Cannot compile program in VC++ 2010 Express in Windows 8
Hi Microsoft Team,
I was using VC++ 2010 express edition on Windows 7. Recently i purchased Windows 8 Dell Machine and installed VC++ 2010 express edition on same.
To my disappointment i am not able to compile a plain C Code in VC++.
Please let me know what is work around for this ;
regards
Sobin
Hi
Sorry for that !! :(
I will give complete info please help.
I am a fan of Visual C++ 2010, coz of simplicity in debugging. I have created simple win 32 console project and created a .c file
Please find the screen shot attached.
I wrote simple C "Hello world program"
#include<stdio.h>
int main()
printf("Hello world");
return 0;
But when i do build Debug -> Build Solution. i am getting below messages.
1>------ Build started: Project: sobincode, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------

I didnt get this error when i was using windows 7. Does it mean that Visual Studio is not supported in Windows 8
Please help in resolving this issue so that i can get my old sweet VC++ 2010 ":)

Hi all,
I?m unable to compile the following code. Does anybody know what I did wrong?
In the main method the program asks for 3 values which then are used in the auto-class to do a calculation. But I made some mistake within the constructor and I don?t know which one.
Here?s the code:
import java.io.* ;
class auto
// Instanzvariablen
int startMeilen; // Anfangsmeilenstand
int endMeilen; // Endmeilenstand
double gallonen; // verbrauchte Gallonen
// Konstruktor
Auto (int startTacho, int endTacho, double galls)
startMeilen = startTacho;
endMeilen = endTacho;
gallonen = galls;
// Methoden
double berechneMPG()
return (endMeilen - startMeilen) / gallonen;
class MeilenProGallone1
public static void main( String[] args )
throws IOException
BufferedReader userIn =
new BufferedReader(
new InputStreamReader( System.in ) );
String charData;
int startTacho, endTacho;
double galls;
System.out.println("Anfangsstand eingeben: " );
charData = userIn.readLine();
startTacho = Integer.parseInt( charData );
System.out.println("Endstand eingeben: " );
charData = userIn.readLine();
endTacho = Integer.parseInt( charData );
System.out.println("Gallonen eingeben: " );
charData = userIn.readLine();
galls = Integer.parseInt( charData );
Auto auto = new Auto( startTacho, endTacho, galls );
System.out.println( "Meilen pro Gallone: " + auto.berechneMPG() );
} And this is the error message:
MeilenProGallone1.java:11: invalid method declaration; return type required
Auto (int startTacho, int endTacho, double galls)
Thanks for helping!class auto
Auto (int startTacho, int endTacho, double galls)Capitalization matters. -

In that case you should probably check that no other packages are missing files with
pacman -Qkk 2>&1 | grep "No such file or directory"
Any packages that report that they're missing files, you should reinstall. -

Hi,
I am new to Solaris. I have installed Solaris 10 and compiled packages without any error.
I have tried to compile Wireshark 1.7.1 and it was exist indicating '/usr/include/sys/feature_tests.h no such file or directory'.
So I have download feature_tests.h file and uploaded it to the relevant location and run ./configure again.
Now I am not able to compile any package and it indicate error

Search Server 2010 Express Help Button doesn't work
I installed Search Server 2010 Express to crawl our file shares and give our users a decent full text search capability and it's working well. I noticed that the initial search page that comes up, where you would type in your search string, has a little
blue question mark icon at the top right of the page. When I click on that, it pops up a window and inside the window it says "Help content cannot be displayed".
I found some info that pointed me to Site Actions, Site Settings, Site Collection Administration, Help Settings. When I go here and click on the link for Help Settings, it comes back with, "An unexpected error has occurred".
I also found a link that said to reinstall help files by using the following SP Powershell command:
Install-SPHelpCollection -LiteralPath 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\14\HCCab\1033\MS.Wss.HC.Cab'
I try this and it says Source not found, even though I can confirm the path to the cab is correct and my user has permissions to see that file.
Can anyone help me with my Help button here? I have to give a demo for our users on how to use the Search Server, I know someone is going to click on the Help button link and it's going to say "Help content cannot be displayed" and then ask
me about it. I want to get it working. Thanks.What does the powershell-command below return?

Cannot compile project after change to "any cpu" randomly
Hi,
in my VS 2013 i had changed the solution from x86 to "any cpu" in the debug-settings, the build-settings etc.
Now sometimes i try to build it it gives the error "Generate ressource cannot be executed because
it cannot connect to "CLR2" and Architecture "x86" - please make sure(1) runtime and architecture is avilable and(2) the file
"C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\12.0\bin\MSBuildTaskHost.exe" exists
I do not know why that is, it should compile in x64 since my os is 64 bit. The workaround is to delete the exe in my debug-folder and then let the vs build it again.
Sometimes it can work for days after that workaround to build newer versions, then magically it breaks again.
Looking at the .vbproj-file from another project that was "any cpu" from the start i learned that some x86-stuff is still in my config of the project that has the issue.
My question is now if you recommend to "just change it" or if just editing the file to look like that other project will not do it all.
My vbproj-file from my project looks like this

