Capture Top 25 CPU process

How can i capture top 25 process utilising maximum router CPU and send mail using an  EEM program?
it tried this
event manager applet CPU
event none
action 101 cli command "enable"
action 102 cli command "terminal length 12"
action 103 cli command "show proc cpu sorted 5min"
action 104 syslog msg "$_cli_result"
but i need only top 25 and that to send as mail
My IOS ver is 12.4(15)
Please help

You can't do this using applets with 12.4(15)T.  You will need to use Tcl.  Alternatively, you might try using "show proc cpu sort 5min | exc 0.00".  That will limit the output to those processes with at least some CPU activity.

  • Mail is using 100% CPU processes - wondering if I possibly have the answer?

    Hi...
I have a big problem with Mail using all the CPU processes but may just have found a possible solution. I'm posting to see if anyone else shares this problem or can shed some light on whether or not this is a possible solution.
    _*The Problem*_
Over the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that Mail is using on average 100% of the processes and sometimes up to 168% (I have screenshots to prove it). My 17" MacBookPro gets very, very hot and the fans spin up to cool it down so it's obviously not right as it's never done this before. I can only use Mail intermittently now as the machine overheats quickly soon after Mail starts up. As a result, the CPU is being hammered so I can't now use Mail or other CPU intensive applications properly, which is a big problem.
I've used the iStatPro widget to verify that Mail is constantly using 100% of the CPU processes. I've also verified this using Utilities / Activity Monitor. When the Activity Monitor application loads, I've selected Mail from the list of Process Names and then clicked Inspect. I've managed to identify the parent process as being launchd (110) which is using all the CPU power. Here are some other stats for this parent process:
%CPU 95.56 (at that specific instance)
    Threads 15
    Ports 275
    CPU Time 3:30.55
    Context Switches 310968
    Faults 65795
    Page Ins 1
    Mach Messages In 272627
    Mach Messages Out 65025
    Mach System Calls 1459878
    Unix System Calls 103120
I guess the important bit is the first bit that says 95.56%.
I have screenshots to back this up but no way of posting them here. I have also managed to use Activity Monitor to generate sample data that the process is creating and again there is no way of posting an attachment here but there is lots of sample data from the process to look at. I've compared the sample data from my MacBookPro to a colleagues machine and the difference between the sample data is enormous. There is obviously something very wrong happening.
Here's some basic info about my machine, with the serial number removed:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro 17"
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP21.00A5.B08
    SMC Version: 1.14f5
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
    System Software Overview:
    System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55)
    Kernel Version: Darwin 9.6.0

    Time since boot: 1:44
    _*The Possible Solution??*_
I recently installed a Beta version of Daylite 3 as I was interested in the application and remembered that it integrates closely with Mail. I wondered if Daylite was constantly trying to communicate with Mail and having problems. Having uninstalled Daylite 3, the problem of Mail using all the processes has so far not reappeared. Mail is now using very little of the CPU processes as is usual. However, I'm currently at home instead of on my network at the office so I'll wait to see if the problem still fails to appear when at work.
I know other people have had problems with Mail using 100% of the processes. Have you also installed Daylite 3? There has been some talk of Flip4Mac being a possible culprit but I use Flip4Mac and haven't previously had the problem. The only recent change and connection I can think of is an install of Daylite 3.
I don't want to talk down Daylite 3 but it's the only thing I can think of and having uninstalled it, the problem hasn't occurred. I hope I have stumbled across the solution but any thoughts, shared experiences or feedback would be greatly appreciated...
    Many Thanks,
    Nigel

    Hi...
Thanks for the post. Not sure what you mean when you say "What does Mail say it's doing?" Can you be more specific and supply specific instructions to follow so that I can give you the information you need?
I've sampled the process but can't post any attachments on the forum. I've listed what the Activity Monitor stats are saying at the top level in the post above.
This is a serious problem that's hammering my machine and making it overheat and almost making it unusable. Any feedback or instructions anyone can give me for what info to supply to help you determine what the issue is would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to find a solution here rather than have the machine overheat permanently and eventually fail, leaving me to sort it out with AppleCare.

