Can you filter results by step type?

Hello all,
I was wondering if it's possible to filter report results by the step type.
I currenly have it filtered as Result.Status == "Passed" || Result.Status == "Failed. This is fine, except I would like the user to be able to select whether or not a certain step type will report this.
I have far too many of these step types to go to the Run Options tab in properties for each and turn off 'record results' each time I run the test.
Lets say I have 10 subsequences (Call Sequence Type) and each of them has 10 PassFail Tests. If I only want the result of each subsequence (whether the whole sequence passed or failed) instead of what each individual PassFail test's results are, how can I do this without messing with the RunOpt
ions tab for each PassFail test.

Hi Sam,
You can enter that expression in the Report Options. Go to Configure >> Report Options and near the top will be a Result Filtering Expression, where you can enter that expression in.

I'm having the same problem. I go to Podcasts/Video Podcasts/News and they only give the featured, favorites (whose?), etc. I want to see all video news podcasts but if I then click on see all, it drops the video classification and shows all news podcasts. The iTunes search in general leaves a lot to be desired; its not very intuitive or pleasant to use, not the usual Apple experience.

I keep getting exact duplicate songs in playlists and libraries, how can you filter this out when upgrading these lists, or sync to the same device again? And how to do it without going through each and every P'list or Library ?

I have Windows XP-Pro SP3, the latest upgrades of Three media players, iTunes being the default player. I keep getting duplicates in playlists, libraries etc., of the same version of song. Everytime i make a change or renew my media to device or SYNC it wants to add duplicates to the computer disk, lists etc. Can you filter out same copies without having to edit each and every song, which in my case is quite large. For instance if you want to convert all mpeg, or mp4-a files to AAC you will end up with duplicates of each file type. Or you sync to an ipod, the library adds to itself---- including copies of songs already in it, if in a different file version.

This will always duplicate files within iTunes. I need to ask why you're doing this conversion - all formats are compatible with iTunes, and conversion between mp3 and AAC will always involve some loss of quality.

You can run a contacts report and select 'Default Address Type' as an 'Address Details Field' which will include the zip code a customer has inputted. You can then export the report, open it up in Excel (or similar) and filter based on the postcode. Once you have modified the list in excel, formatted it correctly and are satisfied, you can then import the report as a mailing list via E-Mail Marketing > Mailing Lists.

iOS 4.2.1 suggests that you may have 2nd generation Touch, which cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1
Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model. A quicker method may be to check the back casing. If your iPod has Model No.A 1288 etched into it, then it's a 2nd gen Touch.
Assuming that you are using the latest version of iTunes (today, that is 10.6.3), to check if your iPod can be updated, connect it to your iTunes and look on the Device/Summary pane. Select Check for Updates. If there is one, you will see a message telling you that and how to install it. However, if you see a message saying that your iPod is up-to-date, then it cannot be updated.

The steps on the page that you posted from should work, but you can only change your rescue email address if you remember your answers to your security questions :
- log into the account via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com
- select the Password & Security section on the left-hand side of your account's screen
- answer the account's security questions
- you will then get a screen where you can change the address (and/or the questions)
If you can't remember your answers, and you aren't receiving the reset email to your current rescue email account (and you've checked the spam folder as well as the inbox on it, and tried clicking the reset link again) then you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.

Can you filter a date range in Numbers 3.1?

It seems crazy... but I can't figure out how to filter a date range in the new Numbers (3.1). In other words, I have a column with individual dates e.g. 31-Dec-2012, 29-Feb-2013, 19-April-2004, etc.
I want to filter it so that ONLY the dates from 2012 show up.
The thing is that the new filters ONLY seem to let you filter from today's date e.g. between 494 and 692 days from today. Obviously, that isn't what I want, and it seems very wierd that something so basic would be left out.
What am I missing?

In the example below Column A has date values and Column B has a simple filter that displays dates if in year 2012. Pretty simple, likely too simple. Not sure what/how you want to display but thought I'd get something started. The formula in Column B is: IF(YEAR(A2)=2012,A2,""). You can hide column A if desired.

