Cannot execute java.exe

I'm really having a hard time here. I have installed, uninstalled and installed again SDK1.3.1. I've updated my autoexec.bat to look as follows and I still get cannot execute c:\jdk13\bin\java.exe when trying to do the -version command. I'm running Windows ME. Any suggestions????
SET PROMPT=$p$g
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
SET PATH=C:\jdk13;C:\jdk13\bin;C:\jdk13\jre;C:\jdk13\lib;C:\jdk13\include;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\PROGRA~1\DELL\RESOLU~1\COMMON\BIN
SET CLASSPATH=.;c:\jdk13\lib\tools.jar
Thanks,
Leeanne

Didn't work :(:(:(:( I've even went to the bin directory and try to execute java -version from the directory and still get an error cannot execute c:\jdk13\bin\java.exe. I get the same error trying javac too. I really want to learn java, but not having much luck. Is there a problem with Windows ME and Java??
Thanks!

  • Cannot find java.exe when executing Sun Java Enterprise 8.1

    I downloaded and installed Sun Java Enterprise 8.1 (actually because I kept getting not enough space messages I downloaded it in 3 parts). When attempting to execute by clicking on the icon I keep getting a message saying "cannot find java.exe". I previously installed the java runtime successfully. Is anyone familiar with this and if so how do I get around it. I am running Win2k SP4 on a laptop. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

    Hi,
    I faced same problem. I had jdk 1.5.0_05 installed on C: drive directly. But When I check the log though the installation found the version it was assuming it to be at 'C:\Program Files\Java' so even after finding the installed JDK it was failing. When I copied the JDK at 'C:\Program Files\Java' and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Sun java studio 8 again, at this time it asked me about which JDK to use! Then there I could point to C:\jdk1.5.0_05. Then everything went through fine. I guess this is some problem in installation code. Try this out.

  • Netbeans 6.9.1 'cannot start java.exe'

    Hello,
    I've installed the JDK and then Netbeans 6.9.1 (Windows 7). When I try to run a JavaFX application, it fails ( saying 'cannot start java.exe' ).
    Just found [http://www.netbeans-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4220|http://www.netbeans-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4220]
    But locating the JDK on a different place ( using a path without whitespaces ) also didn't help.
    What could be the problem?
    thanks
    Edited by: Lichti on Sep 4, 2010 1:17 PM

    You can also specify which JDK Netbeans uses (as the default JDK and thus as the JDK used by the JavaFX module) by modifying netbeans_jdkhome in C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.9.1\etc\netbeans.conf

  • CANNOT EXECUTE "CEC_MAIN.EXE" after Kasperesky installation

    HI,
    iIm using Toshiba Satellite series laptop.
    Ever since i installed kasperesky software, i'm getting this msg, when i start my system: CANNOT EXECUTE "CEC_MAIN.EXE".
    Kindly help.
    sandeep sathyan

    Hi!
    The CEC_MAIN.EXE belongs to the Camera Assistant software. The file you find on C:\Program Files\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba.
    I think the software will be blocked by Kaspersky Firewall. So allow the CEC_MAIN.EXE in the software and then the problem should be solved.
    Bye

  • Cannot Execute .java File..

    Hi,i'm really confused about this..it's so weird..
    i'm trying to execute (.java) file from another directory, but
    it can't,why? if i just compile that file from another directory
    there's no problem with that...
    ex : i have file named Hello.java which i save it on C:\Work
    i compile this file like this :
         C:\javac C:\Work\Hello.java
    there's no problem when i compile that file, but when i try to
    execute that file i got this messages :
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: C:\Work\Hello
    this is how i execute that file : C:\java C:\Work\Hello
    if i execute like this : C:\Work\java Hello, there's no problem..
    Why (.java) file cannot be execute from another directory...
    Thanks a lot..