  • ICloud Photo not syncing + High CPU process (Win 8.1 pro)

This is a new persistent issue with my iCloud and I can't figure out how to fix it permanently because I was able to fix it few days ago, but issues return back a day later! So here's the full story...
I just received a new (AWESOME!!) Surface Pro 3 i5 256 GB tablet with Windows 8.1 professional. I installed iCloud on it as well as iTunes and Quicktime (the basics isn't it?). When setting up my iCloud account first, everything sync up correctly but after a few days (3-4 days), I notice than my Surface tablet are becoming pretty hot and making some fan noise (common Surface issue) when I didn't use it really. So I checked for a high-CPU process and I noticed than "iCloud Photo Stream Downloader" are stuck at 30-35% CPU for an hours ago. Moreover at this point I realized than my photos are not syncing for a few days. I fix the high-CPU process by rebooting, but my photo are still not syncing at all and after a few minutes after reboot, the "downloader" process stuck back to 30-35% and still not syncing!
So I first try some of the workaround found on the internet like sign out iCloud app, then kill all iCloud related process and delete folder %appdata%/Apple/Mediastream and reboot and sign in... same thing... after a few minutes, high-CPU usage + not syncing! I try to "repair" iCloud installation... same thing (high CPU + not syncing)... I uninstalled iCloud + reinstalled... same thing!
I finally fix the situation by uninstalling ALL Apple related software (iTunes, iCloud, Quicktime, Apple Soft Upd, Apple Mobile Sup, Apple App Sup, Bonjour, etc) and thereafter deleting all "Apple_xxxx" folders in %appdata% and also remove all registry keys from the Windows Registry related to Apple. Reboot then reinstall iTunes first and then run "Apple Soft Upd" to install automatically iCloud + Quicktime... then reboot, sign in and then the photo finally sync this time and no high-CPU process!
But a days later... High CPU + Fan noise on the tablet... so checked and the god **** "iCloud Photo Downloader" are again stuck at 30-35% and no more photo sync (I saw the old photos, but not the last day's photo are not sync).
Anybody experience this situation and know how to fix it PERMANENTLY? I checked at my Apple iCloud LOGS and the only thing I saw that can be suspicious is the last line of the log who's :
    [2472 @ Tue Nov 11 19:45:09 2014] [YSLog ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe] defaults key ShouldLog in domain ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe is (null)
    Please help!!

In fact I discovered later I have this issue on all my Windows computers... both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, both MACs (BootCamp) or true PC computers. Except only the Surface Pro 3 tablet seem to have the HIGH-CPU process issue, but all my other Windows PCs stopped syncing too after a few weeks or so.
I just build a BRAND NEW HP Pro Desktop computer running Windows 8.1 Professional and a few days later iCloud Photo stopped syncing too... this is the straw that broke the camel's back! This PC is brand new and no other software are installed except iCloud, iTunes, QuickTime and Microsoft Office 2013 (Office 365). PC is brand new (1 week old) and iCloud Photos sync is already broken!
I also have a few Windows 7 PCs at home (HTPCs on TVs) where iCloud Control Panel is installed and after looking at them, they stopped syncing too for a while (many months ago) but I didn't noticed it yet because I don't check photos often on them.
For now I just give up and disabled the iCloud Photo Sync completely on all my Windows PCs. It only sync between my two iPads, my two iPhones and my two Macs computer (MBPr + iMac 27") and that's it... that's sad, but I'm tired loosing my time with that crappy software!
PLEASE APPLE!! MAKE ICLOUD FOR WINDOWS BETTER!!

  • Syncserver.exe taking large amount of CPU process after iTunes closing

    Hi,

Antivirus software : Kaspersky internet security 2015     release: 15.01.415 (b)
After iTunes closing the syncserver.exe process will take a large amount of CPU Process.
The problem has begins after KIS 2015 installation.
I tried to apply a procedure finded on another forum : Windows 7 compatibility mode and run as administrator for distnoted.exe and syncserver.exe. The problem remaind.
    Thank for your help

    Hello~ Chrisrob94
    My computer environment is
    OS: Win 8.1 x64
    Itunes: 12.0.1.26
    Anti-Virus: KIS2015 15.00.463(b)
    I has same your problem too. But I solved in the following way;
    File Path1:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\distnoted.exe
    File Path2:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServer.exe
    this file [Right Click] and Properties. on the compatibility tab(click change setting for all users);;;
then check run this program in compatibility mode for: and select windows 7.
also check run this program as an administrator. click apply then ok
if already running syncserver, disnoted kill it. using windows task manager.
This seemed to fix the problem for me....Good luck to you!

