Cannot gat java docs to show Mac OSX

Hi All,
I get the error message : Cannot find java doc . Check the java doc Library Reference to make sure the documentation is mounted.
This happens when I control click on a class in the Java editor . This is my first week with studio creator and I have un zipped the ref docs that came with the application.
Thanks in advance
Jim Ascroft

Hi Jim,
What was the class on which you control clicked in Java editor? I entered the following line of code in the page constructor:
String myString = new String();
I then selected String, control clicked and chose Show Javadoc. The javadocs literature for String class was displayed.
Hope this helps
Cheers

  • Cannot open any Java files on my Mac OSX: Problem Solved

    Hello all,
I have just begun an Introduction to Java class and I'm already having problems...namely, I cannot open .java files on my Mac.
Whenever I try to open them, I get an error message that says: "You cannot use this version of the application Xcode with this version of Mac OS X."
I'm running version 10.5.4 on a PowerPC Mac. It's a few years old, but I don't understand how it could already be so outdated as to not allow me to even use the application.
I am 100% new to programming and don't really know at all what I'm doing. Apple says their JDK comes with every Mac and no one else seems to be having this problem. I don't really even know where to go to for updates, if that is what I need to do, or if I should just download a different JDK.
This is an intensive (6-week) class and I don't want to fall behind, but it's halfway through the first week and I cannot even open files.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I figured out the problem by getting out my installation disks and I found the latest xCode tools app in the "optional packages" folder.
Installed it and now I'm up and running.

You can download Adobe Reader from adobe.com.  The Mac OSX uses its "reader" to open PDF files without the Adobe Reader.  If you downloader adobe reader, it should open all PDF files.  Hope this helps.

  • I cannot install flash player on my MAC - (osx 10.8.4) - it downloads 50%, then clicks to "finish"

I cannot install flash player on my Mac - running OSX 10.8.4 and Safari 6.0.5.  The progress bar show is as  downloading to 50%, then converts to "installing" and immediately goes to 100% and says it's installed. But it's not.  I get another Adobe Flash installer icon on my desktop instead.  Help!

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
First, remove Adobe Flash Player completely using Flash Player uninstaller for MAC : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
Download offline installer for Adobe Flash Player (MAC) from here : http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg

  • Cannot go to the Internet from Mac OSX, and Fedora Core 5

All Windows users (XP, 2000, Vista Beta) can connect to the Internet no problem on WRT54G with Firmware v4.20.6 (may 26, 2005). But odd enough, though getting the right DHCP assigned IP addresses and DNS server address, MacBook Pro (OS 10.4.1) and Fedora Core 5 cannot go to the internet at all using Safari and firefox browsers: the message keeps saying that your computer is not connected to the internet. Tested with BOTH wired and wireless connections, no luck to the internet. So, it's not about the wireless settings and setup. It doesn't work even if I directly connect the CAT5 cable to the router port.
Tested at wireless hotspots, at work where we have Cisco access points, and at a friend's place where there is netgear wireless router, MacBookPro is just working fine connected to the internet.
Any suggestions? Linksys doesn't support Mac and Linux PCs at all?

Thank you very much All (devildance, and Frank).
Seems like it is working fine now...
I reset the router as factory default, and reconfig the wireless setting(disable broadcasting SSID, configure TKIP PSK, and MAC filtering). Directly connected CAT5 cable from the router to my MacBookPro Windows XP. Working fine. Switched to Mac OSX, working fine. But, when I disconnected the LAN, and attempted to connect wireless, I couldn't go to the Internet using Safari and Firefox: keeps saying that your computer is not connected to the Internet.
Still could ping to 4.2.2.2 and 207.232.22.25, but getting errors "could not resolve the host name" when I pinged with the hostname bearshare.com.
Connected the wired CAT5. Working fine. Unplugged and used the wireless, could not get to the internet.
Checked the NICs settings on both LAN ethernet and wireless airport. All seems the same and correct: IP address, subnetmask and gateway address, and NO DNS entry. The same settings, but works on LAN cat5, and not works with wireless. So, for the sake of it, just manually added the DNS server IP addresses and domain names on wireless NIC. And Wala...it is working fine with wireless. Still strange the fact that Ethernet LAN NIC still doesn't have any DNS entries and working fine, but required DNS entries on wireless NIC.
For Fedora Core, could ping and resolve names without changing any settings. But when going to the Internet, got the error saying "comcast doesn't support this platform/OS" and another error "Welcome to Comcast High speed Internet....registration currently unavailable" when attempting to go any websites. Notieced that we pinging cnn.com, bearshare.com, or any websites, got ping reply from the same IP address which appears to be one of the comcast DNS server IP, 68.87.64.132.
So, I think it is a comcast issue not supporting Linux or something else which I would need to call to Comcast about...
But, thanks...looks like I can go to the Internet on Mac OSX, and Fedora core now with Linksys WRT54G. Thanks so much guys for all the suggestions....

  • Cannot connect to VPN of another Mac OSX 10.7 computer even when we purchased VPN software.

Having trouble connecting VPN to another Mac OSX computer. I am using a Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9.3 and I am trying to connect to the VPN on the Mac 10.7
Did some troubleshooting on the System preferences on both our computers. Set up port forwarding on my Wifi router. Can anyone help me with this?

