Cannot print using ShellExecute("printto) by Reader X (10.1.2)

Hello,
My application performs printing PDF documents using Adobe Reader by calling ShellExecuteEx(..., verb:="printto", ...).
It succeeds printing if Reader 8.3, 9.5 is installed. When Reader Reader 10.x is installed call to ShellExecuteEx succeeds also, however:
If Protected Mode is enabled, AcroRd32.exe is launched properly (broker & sandbox), but no print job is submitted in to printer's queue;
If Protected Mode is disabled, document is printed as properly.
Important note: OS is W7-32, ShellExecute is launched in session 0, account is not LocalSystem.
AdobeReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_92870.exe doesn't help.
Is it possible to print files using ShellExecute(Ex) when Protected Mode is enabled?
Thanks in advance.
Alexey

Sorry to Alg1976, my answer is non-sensical.  I attempted to use the above tool to put back the "printto" verb information in the registry.  No dice.
One thing I can say, I am experiencing the same phenomenon in Windows XP and Reader X (10.1.3).
I use ShellExecuteEx with the "printto" verb and I get no errors either, but no document shows up in the selected printer's queue.  It was working fine in 9, but not in 10, and I haven't seen any way to fix it.  However it was suggested I write my own DDE conversation so that I could make use of the changed Application Server Name (from "acroview" to "acroviewR10").
If you solve this problem, can you post here what you did?
I keep wondering if somehow my Reader 10 installation was faulty.  I will explore that possiblity.

  • I have downloaded Mountain Lion and Time Machine says that my Free Agent Goflex (Seagate) external 2gb drive cannot be used as it is read only. I tried disc utility to repair permissions but that block is greyed out. The disc verifies as being OKI

Since installing Mountain Lion, Time Machine says says that my Free Agent Goflex (Seagate) external 2gb drive cannot be used as it is read only. I tried disc utility to repair permissions but that block is greyed out. The disc verifies as being OKI What next?

Ok, I solved this problem! I ejected the drive and then disconnected it both from the power supply and the USB connector. I then reconnected everything and powered it up again and Then went into TM preferences and chose the drive as the backup. TM did a new backup (well over an hour) and now works as advertised.

  • I cannot print using to HP 1025n using Mavericks

I have recently upgraded my Mountain Lion to Mavericks and it works smoothly. I can see all my printers there including HP 1025.
However, when I tried to print either using wifi or direct, it only said printer paused in printer dialog box. No matter how many I resume, it will always stopped.
I have read so many forums and had run ASU and no more update available, yet, my printer still can not print.
I am using single wifi connection and I can re-add printer but once successfull, still it cannot print anything.
    Any clue?
    Thank you..

First attempt to empty the print queue.  IF that doesn't work download the HP drivers from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907
And if that doesn't work, see my page* for open source drivers.   I would also report to
    Apple - Support - Feedback
    that
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 needs to be updated to say your printer doesn't work in Mavericks if the update from DL907 doesn't work,
as it suggests that it should if you keep up with the Apple downloads for the drivers.
Printer related issues are not model specific, but driver by operating system specific.  In the future always post on the operating system board if you have issues with printing, not the MacBook board.

  • Cannot save, cannot print PDF form in Adobe Reader 9

I downloaded a PDF form for an application from the internet. It opened in Adobe Reader 9, where I was able to fill out information in the PDF. Some areas required a scroll bar for long lists of information. Now, I cannot save the PDF or else all of my information disappears!! I cannot print the PDF, because all of the information is not immediately visible, due to scroll bars. It only prints what is immediately visible.
I need help - I cannot save, print, or exit out of this form that I have filled out multiple times at this point from attempts to Save.

What means "cannot"; what happens when you try?

  • Cannot print using HP Officejet 7000

Have just purchased an HP Officejet 7000 and find I cannot print from Firefox. Works OK with Internet Explorer and all other programmes.

Thank you for your help. When I try the "reset firefox printer setting" and type "print" in the search field, I get the settings for the two previous computers and the current one. If I type "print-printer", I get a blank page. Also the menu button disappears. If I click on the setting, "delete" is not one of the options. If I try to"reset all firefox printer setting" and click on "show folder" under application basics, a list of files and folders opens. the prefs.js file is only 23KB (JScript Script File) long and cannot be opened, so I cannot remove any lines that start with "print".

  • Cannot print using wireless

I am sure this is a simple fix but I am unable to print using the wireless. Lap top uses system for internet but when trying to print I get "Printer is currently off-line". I have an imac hardwired into the wireless and the printer is plugged into that. Can you help?

Yes you made it very clear. At least for me. On the iMac go into System Preferences/Sharing - make sure Printer Sharing is checked and on.
Turn printer off and disconnect the printer from the usb slot. Wait a minute a two and then reconnect printer to the usb slot & turn printer on.
Repair permissions and restart your computer. You should now be able to print wireless with your Macbook Pro.

