Cannot install sqldeveloper on windows7 OBI machine

Hi,
I need simple instructions on how to get sql developer to work on my laptop running windows 7.
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Russ,
Try opening a Cmd window and running ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe. That way any error messages will go to the console window and it will stay open for you to read it.
Usually downloading the 32-bit SQL Developer with the 32-bit JDK included works fine on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Just make sure you have write access to the \Users\<your_userid>\AppData\Roaming directory: that is where the user-related SQL Developer settings are typically stored (unless somehow customized) on Windows 7.

  • Cannot install sqldeveloper 64 bits on windows 7

I am trying to install SQL Developer on windows 7. I unzipped it under C:\program Files\sqldeveloper ok
    I run it as administrator
it asks for the path to java.exe, so I provided it and I get Cannot Find J2SE SDK installed
I searched and found that there are 2 common issues:
    1. the JDK is not 64 bits
    2. The path is for JRE and not JDK
I installed the following 2 files:
    sqldeveloper64-3.1.07.42-no-jre.zip -> 64 bits SQL Developer
    jdk-6u31-windows-x64.exe -> 64 JDK
So my question is how can I verify that I have the right files? What file is the SQL Dev looking for so I can search it.
How can I re-validate that my software (both, SQL Dev and JDK ) are 64 bits besides the name of the installation files.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you have searched, possibly you came across this post:
Re: Unable to start Oracle SQL Developer
Note that on Windows 7, any installer conforming to Windows rules will install 32-bit software into C:\Program Files (x86)\ and 64-bit software into C:\Program Files\. Since SQL Developer installs via a simple unzip, if you wish to install both versions on a 64-bit Windows OS, it is best to follow that rule also to prevent becoming confused about which one is which.

  • Cannot Install XP on Windows 7 machine

Finding Windows 7 a pain in the neck to use after XP plus I need to connect to some analogue equipment using software that does not work under Windows 7. I decided to install Win XP Pro, however Win 7 blocks the installation so I formatted the Windows partition assuming that a clean install would be straightforward. The installation gets as far as the "Installing Windows" stage and blue screens. My plan now is to install the hard disc in a dock and wipe it, anyone had similar issues?
    Milton Hey

My issue is the same as seen in this discussion, but I found no resolution herein so will provide replies to the posed questions above in hope of a response:
My high-end laptop came with Vista (at the end of the Vista age) but since then I've upgraded it to Win7 Ultimate, and set aside a partition/unallocated space for installing XP into.  Therefore in short answer, I am trying to parallel install XP on
another partition.  I considered but have not removed Win7 and tried a fresh install of XP on a clean disk first because of fear of issues with my 7 registration already being submitted.
There are no external harddrives; BIOS has been reset.
DVD/CD is first in the boot order.
I place my XP disk in the machine and boot to it, but during the initial install process (never getting to disk/partition management) I get a frozen blue screen reporting:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
    *** STOP:  0X0000007E (OXC0000005, 0XF748E0BF, 0XF78DA208M, 0XF78D9F08)
    ***        pci.sys - Address F748e0bf ase at F7487000, DateStamp 3b7d855c
What do I need to do to get the machine to enable my installation of XP?
                   Thanks!

  • Cannot install steam under windows7 installed by boot camp

i just installed windows 7 using boot camp on my macbook pro retina
then i downloaded the steam installer and try to install
after installation, steam needs to update
and then while updating, it stopped and a message showed: 'steam.exe (main exception): to run steam, you must first connect to the network solution'
    can anyone help me?
is it the windows support software..?@@

The support software should be the first thing you install once Windows has fully booted for the first time.

  • Cannot Install OS X On This Machine

    Hey guys,
So, I bought a copy of OS X for the Installation DVD. I already have Tiger installed, but I threw away the original DVD that came with my iMac. (iMac 24" Core 2 Duo) I know, this is dumb, and a waste of money, but I don't think I had too many other options, and I needed to reinstall. I deleted the library folder to get my Safari tabs back to normal (which worked, believe it or not), but in the process, I also deleted all my fonts, widgets, etc. So...my only option was a reinstall.
So, this is where the reinstallation DVD comes into play. I inserted it, and I clicked on Install Mac OS X. I get this error (http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/3091/picture1cm1.png). So...I don't know what to do with it, but I read somewhere that holding C during boot-up boots from CD. I have tried this numerous times...to no avail. I have a Wireless Keyboard, which I thought could be the problem (maybe it wasn't loading initially), but I plugged in an external, and that didn't work either. Also...I should mention that holding Alt works just as usual. So...the next thing I tried was to change the Startup Disk in System Preferences. For some reason, the Install DVD isn't even an option! I have also tried Verify in Disk Utility, which tells me to repair (http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/6725/picture1pj0.png), so I try to repair (http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/4883/picture3oe2.png). Wow...seems very screwed up to me.
Guys, I truly have no idea what to do here, I would appreciate any and all help! If you need more information, be sure to ask.

