Cannot access SSIS in my virtual machine

Hi,
I was trying to connect remote machine integration service using my local SSMS ( from my virtual machine ) but cannot connect.
I added my windows account (used in VM for login) in that remote machine. [Remote machine runs SQL SERVER 2005] [My VM runs SQL SERVER 2012]
Eg :
(From my Virtual machine) VM00012 -> run -> SSMS
Open-> connect -> (remote) Integration service [ I am getting an error ]
error :
When try to connect to a sql server 2005 Integration services service from the current version of sql server tools. Instead add folders to the service configuration file to let the local integration services manage packages on  sql server 2005 instance

Hi dinesh,
According to your description, you get the error message when try to connect to SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS 2005) using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) from SQL Server 2012.
Based on my research, this is behavior is by design. Microsoft does not support connecting to SSIS 2005 using SSMS from later versions like SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012. To achieve your requirement, the following workarounds are
for your references:
Install SSMS 2005 side-by-side with SSMS 2012 on VM and use the respective versions of SSMS to manage the SSIS instances.
Configure your SSIS 2012 instance to manage your SSIS 2005 packages. To do this you update the MSDtsSrvr.ini.xml file for the 20012 SSIS instance so that it includes the information about the MSDB database that is used to store your SSIS 2005 packages.

  • Cannot access Desktop Intelligence on virtual machine

    Whilst I can access the web interface, somehow I cannot access Desktop Intelligence.  When I logon I get the following error message:
    [repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(CMS host 'Desktop01' address was resolved properly, but cannot be reached to establish a CMS connection. Verify that your router/firewall allows communication on port 6400(hr=#0x80042a01)
    Port 6400 on the machine is LISTENING, which tells me it's open; Windows (WinXPSP2) is off.  The machine I'm logged on to is usually joined to the corporate (work) network, and, somehow tracert to the host indicates that the connection is passing through the Internet.
    Trying to connect using the <internal ipaddress>:6400 is unsuccessful as well.  Any ideas, pls?

    You need to be able to connect to the CMS port. If this is not working even via telnet then there must be a firewall rule somewhere preventing it. Unless traffic is allowed to pass to the CMS on it's configured port (6400 by default) then any further troubleshooting is unnecessarry.

  • Cannot access user data in Time Machine backup

    I had some corrupt files on my iMac and after a lot of troubleshooting I had to do a clean install of OS X.
    I had a Time Machine backup of the Mac with the corrupt files so I did not use the migration tool. I just want to get the files off my desktop and some other user files (/user/userX/desktop) from the backup.
    When I go into the Time Machine backup to restore anything in the User folder; I get access denied.
    Is there a way to take ownership of that folder? I need this data.
    Message was edited by: Tom515

    Strongly suggest erasing, reinstalling the OS, and using the migration tool. Resolves all such permissions and access issues.

  • Cannot access data from a Time Machine backup

    Hey all. This might get slightly confusing so bear with me.
    I have a back up on an external drive from Snow Leopard. I sold my computer and bought a different mac with LEOPARD. It said I couldn't restore because I don't have the version of MAC OS that the backup was created on. So I wanted to simply go into the backup drive and pick and choose what I restore. Problem is that it says I don't have the proper access right to do what I want with it.
    So, I wanted to change the access rights to it. I did the whole "Get info" and change all the privileges on it. Still a no go. I even went into the console to change the privs there....no dice. So I even tried a program that is supposed to wipe privileges. No go. The Disk Utility doesn't even have it to where I can even do a permission repair. The option is grayed out.
    I'm running out of options here before I take it to the so called geniuses at the "genius bar" for help. Any suggestions?

    I did go out this weekend and purchased Snow Leopard. Problem is don't have enough space on my current drive to to a full on restore. So I picked a couple files to do a restore through the time machine and still the same privilege problem.
    I'm thinkin' that I should just get on the horn tomorrow with the apple care and see what they can offer. I've had some bad run ins with those techs though, because I am also technical support/sys admin. Those people HAVE to treat everyone like they are dumb. One time I got annoyed because I told him that I understood what he said and that I did A B and C. He has to talk to people that way I guess because alot of people just can't figure out an Apple system if it didn't work like they expected. lol.
    So I strayed from the topic. Funny thing about my music and movie files is I can play them through VLC, but I can't play them through iTunes. How messed up is that? SO, I can play through a non Apple program, but I can't alter it or import it to itunes. And as far as Ubuntu goes, the folders don't even show up as folders. They show up as pieces of papers. They are gone, just heavily secured.

