'Carrier Dropped' modem state hung problem

Hello
We have Cisco 3660 (IOS 12.2(7)) as a dial-up router and a pool of different modems, including Zyxel U-336E Plus (1.0.8), Zyxel Omni Neo v.92, USRobotics Courier. Lines are configured like this:
line 85 86
no motd-banner
no exec-banner
no activation-character
modem InOut
modem autoconfigure type u336ep
no exec
transport preferred none
transport input all
escape-character NONE
autoselect ppp
autohangup
stopbits 1
speed 57600
flowcontrol hardware
The problem occurs on every line, despite of type of modem attached. After some time of operation (very soon, indeed, within 2 or 3 calls to the line) we get following:
# s lin 86
Tty Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns Int

Modem type is u336ep.
Session limit is not set.

Editing is enabled.
History is enabled, history size is 10.
DNS resolution in show commands is enabled
Full user help is disabled
Allowed input transports are pad v120 lapb-ta telnet rlogin.
Allowed output transports are pad v120 lapb-ta telnet rlogin.
Preferred transport is none.
No output characters are padded
No special data dispatching characters
Line remains in this state until 'modem InOut' command issued for this line, or router reloaded. Modem on the line answers normally and passes handshake, but the line protocol remains down.
Can anyone advise anything to fix this?
Thanks in advance

  • Internet connection dropping out throughout day; problem NOT with provider

My computer's connection to the Airport Express base station has no problems at all. But the internet connection goes out literally dozens of times a day (at no predictable schedule); this has been happening for almost a month. I originally thought the problem was with the internet provider, but I'm now beginning to think that either my settings are wrong, or that I have a corrupt file somewhere. Here are the details:
I connect via a cable modem (Time Warner - Road Runner). I know people have had problems with Time Warner, so I assumed that was the issue; however I've had 3 service calls and they've checked signal strength inside and out, and swapped out the modem and the cables. I don't think it is simply problems in our geographic area (i.e. greater Los Angeles) due to the fact that the Internet fails sometimes 40-50 times daily, and the problem began when I upgraded from an old Airport base station to a brand new Airport Express about a month ago.
The airport/internet connection is shared 3 ways: two MacBook Pro computers and one iPhone. My Airport's internet settings are as follows:
    Configure IPv4 using DHCP.
DNS Servers: 66.75.160.63 and 66.75.160.64 (note I have already tried swapping these for OpenDNS -- this did NOT solve the problem)
    Domain name: socal.rr.com
    DHCP Client ID: [blank]
    Ethernet WAN port: Default-Automatic
Connection Sharing: Share a Public IP address
    DHCP Beginning Address: 10.0.1.2
    Ending Address: 10.0.1.200
    DHCP Lease: 4 hours
    NAT settings are all unchecked
One of the main reasons I believe that the problem is with my computer's settings or a corrupt file is that I can fix the problem whenever the Internet "goes down" almost 100% of the time by doing the following: after loading Airport Utility, I make ANY trivial change (i.e. changing the DHCP lease from 4 hours to 5 hours) and then click UPDATE to refresh the Airport base station. This fixes the problem almost 100% of the time. But then, anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours later, the Internet connection goes down again. [Unplugging the power from the modem, waiting 30 seconds, and plugging it back in ALSO fixes the problem almost 100% of the time, until it goes out again a little while later.]
Also, I have tried disconnecting Airport and connecting directly to the cable modem via Ethernet. The problem remains exactly the same -- I can connect, but then the connection fails soon after. Unplugging then replugging the modem fixes the problem temporarily. So I do not think the problem is a defective Airport base station, nor do I think it is the modem (which has been replaced), nor Time Warner.
I can't think of what else to try -- but any advice would be greatly appreciated -- it's impossible for us to work with the Internet constantly going out throughout the day, every day.
    Thank you!

HiHi can you please help me to fix my iPhone 5 when I update it to the iOS 6.1.2 my carrier signal indicator states searching all the time please help me what to do

    Hi Samantha,
Are you aware that if you restore your ipad that you will lose all data from your ipad and very difficult to get it back unless you had previously made a back-up of your data on itunes or in the cloud. and that would be on the computer you set those up on. (There are some independent apps out there that might help restore data but I don't have any experience with them...)
Also, I think if you restore on another computer you're supposed to have administrator rights and have the latest itunes update. And I think if you sync (if restoring is considered syncing with another computer, you'll be locked out of your computer or a new one.)
I don't know if there is a way for you to safely eject your ipad from your mom's laptop and find another way, but please read this
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
Also, I suggest you start a new post and title it something like First, stuck on update and now on Restore on another computer. Please HELP! And then tell the story of your problem that you originally included and your follow-up efforts to restore given a suggestion on previous post (though I think you SHOULD AVOID RSTORE if you can.) And refer them to your original post
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22050045?ac_cid=tw123456#22050045
Hope this helps and if you can get back to your ios before the upgrade, stay with it. I hope it all works out for you.
FYI - If it's a new or refurb bought within the past year you might be able to have it replaced by Apple.

