Captivate 6 - Trying to Edit Slide in PowerPoint

OK - so this problem just started for me.  I used to be able to simply edit slides with Adobe Captivate by clicking "edit slide in powerpoint" - it seems like some add in got disabled?  Does anyone know how I can enable this feature again? See screenshot below.

Well....
Hmmm, reinstall? Does the same thing happen if you create a different project based on a PPT import?

  • Can't edit slide imported from PowerPoint in Cap 5.5

Hi - I'm running Windows XP.  I've created a new project from a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation (imported .ppt file, although it may have been originally created as pptx).  For the Advance Slide option I selected Automatically, and I unchecked the Linked checkbox.  I have successfully imported additional PPT slides into the project file, and I have been able to use the text to speech conversion option to create audio narration for several slides, so the project file seems to be working as usual, and is not overly large (only about 6 mb).  I can also open the temporary PPT editing environment and make changes to an imported slide by using right-click and selecting Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint/Edit Slide.  But after I click the Save button in the temporary editing window, I never return to the Captivate project file window - Captivate hangs up.  I've waited as long as ten minutes before using Task Manager to end the process.  Does anyone have any thoughts about what can cause this, and/or what I am doing wrong?  I have already uninstalled a trial version of Articulate (before uninstalling it, I was not able to import additional PPT slides into my project, but uninstalling didn't fix the editing issue).  I suppose I could work around this problem by importing corrected slides into the project file and deleting the originals I'm replacing, but I'd like to be able to get this to work right if possible.  Thanks.

I didn't use it because of comments I've read by developers who've had problems with the Linked function.  You don't need to select the Linked function to edit an imported slide in Captivate, though, do you?  I thought unlinked slides were imported into the project library, and that you can edit them there.  Have I misunderstood how this works?

Please check your Firefox Installation's version. (can be found by clicking the main menu, either clicking or hovering over the help button, and then clicking about firefox in the sub menu). depending on how long ago you set up sync you may still be using the older sync version. firefox 29 introduced a new (and might i add far less tedious) sync version. see [[How to update to the new Firefox Sync|this Mozilla support article]] for information on upgrading your sync to the new version.

  • Jump to next slide in Powerpoint when embedded Captivate SWF

    Hi all,
first of all, I am pretty new to the captivate forum, and searched a while without success, too many powerpoint to captivate issues but not the otherway around.
I have included a Captivated Version 5 compiled SWF into Powerpoint and made it Full Screen. Is there anyway to create a button in captivate5 to send a command (maybe through javascript/ fscommand etc.) to exit the captivate movie and go to next slide in Powerpoint?
As of now, all keys and mouseclicks are focussed on the swf and don't reach powerpoint.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Darius

  • Cannot import more than 6 slides of Powerpoint

I am trying to import a slide pack of 2003 into Adobe
Captivate 3, of 70 slides. Troble is Adobe Captivate 3 is only
picking up the first 6 in the presentation....Any ideas??

Maybe there is some action on the sixth slide that prevents
    the import?
Have you tried removing the first five slides and seen what
happens? If it still occurs within exaclty 6 slides, you can be
assured that it has something to do with powerpoint.
Also have you tried to build a custom other powerpoint
presentation (with random slides) and importing that one in?
Also check to see if the slides appear in the library! I have
had the same sort of issue with recording. Only 17 slides where
made, but the background images for 56 slides existed well in the
    library.

  • Cannot Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

I have the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Release v1.0, Internet Explorer version 10 (10.0.9200.17183), Office 2013 Professional 32-bit, and a SharePoint 2010 environment.  I cannot publish slides to the SharePoint environment at all.  When
I attempt to do so from PowerPoint 2013, I receive an error indicating all slides (X of X) failed to upload.  When I attempt to use the option in the SharePoint 2010 Slide Library (Upload > Publish Slides) I receive the error of "This feature
requires Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.  Either the application is not installed, or your browser is not configured to support ActiveX controls."
I have added the URL for the site in question to my "Trusted Sites" in Internet Explorer 10.  I read through the KB 2716529.  There is no TabProcGrowth registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but there is one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
and the value is set to "Medium" which appears to be accurate.  I tried running the "Fix it For Me" option offered with that KB, and the wizard indicated the problem could not be found on my computer.
How can I resolve this issue?  Utilizing slide libraries is a very important feature of SharePoint for my organization, and going back to Office 2010 is simply not an option.

    Hi Jen_O,
According to your description, my understanding is that you were unable to publish Slides into SharePoint 2010 with Office 2013.
For narrowing this issue, let's verify the followings:
Please test on other machines with the same system configuration, compare the result.
Please test on other machines with 32-bit system and IE 10, compare the result.
Whether you are able to publish Slides from Windows 7 and Office 2013 32-bit.
Whether this issue occurres for all slide files with Office 2013.
Please create a new slide in PowerPoint 2013, and check if it could be uploaded into a new Slide library.
In addition,  Office Web Apps (as part of SharePoint 2010) allow SharePoint users to view and edit Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) from within the browser. Typically we can click on a link to a PowerPoint, for example in a document library,
and be taken to a new page to present PowerPoint.

