Cant find motion template folder?

I'm a final cut user and to download this effect i am using (i have done it before, but got a new computer with lion) and the instructions say
/HomeFolder/Movies/Motion Templates/Effects/SC_Effects_X/
I go to home, then movies then the only options are fcp events and projects and imovie events in projects. like i said before I have downloaded this before and I really need it back. Help?

You can create your own Motion Templates folder in the Movies folder and then create an Effects folder within it. Then add your downloaded effect in the Effects folder and FCP should see it. I don't know if you have Motion or not, but I believe when you install Motion it creates these folders.

I don't quite get this -- you're going to use Xsan and then share out the volume using AFP, and then edit the clips from within FCP on that?
I don't like it. Performance won't be good.
Especially with Xsan 1.2 -- 1.3 is a lot better with AFP resharing, but still, the point of Xsan with FCP is so you can edit "online," and online means over fibre.
I also don't like FCP 4.5 -- I'd suggest getting up to 5.1, if you're going to use it with Xsan.
Finally, I wouldn't suggest you run the AFP service on the MDC machine. Your setup isn't one I would consider optimal. I might not even call it adequate. I may be missing the big picture, but I'd say you're cutting enough corners to be heading for "whitewater."

Ca't Find Pages Template Folder

I have some templates that I am trying to migrate to my new mac but I can't find the template folder.
I am looking in: myaccount>Library>Application Support, but I can't seem to find the iWork folder.
I also looked in the system Library folder, there is an iWork folder, but no tamplate folder in there
I don't have any templates installed on the computer I am trying to migrate to.

Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The user's Library is hidden in Lion & Mountain Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.
The easiest way to create the template folder path to save a file as a template from within Pages. Your other option would be to copy iWork folder from Application Support in your user library on one Mac to the same location on the new Mac.

Is it possible to move the movie- motion templates folder to an external disc, my internal disc is almost full with just motion templates effects. What can i do and how?

Having problems creating folders in my motion template folder

trying to create titles and transition folder in my motion template folder for my plugins. fcpx and motion 5. it funny cause my generator folder shows my gen. plugins

I have the same problem. For example, create a folder called Images. Delete the folder. Now there is nothing in the folder. Try to create a new "Images" folder. It won't let you!
You can log out. Log in. Try from a different computer. You cannot use Images as a folder name again if you used it once and deleted it. Also, I tried to drag in a folder. Doesn't work. Getting frustrated with file management in Creative Cloud. It isn't intuitive. For example, how do you delete a file or folder? There is no trash can, no delete. You have to click on a checkmark that says "batch." I don't know about you, but why would anyone think to do a batch action on one file? Doesn't the name infer you're going to perform an action on several files? This is a basic UI flaw that needs to be addressed.
Also, if you have an updated file, or folder of files that need to go to the cloud, they cannot save over the current content. Without any user notification it creates a second folder, or a second file and numbers it. Now I'm confused. Did what I just uploaded get the number or was the original file numbered? Anyway, now I have two sets of files in the cloud and I'm left wondering which is which.
I feel like a beta tester and I'm paying $30 a month for the privilege! Please help!

How to find "My Templates" folder in the hard drive? Or "Mainstage Concerts" folder, "Mainstage Layouts" folder

So far I have saved quite a few concerts as templates, but now I want to delete some of the older ones, so they stop showing up teach time I want to start a new concert from a template. I have been looking for the folder in library, application support, logic, also in the mainstage app icon's package contents, but I can't find how to delete those saved templates, and exported layouts. Please advise me on this.

If you are running Lion OS, the <User> (Home) folder where MS 2.1.3 stores these files is hidden by default.
The easiest way to get there is using the Finder;Go menu: Hold down Option (Alt) and the Library will show up in the Go Menu.
Once you have the User Library window open, drag it to the Sidebar.
(There are also ways of 'un-hiding' the <User> Library via Terminal etc)
The Mainstage files are in
<User> Library:Application Support:Logic.

Why can't i find my templates folder in the finder?

this is certainly a finder problem and not a pages problem. the path is home folder/library/application support/iwork/pages/templates/my templates, but when i go to my home folder/library/application support/ i only find iwork 06, iwork 08, iwork 09 and there is nothing about pages or templates in it, and yet, when i click "Save as template..." in the File menu of pages, i can see the path.
i know there is an adjustment to make in the finder to use the right home folder, but i can't remember what it is.

There is a reason Apple removed over 2/3rds of the templates and dumbed down the rest, and that is because Pages 5 is not an upgrade it is a downgrade, that can't open the Pages '09 templates without damaging them.
Apple has now removed over 90 features from Pages 5.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

OneStep: cant find imported footage (folder location of captured data)

Hi,
I have used oneStep to create a DVD, after it automatically imported the footage from my camera, I accidentally pressed 'cancel' durring the compression process, and it stoped. Now I want to recover my imported footage (about 1 hr of dv). Problem: I have no clue where the data is! I checked /tmp and its not there! I have about 20GB less disk space on my drive now, but I can't seem to recover the file or free up the space! I'm not even sure what I would search for!
Anyone have an idea?

I had the same problem. I found the file using a freeware program you can download here called "What size"

Unable to install third party effects/titles. Missing folders in Motion Template.

Hi. I am unable to install third-party titles/effects/generators in FCP X version 10.2. I navigate to my Movies/Motion Templates folder and there are no subfolders in there. I created new ones labeled "Titles", "Generators", etc and placed the complete folder of the third party effects in the appropriate subfolder, but the effects do not show up in FCP X. I am on a managed laptop and do not have Administrative control. I am wondering if because I have a user profile with limited installation control, could that be affecting my ability to add the effects or is there something else that is wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preferences do get corrupted rather often, and deleting them is usually one of the first thing one tries whenever something strange happens in FCP X.
How exactly did you delete the preferences? The current method of choice is by holding down the command and option keys when starting the application and then confirming when the dialog box comes up.
I have not tried running FCP X from a non admin user account. Whether this could be the issue, I can't say.
Can you post screenshots of a Finder window, in column view, showing the folder structure inside Motion Templates?

I cant find the "photos" folder on Icloud, all the others are there like mail, contacts etc, I have backed up my Iphone and Ipad to Icloud but alsa cannot see them.

Agreed! It would be nice to edit photos from the website. As it is, it's very easy to ADD photos to Photostream. I use Aperture, and all you do is click a button at the top of the screen. However, you cannot delete photos individually... go figure. To me, this is a stunning omission and makes the service much less useful.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Where did the photos for the HTML Snippet slideshow come from initially? Were they in iPhoto? Where?

Is there a way to import a Motion template in FCPX, IF you DON'T have Motion on the computer.

I am working with another editor that has FCPX, but not Motion. I created some lower 3rd templates in Motion that I would like him to use. Is there any way to import motion5 templates in to FCPX if the user does not have the Motion application?

The titles you made in Motion are located in your movies folder. the path is ~/user/movies/Motion Templates/Titles. Your other editor needs to create that file path in his machine and then drop your titles in the Titles folder and FCPX will see them. ie He needs to create a Motion Templates folder and a Titles folder inside of it and then drop in your title folders. Make sure the folders are correctly named and I believe they are case sensitive. Just duplicate what you see in your movies folder.
