Cant transfer address book to new torch 9810

I have a torch 9800 that is linked to the blackberry enterprise server. I have backed it up many times through the BB desktop software on my imac. I recently got a new torch 9810 linked to an enterprise server as well. I switched devices using the BB desktop software and everything except my address book (contacts) trasferred over. When I try to transfer over the address book, it is dimmed out and reads "dimmed entries are read-only and cannot be restored. Does anyone know how to get around this?

  • How to transfer address book to new iPhone 4 (which has micro-SIM)?

Since I will be unable to put the SIM card from my Blackberry Pearl 8100 into the micro-SIM slot of the iPhone 4, how can I get my contacts into the new iPhone 4? The B'berry just has accumulated contact info SIM transferred from previous Razor, not address book or calendar or anything from my iMac's now Entourage 2008 program.
My iMac's address book has 350 entries collected over the past 20 years. I sure do not want all that significant amount of old, historical info to be on my phone, so a direct sync would bring a ton of crap to the iPhone (don't want that).
    Is there a way to:
    1) mark some (read most) contacts NOT to transfer in a sync?
    2) or any (relatively) easy way separate current 'phone related data' from the rest of the data which is more related to email and physical addresses info that I (think I) have no use for on the phone. It seems like my iPhone address book would be a confusing mess if all data from my iMac were transferred over.
Any ideas on this are appreciated.
I have been reading of the huge frustration on iPhone pre-order 'trying' today, so I have not attempted yet. I need to decide if my address book transfer would be best done at an Apple Store or if I should have it shipped to my home for me to deal with the data transfer. Hmmmn.

Sorry about my sentence structure. If I recall right I was responding late at night.
With that said, my suggestion is to yes create an gMail account (if you don't already have one).
Find a way to export out your current contacts to a .CSV file.
Google's gMail address book has an option to Import from a .CSV file (maybe some other formats too).
Once imported, verify everything looks good and edit as needed.
When you get your iPhone there is an option to have the iPhone get and sync it's address book with Google.
Once setup, it allows you to edit contacts via a computer (browse to gMail, edit contacts) and the iPhone will automatically get the changes. Also any changes you make on the iPhone will automatically show up in Google's gMail contacts. Thus no need to ever plug phone in to sync contacts. You only need to plug in to sync music and other data.
I find this process far better than having to plug in to ensure my contacts get backed up.
You can read more about it here on Google's site:
    http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/

  • How to transfer Address Book to new computer?

There is a knowledge base article on how to transfer the catalog to a new computer, but the procedure does not transfer the address Book.
Can somebody tell me where is the contacts file located and how to transfer it?
    Thanks

Assuming youre using PSE 6 on both computers, you can copy the file contacts.xml from the old to the new computer. See this tech note for the location:

  • Transferring info from old address book to new Mac

    my subtopic ought to be 'writing a subject heading that relates to the question I want to ask'. That question was;
    Can anyone help me?
My last iMac died and I've got a new one. I've also got the hard drive from the old iMac, but when I try to open things from it, such as the address book, the new version opens and I can't find a way to get at the info that is in my old address book. I want to e-mail friends to tell them that I'm back on-line, but I can't get at their addresses. Advice received with thanks.

The Address Book data is stored at the following location - Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
With the Address Book application quit on your new iMac, transfer the AddressBook folder from the old hard drive and place it in the same location on your new hard drive at Home > Library > Application Support.
This will replace the existing AddressBook folder in this location.
Launch Address Book and all contacts from the old drive should be completely restored.

  • Transfer Address Book - unable to locate object push server

Well, I've seen this issue raised on many forums but no answers forthcoming from either RIM nor service providers - in my case, Swisscom.
    The environment & issue:-
unit: Blackberry Pearl 8100 / firmware just updated to v4.2.1.94 (platform 2.3.0.77) - enterprise server activated
Car:  BMW 330 new off the line Nov 2008
BMW notes:- according to their literature, the Pearl and this level firmware is fully supported
    Before the firmware upgrade...
could make Bluetooth connection but if "transfer address book" was enabled, the link would drop every 30 seconds
    After the firmware upgrade...
Bluetooth connection established and stable - even with address book transfer enabled but:-
    *  address book is not (automatically) transferred
    *  attempts to force a transfer results in the message (on the Pearl) - "unable to locate object push server"
This seems to indicate the pearl is looking for an enterprise server in the car - why, I don't know
Would be great to break this impasse

I had this problem on my own (I have a car with Bluetooth -Mercedes W204- and a BB 8820) and I was struggling with this for several months. I look everywhere on the internet with no answers and I found a lot of people with the same problem. However.... I think I FINALLY HAVE THE SOLUTION:
    Here we go:
    - On a bluetooth connection you have, basically, two components.
    - You have the BB device and the car device. The key is that the car that is able to receive address book transfers has TWO services:
    1) hands free unit
    2) Objects Push
The thing is that this TWO services cannot work together AT THE SAME TIME. Normally, you have the car device activated as a "hands free unit", SO, when you attempt to transfer the address book, you receive the famous message "unable to locate object push server".
The one million dollar question is "how can you switch to "Objects push" mode ? Answer: go to Bluetooth, select your car device, open Options and press for "update list of services" and.... voilá!!! the description "hands free unit" will change to "objects push". At that time you will be able to transfer contacts (obviously setting your car device -in my case- to receive those contacts).
Be careful: once you finalized the transfer, you must deactive the car device for receiving contacts and, on your BB, update again the list of services to get your "hands free unit" again because, if not, you were possible will be having problems on connecting over the bluetooth (another common problem I saw in several posts). And that´s it. It worked for me so, pleae try it and Enjoy!! By the way, you don´t need to update your OS....
    Cheers from Argentina. Diego