  • Editing Slide Notes - Lines Disappearing?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to edit my slide notes, and put all of the lines into one of the 'added' lines in the slide notes area.  Currently, it has brought in all of my powerpoint notes via import, and placed them in separate lines in the slide notes section.  When I try to copy/paste the lines into one slide note line, it will work some of the time, and other times, it will delete lines, sometimes all of the text!  I don't know if this is a bug, or if I'm doing something wrong.  Either way, I need help.  Thanks!

I am having the same problem simply typing straight into slides note box.  Tried hitting enter etc but it keep evaportaitng an very frustrating.

  • Edit slide audio stops on play

All of a sudden, Captivate does not want to play audio for me in the Edit Slide Audio tool. Every time I click play the red bar jumps forward about half a second and stops. Anyone seen this before? It was working fine this morning, but now this is happening in every project I open.
    I have tried:
    - Deleting the preferences folder
    - Running as administrator
    - Different projects/kinds of projects
    Version 6.0.1.240 on Windows.

Is this after you published to a server? If so, can you try
saving to your local computer to see if it does the same thing.
Also, if you published to a server, you might try closing all
your Internet-based apps (other IE/Netscape windows, Outlook,
Weather Bug) and see if it's the Internet connection to the server.
Let us know how it goes...
    Ingrid.

  • Trying to Edit a Clip But Box Is Too Small

I am trying to edit a 43 minute video but it's a tiny thumbnail, which is making it very challenging to edit with the sliders.  How do I make it spread out like a timeline so I can easily see the sections to edit versus in the tiny box/thumbnail.

Use the Thumbnail slider in the Project pane. There is also one in the Event pane. You can set the thumbnails to anything from one thumbnail per clip to one thumbnail every 1/2 seconds.

  • Captivate 7 Audio Edit button is greyed out

I recorded my first Captivate Demo on a slide and wanted to edit the audio. When I am on the slide, I can play the audio. But when I go to the Audio menu item, "Edit" is greyed out. What is this neophyte doing wrong?

    Hello again
Near as I can tell, you created a Demonstration, then clicked Insert > Recording Slide and selected Video Demo.
Because there is no audio on the slide itself (It's embedded in the video recording) Captivate doesn't know how to make edits to the audio.
Short of re-recording, I don't really have a suggestion, Perhaps others do.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Can't Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

    Hello all,
When I attempt to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides to a SharePoint 2010 Slide Library it informs me that it failed. I am able to publish PowerPoint 2010 slides without issue. All of my permissions are correct. Is it possible to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides
    to SharePoint 2010?
The weird thing is that while I can't publish, I can compile a new slide deck in PowerPoint 2013 using the "Copy slide to presentation" button in the slide library of my SharePoint 2010 site.
    Thanks!

    Personal Blog: http://thebitsthatbyte.com

When I get this error it is because SharePoint is not passing the credentials to the network share where the slide library is located. So when PowerPoint
tries to upload slides to SharePoint it is giving an error of unauthorized (because your credentials are not being passed correctly). Every part of SharePoint is essentially a network shared drive just like you have an internal network to share files between
employees. Assuming you are having the same problem for the same reason, here's the work around:
Set up a mapped network drive that goes to where the slide library is located. It should be something like this: \\sp.sharepoint.com@SSL\site\Sales\Slide Library
When you connect to this drive it will prompt you for a log in (just like SharePoint would)
Once you log in your credentials will be cached (until you reboot your system or it times out)
You can then publish to your PowerPoint slides to the library either directly through PowerPoint or by going to the upload slides option on SharePoint
The problem is it only last until you reboot. When you reboot it clears out your credentials then you have to log in again. I’m hoping someone can figure out why SharePoint is
not passing the credentials properly so we can have true fix to this issue. Until then, this will get you by.

Polachan, just open the Power Point presentation in your copy
of "MS Powerpoint 2007" and use the "Save As" function to save a
    copy in "Powerpoint 1997-2003" format.
    Then, bring
that copy into Captivate 3, and you should be okay. Okay?

  • Captivate 3-Jumping from slide 3 to 348 takes 28 seconds

This is the largest project I've worked on, and I've only been working with Captivate for a few months now. I tried using the Slide Groups, but that didn't speed anything up. Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions to increasing the speed when jumping to a slide at the end of a large project?
    Thanks.

    Seriously? Slide 348?
If that's for real, I'm surprised your project is still intact. Count yourself lucky!
Normally we recommend you keep a project at 50-65 slides as a rule of thumb. Sometimes you might get away with 125-150, but I'd never suggest anyone go beyond that!
You really should consider paring the project down. Split it into multiple projects.
