Cannot rename computer "owner"

A female friend of mine just got divorced and, for reasons most people would understand, she would like to remove her married name ( call it Jane Jones ) from her Apple laptop and return it back to her pre-married name ( call it Jane Smith ). She has a PowerBook G4 with 10.3.9. Her machine is configured for a single user / admin.
In System Preferences -> Accounts it is easy to change the label for the Sys Admin, and that successfully changes the displayed name ( Jane Jones -> Jane Smith ) when the login window appears after a restart. ( She is OK leaving the 'short name' alone as she is not concerned with the details of the underlying Unix OS ).
However, even though the user names have been successfully updated ( displaying Jane Smith as the admin along with the 'Other' account ), it still shows "Jane Jones's computer" ( wrong name ) as a label just under the "Mac OS X" title in the login window. How does she change this label ?

The Computer Name is changed in Sharing preferences. If she wants to change the name on her Home folder (the shortname) then she will need to download the utility, ChangeShortName - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - and use it to make that change. She cannot simply rename the Home folder.

Now, the original post also said there was a need to rename the computer object n AD. Below are two functions I use primarily for moving AD objects into their appropriate OU home. While that doesn't immediately answer the question or solve the
problem, I do believe you can rename the object you bind to using a very similar method.

Cannot Rename in Bridge

Suddenly I cannot rename or even delete RAW files downloaded from the camera card. I have checked and have the latest versions of Bridge and Photoshop CS6. I am running Windows 7 in 64 bit. I have no problem opening the files through ACR. If I look in Windows>Computer and alter the files names manually even by a adding one letter, I can then do all the normal things in Bridge - Batch Rename, Delete etc. This is a real pain as I can shoot several hundred images in a day and I don't want to change each one manually in Windows. Can someone help please?

I always use a card reader. The Lumix uses SDHC cards and I have tried two cards with the same result. My Nikon uses CF cards and I have downloaded successfully through a different slot in the same card reader. I don’t have a second card reader for SDHC cards. However, I have now discovered another twist to the situation.
I download a file but cannot delete or rename in the same folder. I can rename to a different folder but still cannot delete or rename in the same folder. I go into Windows>Computer and rename by adding another letter to the file name. Now I have full control of the file in Bridge. HOWEVER, if I rename back to the original name in Bridge I am back to the beginning again. I cannot delete or rename in the same folder. It seems like it is the name that locks it. This is not just the original file name from the camera, it also applies to the new name when Bridge has renamed it to another folder.

Charge overnight with the charger that came with the iPad. Then, connect to the computer and determine if you can sync.
Charging from the computer is "iffy" as many USB ports (especially on Windoze machines) do not put out sufficient current to charge the iPad.

We have domain on 2 DC`s(1 is GC and the 2nd is DC(Server 2008r2 ent)), Sometimes we need to replace old computers to the new ones. But they have to to be named like the old ones. So sometimes after removing old comuter from the AD, we still have an error
message "Can`t rename, computer account is already exists" where else should we remove it????????

Let's try the following:
- configure the other domain controller as a Global Catalog - this should be the case in a single-domain forest
- force the garbage collection by following http://blogs.technet.com/b/ad/archive/2009/03/24/taking-out-the-trash.aspx
Check the list of deleted objects again afterwards.
If this does not provide the resolution, restore the tombstone of one of the deleted computers (followhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.tombstones.aspx ),
rename it , and delete it

i`ve tried all of that except, configuring other Dc as GC, i ve found an article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc737269(v=ws.10).aspx it
says that nothing would happen if two DC`s will be GC`s, but it vad not been written that this article aplies to win2008r2 only to earliests OS`s, so i`m affraid if something wrong will happen if i will promote another DC to GC, or i`m wrong??!
I couldn`t force garbage collection, but i`ve enabled log as you said, and it seems to be no trouble with it....
about the restoring tombstone.... i ve stuck on the step when i should search the deleted object, because search result "getting 0 entries"

SYS is like root/system admin for the database. It has to distribute jobs according to specific purpose. SYS could have been the owner of RMAN catalog but it does not make sense to keep it with SYS objects as it is easier to find all related catalog tables in a separate schema rather than combing with any other sys/system schema. The choice is logical.

