Canvas ratio preset problem

Hello guys,
what I do wrong. I have set Project Preset in Preferences as HDV 1080i 60. I have even set it as a default.
But every time I open a new project in Motion, it always opens 720x480 DV ratio, regardless my setting. What do I miss?
Thanks for any hint.

To use AWT Native Interface i need Canvas object to draw image on it.
See AWT Native Interface Tutorial...
Java:
public class MyCanvas extends Canvas {
static {
System.loadLibrary("myRenderingLib");
public native void paint(Graphics g);
C++:
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_MyCanvas_paint
(JNIEnv* env, jobject canvas, jobject graphics)
ds = awt.GetDrawingSurface(env, canvas);
Can i get something object from JPanel to function GetDrawingSurface?

  • Mpeg2 preset problem

So, I've been trying to export using the mpeg-2 60 minute high quality encode preset. The encoding appears to go off successfully in the batch monitor. However, the file that is exported appears as an unrecognizable file type. It appears just as a blank icon. However, when I double click on that file, droplet opens and can encode a .mov, heavily compressed version of my original project file. I feel like I have a problem with my settings in the mpeg-2 preset, and therefore cannot get my mpeg-2 file. However, I cannot find the problem. I tried posting about this a few days ago and no one had any ideas. Does anyone know what my preset problem might be?

This may be an old problem (.m2v file kind) for which I've posted the fix several times. Not all of you may have the same cause, so this may not work for everyone. But here is a llnk on how to fix this (perhaps). Oh, by the way, this is an apparent QuickTime 7 bug.

  • Aspect ratio and project presets problem

I am importing a clip that has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a size of 720x480.  When I open it using VLC media player, it plays fine without any black bars and with the correct ratio.  When I open the file in Windows Movie Maker it opens fine as well.  But when I open it with Elements, large black bars are imposed along the left and right, and smaller ones along the top and bottom.  I have picked a project that should have the same video size and aspect ratio (DV widescreen 48Hz), so I don't understand why it is imposing these bars.  I have tried different widescreen project settings, but I get the same result.  What am I doing wrong?

Great news. With some footage, PrE can miss the flags. Usually, it is the recording device taking a few liberties with those flags, but sometimes it seems that PrE just misses them. Players, and other programs, seem to see them OK. In those cases, Interpret Footage will force PrE (or PrPro) to treat that footage, as it should be.
Good luck, and thanks for reporting your success!

  • Preset problems

For the first time since upgrading to 1.1 I'm having a problem. It happens when I apply multiple presets, say WB, curve, tone, punch. Now say I don't like what the punch did so I ctrl Z to undo only nothing happens to the pic. The only thing that happens is the highlighted preset will return to the one before that, in this case it would be the tone preset.
If I ctrl Z again then it will make the change disappear on the pic. I've tried mousing up to the nav bar and selecting undo but I get the same results.
This is the first time this has happened, at least that I have noticed. I tried closing/reopening LR that made no difference.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Nobody has any ideas? I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one with this problem.

  • Printing Presets Problem, Not Retaining Settings Assigned To A Preset.

    Hi
I have a 10.5.8 client computer that is experiencing problems with saved printer presets not retaining the paper tray assigned to that preset. It works for other printers but not this one particular printer. I have tried the following.
    1. Repair disk permissions.
    2. Delete the troublesome printer presets and recreate them.
    3. Reset printing system and re-add printers and recreate all printer presets.
    4. Ran Onyx maintenance scripts, cleared caches, etc.
    5. Re-applied 10.5.8 combo update.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • 16:9 ASPECT RATIO IMPORT PROBLEM

    Hi
I have a camera using SDHS cards. I set it for 16:9 aspect ratio recording. I know the output is 16:9 because it is when I use a SDHC card reader and view it on the PC with the viewer or play it elswhere it is 16:9
I set the new project to 16:9. in PRE-8 and got the media from the SD card. It imported it as 4:3 however and distorted it. The PRE-8 screen is showing the 16:9 preview box so I think it is set properly in new project.
I tried using all the posible import methods including DV, Hard drive, memory and so fourth. I tried all the camera and file methods and set them to 16:9 and still no lluck.
I noticed as soon as the images for the clips apear in the project section they are 4:3. However thinking they must be rendered to show as 16:9 I did that but to no avail.
Am I missing something? How do I get them into PRE-8 and have it show the widescreen format?
    Thanks

I have actually solved the problem - I went to one of the other discussions on this page and did the following:
In Edit - right click on the file (or clip) go to Interpret Footage and selected Pixel Aspect Ration for PAL 16:9 widescreen.
I have since changed all the files, exported my movie and it works perfectly!
Thanks for your help - I'm sure I'll will be returning with other issues.

