Can we call singleton node as a child node?

Hi all, after reading the links i am not that much clear what i ahve understand is that non singleton node means parentnode? and singleton node means child node? but i want to know if i create two nodes emp and dept and emp node i will make as a singleton and dept will be normal then how the relationship

Rather than building a better mouse trap, why not ditch the singleton? It's a bad design choice.The alternative tends to be having some global configuration block which gets propagated to just about every object on the system. You can hide it behind stuff like JNDI contexts etc. but these aren't really more "pure OOP" than singletons.Yah pays yer money and takes yer chances. I like the Spring approach. No JNDI there, and while I didn't bring up OOPurity, it seems purer to me. It's easy to get rid of a Singleton and replace it with either an implementing object or a test mock. Sw33t.

    I would like to create a aplication where I call dynamically the same SubVi many times in the front panel of my main VI ... I saw this kind of programmation in other languages like Delphi, C++ Builder and Visual Basic.
    For explanation: I have 10 channels to read in the list, but I would like to see only 3 channels ... Then I will click in the channels choosed of my list and will open the same SubVI 3 times, where each one will show the individual channel.

    TiTou certainly pointed you down the right path... For a few more details, refer to my post to this thread:

    You could use the same technique, except instead of opening the clone's front panel, use the VI reference you have to it to poke it into a subpanel. Please note: I have never actually tried building a VI with more than one subpanel on its front panel, but it should work. Also you will not want to close the VI references because you will need them to stop the clones when you shutdown your application.

  • Context Mapping for Non-Singleton Node

    Hi ,
    I have following context structure
    Node_A
    |     attr 1
    |________ Node_B
                                  attr2
                                  attr3
    Node_B is the child of Node_A.  NOde_B has attributes attr2 and attr3.
    Node_B is a Non SIngleton Node.
    Node_B is mapped to Node_View of the View Controller.
    Node_A had 2 elements. Initially Element 1 is the Lead selection Element for Node A. I get the reference for Node_B using the Lead Selection Path
    NodeA_element1 = Node_A->GET_ELEMENT( ).
    Node_B = NodeA_element1->GET_CHILD_NODE( 'NODE_B' ).
    Node_B is filled with elements, lets say attr2 = 'Dallas', attr3 = 'Detroit'
    Node_View shows the values Dallas and Detrait since its mapped to Node_B
    Now the Lead selection of Node_A changes to 2.
    I again gett he reference for NOde_B usign the Lead Selection Path (index 2)
    NodeA_element2 = Node_A->GET_ELEMENT( ).
    Node_B = NodeA_element2->GET_CHILD_NODE( 'NODE_B' ).
    Node_B is now filled with, lets say attr2 = 'Mexico', attr3 = 'Canada'
    Since element 2 is Lead selection for Node A, now, and NodeB is mapped to Node_View, I expect the contents of Node_View to be attr2 = 'Mexico', attr3 = 'Canada' since this is along the Lead Selection of Node_A
    But it stays attr2 = 'Dallas', attr3 = 'Detroit'
    So in a nut shell,  the Context Mapping of the Non Singleton Node  DOES NOT map the Lead selection Path when its parent  , changes in Lead Selection.
    Is this a BUG ?
    Thanks

    Hi Anand,
    There is no bug. See when you are saying
    "Node_B is now filled with, lets say attr2 = 'Mexico', attr3 = 'Canada' "
    I am just not sure how you have filled the data in node B. Because the way u populate node data that way only you can get the data. The way you want to get data you must populate data in this way:
    1. Get Node A instance let say in lv_node_A.
    2. Get Node A element instance (lead selection) in your case lets say in lv_elem_A.
    3. Now get node B instance by lv_elem_A->get_child_node( 'B' ) lets say in lv_node_B.
    4. Create element of lv_node_B and bind it to the node B and also populate the value of attributes.
    Repeat the steps as per your requirement. Also Singleton and Non singleton has nothing to do with this it is all about how the instances will be manged in the memory.
    Look at this sample code and will help you while populating data in nested nodes:
        DATA lo_nd_a TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
        DATA lo_el_a TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
        DATA lo_nd_b TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
        DATA lo_el_b TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
        DATA ls_a TYPE wd_this->element_a.
        DATA lv_test LIKE ls_a-test.
        data lv_btest type string.
      navigate from <CONTEXT> to <A> via lead selection
        lo_nd_a = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_a ).
      @TODO handle not set lead selection
        IF lo_nd_a IS INITIAL.
        ENDIF.
        data count type c.
        data count_i type i value 1.
        do 2 times.
          lo_el_a = lo_nd_a->create_element( ).
          lo_el_a->set_attribute(
          EXPORTING
            name =  `TEST`
            value = count_i ).
          lo_nd_a->bind_element( new_item = lo_el_a
                                 SET_INITIAL_ELEMENTS = abap_false ).
          lo_nd_b = lo_el_a->get_child_node( 'B' ).
          lo_el_b = lo_nd_b->create_element( ).
          move count_i to count.
          concatenate count 'in node b' into lv_btest.
          lo_el_b->set_attribute(
          EXPORTING
            name =  `BTEST`
            value = lv_btest ).
          lo_nd_b->bind_element( new_item = lo_el_b
                                 SET_INITIAL_ELEMENTS = abap_false ).
        count_i = count_i + 1.
        enddo.
    This code will set value 1 and 2 in node A's test attribute. and on change of lead selection between 1 and 2 it will show value of attribute BTEST in node B as 1 in node B and 2 in node B...

