I am getting following error, when trying to expand essbase from calculation manager, "Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1051293): Login fails due to invalid login credentials",

If you have moved the server to a new data center and an issue has started occurring then it could point to the change.
Are you able to log into essbase directly with Maxl using the same account?
If you run a registry report do you see any of the configuration with IPs instead of DNS/hostname

OK. First off, the D_DWH is correct in the referencing of your AW. The reference that you are seeing is the metadata manager definition of the analytic workspace. It appends the D_ by default.
An excerpt and some code from the online help...
Most classes that extend oracle.dss.metadataManager.common.MDObject are client-side representations of objects that exist in an analytic workspace. To find the analytic workspace name for an object, use the following methods of MDObject: isAWObject -- Determines whether an object is a logical representation of an analytic workspace data object getAWObjectName -- Retrieves the analytic workspace name for an object Example: Retrieving the analytic workspace name for an object The following code assumes that myObject is an existing MDObject. //Confirms that an MDObject is a logical representation of

That being said, here is the trick to verifying the internal metadata name for the AW objects.
Knowing this, I'm going to guess that naming your dimension D_TIME may not be the best idea as this may confuse the MDM. Rename the dimension and give it another shot.

Failure to connect to OLAP service

I have installed Oracle 9i Release 2(9.2.0.6) along with
Spreadsheet add in.My aim is to access Oracle OLAP data from Microsoft Excel. While installing the database i chose the Data Warehousing type of installation. The add in has appeared in the excel menu but while connecting it shows an error FAILURE TO CONNECT TO OLAP SERVICE. On seeing the detailed error message it said something like
oracle.express.ExpressServerExceptionError class: OLAPI
Server error descriptions:
INI: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
in function: TxsRdbSelectStatement:execute(), Generic at TxsOqConnection::getDefaultDatabase".
I get the same error when i log on using the OLAPSYS,SYSTEM logins.
On checking the Services in administrative tools(my machine is a Windows 2003 Server) i did not find any service called OLAP service or OLAP agent. Could this be the reason for my problem? If so what should i do to install it? However in the Enterprise manager, i have a option called OLAP under Warehouse under which i can see couple of sample cubes(COST_CUBE & SALES_CUBE). Also do i need to run any patches for this, if so can u give me the exact patch numbers for it and also where i can get it. And can u also highlight me on which login to use for accessing Oracle OLAP data through Microsoft excel.
Would be really grateful if you could give me a solution as soon as possible.

The SH user is not designed to be used in this context. You need to install the sample schemas that I outlined above or create your own OLAP schema using Analytic Workspace Manager or Oracle Warehouse Builder.

Help, error connection Cisco Identity Services Engine with AD, global catalog port status error

Dear all,
I have Cisco Indentity Services Engine, that connected to Active Directory. When I test connection detailed,
the result is error, said:
Test Connection Results
This dialog shows the detailed logs for the operation for: idsv0018.
Status: FAILED: Global Catalog port status error.
Can anyone help?
I believe, because this error, I can't search group of AD, at Cisco ISE.
FYI: the connection from Cisco ISE to AD, joined with successful result.

It's clears that when ISE tries to find the GC using the _gc._tcp. DNS query. It doesn't find that information on the Domain controller. The GC information is missing on the DC.
gc._tcp.DnsForestName
Allows a client to locate a Global Catalog (gc) server for this domain.

Cannot get my password to work in "Embedded Web Server" password timeout error message

When i go to any of the tabs in "Embedded Web Server" browser. it ask for a password and it will not accept the password. is there anyway to reset the password to default.

I would suggest to verify that the server response goes back through the ACE module.

As you can see, ACE sees no response from the server itself.

On version 11.1.1.3, after reapplication of 11.1.1.3 because of other problems with shared services, get the following message on the diagnostics for the financial reporting server.

Error: Result: -1; Error message: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1051293): Login fails due to invalid login credentials
Recommended Action: Make sure external checker is working.
Financial reports over the Web can not connect to the essbase server. Financial reports through the studio works fine. Any suggestions how to troubleshoot or resolve the issue with the login credentials for the Java API to essbase?

1) Does the user you specified in the connection have the role OLAP_USER
2) Does the user you specified in the connection have access to an OLAP schema (analytic workspace or CWM2 ROLAP schema)
3) Have you installed the correct JDBC files from your database instance into the BI Beans JDBC directory

Yes, you are correct. Due to invalid credentials only i am getting this error.
I want to ask you one thing. Actually, at the time configuration i gave password as a password, then my manager wants to change that password to Gxxx@123!
I have changed that password, it is working fine to connect workspace, easconsole and all.
But the issue i seen in creating DataSource(In planning), i am getting error with new password in the Essbase server datails. If i give old password(as password), it is working fine.
So, How can get that new password to work here??
In ODI also, it is the issue. When i am using New password it is not working. With Old password it is working fine.