  • Uncompressed 8-bit Preset problems

    Hi,
I'm trying to solve a jaggy text problem by creating a new uncompressed 8-bit sequence (which I've never used before).
I try using the preset for Uncompressed 8-bit and click OK... but then I get the following message:
"Video Compressor Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 was not found. Please check that the hardware is present and enabled for this compressor. Setting the video to Animation."
I'm not sure what this means. Do I need a better Video Card? (My friend has FCP 5 on his old 867MHz Powerbook and it works fine on that... so I can't see how my dual 1 GHz doesn't have the right hardware...).
Please advise if you have encountered this error...
    Thanks.
    G

The file... it's not a file but an edited sequence... I "captured" it using firewire DV preset... miniDV consumer camera.
Edited the whole show into a 30 second sequence.
Was trying to put superimposed title graphics which were "jaggy"
Someone suggested creating an uncompressed sequence and then cutting in the DV sequence and graphics into it...
But I couldn't create the uncompressed sequence.
I tried creating a brand new project using the uncompressed preset... and got the same error message.

  • Ctrl-Alt-drag for brushsize also moves Canvas. Bug/problem

Hi, I'm experiencing a weird problem with Adobe Photoshop Version: 12.0.1 on Mac OS 10.6.4 (Macbook Pro).
I've used the ctrl+alt+mousedrag shortcut for changing brush size for some time, but a few days ago it started acting weird. (I have no clue what provoked it)
If I hold ctrl+alt keys down and move my mouse around, the entire canvas follows the mouse (independent on fullscreen) around.
However if I hold ctrl+alt and click once with the left mousebutton before moving the mouse, then keep holding down ctrl+alt it will act as normal and I can use the cursor to get the brush-settings the way I want it without the canvas moving around. But it is still annoying me because this is something I do very often, and thus it is really messing with my workflow.. And I know it hasn't allways been like this.
I've tried dumping the settings file, but not yet a full reinstall as I am hoping there might be a fix for this.
    Thanks,
    Steffen

Hi, thanks for the reply. I just figured out what is causing this and came back to post it.. You were on the right track!!
I recently downloaded a beta of something called HyperDock (http://hyperdock.bahoom.de).. Disabling that application fixes the issue.
Goodbye hyperdock - welcome back ctrl+alt+drag!
//Edit: Seems there is a setting in hyperdock that I can turn off, so it can run witihout messing with the shortcuts.. It is actually a decent app if you tend to use a lot of windows.

...how can i access myscreen varible outside of my paint function? Why don't you call the variable myGraphics? myscreen is a confusing name for a variable that refers to Graphics object because there's quite a different class Screen in MIDP API.
As for accessing Graphics from outside of paint, I am not sure if that's a good idea. If memory serves, it can change in different invocations of paint (check the Canvas class javadocs for details if you're interested).
To have a reliable reference to Graphics, I would rather use GameCanvas (it's a subclss of Canvas with some additional features).

  • D200 white balance presets problem or ACR problem?

Last night I was playing around with my D200 and an SB800. The scene was just a sofa with a Gretag-Macbeth 24 Patch Color Checker. The object was to see what results I got with the SB800 with the D200 set to the various preset White balance values. (I should point out that the lighting was mixed, but that is not relevant to the results I see.)
I set the D200 to each of the preset white balance values and then opened the NEF file in ACR. The preset temperature (from the D200 Manual) and the temperature/tint values reported as "As shot' by ACR are shown in the table below.
    D200 ACR 'as shot'
    preset temperature/tint
    tungsten 3000 2950 / 0
    fluorescent 4200 3950 / +31
    daylight 5200 4950 / -3
    flash 5400 6150 / -9
    cloudy 6000 5550 / -7
    shade 8000 7100 / +3
First of all I don't care if the temperature reported by ACR agrees with the preset temperature quoted by Nikon. What puzzles me is the discontinuity in the values reported by ACR when going from 'flash' to 'cloudy'. Is this a problem with ACR or with the Nikon preset values for these two settings?

    Bob,
A full answer to your question would require a response by Thomas Knoll or some other ACR expert with knowledge of how Nikon records the white balance and the algorithm used to apply the white balance. However, I can bring up a few points which may shed some light on the matter.
One should first consider what white balance information Nikon cameras write to the NEF file. The following table refers to the D70 and similar Nikon cameras before encryption of the WB.
    http://www.ozhiker.com/electronics/pjmt/jpeg_info/nikon_mn.html
The settings of daylight, flash, tungsten, etc are written as descriptive strings, not actual degrees Kelvin. Nikon considers daylight to be 5200K, but Thom Hogan writes that this value often produces a blue result and 5400K might be better.
The bias value refers to fine tuning between the above descriptive settings, approximately 100 Mired per increment. Finally, the red and blue coefficients are recorded (green would be redundant). Some raw converters such as DCRaw use these coefficients for the "as set" white balance. There is nothing corresponding to the ACR tint, which adjusts in the magenta green axis, whereas the color temperature slider adjusts in the yellow-blue axis. The degrees Kelvin figure specifies the white balance only for a black body radiator.
Thus there several ways to interpret the WB data. Mr. Knoll has written previously that ACR attempts to produce a neutral white balance appearance rather than the WB numbers. An interesting experiment would be to determine which converter (ACR or Nikon Capture) gives a more neutral white balance on your color checker with the above settings.