  • Cannot retrieve Facebook inbox on new Torch 9810

    Hello,
I just got a new Torch 9810 and after uninstalling and re-installing the FB application, I still cannot access all the msgs I previously had in my FB inbox. It keeps on saying "loading messages" but it never actually does. And now the FB application doesn't even show in My AppWorld...
Does/did anyone had that problem? Really thinking of taking it back to the store...

Perhaps it's just your old messges that are not making it to your new facebook app, so to access them try going to the mobile site at m.facebook.com from your phone's browser.
As for the facebook app not showing in My World on App World, as long as the app is installed and running, this shouldn't be a problem.  If it bothers you, you can delete the app from your Applications list and reinstall it from your phone's browser at www.blackberry.com/facebook .
    I hope that helps you.

  • Can't transfer address book or e-mail content from failed G5 iMac to new 21.5" iMac

A friend's G5 iMac (running OS X 10.5.8 Snow Leopard) failed due to logic board problems. G5 hard drive is okay. A brand new 21.5" 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac (with OS X 10.9.2 installed) was bought to replace the G5.
All G5 data (e-mail, documents, etc.) was accessed and transferred cleanly except for address book content, by using the G5's drive in an external enclosure which was firewire-connected to a 27" 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion); data pulled from the G5's drive was transferred via the 27" iMac to USB flash drives and from there to the 21.5" iMac. Attempting to transfer the G5  Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/AddressBook  data files/folders "AddressBook-v22.abcddb", "MailRecents-v4.abcdmr" and "Metadata " (folder) to the corresponding locations of the 21.5" iMac resulted in no recognition of them on it.
Are there files other than the above which should have been transferred, or is there a conversion process which should have been applied to the originals before transfer?

Did you have AB Quit on the new Mac when you did it?
You should be able to import Mailboxes on Mail, they're on the old drive in...
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail, after you click on that top folder, it'll show you a list of Mailboxes you can choose to import.
Then in Mail you can Select All & choose Mail's Message menu item to Add Senders to Addrees Book... or whatever they call it now... at least

  • Transfer G4 Address Book to new Imac

Hi! Please tell me where my address book is located on my G4. I will transfer it using firewire to my Imac but not sure where it is. Once found do I just copy it to the new Imac location? Thanks, Mike

If you are seriously on 10.2 on the old machine and 10.4 on the new, I don't think you can do it directly . If you are on 10.4.x, you need to copy ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook from the old to the new Mac. If the old machine is 10.2 open Address Book, select all the contacts and File/Export as a vCard. The exported file can becopied to and imported on the new machine.

  • How to transfer Address Book from old iMac to new MacBook Pro?

I will soon be getting a MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core i5 with Snow Leopard and want to transfer my Address Book from my old 2003 iMac flat 15" panel running 10.4.11. What is the best way to do that? Is there a particular file or folder that I can copy onto a flash drive to transfer to the new computer? Or can I use my Mobile Me Backup that is on my external drive (or on CD) to do it even though the Backup on the new computer would be a newer version from the older Backup that has the data? I would like to avoid having to use the Migration Assistant if I can, since it looks like that is designed to transfer whole categories of files (like all "files and folders", etc.), which I don't want to do. Thanks in advance for the help.

When I bought my new MacBook Pro, the sales person showed me how to do the V-card method that you suggested. I tried it at home, and it worked. I have been worrying for years about the best way to do this, so was very relieved to find such a simple method. David Pogue in the Tiger Missing Manual also mentioned another tip which I used: he said to select all the address entries you want to transfer (in my case it was all of them) and then just drag the whole lot out onto the desktop. A V-card icon appeared that said: "Name of Person plus 344 others". I then copied that to a flash drive and then onto the new computer desktop. I then dragged it into the Address Book window. As you said it was done in a matter of seconds. Thank you so much!

  • Transfer address book etc from non iphone to new iphone

My old phone is a Motorola Razr2 . Any advice on how to do this is appreciated . I did use the search function and only came up with old iphone to new iphone using itunes.

Storing contacts on a SIM card is limited to a name and a couple of phone numbers and maybe one email address, that is it.
The iPhone's address book is full featured. For a contact it can include all phone numbers for a contact - office, fax, home, and cell, home address, work address, as many email addresses as a contact has, birthday, URL for a person's web page or business web page, Instant Messaging address, job title, anniversary, and a notes field.
This data can be synced with a supported address book application on your computer.
Not sure how having this information available for each contact complicates things, and there is no way to hide it.
Welcome to smart phone use, which is different from using a "dumb" phone.
