Cannot share window xp 32-bit hp c5500 printer with windows 7 64-bit laptop

I am trying to connect my HP laptop running windows 7 64-bit with the home network printer hp Photosmart C5500 running on desktop windows XP 32-Bit, but could not get  it working. It shows up in the printer control panel.

Do you receive any errors?
Also, have you installed the Windows 7 64bit drivers on your Windows 7 system?
How specifically was the printer added to the Windows 7 system?  Was it through automatic discovery or was it browsed for manually?

  • I cannot share photos via my hotmail account but works with Gmail

    Can anyone help?
I have been using my hotmail account to send/share photos on iPhoto. Recently I cannot share photos via my hotmail account but works with Gmail?
What do I need to do to get the hotmail account working again?

In iphoto I select the photos to send, click on share and email. I setup the email in iphoto and iphoto sorted out all the pop3 & SMTP settings all i had to do was put my email & password in. Since its gone wrong I have got an ipad but no changes to my email settings.
I have been looking at the 'mail' which is also setup for hotmail and I can't send emails from there either so i don't think there is a problem with iphoto.

  • Cannot share windows PC

    Hi all,
Have a problem that suddently started happening a week or so ago. I have a number of devices on my network - including the following:
2 x intel iMacs (brand new machines)
    1 x Windows Vista PC
    1 x Macbook Pro
    1 x Windows XP Notebook
    1 x WDTV Media Player
Up until recently I have had the Windows Vista PC connected as a shared device on my main iMac. It would come up in shared devices in the Finder window. Recently, I noticed that it is no longer there and I cannot connect to it through my iMac. I am using a netgear N wireless router (the iMac and PC are connected with Cat 6 cable to the router, however).
When I login to the network through the router tools page, I can see all of the connected devices and my WDTV media player can connect to my PC. Unfortunately, I can't seem to connect to the PC from my iMac at all. I have tried 'connect to servers' using both the name of the computer and the PC address, but still no luck.
Anyone able to assist with this problem?
    Cheers

Here is a workaround I found. I had to set up a workgroup for the PC and AirPort Extreme. Here's what to do.
First, determine the workgroup that your Windows PC is on. To do so, Right Click on My Computer and select Properties from the pop-up menu. Click on the Computer Name tab. Look nest to the Workgroup label to find the workgroup name. Remember it or write it down.
Next, go to AirPort Utility (on Mac, Applications->Utilities->AirPort Utility; on PC, Start->All Programs->AirPort->AirPort Utility). On the menu bar select Base Station->Manual Setup. Go to the Disks screen and click on the File Sharing Tab. There are settings at the bottom for Windows File Sharing. Put the Workgroup from your PC in the Workgroup box and click the Update button at the bottom.
Back on the PC, open My Network Places. In the Explore bar on the left , under Network Tasks, click View Workgroup Computers. There should be at least two items shown, your PC and the AEBS. Mine is called Officetation-fa. I have no idea why, yours is probably different. Double click the icon for the AEBS (whatever it may be called) and it should show your USB drive. Again, this is a workaround , not very glamourous.

  • Cannot Install windows 8.1 on laptop

Ok so I got robbed but the police were able to get my stuff back which includes my laptop. So now I cannot log on to windows. There is now a password needed when I turn on my computer. I figured out how to get past that and finally logged in. But now the os is corrupt I cannot do anything so I did a factory reset. I also bought a windows 8.1 update disk and tried to update my computer but now the computer does not recognize that there is a disk in the drive. I tried to enter the bios but there is now another password needed to get into the bios? This password I can't figure out all I want to do is install 8.1 can somebody help me?

