Can two programs share a task?

I have a program that continously writes to a PCI-6711 card for analog output.  Well, i periodically poll the card to know when there is enough buffer space to write more data.  Unfortunately, this seems to take more cpu than i would like, therefore, i have looked into making an activeX object to run in it's own process space to do the polling for me and raise an event when it is time to write more data.   Unfortunately, when i pass the task number to the ActiveX object all i ever get is the DAQmx error 200088, which i believe says that it is an invalid task.   Is it possible to share a task between two different programs?  I have heard that you can configure a task with Measurement studio and then call LoadTask or something like that, but i was hoping to do this all via code.

Gerry

  • Can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  Yes, there is more to the story.

I have an iMac, and iPhone.  I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password.  I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID.  When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

  • Can two people share an icloud account keeping their info separate

can two people share an icloud account keeping their info separate

No: iCloud is intended for use by one person to keep their Macs and devices in sync. Anyone signed into the account has access to all its data. Separate people should have separated iCloud accounts, and separate user accounts on their Mac(s).

  • Can two MacBooks share a printer via just a usb hub?

can two MacBooks share a printer via just a usb hub?
    thanks!

    any other suggestions?
Do the same thing your doing to get each computer on the Internet, one takes turns connecting the cable.
If you want both computers on the Internet and printing at the same time, that's what a router is for.
Just sub one of the PC's above for a printer and you see the idea how it all works.
A Airport Express is Mac friendly method, but if you have computers that have no wireless capability then you will need a Airport Extreme for the Ethernet outports.
You can also buy a third party router from the PC store, that works too, but it's a bit more complicated and you have to install your own firmware updates manually, no Airport Utility to do it for you. But you save money.
The important thing is setting up the router securely, WPA and WEP are both cracked. New Mac's don't even support WEP encrypted because it's worthless and false security.
    What you want is:
WPA(AES) Personal with two passwords, each 20+ random letter, number, symbol characters in length. One password is used for Internet access only the other for Admin router access only, this way a user can't crack the router.
Turn off remote access, don't use hidden network or MAC Address filtering, no defense.
The long passwords are needed to defeat brute force attacks using video card based software, this type of password will take thousands of years to crack.
You can learn more about wireless networking online, have a local PC/Mac guy set you up.
Your computers are much more secure behind a router than directly connected to Internet as the router is a dumb switch, like a large security guard, only allowing certain things to pass and beating down others who try.
Also you don't wear out your Ethernet port like what your doing now connecting the cable all the time.
    Good Luck

  • Can two computers share one iTunes library?

I am trying to map out a new plan for how we store and play music via iTunes at home. Currently, our music is stored on a windows PC and played via iTunes and an airport express.  I recently bought a new macbook and am considering an airport extreme with the hope that I can store the music on a hard drive attached to the airport extreme and play music from either computer.  Can the two computers share one library? I already have home sharing turned on and can access my library from the macbook, but if possible, I would prefer having the hard drive separate of the desktop.  Any reason this won't work?
    Thanks!

I periodically copy my iTunes library from my Mac Pro to the Mac Mini.
They aren't using a single library. Each computer is using its own copy and you have two sets of library files.  It can certainly be done that way but if between copy sessions you edit a bit of each library then it is a bit of a muddle trying to make sure your versions are synchronized with each other.  For example, ratings are stored only in the .itl file, so if you rate a song on your second computer it will get lost the next time you copy over from your first.

  • HT204053 Can two people share the icloud if they have a different Apple ID

Can two people combine their icloud information if they have different Apple IDs?  Or is a common ID necessary?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You need the same Apple ID to have the same information (you can't mix it if you don't want to mess everything in one Apple ID)

  • Can two people share the same library?

I installed a new mac mini which we're planning on using as a media hub and as a machine to sync my iphone from.  I want to have a "Server" login on it just for itunes to run the backend for Apple TV.  However, I'd also like my itunes library on my "Personal" login.  Can I share the same library betwixt the two (if put into the Shared folder?) or do I have to set it up in my Personal and then share it to the Server login?  If I do that, don't I have to login to both and run itunes before it'll work?  I'd like to avoid anything like that because I travel often and want something my family can leave on and reboot easily while I'm away, without giving my kids access to my Personal login.