Unable to connect to essbase server

Hi all,
In one of my DEV environment(Hyperion 9.3.1 64-bit)..I'm unable to connect to essbase server(EPMTSG96:1478) and throws out below error
Error: 1051293: Login fails due to invalid login credentials
I'm not even able to perform start/stop of essbase server.
On the shared services end,i get below error message when tried to select my essbase server project(Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2),tied with essbase server EPMTSG96:1478

I'm able to connect to admin console using my "admin" id and not able to connect to my essbase server using "epmpadm",which is the user name set for essbase server EPMTSG96:1478.
Here goes the action i performed:
1) Created new shared services project as "Analytic Servers : EPMTSG96:3"
2) Added the application "Analytic servers :EPMTSG96:2" to the project,due to which this application already under project "Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2" got removed.
3) So now my project structure is like this:
Analytic Servers : EPMTSG96:3
+ Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2
4) Now tried to externalise the users from essbase server EPMTSG96:1478 and from then i got all these failure messages.

Login Issue while connecting to Essbase server through excel add-in.

Hi Guys,
We are using Essbase 7.1.6 and have users (All are external users) who will connect to Essbase as part of month end close. Recently i am facing the below problem .
One of our user is trying to connect to Essbase and he is getting *"Login fails due to Inavlid login credentials"*. I am 100% sure he did not change his password also entered correct password.
But i manage to resolve this by disabling & enabling the user through EAS. Then user was able to connect to essbase with same userid & password.
My question is why this is happening quiet frequently? What could be the problem? This is happening with one or two users only not all users.
Please share your views if some one face this problem before?

Just keep in mind that Users lie. Maybe not intentionally, but they lie. All of them. 9 times out of 10. Just because they say something is so, doesn't mean that it is.
I can't begin to count the number of times that they have said "I am using my correct password" and it turns out that they forgot and are using an old one, or the one for some other system or are just fat fingering it. Or they shared it with someone else who is now entering it incorrectly. Don't believe a word that they say.

Essbase login failed & Cluster not available in Shared Services

Hi,
I have installed & configured the EPM 11.1.2.2 in compact deployment mode i.e. deployed to Embedded weblogic server. Shared Services, Essbase, Planning & Reporting are installed successfully.
I am able to login to Shared Services, Workspace & EAS console with my admin account. But I am unable to login to Essbase from EAS console, MAXL & ESSCMD.
When I am logging with MAXL or EAS console, I am getting login failed error.
Even EssbaseCluster-1 is not available under Application Groups in Shared Services. Only Reporting & Foundation are there.
Please help me what went wrong.

I am getting the following error in validation report:
Validating Essbase Server connection to NAVEEN
Error: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1051012): User native://DN=cn=911,ou=People,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?USER does not exist
Recommended Action: Check Essbase Server is started.

Basic understanding about Essbase Server and Administration Services

I am a newbie to the Essbase. I am trying to figure out the diference between Server and Services.I am very confused.
Please clarify my understanding
Essbase Server - This is a server in which Essbase stores all the data.
Essbase Administration Services -This is a agent used to communicate to the Essbase Server from the front end ( Admin Console)
Admin Console - This is a front end client used to connect to different Essbase Servers. It is possible to have Essbase Servers to be installed on different machines.
Before connecting to client Admin console we should make sure Essbase SErver and Essbase Administration SErvices are up and running

what ever your saying about essbase server and EAS is correct.If you want more detailed explanation on this please have a look into essbase architecture check this link which gives you better insight

it not necessary that Essbase server and EAS should be on the same machine.we can add differnt servers in EAS console.
As far as your last question(Before connecting to client Admin console we should make sure Essbase SErver and Essbase Administration SErvices are up and running)
Before logon to EAS we have to make sure that essbase server,essbase admin services and openldap are up and running

Essbase server does no appear in Shared Services

Hi All,
I've installed and set an EPM 11.1.2.2 environment under Win 2008 server with Oracle 11g database. I've installed and configurated Essbase Server, EAS, Essbase Stdudio, APS and EIS. But when I open up shared services the Analytic Server does not appear in Application Group and into EAS I'm getting :
Error: 104: Invalid user name or password
Error: 1051012: User native://DN=cn=911,ou=People,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?USER does not exist
I know the second error is because the admin user is not provided to the Essbase server, but it does no appear there.
Does someone could help me on that ?

Obviously several months later now, but just want to say thank you as well - I was having the exact same issue as the original poster (Essbase Server missing from Shared Services, credential error from EAS, etc). Your solution worked perfectly for me as well. That you for this solution.
