to the 4th gen?!

I decided to get iPad 3rd gen because my iPad 2 wasn't working so well after using it for 1+ year and I really need iPads for work. I got it not more than 2 months ago. I felt being cheated. Although Apple didn't promise the one year thing, but 7 months is just too ridiculous. .
I know it is impossible to ask Apple to replace our 3rd gen with 4th gen, but if they offer some upgrade plans, I would be more comfortable with this. If so, I hope that they wouldn't charge more than USD $150 to upgrade.

You can check macrumors, there were rumors and they were pretty much squashed the begininng of October, so waiting a month, sure. Usually mac is transpereant enough that its knwn 3-4 months ahead of time that a refresh is coming, I site the release of th Ipad 2 gen i was getting for my daughter, we waited until her bday and got it in March at launch. Not this time. This was a curve ball, ezpecially 4 months ago when I bought mine. Hi thanks for the encouragement. It's not that the severs are "swamped", iOS 7 has been successfully installed.
I can't access the apps list in iTunes because it *****
down. Its pretty frustrating because many of my apps require me to manually transfer files into iTunes first to view
them. Not sure if the servers being swamped is an issue for me, unless they release a bug fix through another version of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this problem? My iPad is pretty useless unless I can access my app list in iTunes....