  • Firewall blocking access to Hyper-V Virtual Machine. Please hep!

    Hi there, I hope this is the right spot for this. Allow me to explain the setup we have. We have a server with Hyper-V installed and a VC made for a DC  for a small domain we have.  I was able to remote into the new DC, and our exchange server
    was picking it up as a DC. So far so good.....
    Now, here's where we seem to have a problem. We Installed 'Symantec Endpoint Protection' As we have this on a few servers, we had a set of settings for servers. (I didn't set this part up) Now. the problem we are having is that it seems the end point protection
     on the Hyper-C  Host is blocking connections from Exchange/other computers (access shared folders and logging in). What  can i do to resolve this?  Connections seem to be fine, (Exchange will pick up the the DC, and i can access shared
    folders) when i  disable the firewall and network threat protection on the Hyper-V Host.
    Our Exchange server is 2010
    We are using Server 08 R2
    Can someone please advise me on how i can get this resolved, so i don't have to leave the server with Hyper not behind a firewall or network threat protection.

    Hi,
    I am Chetan Savade from Symantec Technical Support Team.
    There was a known issue between SEP and Hyper-V traffic. It's been resolved in the latest release of SEP. If not using the latest version upgrade to the latest version can be a possible solution.
    SEP 12.1 RU4 MP1a (12.1.4104.4130) is the latest verison.
    HyperV traffic was blocked with Symantec Endpoint Protection Firewall enabled
    Fix ID: 3181006
    Symptom: The Symantec Endpoint Protection firewall blocks HyperV traffic.
    Solution: Modified the loopback packet processing in the Teefer driver.

  • Windows in a virtual machine

    Hi,
    my new X200s comes with Vista Business preloaded and 3 CDs marked as "Windows XP Rescue and Recovery Disc", and "Windows XP Professional SP2 Product Recovery Disc 1 & 2", respectively. I want to repartition the disk, deleting Vista in the process, to install 64-bit Ubuntu linux, and then to install Windows XP either in VMware or VirtualBox virtual machine. The question is, are the provided CDs sufficient to make an XP installation in a virtual machine?
    Thanks for any hints.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    No, you cannot install XP in a virtual machine with the restore discs supplied with your machine. You will need a regular XP install cd and a valid key number. This has to do with the fact that the restore cd's would see a generic virtual machine BIOS instead of the actual Lenovo BIOS and refuse to install.

  • Cannot access web console after install.

    Hi all.
    The last day has been my first encounter with Oracle VM and it seemed to go fine until I finished. I have installed the latest VM and management tools on a bare bones machine (spec below) but cannot access the console via http://machine:8888/OVA.
    I have tried installing using https and without and can gain access to neither the https 4443 or the http 8888 yet I can ssh into it quite easily. The dmesg only really complains that there are no ipv6 routers (understandable) but the xend.log in /var/log/xen does show something strange at the bottom:

    1 NVidia super duper gt9500
    3 Hard Disk, (1 IDE 150gb , 1 SATA 80 & 1 SATA 150 - the IDE is master boot with system on it)
    After a few attempts, I removed Video and the Intel card.
    The install was done via CD and never complained and in this last install, it only had 1 NIC to choose for the management console.
    On this last install I also chose top use none https and therefore the system says I should gain access via http://machine:8888/OVA
    I do notice though that in some tutorials, it states alternatives to OVA like OVS etc, all of which I have tried.
    Oh and if I netstat -an, it shows it's listening on port 8888.
    many thanks, I'm guessing it's some a bit silly that I've over looked but from the way I read the install instructions, you only need the VM and the management Disks to install and you should be able to access via web console?
    BTW, systems I'm using as clients to access range from, opera, firefox (Soalris), ie 6,7,8 & 9 from Windows and Windows server. All I get is Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Page.
    many Thanks, Mark

    Did you install the VM Manager software as a VM hosted by OVS? Make sure the VM is running. It is probably named something like OVM_EL5U4_X86_OVM_MANAGER_PVM. Use "xm list" on the OVS server to see which VMs are running.
    If it's not running, then run "xm create /path/to/vm.cfg" the path is probably something like /OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL5U4_X86_OVM_MANAGER_PVM/vm.cfg