    Hi @danielsan_1969 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook and issues with a installing from the CD drive. Here is a link to perform a clean install of Windows 8.1. The section is marked Clean install with a DVD or USB Flash Drive.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Here is a link that Microsoft provided on forgotten passwords. Maybe this will help.
Here is a link to change the boot order, once you get into the BIOS if you need it.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot print wirelessly from Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop to Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n)

The printer is a HP Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n) and is connected via usb to a Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop and the laptop has Windows 7 (64 bit) loaded.
No changes were made that I'm aware of other than the usual Windows updates.
Server is offline is displayed next to the printer icon on the laptop when printing is attempted.
The wireless network test report shows no problems.
I have rebooted the desktop and printer with no success.
The laptop used to print wirelessly without a problem.

I am not sure the Officejet 6000 can have both the wireless and USB ports active at the same time.  You could try disconnecting for the USB cable and then power cycling the printer and trying to connect wirelessly.  If you have the desktop connected to a router that also provices wireless capability you could connect the desktop with the network connection.
One other thing you might consider is sharing the printer on your network from the desktop computer.  Next on the laptop computer do the following: go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then select HP (not Hewlett-Packard) for the manufacturer and select the appropriate HP Officejet 6000 series model.

  • Cannot Share Certain File Types...

I recently uploaded a MP4 file that I wanted to share with a friend. The video is mine from my camera with basic editing in Premier. I uploaded this and then I see “You cannot share this file type.”
After a looking through the other forums I came across this thread that says we cannot share video, music, and fonts. Hmmm....
There is this sentence on the Creative Cloud Website:
“When you're connected, you can do even more with Creative Cloud, thanks to online services for file sharing, collaborating, and publishing websites and documents.”
    Let us imagine:
I am a Video Professional who uses Premier to edit videos and the above blurb excites me. I sign up and make3 the most awesome video of my career. ( dream frequently) I do a bit of editing, viola! A finished project Time to share with my friend so they can confirm I'm a genius, okay? Since I have a website with Business Catalyst using the Creative Cloud I will put it there. Oh wait, BC cannot handle a file over 100mb and my Video is a few hundred megabytes. Well, I have Creative Cloud Storage online and it allows for sharing, wonderful! I upload the video, no issue, then go to share the video. WAIT! What is this? I cannot share a file that I CREATED? Why Not?
I can understand not wanting to get in trouble due to copyright law but you are a company that produces a program specifically for video editing (let us not forget Audition for Music/Audio editing.) I believed the pitch about Creative Cloud for professionals so they can create files and collaborate with anyone from anywhere. Yet there is that footnote: you cannot share video, music, or fonts. ?!?!?!? This is very limiting. If there are legal reasons why you cannot share the file types then say so. With MP4 there is a patent on the codec, and so we cannot share these files(?) but we can create them using Adobe Programs.
No worries I'll just zip my files to have my genius confirmed or denied.
Adobe, I would like to understand the reason for the block on allowing certain file types to be shared. With the disallowing of certain file types you severally limit the value of the Cloud. Also where is the list of blocked file types? Why did I have to find out the hard way that I cannot share videos? I cannot find a list or even a statement that those files are not allowed to be shared (other than a forum thread which is not the typical place those shopping for the service offered, would look).
Thank You, I think I need a chocolate bar now.

    Agreed Lynda.
There seems to be certain promises, which may give false impressions, in Adobe's marketing copy for the Cloud. Limitations of the Cloud are barely, if at all, mentioned,
I hope it's made a little more accurate one day.

  • Cannot share desktop - Lync 2013 server and Windows 8 (64-bit) client

Currently my new Lync server cannot share a desktop through a Lync 2013 client installed on a Windows 8 workstation. The client is patched up with the latest MS patches (much beyond the patch issues noted about a year ago, the patches in question do not
    even show up as installed).
I get the same "An error occurred during the screen presentation" message. I do have a NVIDIA video cards on the workstations, but they too are patched up. The same systems have no issues sharing desktop screens in the Lync 2013 client on Windows
8 systems when they are connected to a Lync 2010 server.
I have no idea where to go from here. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Did this issue happen to other Lync 2013 client?
As you mentioned that you can used the same Lync 2013 to sharing desktop screen when it connects Lync Server 2010 while you couldn’t share desktop screen when it connects to Lync Server 2013,
I think it is related with Lync Server.
Please check if you can find any errors on Lync Front End Server.
Check all Lync server services are all started.

