Catalog in PSE 7.0  Win XP Pro?

Had a system crash  . .   major bummer !
However, I did have a backup image of the hard drive, so I think I'm okay.      I do KNOW I have all the digitals assets  (PSDs  JPGs, etc). However, I cannot seem to locate the catalog I created in Photoshop Elements 7.
Would someone please point me to the location?   I reinstalled PSE 7 on a reformatted drive, and need to point it to the catalog.
Many thanks !

You can search for the .pse7db file in your system. By default the location of catalog is c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs.

  • Re-installing PSE 10 on Win 7 pro 64

I'm having a issue involving re-installing PSE/PE10 onto my new Win 7 pro 64 home build.
    It started with-
I had an issue right in the middle of installing software onto this new machine.
I have multiple Hard Drives installed and during a recovery from being hit with some bugs (malware/virus) during all this installation I thought it best to unplug some of those drives to minimize potential damage.
I had already installed PSE/PE 10 onto those drives and when I finally got back up and running the links to these installed programs no longer worked. Trying to re-define the links proved too much and so I thought a complete re-install of both programs should do it.
    I un-installed both programs
Un-install, cleaned registry, found more folders (reading forums here) deleted those, cleaned registry, rebooted thru several of these processes,..and did manage to re-install PE 10, but PSE 10 is giving me fits and I can't figure out what else to do.
I go to re-install PSE 10 and the only choice I get is to REMOVE the s/w from the pc (even tho it's already uninstalled). Okay, I'll do that and THEN proceed but- after offering to deactivate my software on this pc (okay I can do that) the only option it then gives me is to delete, fine, but when I select that option it then takes me to a window that informs me that the disk doesn't have the room available and even tho other disks are avail to click on, doing so doesn't allow any other selections to be made. The TARGET area (even tho it is for uninstall) is the install disk drive and I can't make another selection. So it ultimately does nothing!
I managed to get PE 10 back onto the drive, what in the world remnants are staying behind to give Win 7 the impression that I still have the program installed and not allowing me to do just that- re-install it??
Could really use some assistance on doing this before I wipe the whole HD as a last resort- ugh!
ps- uninstalled Air, Organizer and any/all folders I could find related to anything Adobe thinking it was interferring with this

    I managed to RegEdit those areas but must have gotten heavy heanded in that, after cleaning all instances of Adobe out of the Registry I get another problem. I just went to try and install PSE 10 after doing as much cleaning as I know how;
checking the registry as you suggested
running a registry tool to check for  missing links etc
rebooting after each pass to clean the drive
When I went to install it tells me an error on the windows installer- "The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your suppport"
I must have taken too much out of the Registry. Is there a method to restore? Would that fix the issue?
    Thanks for the assistance
ps- FYI, upon trying to run the PE10 installer it seems as if that was going to work. I cancelled out of it until I fix the PSE 10 issue. But it did get further than the PSE installer and no error messages.

  • Tried PSE 8, unhappy, problems w/ PSE 5 in Win 7 Virtual

This post is frankly my last hope with Adobe.  I loved PSE 5 in Win XP.  New computer, Win 7 Pro, backed up catalog in old computer, downloaded trial of PSE 8, unable to recover catalog, just a mass of broken links.  Took backup to another computer with PSE 5, recovered catalog and all links intact.  Downloaded PSE 8 on that computer, converted files to PSE 8, backed up in 8, brought back to "new" computer, got catalog and tags, but all links broken.  All attempts to fix broken links failed.  I am completely dissatisfied with 8, and will not buy.  It froze up several times and is frustratingly slow.  Just seems not to be a good product.
Since I liked 5, set up virtual pc in Win 7, installed 5 and still cannot get it to recover from the backup.  Backup is good because it worked on the "other" computer.
Give up on Elements?  Do I gain anything going to CS5?  Sony is looking very good right now.  Any ideas?

Good suggestion.  You are absolutely right that the Editor functions are great.  I am just getting started with GIMP, and if that doesn't work out I will try just using the editor.  I have also learned that the PSE Organizer made me lazy, and now with Picasa I will have to pay a great deal more attention to how I organize folders of images.  In the end, that is a good thing because software comes and software goes, but I want to keep the images; so not relying on the software so much will make it easier to adapt in the future.  The best lessons are learned the hard way.  Thanks to all for the comments.
While I'm sure no one at Adobe give a hoot what I think, I need to say it anyway.  As a former fan, I am totally soured on Adobe products and will now seek out and use open source substitutes for Dreamweaver and Acrobat to the extent possible.  Did the bean counters take control?

  • Elements 8.0 for Win XP Pro 2002 SP3 Editor always crashes

I just installed Elements 8.0 on a Win XP Pro SP3 machine with 2.5 GB of RAM and everytime I try to EDIT from the Welcome page or start the Editor from the Edit menu in Organizer I get a dialog box that it "loading the photoshop elements editor workspace...." and it crashes.    The error is the generic MS error dialog that says
"PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.   The AppName is PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe AppVer:8.0.0.0 ModName unknown ModVer 0.0.0.0 Ofset 00000004"
I can use the Organizer fine and have had NO problems there, but when I try to Create or Edit or anything other than the organizer I get this error.   I have been through all the basic troubleshooting of turning off other items in my startup (virus itunes, etc) and no change.   I also updated my Display Driver NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600 PCI and all with NO luck.
Any ideas or is there somewhere I can get a live person for support?
    thanks
    Dan

