Cant burn to cd, project folder now empty

Hi
I am back a week later with another question, even though I didn't get an answer on my last one, I managed to figure it out.
Tonite I played around with about an hours worth of video, editing it into a project. I then exported the project as a QT movie...it wasn't finished but I wanted to give it to someone in its incomplete stage.
I tried to burn it to a cd and couldn't find an option. Lst week I did the same thing, edited the project and made a little movie and exported and burned it to a cd....can anyone please help me understand what I might have done differently this time.
Second big problem, is that I went into imovie to finish up the things I needed to do and the folder is empty, the movie has escaped some how....what, again, could I have done to cause this and can I get it back....can I reimport the QT movie?
I am a complete novice, and really need someone's expert guidance.

Too late...I am an impatient girl tonite, I deleted the folder. The words Project Library do appear at the top left, but I don't see a button....what I did was re- import the movie from the QT movie (that i had just exported to my desktop) , and then moved all of the clips from the event library to the project library and that seems to have worked. Then I threw the folder in the trash.
I'm not satisfied with just getting my movie back (grateful yes, satisfied no), I really would like to know how I lost it in the first place (seems irresponsible of me, doesn't it) . I am going to have to export it again and I just don't want the same thing to happen all over again.
any hints on burning to cd....i have read other posts that say go to idvd for that, last time i burned a movie I didn't do that....I have no dvds only cds and I have never even accessed idvd, so I know it worked last week because I have a copy of the movie

Imported iMovie HD Projects are now empty folders!

I imported 3 of my old projects, edited some things, now I launch the app and my 3 projects are now empty folders! What happened!?

Ok, I just figured it out. My Imported projects had periods in their names. Went to ~/Movies/iMovie Projects/, and they were folder, not projecte files. So I ditched the periods and added ".rcproject"... restarted iMovie and they came back fine. Hope that helps someone....

Maybe a silly question... (size of project folder)

I have a small problem using xcode 4.
My project folder was about 30mb and I added some pictures to my project. After that it was aprox 110mb ( + 80mb).
Later in xcode I deleted the pictures again (remove incl references) and they were gone, as it should. But the size of the project folder stays the same 110mb !
I tried to delete everything in the folder, but even when the folder is EMPTY, it stays at this 80mb (size of the deleted pics), which I deleted from xcode. I know there are some hidden files but - why are they there, can I delete them and how I can delete them?

When I empty the project folder, the project is wiped out - this is correct. The folder then is empty, but OSX shows, the content of the folder (which is gone) has still a size of 80MB! So theres "nothing" with size of 80MB! Pure Magic! Interesting news for all scientists: "nothing" has the size of exactly 80MB.
I tried another thing: made a new folder, copied the project stuff there (the "visible" stuff was about 18MB only!) and take this as new project folder. XCode made some new indices upon first opening of the project and then it worked. The project-folder now is exactly as big, as the sum of all files into it, which is 18MB.

it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

I restored my bookmarks from a resent .json file, but one folder is now empty and one is missing.

Because of reasons my computer needed to be refreshed. My old firefox profile folder was saved though, and with that the bookmarkbackups. As the title says I restored my bookmarks from a resent .json file, but one folder (containing probably about a hundred bookmarks) is now empty and one other is missing completely.
In some places I have a 5 levels deep folder structure for my bookmarks, but since the folders missing are from different levels I don't think this is the problem.
The now empty folder contained six or seven other folders, that in turn contained a lot of bookmarks with titles including non-alphanumerical characters. †?|&*()<-/., to be precise. However, if I restore a very old .json (from september 2013) the folders are present and contain the mentioned bookmarks - albeit much fewer, since the file is old. A few other bookmarks still present also contain the mentioned characters, so this is probably not the problem either.
The folder that is completely missing just contained a lot of bookmarks that were to be sorted.
When opening the more recent .json files (I have a whole month of automatic backups to choose from) in the firefox scratchpad it would seem that the bookmarks are missing alltogether, so I suppose that there is not much to do about it (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I definitely want to report the bug.
Is there anything at all to do about it?

If the bookmarks aren't present in the JSON backup then it is likely that you got a corrupted places.sqlite file at some time that caused the backup not working properly.
Did you try all the backups?
Note that the xxxx part of the bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx.json file name shows the number of bookmarks in the file.

Why can't you do this? There's plenty of third-party software that can do the job. Download a few from
MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and try them out before choosing one to purchase.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I moved my FCP events and projects folder onto my external hard drive and now everything is gone on FCP. When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened. I still get the missing files image.

Brownale6 how can u reload folder in to FCP.
As you said folders are moved to external disk but have you checked it should be like this
For Event
external disk>Final Cut Events>your event folder.
For project
external disk>Final Cut Projects>your project folder.

Join the crowd. I was thinking of going back to a previous version, but had heard that could be a problem. Fortunately, I have more than one computer and things work fine there. I'm thinking it could be the burner in the problem computer, but it was working just fine before the upgrade...

Disk Utility Repair Disk Permissions now Documents folder is empty

After having trouble downloading a file (error message said disk was full but I had 12g free) I decided to try the 'Verify Disk' and then 'Restore Disk Permissions' actions in the Disk Utility application.
Now my 'Documents' folder is empty! No disk space has been freed up so I believe the files should still be there, I just can't see them. When I choose the 'Get Info' action on the 'Documents' folder it says 0 files.
Can anyone help? Please and thanks.

Use that to search your whole drive for some file you're missing, search for files only, include invisible files.
Or we could make the Finder show invisible Files & Folders by using Terminal &...
Open the terminal and type or copy/paste:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
Reverting to the default of NOT showing hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false
*Restart or Force Quit Finder* required to take effect.

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on 10.6.8 and now my Applications folder appears empty.

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on my iMac with 10.6.8. It found "spyware" in the form of a pixel ruler app I downloaded last year (it apparently had the "cowhand-c" trojan or something like that). I let Sophos remove it and after that, my Applications folder was empty. The list of applications still appear in the Applications folder in Finder Window SIDEBAR but not in the Applications folder itself. The status bar says "0 items." After using the "showAllFiles" command, I now see only ".localized" The following actions have had no effect: removal of Sophos, reboots, and a permissions repair.
As far as I can tell now, there is no impairment to the function of my iMac, but it's weird. Can this be fixed?

Disregard. Date display in Mail is also screwed up. It's time to use that Lion license I've had for just in case.
My Sophos Antivirus experience: very bad. A lesson has been learned: don't install what doesn't come from the App Store. This is why people say that some security software is as bad as the stuff you're trying to defend against.

Photoshop Elements 4 is too old. It was written for PowerPC Macs and will not work on new Intel Macs. There is nothing you can do about it.