  • VM Manager doesn't recognize virtual machine

    Hi there.
    I've created 2 virtual machines (Red Hat with EBS-12i), a vision and a fresh install and I have the VM manager installed in another machine. It all worked fine untill the day that I had to move the machines to another place and I was forced to change the IP of the machines.
    After I made the IP changes I lost the access to the vision virtual machine, the VM manager sees the fresh VM but doesn't sees the vision.
    Do you know if there is a tool that can probe the VM server to search for the virtual machines or the configuration file where there is the location of the VM?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ricardo Vilhena

On the Resources tab of VM Manager, select "Virtual Machine Image" and then import --> From Server Pool. It will find all the running VMs that exist in /OVS/running_pool/ that are not already being managed by VM Manager.

    Also, if your VM has snapshots and you delete it, you must wait for the snapshots to finish merging - the VHD files will be locked until then.

  • Cannot open 2 Virtual Machines at the same time to access the same Database

    Folks,
    Hello.
    I am installing Oracle Database 11gR2 RAC system using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2) on the top of VMPlayer 3.
    The VM rac1 and rac2 run correctly when one of them is shutdown.
    Their locations are F:\VM_RAC\rac1 and F:\VM_RAC\rac2.
    While rac2 is running, I open rac1. But this error message comes up:
    Error: "Cannot open the disk F:\VM_RAC\sharerac\asm1.vmdk or one of snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: failed to lock the file."
    While rac1 is running, I open rac2. But this error message comes up:
    Error: "Cannot open the disk F:\VM_RAC\sharerac\asm1.vmdk or one of snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: failed to lock the file."
    The 2 error messages are the same. This means I cannot open 2 VMs rac1 and rac2 at the same time. When we run RAC system, we have to open 2 machines or more than 2 machines at the same time so that all machines can access the same Database Server.
    My question is:
    Can any folk tell me how to have rac1 and rac2 run at the same time ?
    Thanks.

    You need to disable disk locking, which ordinarily is performed by the first VM to prevent any other VMs from corrupting your vmdk files via uncoordinated writes. You will have to shutdown both of your VMs and edit the *.vmx flat file for each, adding lines like the following (settings taken from workstation 6, but should be nearly identical settings for VM Player 3.x):
    http://crosbysite.blogspot.com/2007/10/clustering-in-vmware-workstation-6.html
    scsi1.sharedbus = "Virtual"
    disk.locking = "false"
    diskLib.dataCacheMaxSize = "0"
    diskLib.dataCacheMaxReadAheadSize = "0"
    diskLib.dataCacheMinReadAheadSize = "0"
    diskLib.dataCachePageSize = "4096"
    diskLib.maxUnsyncedWrites = "0"
    A few comments:
    - your shared disks (scsi1) must be on a separate virtual scsi bus than the boot disk (scsi0), to allow setting the sharedbus flag as seen above.
    - you must also ensure the cache parameters and unsynced writes settings are set to guarantee that all IO is immediately flushed to the vmdk file so the other VM can immediately access the latest version of data.

  • Cannot access virtual machine console

    I have installed VMware Server 2.0 onto Windows 7 (HostOS) and created a virtual machine using VMware Infrastructure Web Access. However, no tabs (summary, console, tasks.....) appeared in workspace when I selected the virtual machine I just created. I would like to install guest OS (centOS 6.2) on this virtual machine. I can power on the virtual machine but seems nothing happens. What am I missing?

    vmware dosen't support FF3.6 you should download FF3.5 or other downgrd version..

  • Cannot access Virtual Machine via RDP

    Hi all,
    I created a Virtual Machine 2012 Data center gallery last night, and I now cannot rdp into it.  It is using port 3389 for both public and private.  When I ping my VM, I get a request time out.  Any ideas what might be happening?  Thanks.
    Eric

    Hi,
    Good to hear that and thanks for your feedback.
    Just to add, if you delete the VM and keep its disks, then use the disk to recreate a new VM, the data on the temporary driver(D:) would be lost on the old VM.
    Best regards,
    Susie

    I created a Windows 2003 EE R2 guest with 16 GB memeory, 48 GB System disk and 4 virtual SCSI disks for Microsoft Cluster services. It all worked, but limited Windows to 3.75 GB memory.
