Carriage jam during setup hp 5520
Hello,
Today i bought the HP 5520
But when i need to align the cartridges during the setup i'm stuck
everytime i get the carriage jam error. i tried everything, there is no paper jammed...
i'm getting frustrated
When the printer is powered off the carriage wont move when i open the top of the printer, is that normal?
Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Guest753 ,
I read about the carriage jam error problem you are facing with your new Photosmart 5520, and I am here to offer a suggestion!
Try these steps that are listed here: A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about a replacement unit. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.
Best wishes to you, have a great Monday

Carriage jam, excessive start-up activities and rapid ink usage during start-up
Hi,
I've had a B110A for over 12 months now and every time I use the printer the following happens:
1) carriage jamming............. multiple times [up to 10 times] before it decides to print
2) Lots of roller movement before printing - forwards, backwards, slow, fast
3) lots of printer head cleaning before printing
This is the first HP product I'm getting really fed up with.
Also I get a message from W7 64 bit that the device is not properly installed and it cannot find a suitable device driver fom windows update
I've tried all the on-line HP solutions to no avail and getting nowhere
I am seriously minded to throw this device in the bin and - perhaps - move to another all-in-one make
Any help would be appreciatedHi,
I can't answer your first question but for 2 and 3, both are the weak of inkjet printers, they all need to "drink" inks during start up to do many things including clean those print heads. One suggestion is to keep printer ON all the time to save inks but there is a trade off for this.
My suggestion: Go to this site to download driver and application and then reintstall it on your computer. Hope this helps:

Stucked on 'carriage jam' screen - c309n
I had a 'virtual' Paper Jam error till today.
Today I did some research and tried perform 'semi full reset' after pressing BL/TL/BR/TL.
Accidentaly I hit the 'partial reset' and after this reset, I got 'carriage jam' screen and screen stuck at this state.
Even pressing BL/TL/BR/TL can not access to 'Support Menu' or home screen.
Now I can not use this printer not even just as a scanner.
Is there way to perform 'full reset' holding buttons during printer power up?
Thanks in advance.Hello @mj2040 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are getting carriage errors. I would like to help.
The printer does require a functional display to perform the type of reset you are looking to perform, but there is a few steps I would like to try.
I would recommend removing the ink cartridges from the printer, and performing a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend this document on A 'Carriage Jam' Error Message Displays for HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web (C309n) All-in-One ...
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

Just set up the printer but it will not print the alignment page because of a "carriage jam". It says to remove the cardboard but there is no cardboard in the printer. What should I do?
ok, when I thought the problem was resolved, it was temporary. The problem is back. I have searched the forums multiple times and can find no other problems or discussions similar to mine. I even went so far as to reload my machine from scratch. I have the exact same problem. I can reproduce it by creating a new blank project and adding a single empty report definition to the project. If I then try to go into the Page Setup dialog, i get the following error
Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer
Out of memory.
OK
The dialog then appears but is empty. If I go to the preview of the report and select the Print Report button, VS2008 gets the following error
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: ...(x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
OK
I get the same out of memory error in the standalone designer. I have DEP turned off at the BIOS level as well as via the following bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
I then went to my home machine which has VS2008 and Vista64 and installed Crystal12 and SP1 and had the exact same issue. Also when I run my app in debug mode from VS I cannot assign a printer to the report. It gives an exc eption that says that is an invalid printer. If I exit VS and run the same exe, I can assign a printer and run the report.
While I am developing with Vista64, I am targetting x86 machines, not 64bit machines. Am I really the only one with this problem on 2 boxes I tried it on? Is there any help?
I am creating a standard VB forms app nothing web related.
Thank you

Microsoft office 2013 encountered an error during setup in Window 8.1
Initially, I got microsoft office 2013 64bit standard version installed in window 8.1. However, it suddenly got errors when opening office, and closed the program automatically. Therefore, I uninstalled it, and tried to re-install office.
However, I got the error "microsoft office 2013 encountered an error during setup" everytime when I try to install it.
I tried 32-bit and 64 bit version, and tried to install in clean boot, deleted registry, and modified the folder name "Microsoft Help", but none of them works.Make sure you completely uninstall previous versions of Office. There may be remnants left behind, even after you uninstall Office using the normal procedure. I recommend using the “Fix It” utility to uninstall Office 2013 completely. Please refer to this
article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us you might also follow the manual steps provided on the same page.
If you still having problems, re-registering the Windows Installer and checking permissions on the %TEMP% folder and the C:\Windows\Installer folder to make sure you have full-control. To re-register the Windows Installer run the following commands:
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /register -

