Cannot install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on server 2012 R2. IIS configuration error

Hey Guys,
I'm experiencing a problem which seems to be common considering the number of posts I've found about it, but none of the provided solutions worked for me.
I'm simply trying to install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2.
I've downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing website the "SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1" ISO file :  SW_DVD5_SharePoint_Server_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-36118. So
this is the slipstreamed version which is supposed to bring compatibility with 2012 R2.
As I do not have direct access to the Internet I need to perform an offline installation. I also downloaded all prerequisities. When I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe with the necessary arguments, I get the following :
(Full log file is below)
I've tried the following :
- Restarted the server multiple times
- Manually removing/adding IIS role + restart
- Running the prerequisiteinstaller.exe from the DVD or from an extracted version
- Manually installing the prerequisities
- Installed .Net 3.5 as recommended here (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b597d35-b02d-4236-894d-38efc0c7c6f6/sharepoint-2013-with-sp1-install-on-windows-server-2012-r2?forum=sharepointgeneral)
None of the worked. So I'm stuck and I must completed the installation of this before the end of the week for an important project !
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys for the quick answer! Muche appreciated
I've tried all suggested solutions, but no luck :-(
- tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765260 > no help and by the way the hotfix provided is not applicable for 2012 R2.
also tried "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regii -enable -i" and got this :

  • Install SharePoint 2013 database on SQL server 2012 SP1 cluster

    Good Day all,
We are trying to install SharePoint 2013 database on a SQL server 2012 Enterprise with SP1 cluster (configured for mixed mode) but the connection is not working (times out). We can telent the SQL cluster network name on port 1433 and we made
a UDL connection file, test the connection via windows authentication and it is working, but if we use the sql authentication it is not working.
Also we have two SharePoint 2013 servers connected via NLB.
Any idea about this issue guys?

event if 3355 means 3 things:
The SQL Server might be offline.
The SharePoint Foundation database access account might not have the necessary permissions to communicate with the SQL Server.
A firewall that runs on either the local server or on SQL Server might be blocking network communications.
Big question, how you trying to connect SQL  windows or sql authentication? is it throwing error on Config wizard or somewhere else?

    Hi All:
excuse me I have a question about sharepoint installation. I install sharepoint 2013 with sp1 on windows server 2012 R2,but i always got "Configuring Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role"
message. I refer to this article <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765260>. I still got this message ... Which I did wrong step ?? I have been troubled for a long time, thanks to the help ...

    Hi  TiM,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you installed the prerequisites for SharePoint 2013 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2.
Please make sure that you have installed .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 R2, and enable .NET Framework 3.5 by using the Add Roles and Features Wizard.

    Dear all
During install Exchange 2013 through Powershell on Server 2012 I got this error in Mailbox role: Client Access service :

    Any advice please !!

I can't answer your question but I had a similar issue when I was trying to move our mailbox database off the C: drive.  Our environment still has an Exchange 2007 server in it and when I was trying to move the database on the 2013 server, I would get
error messages saying the database does not exist.  It seemed like it was trying to move the database on the 2007 server from the similar error messages that I was getting.  To get around it, I deleted the database and created a new one on the drive
    where we wanted it.
I discovered this when I was configuring the Antispam settings.  I deleted our 2007 settings, added them to the 2013 shell, the settings appeared on our 2007 server.  The shell on 2013 was making changes to 2007.
I'm not sure if there is a "Get|Set or New" command that I/we should be using when this happens.  Or maybe my issues will be fixed if I just remove the Exchange 2007 server?  I'm not ready to do that yet because I can't configure the spam filtering
on 2013 yet with its shell not being able to make the changes that we need.
I don't know if your environment is in coexistence mode like mine.
Hopefully someone else out there has an answer or can tell us when/how the shell can make the appropriate changes to the 2013 server.  Does this happen after the 2007 server is removed?

  • SharePoint 2013 Enterprise and SQL Server 2012 Standard edition vs. Enterprise - feature question

I can't seem to find any clear answers to the implications of installing SQL Server 2012 standard edition vs. enterprise in regards to SharePoint 2013.
I understand that to get many of the features you need Enterprise edition of SQL 2012; but, what I can't figure out is if the backend SharePoint SQL 2012 is standard; but, the PowerPivot/SSRS server is Enterprise will we still get the features?
If we have 3 tier SharePoint farm, one of those tiers is for the SQL Server database backend.  If that SQL instance is 2012 standard and we add another server to the farm w/ SQL 2012 Enterprise to handle the tabular models, PowerPivot, and SSRS in integrated
mode will we still get the features?
Or, can we (should we) install Enterprise 2012 as the SharePoint database backend and let that instance triple down as also the PowerPivot and SSRS instance?
    The Degenerate Dimension

    Hi MMilligan,
SQL Server 2012 Standard is not supported PowePivot for SharePoint . In addition, SQL Server 2012 Standard is also not support some Reporting Services Features.