All I can tell you is that I am having the exact same problem with an iPod Touch and that I was running iTunes 9.2.1.5 at the time it happened. Upgraded to 10.0.0.68 hoping that it might help, but no joy.
I don't want to do a restore just now since the Touch seems to be working fine. Restore will have to wait until I have plenty of free time in case something goes wrong.

  • Cannot install windows 8 on Pavilion Elite M9600T (KX745AV-ABA) with Vista 64 BIT

I cannot install windows 8 on my computer. I contacted Microsoft and he worked on it for three hours and said I had a graphics card driver problem.I am using a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT which came with the computer.  When I try to update to the latest driver (306.97) Which is on the Microsoft update site and also on the Nvidia site The screen says no signal and goes to sleep. I have been working with a Nvidia rep for a week now and he says it is not their driver that is causing the problem and that I should contact HP. I don't know what else to do. I removed the working Nvidia driver (SP41066) also and Tried to install windows 8 and recieved the same message "Windows installation was not successful" and returned me to Vista 64 Bit. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help or am I just out of luck. Thank you,

    You're welcome mrchips108
By the way up for one more go. I was finally able to find someone with a possible solution for you. the user yashoshah on the tomshardware forums had the problem:
"Windows installation was not successful. Your previous version of windows will be restored. Please do not switch off your computer during this time"
    SOURCE: Windows installation not successful
He fixed it by removing the HDMI cable and connecting to the monitor through DVI. After it was installed he went back to using HDMI.
How is your video card connected to the monitor: what cable and what interface is on the monitor and what interface are you using on the video card? Perhaps the Microsoft rep you spoke to was partly correct about the video card being the problem. It might be that the driver built into Windows 8 has a problem with certain configurations.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • Attempting to install cs6 on my windows 7 professional 32 bit laptop, ive downloaded it but when i go to install it it asks for my serial number which i put in but it sais it is a valid number but cannot find a qualifying product on this computer??? What

Attempting to install cs6 extended on my windows 7 professional 32 bit laptop, ive downloaded it but when i go to install it it asks for my serial number which i put in and then it tells me it is a valid number but cannot find a qualifying product on this computer?? What is the problem?

Normally you will be asked to provide the new prdouct serial number first, then when a qualifying version is not found you elect to provide that information and then select the version and provide its serial number.  If this is not how things are flowing for you then you should contact Adobe support directly thru chat and get their help resolving it.

  • Cannot share through "windows sharing" as a specific user

    Hello,
I am trying to share a user's folder on a Mac OS X workstation.
I am trying to use "windows sharing"
When going to "sharing", check the "windows sharing" option then choose "accounts".
The account that I am trying to share does not show up.
I tried to log on as a local administrator on the machine, and the user still doesn't show up.
    Restarting the machine doesn't help
The user I am trying to share its folder is an administator also.
Any idea why I cannot share that user's folder ?
    Thanks

Based on some research I think that the reason I could not do it was because the user is a "filevault" user.
A filevault folder is actually one big encrypted file.
When the user is not logged on, the encrypted portion cannot be shared since it is not unencrypted.

  • Cannot access windows shares with NTFS junction points

    Hi,
I upgraded to Mavericks and now I cannot access Windows shared where the folders are access through NTFS junction points. (NTFS junction points are like symbolic links to files/folders).
Regular shares are working fine and these shares are working on Windows PC's. I also tried before and after on another Mac Mini I have, so is definitatley something to do with upgrading to Mavericks.
    Thanks in advance
    A.