  • Import preset problem

A warm welcome to the Import Preset; except I'm having a problem. I have saved a few presets but when I select them only the panels on the right are changed so I see, for example, Add (to) My Catalog and Develop Settings and Metadata are just as I have set them. BUT "Select a Source" says just that, when I'd like it to go to the folder from which I want it to import. BTW there is no card in the reader, this is just an import from a folder into the catalog.
Should the preset "remember" the folder to import from, or have I misunderstood?

Should the preset "remember" the folder to import from, or have I misunderstood?
No, only the "rest" of Import dialog. The concept is: a preset remembers "how to treat the files you are importing" from any location.

  • Kelby preset problem

I recently purchased Scott Kelby's book for Lightroom 5 and downloaded/imported presets (for develop/print modules) from "kelbytraining.com/books/LR5" into one of my catalogs. The catalog's print module is no longer functioning properly. Selected images from the film strip do not show up in the main window. Most of the right panel options are not working and scrolling through the template browser shows the variations in the preview panel but nothing appears in the primary display area. I've manually deleted the presets from Kelby but the problem remains. Any way to restore default settings? I have a total of 4 lightroom catalogs. The other three are operating properly. Running Windows 7, 64bit.

OK - there were some presets left in the develop module that were apparently the offending gremlins. Deleted them from within Lightroom and from windows explorer. Print module back to normal. I think they were develop presets created for Lightroom 4 that I had also downloaded/imported that were creating the problems. Thanks anyway.

  • Garageband Amp Sim Preset Problem?

Hi everyone. I just had to reinstall Garageband 2, and I was playing around with the Amp Simulations when I noticed something that I wasn't sure was a problem or not. When I click on "Manual" to select an Amp Type, in addition to "American Clean," "American Crunch", "American Lead," and so forth, there is also "Big Wheels," "Classic Rock," "English Channel," and "Thick Jazz," which is kind of weird seeing as how those are also Amp presets.
I did a clean install, but this seems odd for some reason. Are these Amp types supposed to be under the Manual setting? What are other people's settings?
    Thanks in advance!

It seems the Manual menu is only presets. If you click on the pencil icon, the amp controls open, there are both he manual tab as well as the "Model" tab. The Manual is the presets, and the model sets the amp. I don't use them, but I think yours are OK, since mine are the same as you describe.

  • Mail preset problem (?)

    hi there,
To mail my pictures I'm used to exporting them to my desktop, from where I collect them together and drop them directly into a message that I prepare. Without having changed any presets (that I know of (?)) recently my messages are received with two versions of any photo, of which one of them cannot be opened by the receiver. (for example a jpeg with export preset (to my desktop) "fitt between 1024x1024" is received in mail as a jpg version of 57,8 KB and a jpg of 1.05 MB, the latter the one that can be opened. When I sent directly tru File/Email this thing doesn't occur (?)
A lot of words for a small problem, but I cannot find the setting to return to the original situation. Can somebody help?

Start up Mail. Start up Help. Type 'windows friendly' in the search box and hit ENTER.
Help will display a text that describes problems that Windows users have with items sent from a Mac.
The solution is to set Mail to send Windows frindly attachments.

I just got a new p4 3ghz 800mhz fsb cpu and an 865p neo motherboard.  When I boot.  It gives and error saying it thinks that the bios is configured correctly.  For the CPU it says " , 1.6ghz "  When I enter setup.  In the menu option for setting CPU ratio I get wierd selection.  (yes it is an unlocked part. (I work at Intel)
It starts at H1.0X whatever that is supposed to mean. My choices are
    0.0x, H1.0x, H2.0x ...  I1.0x, I2.0x, ... I5.0x
No matter what I choose when I save and exit it just leaves me with a blank screen then shuts itself off.  It keeps doing that until I reset the bios then I'm back to where I began.
If I say skip and go to the boot menu I works until I have to reboot again.  I managed to intall the operating system, etc so I could get internet working and use the live update thing.  It says my bios and inf are current.
    More system specs
    865p motherboard
p4 3.0 ghz ht enabled 800mhz fsb fuse unlocked cpu
    radeon 9800 pro
    creative sblive
    western digital 80gb hard drive
    SMC wireless ethernet adapter(smc2802w)
    MSI 16x DVI drive
Anybody else run into this problem?
    Also any advice?
    Thank you
