Cannot access my LG NAS
Just installed Lion on my Macbook Pro. But now lost the accesss to my LG NAS, also the Time Machine. I soke to Apple support and they blame LG and I spoke to LG and they said that Apple have disable some protocoll (dhcast 128) that NASes very ofter uses. I would like to go back to Snow Leopard but cannot access the Time Machine eather. Please any advise !
I tried it and it works for file transfer but not for Time Machine. As I cannot access Time Machine I cannot go back to Snow Leopard so I need to use this "fix". LG says an upgrade come in September (what are the doing?!?)
But as with all such "fixes" I am always very suspicious, what other trouble it might give me later on, etc. I would like to understand how to revert from the "fix" in case I need that later on. I am not knowledgable enough to understand what it accually does. Can you tell what commands to use?
I advise not to install Lion yet. (I cannot see what it gives me that I did not have before. Well, maybe the window resize function at all borders. But with all other troubles it really starts resemble the real Windoz.)

Cannot access Verbatim NAS in Finder
I see several discussions on this matter, however I dot no see clear solution which helped everybody.
My problem with OS Lion that I cannot access my Gigabit NAS External Hard Drive from Verbatim. It can be accessed from any Windows machine, but not from my iMac.
The weird thing here is when I use Finder I see the list of shares on my NAS but cannot get into any of them.
However, with Terminal I can go in, copy files, make directories, etc. Also, I can see my photos stored on the NAS using Lightroom.
It seems that the only problem - is the Finder. But it's a big issue, because it's most handy way to manage my files.
Is there any solution?Hi Pkirillov,
to solve your problem you need:
1- Update the firmware to:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0nrtbhhd0nu4mz1/Gemini_v2_6_3-1035.tar.gz
2- Open terminal and use this command to mount:
sudo mount -t nfs -o resvport <server ip address>:/mnt/ide1/<sharename> /<mounting point>
OR: apple+K (( connect to server)):
smb://username:password@<server address>/<sharename>
Hope this will work for you

I cannot access NAS with Mac OS Yosemite
I 've red other guy's problems in threads like that https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Iomega-Network-Storage/Cannot-connect-from-OSX-Mavericks/td-p/1298155/p... but i haven't found any working solution.
I just cannot access my NAS from Mac computer with OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.1 installed.
The Lenovo software I've installed looks crippled. It doesn't even ask me for credentials, just displays a message
It stands for "There's a problem accessing server "ix2.local." There are no such share on this server. Check share's name and try again. I wrote above I cannot check share's name, because LAM doesn't allow me to enter any credentials. I cannot access any configurations of this program, because he "Preverences" tab in main menu is inactive. At the same time NAS works wee with a Win7 PC plugget to the same LAN.
I have Lenovo Access Manager 1.4.4.14439 installed
I have ix2-dl NAS with firmvare v. 4.1.104.31360
Can anyone help me?Hello mordor_warior
LenovoEMC Storage Manager uses the current Windows/Apple OSX user account to connect with the NAS. If there is a space in the username or does not meet the username requirements for the NAS, it can cause this issue due to a permission conflict.
I recommend trying to unistall LSM for now, then try manually mounting the shares via AFP or SMB/CIFS in finder using a username created on the NAS web interface.
If you are still unable to access the shares, you should double check that the computer is on the same local network ip range and subnet as the NAS you are having issues accessing.
You could also try allowing "everyone" permission in the web interface, this would allow LSM to access the shares on the NAS even if the OSX username does not meet the NAS username requirements.

Access denied to NAS - OSStatus Error 2 - Cannot access as Registered User
Hi All,
I'm a recent convert to the MAC and working to get my MAC pro set up with everythig I need. I also purchased a time capsule which is now working fine. I understand that I can create a second backup to an external (Buffalo Linkstation LS-CHL 1.5TB) NAS using Time Machine and that it will alternately back up to each. However I am having problems accessing the other NAS. I have used the NAS web set up to confirm that it is set up as AFP and also make sure that it is formatted to be accessed by Apple machines. I have also set it up (a separate share) to be Time Machine compatible.
From Finder, I can connect as a guest without issue and also see the contents of the NAS drive. I am unable to connect as a registered user using any of the User Id's set up on the NAS. I can create folders and copy files to it however, so connecting as Guest and using in this way is ok. When I try to connect as a registered user, I receive the message "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported".
When I go into my time machine settings, I can see and select the "NAS-Share" option from the list of drives. I select "Use Both". It then attempts to connect and brings me to the "Enter name and pw so TM can access it" I'm give the option of Guest or Registered user. Selecting registered user gives me the same message as in Finder above ("The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported"). When I select Guest, I get the error "The operation couldn't be completed, OSStatus error 2." I've surfed all over the web and tried many things, but as yet am unable to access the NAS Drive as a registered user.
Appreciate any help you can provide