cheersHi mrsnipes,
According to your description, I suggest you could try to close the VS and then re-open the VS2013, then clean build solution-> re-build your solution and then check if the project/solution can be built successfully.
When I tried to change the solution platform to Any CPU, I found that it work fine. So to check if the issue occurs the specified project/solution or VS IDE, please try to create a simple new VB project in VS 2013 Express for Windows Desktop and
then right-click your solution->Properties->Configuration properties->Configuration Manager->Change the Active solution platform to the Any CPU check this issue again.
(1) If you still get same error, maybe you will need to repair or re-install the VS 2013 Express for Windows Desktop check this issue again.
(2) If you did not get same error in a new project, I doubt that this issue maybe more related to your specified project, so please try to create a blank solution and then add the project into the blank solution.
As you said the error message, I suggest you also refer the following article check if it can help you solve this issue.

Cannot Compile when using FileInputStream
I am trying to read data from a file...
I cannot compile this and I have tried importing all of the java.io.* classes and it still does not compile.
Help!

DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fstream);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in));

while ((strLine = br.readLine()) != null) {
// Print the content on the console
System.out.println (strLine);

in.close();
}catch (Exception e){//Catch exception if any

Hello,
I am getting error messages when I compile a Visual C++ 2010 project that includes the Atlcomcli.h file.
The error messages are:
Error 1 error C2338: CVarTypeInfo< char > cannot be compiled with /J or _CHAR_UNSIGNED flag enabled c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\atlmfc\include\atlcomcli.h
Search and found link to download hotfix KB982517. But no download available.
https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/613888/i-would-like-to-receive-hotfix-kb982517-or-make-this-available-in-the-downloads-section
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
GaganI would have to ask: why are you using _CHAR_UNSIGNED? Is this really necessary? I have to admit that the fact that by default char in C++ is signed is an annoying fact, but most of us have just gotten used to it.
Have you tried the workaround
#pragma push_macro("ATLSTATIC_ASSERT")
#undef ATLSTATIC_ASSERT
#define ATLSTATIC_ASSERT(x,y)
#include <atlcomcli.h>
#undef ATLSTATIC_ASSERT
#pragma pop_macro("ATLSTATIC_ASSERT")
that is described in the link

How do i use directX in microsoft visual basic studio 2010 express ?
i am writing code to graph stock market prices using microsoft visual basic studio express
i want fast response (i do machine language) using directX
this is my problem
i have never used directX, and i have never used directX in visual basic studio
i followed a tutorial that went like this
Reference: Microsoft.DirectX
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX
Imports: Microsoft.DirectX
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX
Declare: Private D3Ddev As Device = Nothing
Private D3Dpp As PresentParameters = Nothing
Private DP As DisplayMode = Nothing
i found the reference dll's at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\DirectX for Managed Code\1.0.2902.0
when i imported microsoft.directX.direct3DX i got error #1
namespace or type specified in the imports 'microsoft.directX.direct3DX' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found...
the same error occurs wether i use direct3DX \1.0.2911.0 or \1.0.2902.0
when i built and ran, i got error #2
microsoft visual basic 2010 express is waiting for an operation to complete ...
it hangs and i have to soft reset ctrl-alt-del
error #3
when i reference
Microsoft.DirectX
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D and
Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX
from C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\DirectX for Managed Code\1.0.2902.0,
all my declares work:
D3Dpp = New PresentParameters() 'Initialize
some stuff for the Presentation parameters
D3Dpp.BackBufferFormat = DP.Format
D3Dpp.BackBufferWidth = DP.Width
D3Dpp.BackBufferHeight = DP.Height
D3Dpp.SwapEffect = SwapEffect.Discard 'There's flip, copy, and discard. Flip and Discard
are used most often.
D3Dpp.PresentationInterval = PresentInterval.Immediate 'Present the scene immediately
but when i start debugging (f5), i get this error message:
mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v1.1.4322' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information
i dont fully understand the visual studio process, but i think 'mixed mode' means run and debug. two seperate app's
i know this is a long question, but the forums don't answer it properly
i want it answered concisly. i am running windows 7 basic, and this is my question
can somebody give me a dozen lines of directX code that will work with my system, so that i can at least draw a line using directX 2D and 3D ?
thanks everybody :)Hi,
Thank you for your post.
I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor.
Since your issue is related to DirectX, I suggest you consult on DirectX forum:
http://xboxforums.create.msdn.com/forums/ for better response.
Thanks,

Cannot Compile. Pls. help!
I cannot compile the following program which calls for another 6 class files from its code. Please note the main program (DiveLog.java)+the other 6 class files are stored in the same directory.
And also as this involves "package" I tried to compile it as "javac -classpath DiveLog.jav". But I still get the 'cannot resolve symbol' error messages.

