Can u confirm that this will work for duplicates?

I have a LARGE number of duplicate tracks (different mixes, different compilations, etc.) in my iTunes library. I want to keep all of my tracks but I don't want all of the duplicates to show up in my library window. After some experimentation, it seems that I can delete selected duplicates from my library, but have iTunes NOT move them to the trash. That way, the tracks are still on my disk and I can always import them again should I want to, but they will not show up and will not count toward the "size" of my iTunes library.
Is this all correct?

if you have itunes set up correctly it should not matter what songs are in it, I have all my music in home folder- music - itunes - itunes music.
if you then go into itunes and delete the songs you dont want but keep the files they will remain in the itunes folder within the finder.
the way you were asking is as if you have two copys of each song, one on your itunes folder and one elsewhere on you hard disk with is using up a load more space.
If Im wrong then please tell me!!

  • Can someone confirm if this will work for our needs?

I downloaded and installed the Acrobat 9 'free 30-day trial' version to confirm whether this software will do what we need for a given requirement before purchasing it but the functions that I need to test are inactive in the trial version.
We need to be able to:
Distribute blank or partially completed forms to external contacts who can open the files without needing to purchase software. (no problem)
External contacts must be able to add attachments or paste screen-shots and photos into the form, fill-in fields and submit the form back to our e-mail address. (not sure)
We must be able to distribute the (partially-completed) returned forms internally for mark-ups and/or approvals and be able to track their progress. (not sure)
Some completed forms will need to be returned to the external contacts, where they must be able to open and print the forms. (I think so)
We need to be able to collect and sort and filter the forms based upon form field inputs. (not sure)
The information in these forms is security-sensitive, so we would like to manage the information locally, not on Adobe.com.
It looks like we can add attachments to the files, but I can not test how it works because this function is disabled for the trial version.
I am also not able to test the sorting/filtering/tracking of forms. I believe this is done using the ‘Distribute’ and ‘Collect’ functions where returned files are ‘collected’ in a master file. The trial version does not allow me to distribute the form, so I can not create the master file to see what it does.
I called customer support to ask about how it works but he would not answer my questions unless we purchase the software.
The descriptions of the software on the website sound like it is possible to do what we need, but I can’t tell for sure, and I don't want to buy it unless all of our requirements can be met somehow.
Can anyone explain to me how this works and let me know if it will do what I need?  Is there another product we should be looking at?

Since no one has given a go at an answer, I will try some. I am surprised that things are grayed out in Acrobat. If you create the form in Designer (the FORMS menu), then you can no longer modify it in Acrobat. That may be one issue you have. The modification can still be done if you do the form in Acrobat using the form tools uner the TOOLS menu.
For your questions: We need to be able to:

    1. Yes, that is not an issue.
    2. This is an advanced feature that requires current versions of Reader. At least I think photo clip capability has been added -- you will have to wait for others for a confirmation. The form can be filled in and sent back to you. There are 2 aspects to be aware of. If you submit the form, not just the data, then you are limited by the license agreement in quantity based on seciont 15 of the license (available online at Adobe.com). Also, you mention sensitive data. That would normally eliminate e-mail submission right up front due to the lack of security for sensitive data in e-mail. E-mail submission also has problems on many machines due to the client e-mail configuration. You are best to use a web script for submission of the data only (eliminates the license issue that requires saving the form).
    3. I am not sure of an answer on this one. I think the answer is at least partially yes.
    4. Once you get the form data back, you can import it into the form and save the form with the data for sending it back.
    5. Collecting the data is the best manner for the collection on the web with the capability of adding the data to a database or other manipulation. I think the FDF toolbox can send the data directly to a database.
My answers are not complete, but at least they give you a start on your thoughts. There are many here who are form experts and should have no problem answering the questions, once they have time. Just wait a bit.

As long as it meets the minimum technical specifications, although the more above the minimum you have, the better the experience.

