  • Java Connectivity - No classes appearing in the Java Beans Classes dropdown

    Hi,
    VERY NEW user to Crystal Reports.  I am trying to create a report using a java class as a datasource.  I have updated the setting in the CRConfig.xml file, and can get the Java Beans Connectivity screen to appear, but is shows none of my classes in the dropdown.  I found a knowlege base entry that indicated this problem was caused by the JavaBeansClassPath value in the CRConfig.xml file being invalid.  But I've verified the location and it is pathed directly to the classes.
    Not sure what I am missing, but any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Ted,
    Thanks for the reply.  I checked out each of your suggestions, but haven't had any luck thus far.  Here's what I found:
    1.  We created a simple method in an existing public class to return a ResultSet.  The method looks like this:
    public ResultSet GetAllMediaTypesRS()
          String strFuncName = "ScsXDMDatabase::GetAllMediaTypesRS : ";
          ScsDebug coutDebug = new ScsDebug();
          String strSqlStmt;
          String strMediaType;
          ScsStringList sslReturnList = new ScsStringList();
          // Create the SQL to get all the Displayable Media Types.
          strSqlStmt =
             "SELECT DISTINCT mt.Media_Type_Name "
                + "FROM dbo.Media_Type mt "
                + "WHERE mt.Media_Type_Rqst_Display_Ind = 1 "
                + "ORDER BY mt.Media_Type_Name";
          coutDebug.println(strFuncName + "SQL Statement:  " + strSqlStmt);
          // Run the Query
          Statement stmt = null;
          ResultSet SQLResult = null;
          try
             stmt = GetConnection().createStatement();
             SQLResult = stmt.executeQuery(strSqlStmt);
          } //End of Try
          catch (SQLException sqle)
             if (sqle.getErrorCode() != 0)
                coutDebug.println(
                   "Error in ExecuteQuery: "
                      + "Error code - "
                      + sqle.getErrorCode());
                coutDebug.println("Message - " + sqle.getMessage());
          return SQLResult;
    The signature, and the method look fine to us, but maybe we are missing something obvious.
    2. We do use JDK 1.5 to compile the classes, but my JavaDir setting in the CRConfig.xml file points to jre1.6.0_02.  I assume this is OK.
    3. We do see java.exe start up when opening the JavaBeans connection.
    4. No firewall issues as we are inside our corporate network.
    Any other thoughts or ideas?  I did see a knowledge base entry that indicated the cause of this particular problem is that the JavaBeansClassPath in CRConfig.xml is incorrect or invalid.  I've validated the path takes me right to the classes, so I believe that is OK.  Is there some way that we can see the actual path that is searched when the JavaBeans connection is opened?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi, I have quick question about use of USEBEAN tag in SP2. When I specify a scope of SESSION for the java bean, it does not keep the values that I set for variable in the bean persistent.Thanks,Sonny

    Make sure that your bean is implementing the serializable interface and that
    you are accessing the bean from the session with the same name.

    Hello,
    If you execute your Reports as a JSP page : URL like http://server:port/reports/myreports.jsp?param1=...
    the output will be in HTML
    If you execute your Reports using the Reports Servlet : URL like hhp://server:port/reports/rwservlet?report=myreports.jsp&param1=...

  • Help required in building up the Java Bean for an XML data

    Hi ,
    I want to build a Java bean which will actually represent an xml data . The class will be named as User and it will typically represent the data in the follwing xml:
    <user>
    <cwsId>barbete</cwsId>
    <firstName>William</firstName>
    <lastName>Barber</lastName>
    <status>true</status>
    <role>
    <roleCode>1000000177</roleCode>
    <roleName>Customer Administrator</roleName>
    </role>
    <language>en</language>
    <country>US</country>
    <preferences>
    <equipmentGroup>2717</equipmentGroup>
    <dateFormat>MON-dd-yyyy</dateFormat>
    <timeFormat>HH:MI AM</timeFormat>
    <timeZone>-12:00</timeZone>
    <daylightSavings>Y</daylightSavings>
    <location>NC</location>
    <recordsPerPage>10</recordsPerPage>
    <historyPeriod>3</historyPeriod>
    <distanceUnit>MILE</distanceUnit>
    <fuelUnit>G</fuelUnit>
    <unitIdDisplay>E</unitIdDisplay>
    <smuUpdate>W</smuUpdate>
    <countries>
    <country>
    <countryCode>GB</countryCode>
    <countryName>UNITED KINGDOM</countryName>
    </country>
    <country>
    <countryCode>US</countryCode>
    <countryName>UNITED STATES</countryName>
    </country></countries>
    </preferences>
    </user>
    Now for single child nodes like cwsId of the main user node i have kept properties like
    private String cwsId;
    But i am not sure as to how to represent the nodes which contain subnodes like "preferences"node. Any ideas?What is the standard practice?