=========================================================Might be a typo when you posted, but your DiveLog class is in package DiveLog, whereas your Welcome class is in package divelog (note the capitalization differences).
And even though they're in the same package, i'm always a fan of importing all the files you're going to need explicitly, such as
import divelog.Welcome
this applies to using the wildcard character too (as in, you shouldn't) to import files. Explicitly listing all imports allows you, and any other developer, to quickly see a list of all classes used. -
Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC - Oracle data provider

Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC112021.
I can't seem to get the ODAC to work correctly with the Web Developer Express. When putting in a gridview I only see the standard adapters. The one from Oracle does not appear. I have spent days trying to figure out why but no luck. No one else seems to have this problem. I do not see any errors when I installed the ODAC. I've followed a few tutorials.
http://weblogs.asp.net/nannettethacker/archive/2010/09/17/installing-oracle-data-access-components-odac.aspx
and
http://www.smart-soft-nz.com/oracle-and-asp-dot-net.html
I tried using the Windows adapters but they just don't seem to work. I can get results in the query builder but when I go to the next step in the wizard I get the constraints error. I've done all the research on that with no luck so I wanted to use the ODAC. This killing me! This really shouldn't be that hard. I've added the dll to the references but again it's just not an option. If anyone could give me a little direction that would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you
JohnDear Friends,
Installing SP1 and updates to it solved the first issue. So the database now seems to be of type 2008 R2.
Deleting some files solved the second issue.
However, another issue remains.
My most important projects were created with a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded from Microsoft and installed on July 3, 2012. This version of VWDX has now been lost, because my hard drive recently ceased to function and had to be replaced.
On the new hard drive I have a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded yesterday (May 28, 2014). As indicated above, I also installed SP1 and related updates.
When I load a project that was created in the version of VWDX 2010 that was installed almost two years ago and try to open the database connection, I get, in essence, the following error message:
"The database C:\Users\...\Database.mdf cannot be opened, because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."
So it seems that the original database version was 661, whereas the version downloaded yesterday is 655. It seems very strange that a version downloaded now should be earlier than a version downloaded two years ago. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution?
Thank you all for your trouble, and best regards.
Eric (orexin)
P.S. The site from which I obtained VWDX yesterday was:
www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-web-developer-express and the executive was called VWD2010SP1AzurePack.exe. -

Hi,
The following blog introduced a tool scans winodws module which may help find out the missing file.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2010/01/05/the-configuration-manager-service-pack-install-guide.aspx -
I have a problem with my setup. My labview project has been running perfectly till today, when I cannot compile any project. My project works perfectly in another computer. Same with "simpler" projects that I have. I cannot compile. I have tried to compile an empty vi, but the problem is the same.
I decided to remove all labview components from my host computer. I removed everything from the host (NI-MAX/my-computer/sofware, all programs selected) and reinstalled Labview 2013. After doing that, the problem still happens. Attached you have a picture where you can check which error appears. It even happens with empty fpga VI.
I am running Labview 2013 in an Windows 7 64bit. Xilinx 14.4 13.0.0
My software package worked perfectly till today. Maybe something got corrupted...
Any suggestion? Thanks in advance
Pablo

Labview error before compilation.png 24 KBYou've re-installed NI things. Butm did you try re-installing the compiler as that sounds like the source of your problems?
For future reference, you should bring up FPGA in the subject, in the first sentence, or pretty much anywhere other than the end of your post. It helps others understand your issue to know what we are looking at from the start. -
Having Trouble Installing Visual C# 2010 Express from ISO and from Web
I have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, and I am trying to install Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express from the Web and also tried from the ISO. But, the installation program is stalling and then not installing the programs....any ideas on what I can
do to help with this install. Thanks.Hello JWDog,
Please following the article below to collect logs:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2899270?wa=wsignin1.0
Download the
Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET Framework Log Collection tool
(http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12493)
(collect.exe).
Run the collect.exe tool from the directory where you saved the tool.
The utility creates a compressed cabinet file of all the VS and .NET logs to %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.
Post the vslogs.cab file with some descriptions of your issue to the forum.
You can also use this page
https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2013-iso-sha1-vs to verify your ISO checksum.
In my point of view, the error of the setup crash may need to check the following:
Verify that you have installed all your Windows Updates
Verify that you have disabled any anti-virus software
Verify that your OS is update to date, for example, if you are using Win 7 please remember to update to Win 7 SP1.
Best regards,
Barry

Of course I have a x86_64; the package as-is fails with this message:
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.
I edited PKGBUILD adding --host=i686-unknown-linux in the ./configure line, but configuring still fails with:
checking for OpenGL headers... found in /usr/include
checking for GL/gl.h... yes
checking GL/glu.h usability... yes
checking GL/glu.h presence... yes
checking for GL/glu.h... yes
checking for -lGL... no
checking for -lMesaGL... no
configure: error: OpenGL libraries not available
And here I am confused because I have lib32-libgl installed and being a.c an empty main this command line works fine:
$ gcc -m32 -o /dev/null -lGL a.c
What can I try? The host line makes no sense?
ThanksArgh, I though you were doing it by hand, sorry.
Leave a comment about your problems on the AUR page of the package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=28684