  • Generating the DROP TABLE statements in the correct order

    DB Version:11.1.0.7.0
I have been given a list of 250 unwanted tables to be dropped. Because of the FK dependancy, the DROP TABLE statements has to be in the right order. ie Drop the child table first and then the parent.
Is there way to generate a script (from a given list of tables names) which will create the DROP TABLE statments in the right order?

    Have you tried CASCADE CONSTRAINTS?
    Cheers
    Ben

  • ALTER TABLE vs DROP/CREATE statements

    Hello Everyone,
I have created a script in order to update our database which includes adding new columns to a table. However, database changes and script generation must now be done using the Erwin data modeler and script generated using a compare option (within Erwin) which compares the model with the actual database.
I had a script of a few lines with a few ALTER TABLE ...ADD COLUMN statements to add the new columns.
Now, in Erwin, instead of generating 'ALTER TABLE...ADD COLUMN statements, Erwin has generated an ALTER TABLE...RENAME and CREATE TABLE statements which as a side effect will drop/re-create the table, all of it's indexes, constraints, foreign keys, etc.
Instead of a few simple "hand written" lines to run a fast script, the script is a few pages long with all of those DROP/CREATE statements, which makes the script way too much complicated and takes much longer to run.
And this, even though the Erwin option "USE ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN" statement to create columns.
I was told that the DROP/CREATE is normal and that this is the way it should be done.
Am I out of it by thinking that it should use ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN statements to add new columns to a table and not the DROP/CREATE methodology ? Am I missing something ? Do these new "data thinkers" know something that I am missing ?
Makes me think of the 80s when people were generating dBase application with the included application generator and were ending up with all kinds of useless and non efficient code.
Any though on this ? Am I out in the field ?
    Thank you.

Thank you both for your replies.
    Neil,
I didn't think that adding new blank columns using the ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN statement would make the table more fragmented than it already was to begin with.
I would have think that this kind of maintenance would take place on it's own, outside of a new deployment release.
I have always used the ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN instead of the DROP/CREATE TABLE statements to add new columns to a table because of the simplicity, speed and lower risk involved compare to dropping a table and all of it's objects then re-create all of them and doing an import.
What do any of you do when you need to add new columns to a table ? Use the drop table and re-create or the ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN ?
    Any comments welcome.
    Thanks again.

Hi Roy, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

What the h e l l is bloatware and besides AT&T, Verizon his the fastest 4G LTE service in the US T-Mobile isn't even close compare to them yet, plus who in the world buys sprint's cell phones anymore cause if you look around ebay most people just sells them their now days, sony xperia Z1 should have been here in North America when they started shipping it worldwide that was a bad business decision on Sony's part its unbelievable how they have better cell phone but we have to spend a lot of money for a unlocked version of that phone its ridiculous with sony we can buy a PS4 here but not a Sony Xperia phone without breaking the bank how f**k up is that.

*[1259525001295] [CallState] : Dropping call state without timer: [email protected]*
First and last string varies with each error.
Any idea what this error is for ? Didn't find anything in documentation about this.

Thanks for your reply, Anurag !!
There isn't any known communication issue between engine and data tiers.
None of the Engine Tier JVMs was shut down.
If I want to look further into the possibility of "Engine tier un-responsive for long time", would you please give any details as whats considered as long time etc..
In console log, I don't see anything else around this message, thats related to the error.
A quick search in engine's server log files also didn't give any info.
Also, can I safely assume that this error won't cause any trouble if another engine tier instance picks up the call ?
    Thanks again,
    KeDar

  • Verizon DSL drops out intermittently: problems for 10 months

Subject: Verizon DSL drops out intermittently:  problems for 10 months
    Hi all,
Just wondering if any one can help.  We had Verizon DSL on our home phone line for six years in Worcester MA.  The first five years we had little to problems.  The last 10 months we’ve have frequent (nearly every day drop out and period where the DSL line can’t connect for minutes to sometimes hours).
We’ve had seven different technicians visit us for a total of thirteen visits.  They’ve replaced the line coming into our house multiple times and isolated our home phone lines from the DSL feed but this hasn’t helped. Verizon tech support can’t seem to get back to me with a detailed plan of what they are going to do next and few representatives return my phone calls.
We’ve also tried at least five router and modems and it hadn’t helped.  They recently changed the DSL card(?) in the local office (~7000 ft away) and said they switched us to ADS2.
We’re still seeing internet drops and we’re at our wit’s end.
    Any ideas?
Here’s our transceiver stats from our Verzion 7500 DSL modem combo:
    Transceiver Revision     A2pB020b3.d20h
    Vendor ID Code          4D54
    Line Mode                   ADSL_2plus
    Data Path                     FAST
Transceiver Information            Down Stream Path       Up Stream Path
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)            3358                            863
    Margin (dB)                             9.2                               7.0
    Line Attenuation (dB)               44.0                             19.4
    Transmit Power (dBm)21.0                             12.4
    Thanks,