Cannot rename applications in Ver 9.2

I tried to rename an application and received the following error: Error 1056028 Cannot rename data mining objects from database. Has anyone had trouble renaming applications using version 9.2? If someone from Hyperion sees this and could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The error you are receiving is caused by either the $DM_APP$ application/database directory is missing or corrupt. This application is an Essbase internal application. Here is what you need to do to correct the issue. 1. Shut down Essbase 2. Rename essbase.sec to essbasebackup.sec 3. Rename $DM_APP$ directory, e.g., mv DM_APP Backup_$DM_APP$ if it exists but if it doesn't do not worry about it. 4. Restart Essbase. At this point, a new essbase.sec is created,along with a new $DM_APP$ directory and files associated withit. 5. From EAS, make sure Data Mining part is working 6. Shutdown Essbase 7. Rename essbase.sec to essbasenew.sec 8. Rename essbaseold.sec to essbase.sec 9. Start Essbase 10. Check to make sure Data Mining part is working 11. Try renaming application 12. Cannot rename or delete folder on a shared drive

I'm having an issue where I cannot rename or delete a folder on a shared drive. I am the creator of the folder and there are no files in it. This is not the first time this happened and usually later in the day I am somehow able to then rename it. This issue is driving me crazy, any help is greatly appreciated.

In Finder highlight the drive. Then type Command I (I as in Ivan) you will see a dialog box, at the bottom of the box is the permissions. Change the permissions as needed.
Also how is the EHT formatted? This info will also be in that dialog box. If it's not formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then it probably wasn't set up to be used with OS X and is formatted for use with MS Windows.

I close PDF file, but cannot rename in Windows Explorer -- file in use error

After viewing a file in Acropbat X Standard, I save and close the file (but leave Acrobat open).
If i try to rename the file in Windows Explorer, it fails and reports this error:
Cannot rename <filename>.pdf: The file is in use by the following program: Adobe Acrobat.
The only way to release the lock is to close Acrobat.
Any solutions? I frequently have several PDF files open at the same time and do not want to close the tool just to release one file lock.

Been having the same issue here with Acrobat X. Plus, often can't even delete the file after closing Acrobat entirely. It is Acrobat that will not release the file back to Windows.
Only thing that resolves this here, in order to be able to delete the file, is to log user off/on or reboot Windows. Crazy making.
Would be great if Adobe could patch this up. Acrobat X is an expensive program and would be a nice gesture to customers if they fix this.

Lightroom 5, Folders Pane. Trying to rename a folder having subfolders. The system replies with " Cannot rename or move folder xxxx"? What to do? Delete this setup, start all over again in Wind 7 and import new arrangement to Lightroom?

Little antenna is still intact. Everything looks good on that part. If I take it out the bars go grey. Yes this system was working fine with very good download speeds up to 1mb/sec (usually 400 to 700 kbps) up until a few days ago.

I have recently updated my appleTV software. Since the update I can no longer use appleTV to play my music or view my photos on TV. I have home sharing turned on in iTunes and on appleTV. I receive an error "cannot connect to Owner's library". Has anyone else experienced this issue?

we had got the same problem. In the end we:
- Installed RS on the same machine of BPC (Application Server) (please be careful to make a new db if you want to use the same DB Server)
- Configured correctly the server manager to point the new ReportServer
- Edited from SQL Server Management Console the tblAppSetInfo, in order to make the column of the ReportServer of all Application Sets to point to the new report server.
- (not sure was needed) rebooted and restarted all the services
- Tested it and it worked!

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

I had the same problem, following is what I did to solve my problem, hope it helps. I posted this on another thread.
Just got my ATV3 talking to iTunes again, I can see my library and the airplay is working again.
Here is what I did, I'm using a Win 7 pro system, not sure about Mac's but the problem could be related.
The culprit was Bonjour, I went to control panel>administrative tools>services>Bonjour service, from there I right clicked and selected properties. Selected startup type then disabled, click apply, then set it back to automatic, apply again. Not sure if this helped but I then selected stop and restart several times (located upper left). Rebooted, started Itunes and ATV, there it was all back to normal.