This is related to Apple's new SMB2 implementation in Mavericks.
Instead of connecting to your Windows share via SMB, connect via CFIS.  Note that I had to disconnect from Windows share, restart, and then reconnect with CFIS to get the NTFS junction points to work.
    From ZDNet:
You can also try forcing Mavericks to use the older SMB variant, Common Internet File System (CIFS). To do this, simply edit your server connection URL so that it uses CIFS. Use the Finder to choose the "Go" menu and select "Connect to Server..." (or just use command-K) and type "cifs://YourServerName" and hit Return; the server should mount. If it doesn't, try entering the share's designation as well, e.g. "cifs://YourServerName/YourDriveName."
[BE SURE TO RESTART AFTER DISCONNECTING FROM SMB SHARES AND BEFORE THE CFIS CONNECT TO MAKE SURE ALL ACCESS THREADS CLOSE!]

  • Cannot Install Windows 7

I have an Early 2008 MacBook Pro with 10.9.3 installed, that I have been trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  I have worked with several technicians from Apple but have not been able to resolve the issue.  I have worked on this on and off for several months and of course am somewhat frustrated.  I will give a detailed account hoping someone may have an idea.
I did previously have Windows 7 installed on this laptop but decided to reinstall after upgrading to 250GB SSD and installing memory up to 4GB.  I have confirmed with mfg of the SSD that the drive is compatible with both windows and mac and that there should be no problem with the configuration I am attempting.
I run the bootcamp assistant and select both "Download Windows Support Files" and "Install Windows" options.  The assistant downloads the files to a USB drive.  I set the partition to split equally.  I get a warning that the USB is bootable and the assistant needs to disable that to continue.  I click ok and then continue with the install.  The laptop reboots to the Windows installation media, which is original purchased media, not a burned copy.  The installation says that it cannot be installed on the BOOTCAMP partition because it needs to be installed on an NTFS partition, so I choose advanced, and format the partion.  The installation then continues.  The installation finishes and says that it needs to reboot.
This is when I have an issue.  The laptop reboots to a blank grey screen and thats it.  No further progress.  I have manually rebooted it several times and always get blank grey screen.  If I use option key to load boot manager I get the following options.  Machintosh OS, Windows OS, 10.9.2 Recovery, Windows (DVD), or EFI Boot.  Any selection other than Machintosh OS simply hangs.  The cursor is no longer movable and the boot manager is still displayed.  If I select Mac OS, it will boot back into OSX.
In OSX, I am able to examine the bootcamp volume (now named Untitled after having to format).  The disk does contain Windows files ($WINDOWS.~BT, $WINDOWS.~LS, Perflogs, Program Files, Program Files (x86), Users, and Windows) so it would appear that the installation did proceed and copied files to the drive.
I have attempted the install with both Windows 7 Pro 32bit and 64bit and both have the same problem.  I have even gone so far as to reinstall OSX back to 10.7 and run bootcamp from there, still have the same issue.  I have even tried reinstalling on my old original hard drive to see if SSD was the issue, run into the same problem on original drive as well.
It seems no matter what I have tried, after the windows install I can not get past blank grey screen when trying to boot to windows.
I am open to any and all suggestions.  Has anyone out there seen issues like this before?  Any ideas on how to correct?  I would love to have my bootcamp set back up.  Thanks!

Amilixkan, thank you for your suggestion although it sounds complicated and I can't believe that everyone would have to go through that process in order to get Windows running on a brand new Mac that has the latest version of Bootcamp and the support software. As with mjm50322's situation, I never even got to the Windows installer phase of the process so of course can't even boot Windows to try your suggestion.
However, in my specific situation, I'm wondering if, after creating the partition and restarting, my computer can't see my external optical drive even though it does show up in Finder when booted to OSX. After the restart, when I got the black screen with the blinking cursor, there was absolutely no activity on my external drive. I could feel the disc inside was spinning but there was no activity on the read LED on the drive and of course nothing happened on screen. So, your suggestion of using two USB drives, one with the Windows ISO file and the other for the Bootcamp software support files may be a good solution that I will try. That way I'm not relying on the optical drive. While on the phone with a senior Apple Support tech yesterday I already reverted my drive back to a single partition for the time being so I will look into repeating the process trying an ISO file instead of my Windows installation disc. I will report back. Thank you,