  • Installing SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition

    Hi,
Can we use SQL Server 2012 Developer edition with SharePoint 2013?  One thing that came to my mind was setting max degree of parallelism, is that supported in Developer edition?  Looking forward to your assistance here.
    Thanks,
    kashif

    I'm slightly incorrect. See http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/4/A/64A1EC8F-F575-41E1-9D34-821FA9F98F8E/SQL_Server_2012_Licensing_Reference_Guide.pdf.
Licensing SQL Server for Non-production Use
The SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition is a full-function version of the SQL Server software—with all the
features and capabilities of the Enterprise edition—licensed under the Developer Tools model, which is a “per
user” model. One license is required for each person that accesses or uses the software.
When using SQL Server software for development, test or demonstration purposes, only the users are licensed
and there is no need for a corresponding license for the actual server systems running SQL Server software in
    this case.
As long as only licensed users have access to the software, customers can install as many copies of the software
on any number of servers that are used exclusively for development, test or demonstration purposes. This
is significant, because it allows customers to run the software on multiple devices (for testing purposes, for
example) without having to license each non-production server system.
But no, as you can see above, you'll have no issues with the software (Developer Edition is Enterprise Edition with licensing restrictions, but no functionality restrictions).

  • Install Sharepoint 2013 Foundation on Windows Server 2008 R2

Could anyone please help me with the steps to install the Sharepoint 2013 foundation (including SQL express) with Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

You just need to download Foundation, run the pre-req installer, then run the setup executable, select Single Server, and this will install both SQL Express and Foundation.  This isn't typically a 'recommended' setup, but it is an easy one.

  • SharePoint 2013 RTM on Windows Server 2012 R2

Will SharePoint 2013 RTM trial which is available at following link, work on Windows Server 2012 R2?
Or do I need SharePoint 2013 SP1 slipstream?
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-sharepoint-server-2013

You need the slipstreamed version. You cannot install RTM on 2012 R2.
(Note: it's not technically slipstreamed but yes, it is the SP1 media that you use and slipstreamed is a commonly misused term for it)

  • Cannot install Active Directory Domain Services on Server 2012 R2

    Hi all,
I'm having some trouble installing the AD DS role onto my virtual server. I keep getting "The request to add or remove features on the specified server failed. The operation cannot be completed because the server that you specified requires a restart."
After the install fails the DFS Namespace service stops and I cannot refresh the server manager.
This server is currently dishing out DHCP and also has VIPRE anti virus on it.
I did a ton of research on the problem but can not find anything specific to this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Dave,
I ran the DISM.EXE/Online/Cleanup-image/Restorehealth command and Windows did not find any corruption.
I then attempted to install active directory and was greeted with the same errors as I expressed in my first post.
I ran the DISM.EXE/Online/Cleanup-image/Restorehealth command again and windows found corruption and fixed the corruption.
I tried to install active directory again (was able to refresh the server manager at this point and did not need to reboot the server to attempt another install, maybe that is the corruption windows fixed?) but it failed.... with the same errors I always
    get.
The active directory install always freezes on 64% and then bombs out.
I shutdown the VM and rebooted... before the login screen Windows attempts to configure updates but fails. Could this be the cause?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

  • Install sharepoint 2013 on Windows server 2012, Microsoft Identity Extensions issue !!!!!!!!!

Sharepoint 2013 comes with prerequisitesinstaller.exe to install the software required for the actual Sharepoint installation.
I 've installed Windows server 2012 in the R2 edition as well as Standard edition, but installing the prerequisites ends with an issue for the Microsoft Identity Extensions (MIE) on both versions (screenshot).
The 2012 R2 server has been updated with all latest files by executing Windows update.
In case of the Server 2012 R2,  MIE is already installed , but somehow the Sharepoint installation is missing something.
I al;so tried removing default install to let prerequisiteinstaller.exe to install it's own version, but that did not help.
When I skip the prerequisites remaining items, the Sharepoint installation stops directly , requesting the missing items.
I've tried several Sharepoint server installation files, including the 180 days free version.
Screenshots will be uploaded after my account has been checked......

    Hi Jay,
Installing SharePoint Server 2013 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 could lead to unexpected behavior, therefore, Microsoft does not support SharePoint Server 2013 in Windows Server 2012 R2.
SharePoint Server 2013 with Service Pack 1 and SharePoint Foundation 2013 with Service Pack 1 will offer support for Windows Server 2012 R2.
    Refer to:
SharePoint 2013 Support for Windows Server 2012 R2
In addition, as Dave suggested, for the sharepoint server issue, please post in the dedicated forum for a better response.

    Hi,
From your description, I know you get error when you install SharePoint 2013 in Windows Server 2012 R2.
If you have tried all method above. In your case, you have installed the Web Server(IIS), but the
Web Server (IIS) role installation may fail. You could try run commande: aspnet_regii -enable –i.