I am working with a client who is attempting to backup to a NAS device
The device is a linksys NSS6000 (Cisco device).
It’s a dual 1Gbit LAN device that supports CIFS / FTP and NFS transfers. It has only 1Gbit lan connected.
The device has 4 * 500 gb sata drives in raid 1 attached.
Cables go from cat 5 to fiber back to cat5. (The NAS is located at a neighboring office) The switches are 1gbit.
Server is a win2k8r1 fully up to date.
When backing up to the NAS device, the following error occurs:
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (86%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (90%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (94%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (98%).
Backup of volume Local Disk(D:) completed successfully.
Backup stopped before completing.
Summary of backup:
Backup stopped before completing.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
If we redirect the backup to a folder on a 2008 share, the backup completes successfully.
Only when backing up to the linksys NSS6000 does the error occur.
No other backup processes are writing to the NAS device so I can't understand why the process thinks the file is
being used by another process.
One thing we did notice that when the backup to the NAS device occurs, throughput is about 150 mbit average
On the 2008 server shares we successfully backup to, the through put is 500 mbit. Not sure if that is important, but
might be worth mentioning.
The following event log entry was noted at the end of the backup.
The description for Event ID '519' in Source 'Microsoft-Windows-Backup' cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message,
or you may not have permission to access them. The following information is part of the
event:'2009-05-12T10:13:31.617Z', '', '2147942432', '%%2147942432'
Any ideas?
Thanks..MichaelI am also seeing the same problem backing up nightly to a brand new NAS device (WD My Book Live)
All the error codes are the same as those in this thread.
From Windows Event Viewer:
The backup operation that started at '2011-03-25T06:00:19.811302700Z' has failed with following error code '2147942432' (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.). Please review the event details
for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.

Cannot access CIFS shares from Windows 2008R2 on NSS3000
Hi,
I am trying to upgrade our 2008 domain to 2008R2 but with that last version we cannot access to cifs shares on the NSS3000. Access from all other clients are OK. It was 100% OK under 2008...
Whether I use the IP or the FQDN, I got an error from Windows 2008R2. From IP, I got "No process is on the other end of pipe." and from network Gui, I got "Windows cannot access \\nas0026CB647BC6. It is likely to be an incompatibility between Windows 2008R2 smbv2 and the NSS3000 smbd but I can't find any firmware update and I can't find the process to allow in the registry.
I can ping it, I can connect on the web interface, I can connect on FTP but no CIFS at all.
Firmware version running is 1.20.1. Hardware rev : V03.
Any idea?Hi SpaceBass, have you looked into sharepoints or into Netinfo manager. I have been playing around with sharepoints and it does let me enter non local users into the sharing prefs- albeit manually. Only thing is , depending on the number of macs you have, it could be a long and tedious job entering it all by hand. Netinfo may have an easier way, I'll do some more digging and post back.

Problem with samba access to my NAS
Hello,
I have a Stardom NAS SL3620-2S-LB2 - http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_3893.html
I used to access to my NAS from MAC with SAMBA protocol when I had Snow Leopard.
Connect to server --> smb://192.168.1.10 (after that I put the user and password and everything OK)
I upgrated the OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and now I don't have permissions to access to my folders on the NAS. I can see the folders (with forbidden icon) but I cannot enter into it (because the machine says to me --- you don't have permissions).
Does anyone how to repair this problem?
Thank you very much!
JoanThe manufacturer says that this NAS (Stardom NAS SL3620-2S-LB2) do not suport Lion neither Mountain Lion and things will not change in the future.
Bad luck for me...
I ask them for the source code. Maybe someone can make a new unofficial firmware that support OS 10.8.2+ -
Cannot access old time machine backups
Hi,
I recently had some issues regarding my MacBook Pro and decided the best course of action would be to ensure it was completely backed up; reinstall OS X Yosemite and pick the old backup for useful files.
Unfortunately, when it came to resetting up Time Machine, it asked me if I wanted to use the existing backup. I imagined the safe answer would've been "Yes" and that it would've been smart enough to create a clean backup at the date of restore.
It seems that this is not the case...
Any backup, despite being listed on the Time Machine interface, prior to the date of restore was "greyed out" and could not be accessible. Unfortunately, the "Browse other Backup Disks" option didn't work (are there issues with this option for NAS backups?), and unfortunately, a repair disk doesn't seem to either.
I have only managed to get the .sparsebundle (encrypted) drive to mount once by using a repair disk; every other time I attempt to remount using repair disk, the button is greyed out. :/
The time I did get into the "Time Machine Backups" volume; only once backup was listed for ".inProgress" – a 70GB file (the sparsebundle is ~500GB+).
Any ideas on steps I can try to find these phantom files?
At present, Disk Utility doesn't have the "Repair Disk" option available and DiskWarrior 4.4 is throwing up error 2154; low memory; on a 16GB RAM rMBP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
JamieI am having a similar problem and do not understand the solution. I have a new Macbook and transferred my data from my Powerbook G4. However, I cannot access anything! There is a no entry sign on the folders and if I click them I get this message: 'The folder “Pictures” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.'
Help - but please, in simple language