  • Earth with USB & message that phone will work for emergency use only

I had problems with poor reception and people telling me that I kept cutting in and out, or that I sounded like I was talking underwater. Happened only after I upgraded my 16g 2g from 1.1.4 to 2.1. Husband has a 3g on 2.1 and has no problems, so area and external factors were not the cause. I took it in to an Apple Genius. He extracted the software, which he believed was somehow corrupted, and reinstalled it. I set it up as a new phone and have not had that problem since.
Only problem I am still having is that every once in a while when I turn my phone off, when I turn it back on I get the planet & USB cord with the chilling screen that my phone will work for emergency use only. A hard reset will return it to a normally functioning phone. Anyone else out there experiencing this? (This happened even after the Apple Genius extracted & reinstalled 2.1.) Anyone know what causes this?

    Hey Ann,
Are you using the iPhone with any accessories? Does this seem to happen after being used with the accessory?
When the iPhone was restored, was it restored from backup or setup as a new iPhone? You can try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone, if you haven't already. From there you can test it without any accessories.
If it was already restored and setup as a new phone and is not being used with any accessories, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Just call AppleCare or make another reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple store take a look at it.

  • Could someone who has dns set up correctly confirm that this test works?

The test that's here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106798 says if you attempt to visit this link:
    http://17.254.0.91
and you are taken to Apple's page then you probably don't have your DNS set up correctly.
Can anyone confirm, who has their DNS set up correctly, that attempting to visit that link does not work for them please?
    TIA

Right, thanks for that info. I don't understand what all the code stuff is at all, but I do understand this:
If you type in the link stated and you are taken to Apple’s page then DNS IS SET UP CORRECTLY.
I'm still confused though. In that article/test in part of its explanation of DNS it says:
If you encounter some applications that continue to work, it may be because they are set up to go directly to an IP address, bypassing the need for DNS service.
Surely typing in http://17.254.0.91 into your browser is a way of making your browser access apple's site *bypassing DNS*? -- because you're using the IP address irradicating the need for changing a name into an IP address. The way to test if DNS is working, surely, is to try and access apple's site via www.apple.com? Not http://17.254.0.91.
    Thanks.

  • Neither bootloader works? maybe this will work for you:

Hey all.  I'd used arch before and loved it so when I got an old HP and went thru the install and everything seemed o.k. I was excited, until grub didn't work.  At first I got the famous and well-documented Error 15, then I got another problem which is harder to describe (but anyone who has had it will know what I mean when I say): "A SCREENFULL OF GRUB."  Finally, I tried lilo which refused to even install for a different reason each attempt.  I had pretty much given up and was about to install Ubuntu (which fails to install on this PC 9/10 times but at least runs ok) when I tried one last thing; using the "install Grub..." option in "More Options (or was it Tools?)" on the Arch CD.  The screen went black and white and real ugly (like with static) and it looked like it didn't work at all.  I pressed enter again and some unreadable text scrolled and when I rebooted Arch loaded up perfectly.  I'm not sure what the problem was but installing Grub via the CD rather than the Arch setup guide did the trick!
Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone else having the same problem.

    Well that's is strange.
You also say Ubuntu won't install 9 out of 10 times ?
    What's your hardware ?

  • Can someone confirm these progs will work on Leopard?!

    Hi there,
I'm planning on installing Leopard today on my iMac G5 2.1 GHZ iSight and prior to installing it I wanted to confirm the applications I use most would still work.. I was hearing there were some problems with Adobe, is that still the case?
Will the following programs work: CS3, Final Cut 6, DVD Studio Pro, Lightroom....??
And do you think leopard will slow my system down or will it compare with Tiger or surpass it?!
    Thanks a lot!

  • Can someone confirm that this is a bug?

    Hey guys,
I recently used the built-in DeNoiser audio plugin for a project I am editing. Almost immediately after applying the effect, Premiere CS5 crashed. Now that I think back, this has happened one other time after the effect was applied. To speak of, these are the only two crashes I've had with PP CS5. DeNoiser is a useful effect, and although I don't use it all the time, it definitely comes in handy in certain situations.
Has anyone else experienced simalar behavior?