  • HP Deskjet 3550 cannot print using Airport Extreme via USB connection on Windows 7 64 bits

Product Name and Number: HP Deskjet 3550 Inkjet Printer
Operating System installed: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits
    Error message: None
Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: Setting up HP printer using Airport Utility to add a new printer and installed Bonjour Print Wizard.
Problem: My printer is already set up using Airport Utility. When I print something, the printer doesn't do anything. Is there something I haven't done lately in order to get this printer working using my wifi router?
Suggestion #1: Are the print jobs getting stuck in the print queue? You can check this by clicking on the printer icon in your task tray by the clock.
Error Message #1: Yes, the print job got stuck in the print queue, but the moment, it disappeared from the print queue and the printer doesn't print at all. This is frustrating.
Suggestion #2: Does the printer work as expected if you connect it directly to the PC via USB?
Error Message #2: Yes, the printer works if I connect it directly to my PC via USB, but I don't understand why it wouldn't work with the wifi router, though.
Suggestion #3: This has to do with the way the router handles the connection to the printer. I found another thread, regarding this issue, and it has some information that may help resolve it.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Print-Problem-Using -USB-Printer-on-Airp...
If that does not help, I would recommend posting on the Apple forums, as they may have more expertise with the router's abilities:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport
Error Message #3: After clicking on the first link that you posted, it was very helpful, but the printer couldn't print completely and somehow it would stop at the quarter of a paper. It looks incomplete when I took it out from my printer. It does that every time.

    UPDATE!
Problem solved!  So this is just a followup in case someone else ever stumbles into these boards with the same or similar problems as mine, that is, trying to run an HP Deskjet D1500 series printer [mine's a D1520] on an Airport Extreme wifi router's USB port as a network printer [with the Airport Extreme controlled by an ancient G4 PowerMac Quicksilver currently running OS X 10.4.11).
Although it probably SHOULDN'T matter, since this type of printer works fine with just the Tricolor cartridge as shipped when hooked up directly to a computer's USB port, on a hunch I got a black HP cartridge (that's a type 21, not type 22 as I had earlier said), slapped it in, tried a test page, and all's well.  So, we can call off the technoid hounds.  Everything running perfectly.
I hope this message in a bottle may help someone else out there some day soon who may be scratching his or her head with a similar stumper.  And just to recap those important Windows printer settings, they are:
    * [Printer Properties--> Ports--> Add New Port...] "Standard TCP/IP Port"
    * [Configure Port] IP Address "10.0.1.1" and Port "9100"
    Best of luck!

What is the behavior that you are seeing? Are you getting some error or is it simply failing to print with Reader 10.1.2.

When doing a quick print with a right click on the pdf attachment, it will print.
Also, please let me know that if a simple Right Click > Print operation is working, then what exactly is the operation that is failing.

  • Cannot print from IE11 with adobe reader 9.4.2

When we open pdf files within IE11 and try and print, the printer properties box becomes unresponsive.
we need to crash IE to resolve it, but are unable to print.
we cannot upgrade Adobe Reader as we have another application which doesn't work with anything higher.
I saw there was a workaround for adobe acrobat, but we need a fix for reader if possible
changing the setting in adobe to open the pdf in it's own window is not a solution for us either

No difference in output using the latest version.
We are printing to Xerox WorkCentre 7425/7435 printers. When printing from a full version of Adobe Acrobat the advanced button of the Print Driver popup has check options for Marks under Marks and Bleeds while printing from Adobe Reader does not.

  • Cannot print duplex with adobe acrobat reader 9.1.3 on centos 5.3

    Hi,
I am managing some linux servers for users and I am using Centos 5.3 and acrobat reader 9.1.3 appears not able to print duplex
I tried multiple documents on multiple printers (configured via cups).
Thing is that evince (http://projects.gnome.org/evince/) does print duplex without issue. But some users need the advanced features of Adobe reader.
Document type properties print dialog box default is set to duplex mode "simplex", but they are not changeable, even not when acroread was started as root.
And the individual printer settings are set for duplex.
All that acrobat reader 9.1.3 prints out is simplex (single sided printed).
I looked for config files in /etc, but could not find it, would be nice if this could be set in a conf-file in /etc
    Thanks,
    Joost

  • Cannot print crop marks in Adobe Reader 9.4.2, 10.1

Printing from an A4 pdf to A3. Using a full version of Adobe 7 or 9.42. the crop marks appear but using Adobe Reader 9.4.2 and up no crop marks appear. Show art, trim, & bleed boxes is ticked. Does Adobe Reader print these marks?

  • Cannot print using Bonjour 1.03

This iMac is connected to a HP LaserJet 1022 via USB. My wife uses a Dell desktop and now wants access to the Laserjet. So I have installed Bonjour on the Dell and it has identified the Laserjet connected to this iMac. But when attempting to print a document nothing happens
The strange thing is, if I view the list of completed jobs in system preferences/print & fax/print queue, the doc's that I have attempted to print from the Dell are listed as completed/finished.
The UDP port is open on the Dell and sharing for printer and windows is set up. Any ideas???

This may not be good news but, if you are using Windows Vista on the Dell laptop, then I can sympathise with you. For the past 6 weeks I have been trying to send a print file from a Toshiba Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium via a MAC wireless network to an iMac running OS X 10.4.9 which has an HP 2410 connected to it by USB.
The Toshiba shows print jobs running & completed but there has been absolutely nothing happening on the iMac. Investigation of the Network shows Port activity from the Toshiba to the iMac so there are quite a few files floating in cyberspace.
(Another laptop running windows XP Pro can easily use the same network to get print jobs to the iMac which then prints them OK on the HP 2410. This can be done using Bonjour or not using Bonjour - details on the iFelix website.)
Delving deep into Vista Windows Registry seems to indicate a bewildering set of conflicting security permissions irrespective of what is set globally. The Toshiba is new & came pre-loaded with Vista. I just wish I'd bought an XP Pro machine; it had to be a Windows machine for school compatibility otherwise I'd never even give Windows a second glance.