Cannot access my WD world edition on Mavericks 10.9 finder
Hello my fellow mac-users
I seem to have a tiny prob. I've recently updated my Macbook pro 13' to the new Mavericks 10.9. And now I cannot access my WD My Book World Edition 1TB external storage.
I see it on the finder and I can access inside its configurations through Bonjour. But when I try to simply get in through Finder, putting the correct Username and Pass, it says:
"There was a problem connecting to the server "MyBookWorld". The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem."
Now I tried to find anything on the web, but all I found was a mere suggestion to buy a newer WD external drive - which is not an option for me.
I can easily connect it and see all of my files there when I'm on a Windows 7 operated computer.
Can someone help me out? PLEASE!!!
Thanks in advance!I read this in the WD community written by a user called alazO and it has worked; hope this is useful
Find out what the IP address is for your NAS drive. I set mine to a static address, so that it's always the same. If you need help with this, let me know, and I'll give more info. But in short, if you can log into your router, look under your networks tab and peruse -- you should be able to find it.
Finder -> Go -> Connect to server. In the type-in box, put in afp:// IP address, if that does not fix it, put in smb://IP address. So, if your NAS IP address is 192.168.1.100 (example), the you type in afp://192.168.1.100 in the box. Then press Connect. That should restart your connection.
AFP is Apple File Protocol -- it is Apple's version of file management over the network. SMB is Server Message Block -- it is Microsoft's file managment over the network. They both work for me. SMB is more common among various Linux, Unix, Windows systems, and works with Apple. I've read in blogs that Apple may be moving to SMB over AFP, but I don't know that for a fact. I suggest trying both for your NAS, one may work faster than the other, and may depend on the firmware in your NAS. -

Hi. I am using a time capsule for few PC s. I have made 5 different account to access time capsule. but in windows when I enter account name and password for one account, i cannot access other accounts, because windows saves username. how can i prevent this from happenning. I really need to access all my accounts and dont want it to save automaticlly.
Why have 5 accounts if you need to access all of them.. just have one account?
Sorry I cannot follow why you would even use the PC to control the Time Capsule. Apple have not kept the Windows version of the utility up to date.. so they keep making it harder and harder to run windows with apple routers. -
I copied a lot of photos from an iphone to a DVD using a Windows 7 laptop, now I cannot access those photos on the DVD. HELP! In Windows Exlporer I can see the data on the disk in the details but when I click on it nothing appears as if there is nothing on it.
It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

Access to SSO login when client cannot access port 7777
We have a situation in which some of our users are behind internet firewalls that only allow access to port 80.
I already have the middle tier/portal using port 80 but SSO is using 7777. Is there an easy way to make sign on available via port 80?
IMPORTANT: Both infrastructue and middle tier on are the same windows server.
Thanks.

swassocHi Doung,
I tried you method and after failed some times i found out;
inside the dads.conf
database string : localhost: 1521:ORCL ....
but when you want to loggin on your web browse, you cannot use 1521.
you need to use 7777
http://localhost:7777/pls/apex
it worked!
But I cannot access the admin page as what the manual said use the same method:
http://localhost:7777/pls/apex_admin
It said the page was not found???????????????
And I don't know how to login to the apex.
I typed in I think the right infromation:
workspace: orcl
user name: ADMIN
password: oracle( and I know it is right)
but I cannot login.

Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

>>The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share
It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
the share correctly.
If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.
Best Regards.