  • Top resource intensive processes on AIX/Unix/Linux

top is good to find this out, topas on aix, any other tips to find out memory/IO resource intensive processes, here i have for cpu....
    oracle:tulpfsd01$ ps -e -o pcpu -o pid -o user -o args | sort -k 1 | tail -5r
    %CPU PID USER COMMAND
    1.1 1230914 oracle oraclepwpd (LOCAL=NO)
    0.9 1248744 oracle oraclepwpd (LOCAL=NO)
    0.9 1099146 oracle oraclepwpd (LOCAL=NO)
    0.6 503688 oracle oraclepwpd (LOCAL=NO)
    0.5 1239486 oracle oraclepwpd (LOCAL=NO)

Generally, memory shouldn't be a concern. The total amount of SGA is set (fixed) with SGA_MAX_SIZE and occupies shared memory (to be seen with 'ipcs')
The PGA is set by PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET, but is only a rough pointer for oracle. Additional information about memory is seeable with pmap (alt least on linux and solaris)
You'll see the loaded shared libraries (which are used by the process in a shared matter, so not any process which uses libraries copy their own versions, and you should be able to identify the shared memory (identified with shmid=0xsomething) etc. On linux /proc/<pid>/maps shows the same in a little different way.
Now we've established that the shared libraries are used shared to preserve memory, and the shared memory is used shared (quite obviously), and 'put' into the process' address space, you should understand why listing VSS (virtual set size) and other memory stuff isn't very helpful: if you just add all listed used memory, there are much components which are not really used by that process.
Top and topas are helpful for finding CPU intensive processes. That is what both are designed for, to be able to identify the processes which are using the most slices of processor time. Of course, it's only helpful if you truly want to identify top CPU intensive processes. This is also quite easy to find inside the database.
IO: there's no way to identify processes which are the most intensive writers. Simple because linux doesn't keep statistics about it. Inside the database, it's easy to find (guess you should need an example of that?) please mind you should be aware how the database works: a user process does no writing, it's the logwriter, checkpointer and database writer who does that. The user process only reads.
I will see if I can find some nmon examples tomorrow, when I've got access to AIX systems.
If you still want examples, could you be specific?

  • What does 'mds' do? And why does it keep eating CPU processing?

    Hi
My iMac G5 with Leopard installed is suffering from a recurring process that shows up as mds in Activity Monitor. It just takes over the CPU and sets the fans off as whatever it does needs it to run intensively for a perod. Apart from the fans blasting away being irritating its affecting my use of the computer.
Anyone know what mds is? What it does? Why it keeps trying to do it? Is it something that only affects PPC iMacs (so it won't be there if I upgrade my iMac to an Intel one)?
    Thanks in advance.

Wow! That was a quick answer.
Thanks that explains it. I've set Spotlight to only work on the internal drive, as the external drive is for backups, so I'd have thought it wouldn't have much to do. I'll have to have another look at the settings for it.

  • Excise capture in Debit Memo Process

    Dear Friends,
I am having a requirement, where, I want to know if the system will capture any excise duties for the debit memo raised for any price escalation.
Can anybody suggest, if I have to do excise transaction for processing for the debit memo raised.
Shall be greatful,if the process is explained to me till excise capturing.
    Rgds,
    Indrajit

    Hi,
For Debit Memo, you can follow this process:
    1. Create the Debit Memo Sales Order against the Billing Invoice which you had already sent to customer.
    2. Then do the Billing against the Debit Memo Sales Order. It will update the values in Customer accounts.
    3. For Excise entries, you need to do the J1IS Transaction. In that transaction, select the
    Doc. Type = OTHR
Doc. No = Billing No. (You can give any refernce no., but for track record provide the Billing No.)
    Year = Excise Year
    Series Grp = ur wish
    excise grp = ur wish
Customer = Sold-to-Party in Billing Doc.
Then click on Add row button, then fill the material details manually. Finally save the document. If in Posting the G/L Accounts are not coming as the required one then you can create one sub-transaction type for the same.
    Regards,
    Vishal

  • Capture Workflow id in process

    Hello,
We need to be able to capture the id or the workflow in process and then save it
in a container element in the running business process.
Does anyonether if this is possible?