I have an ipad&iPhone but used the same iCloud account for both during setup.i now have ran out of iCloud storage! If I delete the account from iPhone will I lose the apps from my ipad?
And will new account that i set up on iPhone give me 5gb storage? I assume its not as easy it sounds, it never is!
It is the camera roll on both devices that are using the storage up, and I know I can transfer the photos to a hard copy, which I will but if I can get 5gb from two separate iCloud accounts then that's the route I will take!
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Ps I had originally synced the iPad and iPhone but as far as this apple illiterate operator is aware I managed to stop them syncing a few months at lol.thanksWelcome to the Apple Community.
I assume that the same account is required on both devices (it would be rather awkward otherwise) and that most of your space is consumed by back up.
You will need to buy more storage or back up to iTunes instead of iCloud.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable. -

So I have just had my potentially duff 1Tb hard drive replaced by apple and uploaded my data from time machine only to discover that pages is now speaking to me in a different language. The keyboard has been selected as UK during setup. Any idea how I can get back to qwerty?
roxandiv wrote:

What exactly are you referring to? Are the menus or templates for Pages in a different language? Does something strange appear on the screen when you type?
Could you perhaps use the Camera icon here to post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
To make sure you have the right keyboard, go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and make sure that only the box for US or British is checked (and that the box for French or German or anything else is not checked). -

Microsoft office professional 2013 encountered an error during setup
Trying to install the 32 bit version of Office 2013. Planning to keep all my old versions. I have Access 2002 and 2003 that I need. Was not installing Outlook 2013 as Outlook 2010 is the only Office app that I care if I have issues with
and my IT dept controls a a bit more. Getting the error "microsoft office professional 2013 encountered an error during setup" with no other info. I have Windows 7, full admin rights, and closed all other Office apps. I Just did a restart
which also installed all current Windows patches. Got the same error.
Any ideas or where to look for the cause?I am having the same problem and am dead in the water.
Just in case one of the suggestions might have worked, I went through all of those above with no luck. At first the issue was that the preview version of the OSE was left behind by the uninstall, but I replaced it with the 2010 version, no dice.
I then uninstalled all office products to get the OSE uninstalled, and setup now gets beyond that hangup, but still fails. Following is the section of the log with the errors (MS email me for the full log):

providing "Microsoft Office 2010 encountered an error during setup:" but does not provide any error codes what so ever.
I have tried upgrading, Fresh installs, side by side installs, Safe mode, Clean boot, Local admin accounts and other domain accounts. I have also tried numerous so called "fixes" but still get nothing. Sadly after the 2010 install fails 2007 no longer works
so each attempt is abit time consuming. Any Ideas out there that might solve issue ?Hi,
First try uninstalling all your Addins include connector to test the result.
If not help, try the following steps:
1) Create a new administrator account.
2) Log on and launch the installer.
If things don't quite work perfectly now:
3) If you receive errors accessing your ProgramData folder, use the TakeOwnership registry hack to take control of the entire ProgramData folder, and if needed, create a "Microsoft Office"
folder with "Microsoft Office 2010 Tools" inside it under %programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu.
4) Your error may return at the end of the installation, but don't worry, it's finished and Office is now installed. Switch user (don't log off!) and go back to your own user. Double-check
that everything works. Now, to turn off your computer, press and hold the power button for five seconds. This will force the computer to shut down instantly, which will close the installer with the error without giving it the opportunity to roll back its changes.

HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Wireless carriage jam message.
I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Wireless. It is on a home wireless network and I am using a new HP laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit). I am getting a carriage jam message that I cannot get removed. Leading up to this, my son did have a paper jam and probably didn't get all the paper removed the first time around. But I have checked thoroughly with a flashlight and there is now no paper anywhere in the carriage. I have followed the video online and still have the same message and I can tell that the carriage is not moving side to side. It stays over on the right side. When the video talks about manually moving the carriage, I can move it very easily manually after I wiggle it a little and move it to the right a little. Then it will move back and forth easily by hand. I have tried to see if something is blocking it, but can see nothing. But then when I try to print a test page, no luck. I have reset it according to the video with no results. I cannot print a test page from the touchscreen or from my computer.
I really like this printer and hope you can help me.I hope you are doing well and sorry lt learn that you are having this issue.