However, I continue to see "An error occurred while extracting one of the Network Connect components."
Just a guess, but that looks to be the location for Apple Java 6, which is not replaced when you upgraded to Java 7, rather Oracle stores it in a different location.
It's also possible that Juniper has not updated their software for Java 7.  I know that's true for at least one other VPN vendor.

Firefox tells me there is an update. I click install, but it just sticks at the downloading screen (for hours if I let it) and cannot download. This has been happening ever since I changed to Mac OSX Lion on the new MacBook Air.

  • Regarding java application bundle for Mac OSx

    Hi,
I made a java application to distribute on Mac osx. I created folder .app structure according to mac application.
The application is being successfully launched by double click on Myapplication.app on Mac Osx which contains Java5.
Its not launching the application on Mac with Java6. I searched for the problem then I found that the current shipped JavaApplicationStub file is for Java5. I copied the JavaApplicationStub file from the Mac (which have java6) from /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Resources/MacOS/JavaApplicationStub" and replace it in my application bundle. Now application is being launched in java6 with double click.
I am looking for a solution which works on all Mac with different jre versions. I search for this.
    http://www.informagen.com/JarBundler/StubFile.html
here I found, that we can create symbolic link.... I have no idea about this how to do that. I am not using any jarbundler to bundle my application.
How can I get my application working on all Macs with different version of jre ?
    Thanks

  • Java application development on Mac OSX

Does anyone do Java application development on a Mac? I know that Mac has their own version of Java and I was wondering if there were any difficulties of Java development on a Mac. I'm considering a switch from Windows to Mac and want to evaluate how it will impact my Java development. I currently use Eclipse 3.2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Java development on a Mac?
    Thanks

I'm no Java3d expert but i'm quite sure java is slow on macs, as the java for mac technology is quite bad. Even 2d games with few sprites go slowly on my mac, it's a shame. However this might change as Apple is working quite hard on getting java to work properly, ( mainly because if java becomes popular the macs will lose their incompatibility problem! )

  • Java Problem on my Mac osx 10.7.5

I am trying to reinstall Java se 6. And i have deleted Java re 7. But it dosen't work. And I ve followed the methods from here "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4444438?start=0&tstart=0". I've changed the symlink of CurrentJDK und Current files. And I taped the "java -version". It shows "java version is 1.6.0".
But i opened the testpage of Java with Safari. It cannot show the Version of my Computet. So I reinstall my Java se 1.7. But it doesn't work any more. In "Terminal" shows my Java is se6 but the Safari shows nothing. Maybe my Java Files are already broken. How can my Java work or how can I reinstall my Java se6 and se7. I need Java se6 to install a program.

  • Cannot open Java-based webpage w/Mac Mini's Safari

Newbie here, in the forum and also within the MAC environment.
    I own a 1 TB Mac Mini.
I have been trying to open my bank's webpage which is Java based. When opening, it never finish loading the webpage. Instead, it just stays white and shows the secured webpage address but stops loading.
What I have researched at this point is that :
    (1) Java in my Mac Mini could be out of date (FIXED: I have the latest installed as of today, version 8, update 31). I closed all, restarted and still not opening this specific webpage. I contacted my bank and they told me to update, which I did.
am I missing SYSTEM CONFIGURATION or something related to SAFARI's CONFIGURATION or SECURITY-RELATED ISSUE?? any help would be appreciated.
    Great support community,
    Regards
    Max

I do not know how to Edit my last question, sorry.
    more info on my problem:
    (2) by adding few webpage address to the Exception Site List,  I noted when logging to my bank's webpage the following messages (please see attached pics). Cleary the Java Configuration need to be changed, IMHO.
"Application Blocked by Deployment Rule" -->Java application Blocked. Application blocked because  must meet the requirements for the High or Very Highsecuritt settings, or be part of Exception Site List to be allowed to run.
The application was blocked even dough the host site of the html file at http:// XXXXXXXXXXXXXX is included in the Exception Site list because application refers to multiple domains.
Reason: The JAR file at https: xxxxxxxxxxx is at different domain and is not also included on the exception site list.
Any comment will be appreciated. Still researching. tis

  • Switching to Java 5.0 on Mac OSX (Tiger)

    Hi,
I'm teaching myself Java (read newbie) from the O'Reilly books, and I'm having trouble getting OSX to use Java 5.0.
I downloaded and installed it from the Sun Development site. I know it was successful, because when I tried to do it again, the software installer detected that Java 5.0 was already there.
The problem is that I can't seem to convince OSX to use 5.0 when I try to run my examples. Even when I paste the O'Reilly examples straight into the text editor from the CD and then compile them, when I try to run, I get an error that, according to O'Reilly, means OSX isn't using Java 5.0.
    Any thoughts?
    Best wishes,
    Laurel

Maybe O'Reilly's book is wrong. What's the error message?
I installed Java 5 on a Tiger box, and it worked fine. I dimly recall, however, an option to install it without making it the default. Maybe you did that. If so, you can use it by changing your path.

  • I cannot open open iphoto iam useing mac osx version 10.7.4

    how to repair iphoto

Can it not find your photos?
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If 10.7 or more, reboot holding CMD+r down to boot from the Restore Partition, use Disk Utility there.