    Hey Todd.
Yes, I'm using the latest version of Premiere (5.0.3), and am using it on a Windows 7 x64 system. To speak of, this didn't happen with CS4 on the same system, although I cannot be certain of this because CS4 crashed on me quite frequently regardless of whither this effect was applied.
It doesn't instantly crash after the effect is applied. The crash occurs at seemingly random times, usually while playing the clip the effect was applied to.
The following is a record of the crash in the event viewer:

  • Can anyone confirm if this works

Before I buy a new Mac Mini I'm trying to confirm if this will work:
new Mac Mini -> Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter -> Monoprice VGA to S-VIDEO VGA Converter -> standard (non LCD) tv.
I have a new MacBook Pro with a Mini DisplayPort- I'd be happy to buy the cable and converter to test myself but I'm not confident the results would be consistent with the mini...am I wrong in this assumption?

here is a more conventional way to do it...from your minidvi port using he included mini-dvi to DVI cable and add this..

  • I am looking into Lightroom (Creative Cloud) to allow a Team Member access my Catalog to keyword search which images will work for our Social Media platforms.

I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns. My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
and a second question as I am new to the Cloud LR product. I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?

My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
I think the only way in Lightroom to make this happen is to use two catalogs, one for business and one for personal, and then prevent access to the personal catalog via putting it on a disk or location that your team member does not have access to.
I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?
Situations like this require you to put the catalog file AND photos on the external HD and then move the external drive to whatever location and whatever computer is needed. An alternative is to put the photos on a network drive and the catalog file on a local disk and access the catalog locally and the photos via network, but that limits you to using a single computer.
I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns.
As far as I know, this does not require Creative Cloud, nor does Creative Cloud help in this situation. Furthermore, if you are thinking about a situation where you and your team member have simultaneous access to the catalog(s) of interest, this is not possible in Lightroom. Lightroom is a single user application.
If you are interested in a true multi-use application, where more than one individual can access a catalog at the same time, you might want to look at Daminion. Note: I am not endorsing or recommending Daminion, as I have never used it; I simply point out the that it has the feature being discussed.

  • I've read a whole bunch of forums about printing from the Ipad2, I think I understand that, but I haven't found anything answering this:  I'm hesitating to buy an Ipad because I can't find an answer if this will work.

What I want to do:  Set up a (non-gmail...Mobileme or another recommended) dedicated email account on my ipad2 (or ipad3) that does nothing but send e-mails and attachments to my gmail account.  Once sent, I can turn off my Ipad and put it away.  Then I can go to any computer that can open and print out my received gmail and attachments.  (Like, duh, any computer with an internet connection -smile-)
A year from now, I might try setting this up to go thru google cloud/ cloud print -- do you know if apple is doing anything that willl prevent this?
For now, just e-mail and attachments, sent to my gmail account from ipad. The ipad account is to use a unique e-mail address, password, username, login.
Know if this will work?  If a work-around is needed, do you know of one?  I'm real vague about what a 'push' is in e-mail speak.
    Thanks, minimalistme

Sorry, but I'm a bit more confused (by your examples).
    minimalistme wrote:
Hi Chris - I'm just trying to be able to get print-outs from my ipad without carrying a special printer around.  Suppose I'm traveling and want to provide a bank statement to verify income: I can ask them ( a landlord, say) to let me print it out and sign it for them.
This assumes you are using your iPad and they have an AirPrint capable printer. Or you send/email the form to them.
Or I need to print out a PDF while I'm visiting my nephew - I can fill it out and have him print it out for me.  Or I can fill out that landlord's application blank with my ipad and email it to him.
What does this have to do with emailing from one of your accounts to another of your accounts?
Gmail apparently prevents us from sending emails to ourselves.
You mean from/to the same account?
If you can access the email, why would you need to resend it to the same account?
Anyway, its not a privacy issue, but rather a work-around
Don't understand/know what you are working around...
Access the email then send to your landlord or nephew and have them print it.
If they have an AirPrint printer available, you can print it yourself.
Use their computer to access your email though webmail and print it on their printer.
Again, I don't understand what forwarding the email to yourself will accomplish.
