Cant open NEF PS 2014

I cant open NEF files in PS or Bridge neither Lightroom
Message indicates incorrect file. Its NEF taken with D700 in 2011. There are other files that open.

The usual problem is that you’ve touched (viewed, copied) the NEFs with older Nikon software, which has a side-effect of slightly changing something in the header of the NEFs that makes them unrecognizable to Adobe software. Since you seem to have up-to-date software, I’d guess this corruption has happened.
You can test this by copying newly-shot NEFs from your card to the computer using your OS utility like Finder or Explorer, and then try importing those. If this works, then avoid using Nikon software with your NEFs.

For the D5200 you have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

I have photoshop elements 5 and i cant open NEF files help

i am new to editing i set my camera on raw and now photoshope elements will not let me open the pic says wrong file how do i open them now.

Instructions:
Delete or move the existing Camera Raw 8bi file (see below) from the File Formats Folder.
Click and download the plug-in from the above link (R_Kellys link says for PSE6 but will definitely work with PSE5 also)
Open the zip folder you just downloaded and click Extract Files.
You should see the plug-in file you need. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi
Now drag the plug-in file (or copy it) into the File Formats folder in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows, move and install the plug-in file by navigating to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
N.B. Before you start the download you need to do some preparation. Navigate to the File Formats Folder and move Camera Raw.8bi I suggest you move it from the File Formats folder to My Documents or drag it to the desktop before you begin. This will prevent it being overwritten by the new Camera Raw file (it will have the same name) and you can always move it back again if the download installation fails.

I spoke to an Apple representative on the phone helpline about tiff thumbnails not showing up or showing up very slowly. We went through resetting the PRAM, removing the finder plist files etc. Nothing worked. Then he went away to investigate. Came back and said, lets try in safe mode, as this will disable third party software.
In safe mode I looked at the tiffs created with Photoshop CC and the behaviour was still the same. Tiffs created with Photoshop CS6 showed up perfectly.
After some discussion with someone else at this end and more investigation he said that it was a known problem that was with the Adobe software, and was being worked on from both ends.
I had previously web chatted to an Adobe representative who said,

Jayita Sen: We are working with apple closely to fix it
So each side is sort of laying the blame on the other, but both are working to fix it. Apparently..

I am really sorry to inform you that Muse does not offer Backward compatibility, And once your site is saved in the newer version you wont be able to open it in the older version.

i found the error!
little snitch on os x blocks something (i dont know what exact) of adobe in the background. i have no rule defined for adobe in little snitch, so everything of adobe can go out.
when i stop little snitch, everything works fine - photoshop opens videos without the medialink error, photoshop starts up in seconds and premiere starts without a quicktime error.
i report the problem also to objective developement to fix this!

Have latest Camera Raw 8.7, cant open D700 NEFs

I updated to the latest version of Camera Raw for Photoshop, but it wont open NEFs from my nikon D700 despite the fact that the D700 requires 4.6 or 5.1 or later to open...
Am I doing something wrong? Does the D700 require an EARLIER version of Camera Raw???

8.7 will open all preceding cameras, as well, so that’s not the problem.
It is likely that your NEFs were touched by obsolete Nikon software like Nikon Transfer or View NX and this corrupts the NEFs slightly so that Adobe software cannot use them.
You can test for this scenario by not using any Nikon software with some new NEFs, instead using Bridge or native Mac/PC software to transfer and view the images prior to opening in PS/ACR.
If the files are important, you can reverse the corruption using the following utility:

You have photoshop 7 or photoshop elements 7?
Which operating system are you using?
What camera and model are the camera raw files from?
Unless the nikon nef files are from a very old camera, you can't open any camera raw files into photoshop 7.
And those old camera raw files required a pay for camera raw plugin (camera raw 1.0) from adobe that is no longer available.
There are several third party raw converters out there or you could upgrade (buy photoshop cs6 or subscribe to photoshop cc 2014)
Also , there is adobe photoshop elements and adobe lightroom, both of which are cheaper than buying photoshop cs6.

I Cant find Sql Server 2014 express edition after installing it. How do I start the program

I have Installed Sql Server 2014 Express edition and downloaded the AdventureWorks 2014 database and Back up files.
I cannot find an Icon for the Sql Server on my Desktop to start the Sql program. There is only an icon for the Server Installation Center.
How do I start the Sql server. I tried opening the AdventureWorks Database but I cant open it.

When I installed Sql I chose Windows Login. After Installing I logged into Sql server using windows account. Should I have chosen an Sql account instead.

How do I make sure the account with which SQL Server service is running has full permission on folder where adventure works mdf and ldf files are located.
Please make a habit to search on net it is filled with lot of information.

Locate the folder on drive where AD mdf and ldf file reside. Right click on folder select properties and then select security tab. Click on add and then type account name and search and add it

I cant open Itunes 12.1.2 and use "erase free space"

Hi guys, after updating the new Apple update (10.10.3 and iTunes 12.1.2, I have so many problem to my macbook pro 2014 version. It takes a lot longer to start the computer which is incredibly fast before updating. Plus, I also cant open the iTunes and use the "erase my free space" in Disk Utility due to "cant create temporary file" even when i have like 150 Gbs left. Any helps?

My iTunes 12.1.2.27 becomes unresponsive on Windows 7 (64bit) whilst just browsing through the software, as I get a message come up saying “iTunes has stopped working” and then closes itself. I personally think that the software is full of errors which need fixing by Apple especially as they still have not grasped the motto “If it aint broke don’t fix it”. Especially as I have done everything like you have done to try to make the faulty software work.
It will be interesting to find out if someone out there has found a fix, but I doubt they have.

Hi,
The D7100 requires ACR 7.4 to read the NEF files.
You would need Photoshop Elements 11 to be able to install that ACR or version 12 which has it in already
You could get Lightroom but if you do any manipulation of images using layers and the like, you might still need an editor like the Elements editor. Lightroom doesn't have facial recognition if you use that facility.
