Canon Powershot S95

Hi,
Does camera raw 6.3 supports Canon Powershot S95???

I've installed the 6.3RC on Lightroom 3, but it's still not recognizing the S95 CR2 images...
Is there any way to ask Lightroom if it's using the latest ACR, or anything that must be done to tell it to use the release candidate?
I can't wait to begin using a RAW workflow with the wonderful S95 instead of JPEG.

  • DNG Converter won't recognize Canon Powershot S95 CR2

I've just installed the latest version (6.2) of DNG Converter. When I point it to a small directory (5 files) of .cr2 files from my Canon Powershot S95, it gives me the following message:  “The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.”  It works fine with .nef files from a Nikon D80.  I notice that the list of cameras in the Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Adobe/Camera Raw/Camera Profiles folder includes the S90 but not the S95.  Is there really a difference between the files produced by the two, or am I making a mistake somewhere?

    Thank you.

  • Canon Powershot S95 video und raw compatibility

I'm considering to buy a Canon PowerShot S95 camera. Does anyone already have experiences how well this camera works together with the iPad and the camera connection kit? Will the photo app display the S95's RAW files? And will the iPad play back 720p videos from this camera when transferred with the camera connection kit (not via iTunes sync)?

I have the S90 (and two Panasonic MFT-cameras) and there are no problems to import the RAW-files to my iPad using the Camera Connection Kit.
I always do that when I travel and I use Lightroom to transfer them to my iMac at home and that too works fine.
All in all I don´t need to bring my MacBook to backup my pictures from my SD-card anymore. iPad takes care of that.

  • Can't open .CR2 files off of a Canon PowerShot S95 (LR3/PS cs5)

I just bought the new Canon S95.  I download pics off of a reader and usually go directly through LR.  This time, LR would only download the few Jpgs I had on the SD card and showed me "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
It does however show a Canon S95 as part of the info when viewing the jpegs in the library module.
I copied the files from the SD card to my hard drive via copy and tried to open the files in Photoshop and got the following error.  "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.  Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
I am running a MacPro with 8 G of ram and the current versions of LR3, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw.   I can see the thumbs of these raw files in finder where I placed the copies.  I have downloaded many .CR2 files from a Canon S40, S70, 20D, etc.  I'm lost.
    Thanks to all.
    Peace

That's silly.     The Adobe DNG Converter and ACR are always released in tandem and the same camera models are supported in each respective version.
If that camera is not yet supported in any version of ACR, it wll not be supported in any version of the DNG Converter either.

  • Canon PowerShot S95 or S100 good for Mac?

Wondering if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, with this camera on a MacBook or iMac with Snow Leopard. We need to buy one since our Sony DSC-P72 fell and broke.
    Thanks for your kind help.

If you mean the connection of the camera to the Mac to download pictures you shoud have no problem. Both cameras will for sure be seen by the Macs as external disc.  I have to say taht usually I prefer to take out the card ando copy the pictures from card to my Mac.
Than you can use iPhoto or other Software to organize and edit your photos on Mac and there will be no problem.
I do not know if this cameras also take raw. In that case also the raw files will be very probably seen by iPhoto or Aperture.   Canon also supply its own software to manage pictures: it should be also a Mac version.
I had an S80... no problem.

  • RAW support required for Canon Sureshot S95

Have just bought the new Canon Sureshot S95
after contacting Adobe support I am told Lightroom 3 does NOT support raw files for the
    Canon Sureshot S95.
Come on Adobe.....please provide an update asap.

I agree with hoping Adobe provides an update soon.  I check every day - I love my little S95.
    There is an interim solution.
Google exiftool by Phil Harvey  (free)
Its a command line editor and will allow you to change the model and camera in your S95  .CR2 file to S90, which LR3.2 will read.  It renames the original .cr2 file to .cr2_original and retains it, and names the creation .cr2.  It allows you to change the model and camera data to S90, which Lightroom 3.2 will read.  Works in batch mode.  Plus you can leave the originals in the same directory as LR3 will not attempt to read the .cr2_original files.
    The command line is
    exiftool -model="Canon PowerShot S90" -canonmodelID="PowerShot S90" FILE
where file is the individual name or batch
Try it on a test .cr2 file.  Only very slight downside is your EXIF file is tagged as an S90, and you have double the .cr2 files. (New .cr2 & .cr2_original)  You can later use a renaming utility to remove the _original if you so desire.
Seems to work just fine in LR3.2 tho still hoping the next update includes the S95.  This skips having to use DPP to convert to DNG.
Re worring about if you can read your RAW in 30 years.  First of all, you are using the RAW to adjust to a final jpg or tif correct?  Second, worry if your storage media works or exists in 30 years.  CD's & DVD's have finite lives (using expensive archival disks?) and hard drives....
    Hurry Adobe, we're waiting .

  • Canon Powershot 95

After working with Canon Kiss X2's RAW format, I didn't even think about an incompatiblity between CS4's software and the new powershot 95 I just purchased.  Does anyone know if and/or when an update will be made so I can view the CR2 files on Bridge CS4? Or point me where to look and or ask (I've been tooling around the support page for a while without finding anything useful, or a place to email adobe directly)?
    Thanks

You will never be able to open the raw files from that camera model directly in CS4.
That camera is not supported at all by Adobe software yet, and there will be no further updates to CS4.  If and when the camera is supported by a future release of Camera Raw, you will have a choice of either upgrading to CS5 (one would assume that the PowerShot S95 will be supported sometime before CS6 is released), or using a parallel, future version of the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your raw files to DNG files you can open in CS4.
Camera Raw and the DNG Converter are updated in an orderly fashion three to four times per year.  The latest version was released this week, so the next one will be it in three to four months from now.  Hope your camera will be supported then.