  • How to instantitate a non-singleton node

    I need to instantitate the non-singleton node which has the following properties
    Collection cardinallity of 0..n
    and
    Selection Cardinallity of 0..1
    But when I try to get this node using wdContext.nodeA().nodeB()
    where
    nodeA is singleton
    nodeB is non-singleton whose properties are given below
    I always get nodeB as null . it seems nodes are initialized only if set to singleton
    I need non-singleton node for using the TableRowGrouping element
    If any one can please help that will be great

    Hi Gaurav,
    You have not mentioned nodeA  properties.If it's cardinality is 1..x then no need to initialize A otherwise you must initialize A first then initialize nodeB.
    Try like this:
    //If  cardinality of A is not 1...1
    IPrivateTrstView.IAElement ele = wdContext.createAElement();
    //Set if there are any attributes
    ele.setXXX();
    wdContext.nodeA().addElement(ele);
    IPrivateTrstView.IBElement ele = wdContext.createBElement();
      ele.setXXX();
    wdContext.nodeB().addElement(ele);
    The singleton property refers the relationship between the node and its parent but not between the node its child as for as I know.

  • How many times can i call the start()

    Hi All:
    I would like to know how many time you can actually call the start(),
    cuz my app is doing some really strange things,
    here is a fragament of my code:
    private void spawnThreads()
    ListIterator it = _vWorker.listIterator();
    while ( it.hasNext() ) {
    ClientWorker client_worker = (ClientWorker) it.next();
    client_worker.start();
    ClientWorker is another Thread, and in the run() of the ClientWorker, I have
    public void run() {
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
         try {
         // Start the timer
         Process child = rt.exec(_fileName);
         // gobble any error or output streams
    StreamGobbler errorGobbler = new
    StreamGobbler(child.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
    StreamGobbler outputGobbler = new
    StreamGobbler(child.getInputStream(), "OUTPUT");
    errorGobbler.start();
    outputGobbler.start();
    child.waitFor();
                                            } catch (IOException e) {
                   System.err.println("IOException starting process!");
              } catch (InterruptedException e) {
                   System.err.println("Interrupted waiting for process!");
    I have a couple of cmd files to execute, so This spawnThreads() will be called a couple of times,and the funny thing is , it will execute the first cmd files, and that is it, it won't execute the 2nd or the 3rd cmd files, it will start the thread, but then the run()won't actually gets invoked,,,so I am just wondering if anyone of you has encountered this problem, perhaps you could lend me some insight on this?
    thanks,

    Yes, you can run the start() of a Thread more than once,
    here is my Test App,
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    Vector vec = new Vector();
    for (int i=0;i<4;i++){
    ClientThread ct = new ClientThread();
    vec.add(ct);
    ListIterator it = vec.listIterator();
    while(it.hasNext()){
    ClientThread ct = (ClientThread)it.next();
    ct.start();
    and as you have already guessed it the run() of ClientThread simply does system.out.println()
    and here is the output
    run started
    run started
    run started
    run started
    so..yeah..I don't really have any idea what is happening to my app and why it is not executing any cmd files after executing the very first cmd file

    I have a problem which makes me very angry already :)
    I have two servers Exchange 2010 SP3 with MB role started on Windows Server 2012. I decided to create a DAG.

  • Can I call .m files from a LabVIEW executable without the full development version of matlab installed?

    I have an executable that I am trying to build (and distribute).  Right now, it has Matlab script nodes that call some matlab .m scripts that someone else wrote.  The target PC will not have the full development version of Matlab installed.  Would that work?  I have tried to compile the .m scripts into a DLL, but I can't import that to LabVIEW because of the special Matlab types (*mxArrays).  I have also tried to write a wrapper around that DLL, but with no success.  So now I'm wondering if I can either call the Matlab .m scripts directly from a Matlab Script node OR if I can call my Matlab DLL from within a script node.  OR any other idea someone might have...
    Thanks a lot!