    It considers the pathname to be part of the class name when you do it like that, and since you don't have a class named C:\Work\Hello (and can't, since you can't use colons or backslashes in the name), that's not gonna happen.
    Try this:
    java -classpath C:\Work\ Hello
    Note the space between C:\Work\ and Hello. Hope that helps :)

  • How to execute Java.exe on MAC, LINUX, UNIX...

    okay, I know this is very stupid, but can anybody tell me how to run Java.exe on MAC, LINUX, UNIX?
    I know how to run it from windows, I have a batch file created in windows, will it work on MAC, LINUX and UNIX as well? (I'm not sure if on other OS, there is such a file type call *.bat)

    See what I mean about probably wanting a beginner's book on Unix and/or shell scripting?
    okay crackers, the only thing that I have to do is put
    in the name of my program into "your program here".Not necessarily. There's the ClassPath, program parameters, etc. What you need to put in the "your program here" depends upon your program. What I did was allow the script to be invoked with command-line parameters and you could (depending upon your program) put "-jar myjar.jar" in the indicated spot, if your JAR file was runnable.
    The rest no need to change. right?I don't know. What does your program need? Only you can answer that, not me. I just furnished an example.

  • Using Runtime.exec to execute Java.exe

    I am trying to use Runtime.exec to spawn a thread that runs java.exe, but havn't had any luck. I have two versions of code, the first one works (example 1), but I want to eliminate the use of "cmd /c" to keep system independance. The second example (example 2) does not work. Both versions work if invoked from the command line. I'm running Win2000. Any Ideas?
    Example 1:
    aProcess = aRuntime.exec("cmd /c java.exe
    -cp "<MyClassPathHere>" <arg1> <arg2> <arg3> <arg4> <arg5>");
    Example 2:
    aProcess = aRuntime.exec("java.exe
    -cp "MyClassPathHere" <arg1> <arg2> <arg3> <arg4> <arg5>");

    I think you mix two concepts: "threads" and "processes". A "thread" is a thread of execution inside the VM, but you want to actually start a new VM in a new process, which is an OS level thing, right?
    I've tried Idea 2 also, same result: works if
    i specify cmd c/, doesn't if I don't.It should work if java.exe is in your path... are you taking care of the standard streams of your process?

  • Cannot execute sapevt.exe on a Windows platform

    Hi
    for some reason I cannot get the sapevt.exe program to raise an event in SAP when running on a Windows platform. The command line I'm using is :
    D:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\sapevt.exe event=EVENT_NAME -t2 name=<SID> pf=D:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL
    It doesn't write an dev.evt trace file either. Also I'm using inside a VB script.
    I can raise the event from within SAP Tcode SM62 and it runs fine in a Unix environment with slightly different parameters of course
    Anybody help please.
    I've looked at notes 802172 and others and tried all the suggestions within.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Steve

    I have the following command defined in SM69 that works on our Windows-based SAP systems:
    Operating system command = sapevt
    Parameters for operating system command = ? -p ? -t pf=$/DIR_INSTALL/\profile\default.pfl
    Additional Parameters Allowed is checked
    What not try and define that and then trigger it inside SAP itself? It might clue you in as to what the issue might be. The input parameters are the event name and then any additional parameters when triggering the event.

  • CANNOT EXECUTE SETUP.EXE

    All,
    I am trying to install Oracle 816 or 817 on my Sony Win 2000 Professional laptop. For some reason when I click on the setup.exe on either the 816 or 817, nothing happens. There is some activity for about 4 seconds and then nothing.
    Has anybody seen such a problem before?
    I also tried installing off a CD. It brings up the first screen which asks me to select options one of which is Install/Deinstall products. I click on it and then nothing happens
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

    I am having the same problem on a variety of P4 boxes with a variety of OSs W2000, Linux, XP. Is there a way to pass the '-nojit' to the jre instead of the solution referenced here? Alternatively, is there a P4 compatible version of the jre from IBM for Linux and W2000/XP?
    Thanks,
    Chris
    Sometimes this can be due to things like anti-virus programs running in the background. Make sure all real-time virus scanning is disabled before running setup. Peter.
    Thanks for your suggestions. Actually it is because I have a P4.
    The solution
    1.) Search for symcjit.dll file in you Oracle folder. There are two of them. Rename them to symcjit.dll.old (or anyother name). These don't play a big role in the installation. Then re-do the installation using the Oracle installer.
    It should work.
    Thanks