    One thing you could do is create an object model first, which will contain all the data for your user.
    then all you need in the bean is a Hashtable with the name of the user as a key, and the user-object (which is actually the complete object model) as a value.
    with the XML stated by you, you would get an object model something like this:
    Class User
        String cwsid;
        String firstName;
        ArrayList<Role> roles = new ArrayList<Role>(); //I'm assuming a user can have more then one role.
        ArrayList<Country> countries = new ArrayList<Country>();
    class Role {
        String code;
        String name;
    class Country {
        String code;
        String name;
    }And so on for all the varioous elemets of your XML.

  • Problem in moving the java beans code from computer to other

    Hi,
    I am working on building a webservice. I started building the EJB teir compnents like (Entity beans, Sessions beans, data base schemas) using the SUN ONE STUDIO 5 and SUN ONE App Server 7.0.
    The problem, if I want to move the same entity beans code from one computer to other computer.
    I am using same platform except the operating system (XP, and Windows 2000), apart from this every thing is same (Sun one studio 5, sun one app server 7.0). The Entity beans are working on the source computer and tested the beans. But When I moved the code to other computer, I compiled the entity beans code and it compiled perfectly. Then I tested the entity bean, I generated the test client, and deployed it. Till now no problem. When I tried to excute it and invoke the functions then it giving the following error:
    Is there any solution, so that I can avoid coding from scrath again when I want to use same on other computer.

    There appears to be either a portion that didn't get recompiled, or perhaps a hard-coded GUID-type number within the application. Carefully go over the elements in the application that were hard-coded to run on the other machine -- were they have all been migrated?

    thanks for your helps

    Hello,
    I did not see any error mentioned in your initial post...
    So, what is the error ?
    If the jar file is not in your registry, you could have the design time error (bean not found), but is the bean runs ok at runtime ?

  • Problems Securing Web.show_document  using the java bean

    Friends,
    I know this is a hot topic, but after reading through a lot of the previous posts I can not find any reference to the problem I am encountering.
    I am using Forms 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
    Basically I have implemented the bean as the white paper instructs but when the report is first run I am presented with a Oracle Reports screen that has the title
    Database User Authentication, followed by fields to enter the username, password and database
    Below the submit and cancel buttons there is the following message "REP-51018: Need database user authentication"
    Once these details are entered the report runs ok and if the report is run again then this logon screen is NOT shown.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
    Regards

    Hi,
    you describe the problem, but you don't provide any help for this forum to help you. What is the debug output of the Jinitiator console? Note that the bean uses JSObject class that doesn't work with newer versions of Netscape, so are you using Netscape? What is the machine address ? Is the machine with a domain name, or is it local host or IP in which case setting the cookie can be failed

  • Not retrieving from the Java bean

    Sir,
    I have this code
    try{
                     connect conn=new connect();
                     con=conn.createConnection();
                     String pattern="Noun Verb Noun";
                     String[] arPat=pattern.split(" ");
                     System.out.println("Len : "+arPat.length);
                     for(int i=0;i<arPat.length;i++)
                         sql="Select category_id from m_word_category where category_name='"+arPat[i]+"'";
                         System.out.println("SQL : "+sql);
                         Statement stmt=con.createStatement();
                         rs=stmt.executeQuery(sql);
                         rs.next();
                         int g_id=rs.getInt(1);
                         sql1="Select word_text from m_word_list where category_id="+g_id;
                         System.out.println("SQL1 : "+sql1);
                         ArrayList holdWords=new ArrayList();
                         Statement stmt1=con.createStatement();
                         rs1=stmt1.executeQuery(sql1);
                         while(rs1.next())
                            holdWords.add(rs1.getString("word_text"));
                         System.out.println("Actual Sentences : "+holdWords);
                         int rand=0;
                         while(true)
                            rand=(int)(Math.random()*100);
                            if(rand>holdWords.size())
                                continue;
                            else
                                dWord+=holdWords.get(rand);
                                System.out.println("Actual words : "+dWord);
                                break;
                     GenerateUrlBean  sp = (GenerateUrlBean)form;
                      sp.seturl(dWord);
                      System.out.println("The generated Url is:"+sp.geturl());
                    return mapping.findForward("success");
                catch(Exception e)
                    System.out.println("The Exception is:"+e);
                    return mapping.findForward("failure");
    On another page I tried to retrieve the data 'dWord' which i set in the bean
    The code I used in the second page was:
       <jsp:useBean id="urlBean" scope="page" class="examples.simple.GenerateUrlBean" />
    <jsp:setProperty name="urlBean"  property="url" />
    <tr>
                <td>
                    <%
                        out.println("The URL: "+urlBean.geturl());
                    %>
                </td>
            </tr>But the output it shows was:
    The URL:
    which seems its not retrieving anything,
    Please help
    Thank you

    > Is it a dead thread?
    Relax.
    Okay, so you create a GenerateUrlBean in your JSP and call the getUrl() method. When does the value that getUrl() is supposed return get set?