  • Can no longer play video from Canon PowerShot with QT Pro

Don't know what's changed. I have played these videos many times before. They were taken by my son who is active duty Navy overseas, so they are important to me. The "Movie Info" from QT says the format is: 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz/MJPG, 320 x 240, Millions. QT "Movie Properties" list MVI_0025.mov, but the Audio Settings and Presentation choices are greyed out. The Video Trach is shown as MJPG as you would expect. I can't "save as" or "export" so re-encoding is out. I'm at a loss here. Why they played before and not now is beyond me. They were added to my Hard Drive via Iomega's Floppy plus 7-in-1 card reader. The actual video was taken with a Canon PowerShot A510 and recorded to a SanDisk 512MB SD Card which I copied to my hard drive through the card reader with no problems. My G4 runs great with no problems. These videos were added to two logins which both fail to play now. Sound is fine. Anyone have any ideas how this could have happened or what to do?

    QuickTimeKirk,
Fortunately I can boot to OS9.2. The problem is that the OS goes so far back in time that I'm not sure I could figure out where to install a codec that would work. And I'm afraid the bigger problem is, where would I download the right codec? (In OS9 that would be a QuickTime plug-in, right?) I tried Classic, using QuickTime 5.0.2. No good. I get the standard message "Some necessary QuickTime software is missing. It may be available on the QuickTime Web site." I guess when I saw MJPG I was really thinking MJPEG and couldn't se why it wouldn't work. I see now that these are very different codecs. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I did some digging and I believe the codec needed came with QuickTime 2.5. Also, if it makes any difference, I neglected to say that I use Flip4Mac WMV. I don't see how that would adversely effect a video file with a MJPG format but I thought I should mention it. Thanks for responding!

  • Canon Powershot A75 no longer recognised by iPhoto after 7.1.3 (364) update

We have been importing photos from our Canon Powershot A75 to our iMac G5 (now running Leopard 10.5.2) for some time.
This morning an auto update for iPhoto was applied, taking iPhoto to 7.1.3 (364).
Now iPhoto won't recognise our camera at all. I've tried different USB ports. Made sure it is in photo playback mode. No joy.
    Any suggestions?

You might try reapplying the Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • On my canon powershot A3300IS the lense is stuck in the extended position and will not close

I have a canon powershot A3300 IS  the lense is stuck in the extended position and will not close. How can I fix this myself?

    Forneypamela,
Please remove the battery from the camera for a few minutes.  Then, put the battery back in the camera and power it on again.  If the lens is still stuck in the extended position, the camera is going to need service.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To start your repair process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.
If the camera is more than a year old, you may participate in the Canon Loyalty Program instead.  The Canon Loyalty Program option allows you to replace your current camera for a discounted fee, plus shipping.  The unit offered through this program carries a 90 day warranty.  The original non-functioning camera would then be returned to Canon USA for recycling using a prepaid shipping label that would be provided.
If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (800) OK CANON (800-652-2666) seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with online support and the Canon Loyalty Program was offered.  Be sure to have your serial number for your camera at the time of your call.

  • Iv'e upgraded my iMac to 10.6.8 and now microsoft office 2004 and my canon powershot camera software will not work. any suggestions?

I just upgraded my iMac to 10.6.8. Now my Microsoft office applications,(word, excel, ppt) and my camera software to transfer picts from my camera will not launch. (Separate apps but all stopped working as soon as I upgraded from 10.5.8). The software for the Canon Powershot is Ver.37.2. Image browser 6.2 EOS utility 1.1.  Any help would be appreciated.
Also if you could tell me what happens to the individual jpegs that get imported through iPhoto, I would go back to using that instead of the Canon software. I want to be able to go into a folder and see all the jpegs and not have to rely on iPhoto's one enormous file. What happens if that iPhoto file gets corrupt? Thanks, Leesha

Actually, Microsoft Office 2004 works fine with Snow Lepoard OS 10.6.x. However, it does require Rosetta, Apple's app for Classic apps. In your upgrade from Lepoard 10.5.8, Rosetta may not have installed but you can manually install it with the instructions here.
On another note, when upgrading the OS, some anomalies get resolved by repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
One more note, there was an issue with Rosetta crashing with OS 10.6.8 in February 2012. Apple released a security update that fixed it. You can see if Software Update (launch from the Apple menu) shows it or manually download Security Update 2012-001 v1.1 and install it. Software Update will also show other applicable apps available for updating for your upgraded system.
Rosetta is no longer available with OS 10.7 Lion and beyond. Then you will need to upgrade MS Office 2011 for Mac.

  • HT201317 Can I access my photos loaded onto my iPad 2 from a Canon Powershot on my iMac running 10.6.8?

I recently took approximately 300 pictures with a Canon Powershot camera during a 2 week vacation. During this time frame I put the photos onto my iPad 2 via an adapter and deleted them from my camera's memory card. Upon return my camera and iPad 2 were stolen. Fortunately I had Photo Stream on and the photos were stored in the cloud. I have since replaced the iPad 2 with the latest iPad and have the photos. I am now attempting to load them onto my iMac and am not able to do it. I am assuming because I have a 7-year old iMac running version 10.6.8 of Snow Leopard I will be able to access and properly store my photos. I am correct?

Save the photos to the camera roll on the iPad, then connect it to your computer with a USB cable. You can import the photos using iPhoto if you have it or image capture if you don't.