Can you filter messages by yes / no on attachments

I am trying to build filters and I can filter by most anything except whether or not the message contains an attachment. I was hoping I could send emails that have pictures attached to a separate folder. I could probably do it by size, but by attachment would be easier.. if allowed.

Can you filter/search images before importing them?

Is there a way to filter images before importing them in Lightroom?
Scenario
I work with an extensive image collection stored on a server. The images contain a full set of metadata, including keywords and more. When I work on a specific project, I import the images into a Lightroom collection. That way I can easily review, rate and add additional keywords to those best-of images.
The challenge is that the images I want to add are from numerous folders. Plus, I often only want to add some images from those folders (not the entire folder). This collection process can be very time consuming -- manually locating the images and checking/unchecking the ones I want and repeating the process for the different folders the images reside in.
The process could be greatly simplified (and a lot faster) if I could filter/search for images that contain key words or other metadata to find the full set of images I want to import.
The key is that I’m not using a workflow to simply import all images from a memory card or download folder. I’m working from a large collection of existing images and want to import a subset of those images.

No, you cannot filter or search images before importing them.
But immediatley after import the images are automatically displayed in <Previous Import>.
They will be displayed there until you import another set of images.
While displayed in <Previous Import> they can be searched and filtered.

Can you recommend any ken burns type photo plug in for fce?

Hi,
I have a big slide show to produce which I would like to do with FCE since I will be incorporating video also. One thing I love about iphoto is the ken burns effect, and was wondering if there are any ken burns type plug ins for FCE? I know you can do this with keyframes, but was hoping that I could a find a plugin that would be easier and faster to use.
I have read older posts on this, but was wondering if there are any current plugins out there that people would recommend.

You could also try Piero's free Auto Pan Zoom plugin.
You simply drop it on your timeline and all your slides will have a Ken Burns effect added instantly.
You cannot control the effect very much, but as long as you are not particularly fussy it could be the answer to your problem.

Can you filter on "Task Path" items?

I am testing the limits of the "Task Path" fuctionality for v2013. Is it possible to filter for those tasks that meet a specific "Task Path" criteria? For example, if I select "Driving Predecessors" can I get a list
of only those tasks that are the Driving Predecessors for that task? If so, what column needs to be filtered?

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately you cannot filter based on the task path criteria. They are not in any project field/column but just accessible via the bar format in the Gantt Chart. I guess it would be possible to do some VBA but this cannot be done out-of-the-box.

I have useful folders set up on iCloud. It would be convenient to be able to set up a filter to put emails directly into the relevant folder. Is there any way of doing this on my iPad 2?

The iOS Mail app does not do filtering; it has to be done elsewhere. Options for "elsewhere" include a Mac (or PC) or the server.
The iCloud server will do server-side filtering. It has to be set up through the icloud.com website. Sign on, enter the Mail panel, click on the gear icon, select Rules... from the dropdown menu, and click the "Add A Rule..." button, enter the filtering criterion, select "Move to Folder", choose a destination folder, and click "Done".
Note that you cannot accomplish this on the iPad itself, because the icloud.com detects that you are signing on from an iPad and goes into a limited-function state that won't allow access to mail at all. (Apple expects you to use the Mail app, which doesn't include the filter-maintenance function.) You have to use another device, perhaps a Mac or PC at a library or cybercafe if you don't own one yourself.

Can you filter for unread email messages

Has anyone figured out how to filter the inbox for unread messages? This would be very handy; I use it all the time in the web based Gmail client; "is:unread". I can do it on my Blackberry so I can't believe it can't be done on the iphone.

Can you store PDF and other type of files on iCloud? Like MobileMe iDisk?

I am currently using Mobile Me iDisk to store PDFs, Quickbook files, as well as other proprietary type files from different applications. I would like to keep storing these in a "cloud". Does iCloud not support this? How come they let go of this feature when it was available in Mobile Me? Is it DropBox for now?

Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

When you have iOS 5+ installed you will get a Settings > General > Software Update option allowing you to do future updates directly on the iPad.