  • Java.exe problem

    Hi,
    Would anybody please help me with this problem.
    I tried to execute java.exe with the command: java -Djava.library.path=E:\Program Files\Testing TestApp, it threw exception could not find the the path since there is a blank space between Program Files. I tried to put quotation marks around them, I got same problem. Java command seemed like did not like space. If I move my lib to new place e.g Test and execute my TestApp with the command: java -Djava.library.path=E:\Test TestApp, it worked fine. How can I solve this problem without remove space in the path.
    Thanks
    Hung

    i think you want to point to your programe classes.
    if so use
    java -classpath "E:\Program Files\Testing" TestApp
    because
    java.library.path contains many pathes related to JRE.
    D:\Java\sdk\jre\bin;.;C:\WINDOWS\System32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;D:\Java\sdk;D:\Java\sdk\bin;D:\Java\J2EE\bin;D:\Java\WSDP\bin;D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\WinNT;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDev98\Bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\bin;C:\Program Files\SSH Communications Security\SSH Secure Shell
    try this
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path"));-Best regards,

  • How to execute java programs in xcode

    I cannot execute Java program in XCode for Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Please help me how to execute a Java program.

    Do you have a particular error or message or diagnostic or issue, or something that's particularly wrong with Xcode?  If installed, Java does work, and Java applications can be invoked.
    Background: Java was deprecated from OS X a while back, and Java itself was removed from the default OS X 10.8 installation.
    Given that Java is now an add-on for OS X, you'll want to check with Oracle — the owner of Java — for OS X kits and tools.
    I don't know off-hand if Xcode still particularly supports Java (it was pretty weak, when last I checked), but I'd expect you'll be using makefiles for the work, and I'd also suspect that whatever Java support remains in Xcode will probably be going away in some future version of Xcode.   (If support hasn't already disappeared.  You may be using bash build scripts and makefiles to deal with Java now, or going forward.)
    If you don't have access to the Apple developer forums and the discussions of tools available there, then the archives of the Apple Java-Dev mailing list can be a good spot to look for existing discussions, and to post questions related to Java development on OS X.
    As for IDEs other than Xcode,  Eclipse or NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA, and BlueJ all run on OS X, and any of these would probably be a better long-term choices for Java development on OS X.

  • "ASSERT FAILED" when java.exe ends

    What kind of error message is this:
    ASSERT FAILED:
    Executable: java.exe PID 218 Tid b04 Module kswdmcap.ax, 4 objects left active at line blablablablabla
    This happens when my java class ends from where I called a c++ method (that controls the windows media encoder sdk). It return without an error message from the c++ part, but when java.exe tries to end the class does this error message appear on the screen (Windows XP). Does anybody have a clue what that might be?

    I wouldn't say problem.
    Presumably the library you call does something. While doing that it creates "resources" of some sort. It could be a socket. Or a memory allocation. Or something else.
    But it expects you to tell it when you are done. Either with the library or with some specific aspect of the library. And you are not doing that before you exit.
    Keep in mind that I am only guessing. There could certainly be other explainations - like a bug in the library.

    Let me guess, you want your web application to run a program on the client and to your surprise that's not working?
    Ain't gonna happen.
    its taking more time to execute .... that's y is there any other option to execute .exe file other than Runtime.getRuntime().exec("filename");Write proper English and you may be taken more seriously.
    1) it's not "taking more time to execute", whatever that's supposed to mean.
    2) there's no other way to execute something. Not that you should every use even that way anyway
    3) whenever you start thinking of executing external programs from Java, start thinking of not using Java in the first place.

  • Through Java code I want to execute a exe file which is in aJar file

    I am having some classes and an exe file in a directory. I have made them in to a Jar file. In a class file which is in that jar file i want to execute a Exe file which is also resides in that jar file. Is it possible to exexute that EXE file?
    For Example....
    1. Im having a directory named CLIENT.
    2. In that directory I have 10 clss files and an EXE file.
    3. These class files and EXE files are ziped in to a Jar file.
    4. I have to give the Jar file to my client.
    5. He can put that Jar file where ever he installed my product may be C driver or D drive like that
    Now the problem is...
    I want to execute the Exe File from one of the class where both the exe file and class file resides in the Jar file
    This is my requirment
    Can anyone Help to me to solve this problem?

    The answer is to extract the EXE into a temp directory, execute it, and delete it when you're done. For example:
    //This is the path *inside* the JAR file!
    InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/resources/myprog.exe");
    OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream("myprog.exe");
    File file = new File("myprog.exe");
    int data;
    while((data = in.read()) >= 0) out.write(data);
    in.close();
    out.close();
    //Execute the EXE here using java.lang.Runtime.exec()
    if(file.exists()) file.delete();
    ...