    Simon,
    I looked at MathScript and am considering using it, but one thing that is not clear to me is if I will be able to use my .m files like I can with Matlab.  I call the same Matlab script repeatedly and it keeps track of some information in global variables (for example, the number of consecutive detections).  Can I do that entirely within mathscript or would I have to reload all of the info each time -- if I had to do that, it would mean substantial changes to the .m files ... and that's not an option.

    As far as I can tell problems might occur with the call library function node if the the DLL from visual basic is actually an ActiveX dll if that is the case it seems calling the dll by using the Invoke node is the way to go.

  • Is UDF required for this?!! or Can we manage with Node Functions?!!!

    HI Gurus,
    I have a requirement like below desc, Is UDF required for this?!! or Can we manage with Node Functions?!!!
    Source File: ( File )
    a) PO_TYPE
    b) Style1
    c) Style2
    Note: Style1 leads to Headernode and Style2 leads to ChildNode, Style1 and Style 2 are interconnected.
    Target File: ( Idoc )
    a) Header Node ( EHDRNDE)
    b) Child NOde ( CHLDNDE)
    And my question is.... I have to populate Header Node and Child Node in target side on certain conditions of the source file. they are;
    I) Whenver a different style1 comes in file...I have to create a Headernode for that in target file. Style1 can contain number of Style2 nodes with the same node. like
    Ex:
    i) Style1 -
    Style2a, Style2b, Style2c
    ii) Style1 ....... Style2aa, Style2ab.
    For this above requirement, I have to create corresponding target nodes for Header ( Style1 ) and as well as for Child ( Style2)
    for ex1: it should be one Header node in target and 3 corresponding child nodes
    for ex2 : It should be One Header Node and 2 child nodes
    For this requirement...can we use node functions....if it is...could you please help me.

    Hi,
    You can do it by using node function as well as UDF also.
    1) If your sequence is sorted and always come in sorted order only e.g. 1st come only style1 node and child node and then come all nodes from style 2 then u can use node function.
    2) for parent node use collpse context then remove context.
    3) for child node 1st differntiat according to your condition and then use split by value(value change)
    4) If occurance of style1 node and style2 node is not fixed then you don't have any option you have to write UDF.
    I think this will help you.

    Rohit.

  • How does LabVIEW convert string to char* when passing them to a Call Library Node?

    I have a program which calls C++-based libraries which themself use external libraries (Qt). I pass strings to my library through the Call Library Node, and was wondering how the formatting goes? I have to interpret the char* according to Latin1, UTF-8, UTF-16, ... to convert them to a string which the Qt libraries understand. I need to use char* instead of LV strings, because the library is indepent of LabVIEW.
    It seems that interpreting the char* as Latin1 (default) does not work on Korean systems (for one of our customers), which is understandable when you know that the Latin character set does not know Korean signs. Anyone knows how the char* should be interpreted then? In other words, for non-Latin languages, what exactly is passed to the DLL?

    I don't think that we reinterpret your string in anyway, just reformat the data so that it can be passed to your dll.
    So assuming you are getting text from, say, keyboard editing, the text should be in the ANSI codepage that the system is running under.  That is, if you are running Windows using an English locale, it will be codepage 1252 (Windows Western, Latin 1), if you are running Windows with a Korean codepage iirc it will be codepage 949, Unified Hangul code.
    If you are filling the string with data that you get from an instrument or some other fashion, it could really be anything.
    Here is a list of the codepages that Windows knows about
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms776446(VS.85).aspx
    I do have some experience with Qt as well, and I think that the function you are looking for to create, say, a QString from this is:
    QString::fromLocal8Bit
    but I am not 100% certain about this as I am not a Qt expert.

  • Call Type node not setting Call Type Dynamically By name.

    I'm attempting to use the Call Type node to set a Call Type dynamically by name using the following logic:
    concatenate("somestring_",userParseFromVXML("CT"),"_Q")
    The userParseFromVXML is a custom function that works correctly and pulls my data out of FromExtVXML correctly.  If I use a peripheral variable and use the same logic then set the Call Type node to set the call type dynamically by name using the peripheral variable it sets the call type correctly without any problems.  I'm using UCCE 9.0.3 and I'm wondering if anyone else has run across this issue.

