Can we connect and access SAP database using db adapter?

Hi,
I need couple of details:
1) Can we connect to SAP database using db adapter and run select query to extract data from the SAP database tables?
2) Where can I download SAP adapter? How to install it? and how to plug that in to the JDev?
Cheers

1) Can we connect to SAP database using db adapter and run select query to extract data from the SAP database tables? It is possible as long as back-end DB version of SAP are supported by DB adapter. Oracle recommends SAP connectivity through Oracle Application Adapter for SAP rather than direct connection to SAP Database tables.
2) Where can I download SAP adapter? How to install it? and how to plug that in to the JDev?http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/adapters/pdf/DS_OracleASAdapter_SAP.pdf

    I've solved the DW problem by changing the site folders from
    'db' to 'wwwroot' e.g. 'C:\CFusionMX\db\' is now
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\
    However I'm now back to my original problem. I've lost my
    mqysql connection in CF Adminstrator. Before I made these changes I
    could connect to my mysql databases using the following settings:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Driver Name: MySQL Connector J
    using the following Java path and file:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
    Now these settings give me the following error:
    "Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
    while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
    occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
    username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
    Any suggestions on this would also be welcome.
    Thanks again to everyone for their help.

  • Can we connect to any SAP system if we have connection details.

    Hi Experts,
    Can we connect to any SAP system if we have connection details.
    In this thread I found Diego Lombardini asking connection details.
    Needed help on this report
    I am working in ABAP for couple of years but donu2019t have much idea about connection to SAP system, Please let me know how it is possible .
    High points will be rewarded for any helpful answer.
    Regards
    Bikas

    Hi Bikas,
      That reply is just because Diego got irritated by Ravi asking the same question in many threads many times .
    Otherwise if a SAP server is not secureed using secureclient you can always connect to that SAP system using the internet and your own SAP GUI ( perhaps based on the GUI compatibility )
    But i bet, nobody will reveal SAP server as open for you.

    Steps
    1. Create an entry in tnsnames.ora for the remote oracle DB
    2. Test sqlplus user/pass@remote
    3. create a synonym which points to a table at remote DB check docs.oracle.com
    4. user ABAP code execute SQL to insert data into local synonym which inturn updates the remote DB.
    I have done this in the past, it works great.
    It requries, DBA skills + ABAP programming

  • Would like to know if these devices can be connected and used at the same t

    Hi
    I firstly need to apologise for being not that technically minded when it comes to soundcards and audio equipment. I have good ears and really appreciate high quality music. I have nearly $2000US of AV equipment that I want to connect to my sound card.
    In the past I have been unable to use any of the Creative Labs products (looking back a few years) as they did not have an SPDIF inerface. My old motherboard did, but has now being retired.
    ) I need to be able to connect my AV amp via the SPDIF connection and also a microphone using a normal headphone plug (no idea what you call that connection), and be able to use both at the same time. My old motherboard allowed this with ease, but it would appear that not all of the creative labs sound cards will!
    2) The SPDIF connection must be located at the back of the computer. Connecting it at the front of the machine will be unsightly and dangerous to have the lead lying around in my current situation
    3) The mic connection can be located at the front or the back of the computer. A connection at the rear of the computer would be preferred.
    May I ask what is the cheapest X-Fi soundcard in the range that will allow this. I don't believe that spending more money will by me better sound quality when it comes to playing movies and music over the SPDIF interface.
    I am not interested in any fancy features, or special game acceleration modes or enhancments. Just good quality music through an SPDIF connection, and the ability to use a mic to talk to ppl online.
    From my research it would appear the cheapest option is the (expensi've) Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
    Many thanks for any assitance you are able to offer.
    3)

    That's like the 00-th post that asks for the same thing: digital connection of the Creative soundcard to a receiver.
    Yes, you can connect the card via a jack situated on the back of the card - you just need a cable with stereo minijack and RCA. All the older Creative cards (since Li've!) have that SPDIF output on the back, on the form of a mini-jack. It is labeled as "digital".
    The ONLY problem is that you will be able to send surround sound via SPDIF only if it is encoded DD or DTS on a DVD-ROM. The card itself will not encode surround sound CREATED in the PC. So, games, mp3's, CD's all will be stereo PCM. I guess that your old MoBo SPDIF was in the same situation (except for a SoundStorm integrated from nVidia that does DD 5. encoding on the fly). If you don't care about gaming performance, Turtle Beach make a card that does DolbyDigital encoding on-the-fly - they are calling this Dolby Digital Li've.
    About mikes: one mike input is existing on the back of the card, and another one on the expansion bay (if you have platinum version). both of them will take only a el-cheapo (electret/condenser mike), not a proffesional one.

    Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
    OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Hello Steve
    The simple and quick fix is right-clicking on that little Safe icon in the system tray (near the system clock) and choose Stop Backup/Synchronization. Do you see that icon?
    Turn it on and off as needed. Did this work for you?

    Can I connect and use Time Capsule with two printers?

    Sure, if the printers connect using the Ethernet port, you have 3 ports on the Time Capsule.
    If the printers connect using wireless only, the Time Capsule will support up to 50 connections.
    If your printers connect using USB, then you will need a powered USB hub. Something like this, for example:

  • Can I load a LDIF file and initalise the database using iPlanet SDK?

    I know how to create a new context in the DS, initialise its database with a LDIF file from the console or using the LDAPModify.
    But would it be possible if I can create the context & initialise the database using the iPlanet SDK for Java?
    I'm developing a module that would allow an user to create a new organisation, thereby the need to create the database using the SDK. How can I go about to achieve this?
    Many thanks!

    I don't understand. If you know how to do everything using ldapmodify, it should be very straightforward to use java. What don't you understand?

  • Connecting to an Oracle database using ASP

    Hi
    I am having problems connecting to an Oracle database using ASP. I am trying to do this for a school project the school's database server is running Oracle 9i. The repository is version 6. The web server I have access to only has ASP not ASP.net. What kind of connection string would I need to be able to connect to the database?

    You do need to ensure that the Oracle client and Oracle server are compatible, but that is generally pretty easy to accomplish. Unless you are trying to cross more than one major release (i.e. 9.2 client to a 7.3.4 database), you're pretty safe there.
    You could try downloading and installing the latest 8.1.7.x Oracle ODBC driver from OTN on the machine with the 8.1.7 Oracle client (I believe the last ODBC patchset was 8.1.7.10), but I don't have particular confidence that that will solve the problem. If it doesn't, we can do an ODBC trace to focus in on the issue, but installing a new driver is a much easier process, so that probably ought to be the first step.

  • Can the connection to a DB2 database be encrypted?

    I'm wanting to connect to a remote DB2 database (i.e. not the database the SAP system is running on) and have the communication encrypted. Thanks to note 200164 I have deployed the DB2 CLI client and configured DBCO. I am now able to make connections to the DB2 database using exec sql statements. What I'm missing is any information on if and how the connection to the DB2 database can be encrypted. Does anyone know if this is possible?

    I'm wanting to connect to a remote DB2 database and have the communication encrypted.
    Perhaps if I'd put a colon after 'wanting' it would have been more clear? If you read it as "I'm wanting to connect to a remote DB2 database and I have the communication encrypted" then it doesn't really make sense, so I fail to see the ambiguity.
    Anyway, are you saying that the DB2 user can be set to require encryption on the DB2 database server, and that in this case no changes are required on the client side to accomplish encryption? This would be a suitable solution to my problem. I had been lead to believe that encryption must be specified on both the server and client side for it to work.

    A Java AWT, X11 problem posted in the weblogic ejb newsgroup. I haven't been in here for long, but
    that has to be a first.
    If you have the DISPLAY env variable set to :0.0, you have to be at the console on a Solaris box
    running the XServer. 'xdm' I think is the code that has to be running. Also, I think the format is
    <hostname:0.0> or better <hostname:0> unless you are on a multi-headed workstation. Something like:
    export DISPLAY=hostname:0
    where hostname is the name of the host running an XServer and the .xhosts file allows access to the
    XServer from the display client.
    Apparently, you are not at the console?
    Anyway, I don't think there is a newsgroup here that I could even recommend to cross-post this to as
    it is not a WebLogic question. I think I would try the Discussion Forums at http://java.sun.com.

    So far basically what I did for the connection was create a constant equal to the name of the database, in the servlet. I will post my Servlet code so far, and I suppose it would help people with either I am going about this all wrong, or on the right track.
    public class SMServ extends javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet{
          private static void initialize()throws SQLException {
          String dataSourceName = Constants.MY_DS;
          try{
          Context wocContext = new InitialContext();
          DataSource ds = (DataSource)wocContext.lookup(dataSourceName);
          Connection conn = null;
          conn = ds.getConnection();
          }catch(NamingException ne){
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
              throws ServletException,IOException{
    RequestDispatcher rdSearch =
    getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/RTMain.jsp");
    if (rdSearch != null)
    rdSearch.forward(req,res);
    }The doGet is there, because what is supposed to happen is the Servlet is supposed to be hit first then go to the jsp. My jsp basically just has a button sitting on it, all I am trying to get out of this is, a button click on the jsp will trigger a hardcoded SQL statement to pull data. As most of you can understand, my purpose is to see this relationship working so I can understand it. I am not sure if I am completely right on my DS setup there. The Constants.MY_DS is from another class, that is basicallypublic static final String MY_DS = "name of my database"; Name of the database being the one I have an established connection to in rad.