    You're welcome.
This wouldn't be illegal for you since you have no way of knowing if the seller has removed this copy of OS X and iLife from their computer which is obviously very doubtful.
This person could wind up in the same boat as you - wanting or needing to re-install something or perform an Archive & Install or an Erase & Install, etc. which I don't understand for the sole purpose of recovering what amounts to a few bucks.
Even though you found an Intel iMac restore package, it must also include the identical build as the install package that shipped with your iMac model when new.
So I suggest that you quit wasting your time and more money on eBay trying to purchase a replacement install package for your Mac that includes an identical build required for your Mac and do as Neil suggested by contacting AppleCare explaining your situation. You should be required to pay a shipping and handling fee only and even if you are required to pay full price (which is doubtful), you will be assured that you are getting the correct install package for your Mac.

  • Cannot install Lightroom 5 on Windows machine

Hi, I have saved the download .exe file, but when I launch it to download Lightoom onto my machine, the download stops just before it is done with no error message.  I already have Lightroom 3.6 on my machine, so I purchased an upgrade.  I contacted Adobe support, but they couldn't figure it out, even after taking over remote control of my machine.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, thanks to the people who responded to my question.  After spending over 2 hours online with Microsoft Support last night, I now know it was an issue with Windows 7 and not Lightroom.  It is working now.
Could you share with us what the issue was, and how you fixed it, so we can be better informed?

This means that you were able to start the Windows 7 installation process and the issue isnt related to wrong BIOS settings.
What driver has been mentioned in the error message?
Did you try to boot from original Microsoft Windows 7 disk?

  • Test Manager cannot install Test Agent on selected VMs (trying to create a new environment)

I am trying to create a new SCVMM environment.
I picked a bunch of VMs that are up and running.
I know the administrator credentials for these VMs (It's the same for all of the chosen VMs)
I have a test controller on my dev machine which is also up and running.
But I'm getting an error in the Verification step saying -
"Microsoft test manager cannot install test agent on these machines. Possible causes:
    - Machines are not running or they are not available on the network.
    - The File and Printer sharing exception is not enabled on the machines."
I have done the following -
    1) Disabled firewalls on all the machines
    2) Network Adapters on all the machines are connected (ON) and their drivers are up to date
    3) Enabled file and printer sharing exceptions on all machines
    Still getting the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a bunch!

That's probably a very well written description of what
you've done... it seemed refreshingly thorough. I'm on the verge of
a cold or something, with a slightly fuzzy brain, so what I thought
I read seemed to describe you've done just about everything
correctly, except for one thing (maybe another)... If you gave the
    button the instance name stepin...
    stepin.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,
    mouseDownHandler);
and you could/should change that from MOUSE_DOWN to CLICK
If that's not the problem, then it is possible the issue
arises due to the tween. Be sure to have the button instance name
assigned at both ends of the tween (I'm assuming by classic tween
you mean a timeline tween). For some reason objects don't like to
give up some of their past life's properties when moving from one
frame to the next, so if the beginning of the tween doesn't have an
instance name, then it's likely that it stays that way when it
reaches the other end despite you assigning the name there.
PS - for the stepin button, if you haven't already done so,
you should open it for editing and draw a rectangle in the 4th
(Hit) frame that covers the entire area of the text. It will not be
visible, but will allow clicking between letters in the button...
making it easier to click on

Hi All, I have two questions. First of all my CS3 is saying that it is installed on more than one machine, is there a way of seeing what machines my serial number is registered to? If i want to buy another CS3 serial number how do i go about it? I cannot afford to move to the creative cloud.....

there's no way for you to identify which machines have or had cs3 activated, and you can no longer purchase a cs3 license from adobe.
you can request an activation count reset (Contact Customer Care) and deactivate your cs3 on all your computers.  you can then install and activate on up to two computers.

  • Cannot install Yosemite as it keeps telling me both my internal and external drives are time machine backups

Cannot install Yosemite. Keeps telling me that both my internal and external
drives are backing up with TIme Machine. Any suggestions?

Is it actively backing up, or are you encountering a dialog stating that Yosemite cannot be installed because the disk is being used for Time Machine backups?
Read OS X: Cannot install on a volume used by Time Machine for backups
If for some reason you have a folder called Backups.backupdb at the root level of the hard disk on which you want to install Yosemite, move it to the Trash.

  • I have a MBP running Mountain Lion. Tried to install Mavericks, but it keeps telling me that my disc is used as time machine backup, and cannot install Mavericks, any help appreciated

I have a 2011 MBP running Mountain Lion. Tried to install Mavericks, but it keeps telling me " cannot install Mavericks because disc is used for Time Machine backup". I tried disabling TM by issuing the command in console " sudo tmutil disable local". Still no luck. Is there a way of erasing all the time machine backups from my system disc?
    Thanks.

Thanks Matt. I tried erasing the "Backups.backupdb" folder. It does not allow me to do that, inspite of "sudo"-ing. I ended up installing Mavericks on another disc, and use disc migration assistant to transfer my data, before swapping out the old disc from the MBP.

How to install Snow Leopard on Macbook Pro? keep getting msg- cannot install Internal HD is used for Time Machine- this was reset to external HD and still get msg?

At some point, your internal HD was selected for use as Time Machine backups, and a Backups.backupdb folder was created at the top level.   So OSX thinks you're trying to install it on the same drive as your backups.
Open your internal HD with the Finder (you won't find it via a Spotlight or Finder search) and delete that folder.