  • How can two users share the same iTunes library in 10.7

I am running Lion 10.7 and there are two users on the iMac.
I would like full read/write access to our share music from either user account.
Currently I have the iTunes Media folder in users/shared and on my account it looks like a regular iTunes and in my preferences I have ticked the 'share' box, but on my wifes account she can see the shared library but the only view available is a simple list.

Try putting it on a removable drive, like a flash drive.

  • Can two computers share same ITunes library over Airdisk?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook and a PowerPC G5 and a Drobo (external hard drive) hooked up to my AEBS with only ITunes music stored on it.
I want to be able to edit and browse my ITunes library from both my G5 (which I can already do) and my MacBook (which I can't). When I try to change my ITunes library location from within my MacBook, nothing shows up. It's a blank library, even though I can edit and browse the Drobo (as an Airdisk) through the finder. How can I edit and browse my ITunes library from my Macbook if my G5 is also using the same library? Two more quick points...
    1) I have tried the "sharing" feature and don't want to use it. It doesn't allow editing of my library and won't show cover art.
    2) The above situation happens whether my G5 ITunes is open or closed.
    Thanks everybody for your help.

  • Can two iPhones share the same apple id?

I have a white iPhone 4 and i just bought a new black iPhone 4. Can I activiate the new black iPhone 4 and use the same apple id on both of them? Will all the music be shared? Can I have access to the account on both phones?

No. The only information that may be transferred between the two is music, apps, or books if automatic downloads are turned on within Settings>iTunes and App Stores. However if you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on both devices they will share whatever information you share with iCloud. For instance if you have different contacts on both phones and use the same iCloud account with both of them they will then show a combination of the two contact libraries on both phones. So if you add a contact to one iPhone it will add the same contact to the other. The same goes with deleting contacts as well. Hope this helps.

  • Can two users share the same mac desktop with two different iTunes accounts

I have a mac desktop, my husband and I share the mailbox for our emails but he has his itunes account on the computer. I have mine on an old mac laptop wHich is not working well any longer. Can I create a second Itunes on the desktop so we could both use the same computer yet keep our music separate

    You can.
Your home account can have its own hard drive.
iTunes Media Library can be shared. Or not.
Even have your own boot drive if needed and you have different applications and configuration.
The Mac Pro and OS X are designed for multiple users. Not being limited to just one (or two, now that SSDs have found their way into iMac and laptops) has allowed more people to off load their media and data from the boot drive, which is always good.

  • Can two users share Applications?

My wife and I have each an administrator account on the iMac with own separate emails etc..... ie. We login separately as required.
Is there an easy way we can share the same programmes in Applications when say, Photoshop is loaded into one profile and not the other?

From your reply, it now seems like you're trying to copy an application from one computer to a second computer and it's the user account on the second computer that can't run the application. If that's correct, then thats what is causing the issue.
With some smaller applications, the whole program is self-contained. These kinds of programs are usually installed by dragging them from one location (usually a CD or DVD) to another (usually your hard drive). These programs are the kinds you would be able to drag from one computer to another and they would run with no problems.
More complex programs, however, need an install program because they add support files to various locations on your hard drive. Without these support files on the hard drive, the programs won't run. Typically, when these are installed on a computer with more than one user account, all users will have access to the program. However, if you want to install the program onto a second computer, then you will need to run the install program on that computer so it can put all the support files into place. You won't just be able to drag the application file to a second computer because the second computer doesn't have the support files installed.
Since I'm a bit confused on what it is you are trying to do, can you please explain what computer has the working applications installed on it, and what computer has the user account that is unable to use those applications?

  • Can two programs recive the same stream from the same port?

I am sending a video from a server to my client on port 23456.
On my client I am running a videoreciver that shows the video, and I also want to run a program that receives the strem with datagramSocket and writes out statistics.. Is this possible? or wil I get: can't open local dataport..
do I have to runn it one by one.. and maybe send the vide two times?

What you should do is just layer the functionalities, so that you have one class that reads the stream from the port and buffers it. You can then have multiple clients that read this buffered stream.