    Thanks,
The suggested blog refers to the message/xml in process.
What we are looking for is the process id that was just created.

  • Capturing stdout from JVM process

    Hi,
Using JNI native methods I call functions in a shared C library from my Java program. I do not have access to the shared library source code. The shared library writes informational messages to stdout. I want to be able to capture these messages and display them in my Java GUI as they occur. I need a cross-platform solution because the Java program needs to run on both Windows and Linux.
I have googled and searched the JavaSoft forums but I cannot find an answer to what I am trying to do. I have seen answers on how to do it if you are using Runtime.exec methods, but I am not doing that. Also, redirection on the command line will not work since I want to show these messages as they occur in my GUI.
I have thought of redirecting stdout to a pipe in the JNI code and using select to read the bytes off the pipe. Then sending the bytes up to a Java object. All this would run in a separate thread. But this seems overly complicated.
    Any suggestions?
    charlie

I developed a solution to this problem using named pipes. It works well on Linux (2.6 kernel) and it may work on Windows but I don't know. Example code follows. I would be most interested in any feedback on this solution or on the code itself.
    There are 2 files, StdoutRedirect.java and StdoutRedirect.c.
    1) Compile the java file and run javah on it to get StdoutRedirect.h.
    2) Compile the C file into a shared library, here's a makefile:
    StdoutRedirect: StdoutRedirect.o
    gcc -shared -o libStdoutRedirect.so StdoutRedirect.o
    3) Run the java class file.

  • High CPU/Process hang on VDI environment

I have a environment that is currently using Adobe Reader XI running on roughly 125 virtual desktops.
In some of those instances, when adobe reader was launched and closed after, the process hangs up in the background and takes on high CPU. The only means to recover is to open task manager and kill the offending .exe
    Thoughts?

Can you try to disable Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Top and stuck processes

Once in a while my server won't wake up the display after sleeping it. I'm left with a black screen and no way to use the system.
If I log in with SSH from another Mac on the LAN, everything seems fine, except that top reports that 1 process is "stuck." But it won't tell me which one! Isn't there some way to identify the stuck process and kill it?
Also, issuing a reboot command remotely doesn't work. The server screen wakes up (displaying the screen saver image) but sits there forever with the little "gear" thingie going round and round.

    Hi Robert,
You can use the following command to view all processes:
    ps -auxww
In the STAT column is the state of the process. An explanation of the letters in that field can be found in the ps man page. From "man ps":I   Marks a process that is idle (sleeping for longer than about 20 seconds).
    R   Marks a runnable process.
S   Marks a process that is sleeping for less than about 20 seconds.
    T   Marks a stopped process.
U   Marks a process in uninterruptible wait.
Z   Marks a dead process (a ``zombie'').   You don't put the whole system to sleep, do you? If you do, it shouldn't even be able to serve anything. Don't put a server to sleep. You can sleep the display but I don't recommend even spinning down the drives.
If you are talking about the display, that's doubtless just a symptom. Without knowing the processes having problems, it isn't possible to know what is wrong. Of course even a listing might not be sufficient to know what's going wrong but it's probably necessary.

  • CPU process history!!!

if "sh proc cpu" had one more column showing the highest value each process has reached it will help alot in troubleshooting multiple problems related to high cpu utilization.

    Hi Erik,
Thanks for your response. I did as you recommended and slowly pieced things back together. I discovered that the "ip flow" entries on both interfaces were causing packets to go from CEF/fast switched to process switched for some reason, maxing out the CPU. I managed to get the 1841 to handle the rated 60/10Mbps after that - it even maintained close speeds after applying a standard auto secure CBAC (IOS Classic Firewall).
Thanks to everybody for their tips!
    Take care,
    Jordan