Well, we're getting pretty fed up.  Here's the letter that we are sending out for a Verizon Presidential Appeal...
    To:
     Verizon, St. Petersburg, FL
    Verizon Technical Team, Worcester, MA
The Department of Telecommunications and Cable, Consumer Division, Boston, MA
    Better Business Bureau
    Dear Sirs,
We are writing to lodge a formal complaint about our Verizon DSL service, and the extremely
poor treatment we have received while trying to resolve this (still unresolved) problem. We have had
intermittent internet outages for the last 12 months. This followed five years of normal DSL service at
the same address. Our problems worsened this spring; our internet is out a few minutes to several
hours a day, most days a week. Our next door neighbors have the same problem with their Verizon
DSL service, though they do not use the internet very often so are less affected than we are. We rely
on consistent internet service for our jobs.
We have had 13 technician visits to our home from a total of seven different technicians. On
multiple occasions, we have also been stood up for scheduled technician visits, including days in
which we took off work to be home. Two of these times in which we were stood up were not visits that
Verizon initiated, where we were told we needed to be home. Additionally, we have received
several “auto-calls” informing us that our problem is fixed and our work tickets have been closed. This
is extremely upsetting to us, as our problem has never been fixed as we have explained many times.
Several technicians have spoke confidently (and condescendingly) that their work would fix our
problem; these are generally the technicians we never saw again.
It is clear from our several calls each month to Verizon that persons and departments within
the company do not communicate with one another. Time and time again, we have been shuffled from
person to person, and now believe that no one wants to expend the effort to deal with our problems.
For example, multiple employees have failed to call us back when they said they would. We have
asked several times for a team of creative thinkers (with the authority to act) to brainstorm some sort
of solution and let us know what Verizon was doing to solve our problem. This has not happened. We
have made extensive notes about our service interruptions and our correspondence with Verizon over
the last several months; these are included in this packet. We also have multiple videos across several
months showing that DSL signal is not available.
We believe that a new line needs to be put in from the local hub to our house, a distance of
only a few blocks. (See notes on reverse of page.) At this point, we have no faith that Verizon is
willing to fix this problem and restore service to us. This is truly a shameful way to do business.
If Verizon is unwilling to restore our DSL service to acceptable levels, we would like Verizon to
Notes: This is what Verizon has told us they have done:
    1. Isolated our phone line from DSL.
    2. Replaced the line from our street to our home.
    3. Switched the F2.
    4. Put us on an A-DSL2 card at the local hub.
We have tried seven DSL modems and six routers without success. The problem is not within
our house; that is clear. We believe a new F1 line is needed. We were even told by a company
representative on the phone “well, DSL is on copper wire…” - basically from our view, an admission
that copper wire can go bad, and that this may be the cause of our problems. We have asked for a
new F1 line to be installed several times and been brushed off each time.

    Hi,
    change V2 to:
    STATEMENT := 'INSERT INTO FILMYARNOLD (FIL_ID, FIL_NAME) VALUES ( ';
    STATEMENT := STATEMENT||VFILMICZKI(1)||','''||VFILMICZKI(2)||''' )';

                 ||','''||VFILMICZKI(4)||''','''||VFILMICZKI(5)||''' )';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement;EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement; One general remark: INSERT can be used directly in PL/SQL, you don't need to bother with dynamic SQL,
and the direct SQL will be probably more efficient than dynamic SQL.
    Try this:
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE
      TYPE FIL_TABLE IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2 (256);
      vfilmiczki FIL_TABLE := fil_table();
      statement VARCHAR2 (2048);

  • ASM Disk offline - State hung

Hey in my ASM configuration I setup this
Disk Path ASM Name Failure Group
    /dev/raw/raw4 Data1 FG1_Data [on SAN1]
    /dev/raw/raw5 Data2 FG2_Data [on SAN2]
    /dev/raw/raw6 Reco1 FG1_Reco [on SAN1]
    /dev/raw/raw7 Reco2 FG2_Reco [on SAN2]
    all good.
    My I switched off SAN1. A query on v$asm_disk shows disk DATA1 & RECO1 as offline - hung state.
I did in the asm instance in sqlplus:
ALTER DISKGROUP DATA DROP DISK data1; -> success
ALTER DISKGROUP RECO DROP DISK reco1; -> success
ALTER DISKGROUP DATA ADD failgroup DATA3 '/dev/raw/raw4'; -> success
ALTER DISKGROUP RECO ADD failgroup RECO3 '/dev/raw/raw6'; -> success
The query on v$asm_disk stills show the DATA1 and RECO1 - but DATA3 and RECO3 as well.
Is it right, that the "old" entries will disappear, once the ASM instance is restarted ? I can´t do this at the moment.
In generell - why went the ASM disks to offline ?
SAN1 was switched off for about 5 minutes - and was then switched back on.
    Is this expected behaviour ?