    I wish I'd known about the table function before myself.
    This is what my experience is now after having tested these scenarios.
    Scenario
    Example
    PASS/FAIL
    String literal
    concatenate("somestring_", "test", "_Q")
    PASS
    Peripheral Variable
    concatenate("somestring_", Call.PeripheralVariable1, "_Q")
    PASS
    Custom Function
    concatenate("somestring_", userParseFromVXML("CT"), "_Q")
    Passing now (not sure what i must have been missing)
    The custom function I'm using returns a string and when I created a new custom function returning a String literal it worked just fine.  After doing my testing and swapping back to my original custom function I started seeing the call tagged with the correct Call Type, so I can only assume that I was missing something in the original concatenate string.  The custom function I am using is as follows:
    if((find(%1%,Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[0]))>0,before(";",after(concatenate(%1%,"="),Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[0])),if((find(%1%,Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[1]))>0,before(";",after(concatenate(%1%,"="),Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[1])),if((find(%1%,Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[2]))>0,before(";",after(concatenate(%1%,"="),Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[2])),if((find(%1%,Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[3]))>0,before(";",after(concatenate(%1%,"="),Call.user.microapp.FromExtVXML[3])),"Not Found"))))

    Can anyone help me out?  I am trying to use a chart with a Sliding Region of intrest function.
    I would like to be able to zoom in on the RIO and have the ability to zoom back out.
    I would also like to be able to set the initial mid point setting of the RIO slider.  The original file was using the delta T (psec) control to do this.
    I have only been experiementing with this number to see what value works.  If someone could explain what is going on with that control it would help.
    I noticed that when I move the RIO slider to the left all the way the value goes negative, I am not sure if the program stops reading the value

  • Use of Call Function Node vi, with char type pointer

    I want to be able to use a certain function from C++ DLL, and I followed the TOOLS>>IMPORT>>SHARED LIBRARY(.dll) wizard.  Where I located my header file and the dll file.
    However i am getting an error (1097).  This is the function with the paramaters:
    void Function_Name(unsigned char *L, unsigned char *H, unsigned in Len, unsigned char Adr);
    I don't think, that I configured my Call Function Node, correctly.  How should i set the paramaters settings of the first 2?  I have tried Numeric, unsigned (and signed) Int (32, 16), pass pointer value.  to accomodate the first two varaibles.
    Please someone help, what should I do to accomodate the unsigned char pointers, so that I can used the function in labVIEW?

    Hi Safe,
    The error you're encountering has the following description (I'm sure you've already looked this up-posting here for clarity for other readers):
    LabVIEW:  An exception occurred within the external code called by a Call Library Function Node. This might have corrupted LabVIEW's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart LabVIEW.
    Typically, this happens for one of just a few reasons:
    Memory was overwritten (e.g. you passed a buffer of N bytes, but N+X bytes were modified, and an exception was thrown.
    A bad pointer was passed. (This is probably not the case.)
    Arguments were not passed to the function properly. (Calling conventions)
    Function wasn't called from the proper thread.
    Some other reason (only can be determined by inspecting in a debugger).
    I've attached some pictures of how I'd configure the dialog, but there are two critical things you have to know: calling conventions and thread safety. Those are things defined by the DLL. In Windows, C vs. 'Standard' (a.k.a. Pascal) calling conventions MUST be correct, as they affect how arguments are passed on the stack. If this is wrong, then, for example, where arg1 is expected to be an unsigned char *, you may actually only pass an unsigned char. Dereferencing that number as a pointer will at best crash, at worst appear to be a valid address and silently corrupt memory.
    I suggest double-checking the calling conventions. 'stdcall' is still quite common, but not the default setting in the Call Library Function dialog.

  • Can LabVIEW call a function from a .sys file or is LabVIEW limited to dll access?

    My vendor has sent me a .sys file with functions accessing their hardware.  Can i call these function from labview directly or do I have to wrapper the .sys with a dll?

    Well a sys file is a kernel device driver. LabVIEW does not have any direct way of accessing such a driver. The way kernel drivers are accessed is usually through a DLL which makes calls to WinAPI functions such as CreateFile(), ReadFile(), WriteFile(), CloseHandle() and DeviceIORequest(). Since these WinAPI calls are basically just DLL calls too, you could theoretically use the Call Library Node to call them and access the kernel device driver in such a way.
    However for any kernel device driver with more than one or two device driver calls, it will certainly be easier in terms of development, debugging and maintenance of the code, to write actually a dedicated DLL in C/C++ for this device driver and access that DLL from LabVIEW, especially if you consider the LabVIEW datatype limitations when designing the DLL interface (Basically this same DLL can then be called from any other Windows development environment, be it Visual Basic (similar datatype limitation as LabVIEW), Delphi, (Visual) C, LabVIEW or also various scripting environments like Python and Lua.
    Some of the necessary WindAPI calls are rather involved and pose quite a bit of trouble to get the parameter data right in LabVIEw.