    Hi Chris,
as long as the information is still partially valid, the devices will be displayed in v$asm_disk. Main reason is: Some Oracle processes still have handles open on these devices, and as long as they exist the devices can still be seen.
A Restart of ASM + database will definitely remove these entries (if they cannot be seen by the operating system).
Regarding your other question: Oracle can only detect if a device is going offline (errors in the database and asm alter log). If a device goes online again, Oracle does not check this (this would be a major overhead to rescan lets say every minute to see if a disk is back online).
Hence you have to reinclude the dropped/offlined disks yourself.
Depending on the version (10g or 11g) and depending on the diskgroup compatibility level for rdbms a disk can simply be returned into the diskgroup (11g - alter diskgroup <dg> set disk <disk> online) and resilvered or have to be reincluded into the ASM instance (no resilvering, but a complete rebalance 10g: alter diskgroup <dg> add disk <disk> to failgroup <fg> [force])

  • Prepared statements related problem

    Hi,
i have this strange problem with prepared statements i think.
When i execute an insert query without prepared statements i works fine (always), when i use prepared statements it sometimes gives a db error saying i'm trying to insert a null value.
The problem is that I'm not!!!
If i were why does it work sometimes?
It may be a bug but i don't know where to look for it... is it a prepared statements, application server or db2 problem?

    This is the code...

  • Drop down menu  accessibility problem

After i've finally thought the dropdown menu's issue is over,
    a new problem arrives.
Everything is working fine in FF, and basically everything is
    working on IE too.
Its just when I use the upper menu (not drop down) to open
one of the pages with dropdown menu, i need to refresh the page be4
i'll be able to see the menu pops.
But if I enter the link directly not via the main site, the
    menu's works fine.
Kinda hard to understand what i mean, this will explain more:
    http://38.113.149.34/
notice the first page is working fine, the menus are opening
    ok.
Now enter one of the other menu's (primer, national, cup)
notice no menu works, now refresh the page and try again.
I'm sure u'll see what i mean now..
Anyone has an idea how to fix it?

Have you asked on the projectseven forum? It might be your
    snap to layers or
    autolayers giving the problem.
Your stylesheet isn't working in IE6 and it's asking me to
    download a
    language pack.
Also, not as many people around on a Sunday as in the week.
I'm having a look but suspect I won't know the answer.

  • Statement terminator problems when exporting data with SQL Developer 3.2

I've ran across what appears to be a bug with SQL Developer 3.2.20.09. If someone can let me know if this is indeed a bug, or just something I need to configure differently, please let me know.
The problem is related to exporting a database as a SQL script, and terminator characters at the end of "create" statements, especially when columns have comments, and problems that occur when using SQLPlus to run the export script to create the tables. With the old SQL Developer 1.5.4, with the "Terminator" and "Pretty Print" options checked, statements like the following are generated:
    -- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
    IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
    -- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
    CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE ;
    -- DDL for Table MYTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
    (     "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" NUMBER,
         "COL3" NUMBER
    -- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
    (     "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
         "COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
    COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.';
When I then run the script using SQLPlus, everything works fine. However, with SQL Developer 3.2.20.09, with the same options enabled, the same statements are generated like this:
    -- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
    IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
    -- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
    CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE ;
    -- DDL for Table MYTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
    (     "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" NUMBER,
         "COL3" NUMBER
    -- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
    (     "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
         "COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
    COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.';
Notice all of the extra slashes in there. If a slash is not used as a statement terminator, SQLPlus treats slashes as a command to repeat the last SQL statement, which causes many errors about tables or sequences already existing. So, I tried removing the "Terminator" flag from the export options. This lead to statements that looked a bit more promising:
    -- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
    IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
    -- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE
    -- DDL for Table MYTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
    (     "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" NUMBER,
         "COL3" NUMBER
    -- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
    CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
    (     "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
         "COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
         "COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.'
The big problem, though, is in the statement for the table with a comment. Notice that there are two statements, but there is not a semicolon after either of them. This unfortunately causes the "COMMENT" statement to be appended to the "CREATE TABLE" statement before being executed, which causes the table to not be created (which causes even more errors later on when the script attempts to populate the table with data).
So, it would appear that this is a bug, but I'm not sure. Is there a way I can configure the export options to make SQL Developer export these statements like it used to in older versions?
    Thanks,
    -Bill

    No.
Leave the thread open. One of the developers for sql developer should be monitoring the forum and can provide more information.