Turns out it was my Dell AIO Printer Driver.....   I tried removing it after reading a few other post about PSE 8.0 Editor crashing in Windows 7.  There were two other users that were having the same problem and both had the Dell AIO printers.  My problem was with Windows XP Pro SP3 but uninstalling the driver did the trick
    thanks

  • Nikon D300 RAW and PSE 5.0 (Win)

I have just started to process my Nikon D300 RAW images in my ACR / PSE 5.0 (Win) installation.  The RAW conversion works OK but when I want to remove the actual RAW files from my computer to store elsewhere, the computer will not let me move or delete them because "they are being used by another program or person."
I have also noticed other strange goings on with these RAW files sometimes causing PSE to freeze.
A quick check with the Process Explorer diagnostic tool from Microsoft indicates that something called Photoshop Elements File Agent.exe is still running in the background.  Is this a problem of the RAW files themselves or PSE?  Has any other user met this?  I have backed up "My Catalog", restarted my computer and uninstalled / reinstalled my PSE 5.0 to no avail.
    Any help gratefully received!

    Hi dj_paige
    1. Sorry but Windows XP (SP3).
    2. My current RAW workflow involves deleting the
NEF RAW files from the PSE Organiser after
conversion, copying / backing up the NEF files to
an external HDD (which works OK) and then moving
    them (via standard Windows Explorer
drag-and-drop) from the "Download" folder to an
"Archive" folder on my computer internal hard
drive.  I got the same error message when I tried
to delete them from the "Download" folder.  My
son, who works in computers, put me onto the
Microsoft "Process Explorer" utility, to try and
find which program was still using the files.
    3. I have had no problems with this workflow with
my previous Nikon D70.  My suspicions about the
D300 RAW files arose when the problem happened
with the first one I tried to move / delete.
    4. The other "strange goings on" relate to trying
to reopen one of the affected D300 NEF RAW files
back into PSE Editor.  My PSE5 installation just
stopped.  Today, after having reinstalled my PSE
software, when trying to import one of the
affected D300 NEF RAW files back into PSE
Organiser, I got an error message relating to
"Memory".  As this is all somewhat vague, I will
try to recreate and note the error messages received.
I look forward to any progress on this matter.
    Kind Regards

  • IP address not being set using Win XP Pro with Airport Extreme

    Hi,
I'd appreciate any information on this subject. I got a new Airport Extreme on Friday to replace my DLink G router. Basically is blew up. So I've got it set up and my Vista laptop is running just fine. However, my work laptop which is a Win XP Pro machine can not aquire a network address. It continually says "Aquiring Network Address" and then times out and disconnects. After a lot of looking around and checking out blogs I took a look and it seems that I cannot get an IP address. When ipconfig in cmd it shows not IP address and subnet, etc as 0.0.0.0. OKay, so I try to reboot, I've also tried release renew and still no go. I can connect with a cable to the Airport and receive an IP immediately and obviously I can get directly on the cable modem I am using with Rogers with no issue. So can anyone tell me why over the air I can't get an IP? Did I set something up with this XP Pro machine that doesn't seem to have a problem with Vista?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I haven't been wired and years, slightly unsettling!
    Thanks!

Okay I got it. I couldn't get an IP address and so I found another discussion. One person said to do this:
The "Limited or No Connectivity" indication is because the network adapter has failed to get its IP address by DHCP from the router and Windows has defaulted to allocating a "169.254" IP address.
Try repairing the TCP/IP stack and Winsock. Open a Command Prompt window ("Start > Run", type cmd and click OK).
To repair the TCP/IP stack, at the prompt, type...
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
    ...and press Enter
(note the spaces in the command line). The original prompt will reappear.
To reset Winsock entries, at the prompt, type...
    netsh winsock reset catalog
    ...and press Enter
Exit the Command Prompt window and reboot the PC.
Well that did it! Off I go!

  • Running Dual boot windows 8 and win 7 pro with xp mode installed!! I love it!!

It took over 2 days to figure out how to adjust the bios to get my win 7 pro DVD to boot and install dual boot on this GREAT MACHINE!!
Step 1: using diskmgmt.msc you have to shring the C partition. I shrunk it so I had 80GB remaining as unallocated space.
Step 2: You have to enter the machine Bios adn set the BIOS to Both and UEFI as first
Step 3: Connect your usb dvd
Step 4: Put your win 7 pro dvd in the usb dvd drive
Step 5: Reboot your machine and when it starts press F12 to get the boot menu and select the usb dvd drive then press enter
    The machine restarts
Message on screen says press a key to boot from cd/dvd
Press space and it boots up the win 7 pro DVD
After files copy and load the setup screen asks to accept the agreement and where to install win 7
BE SURE TO SELECT THE 80GB location
Then follow thru the win 7 prompts to load it.
When the machine restarts you will see a dual boot screen with Windows 7 on top as first selection and Windows 8 below it as 2nd selection.
Make sure to hit enter with windows 7 selected
    The win 7 installation completes.
You will see many items with drivers not installed dont fret.
You can load most of the drivers by highlighting the device in control panel/device manager and pick update driver then select BROWSE for DRIVER and be sure to put in drive D:\ which is now the windows 8 drive and hit search.
Many of the windows 8 drivers installed with no issue.
The Realtek driver was an exception .. goto to the lenovo site and pick the x100e tablet and download the LAN driver from there  about (4MB). Copy it to flash drive and install it in win 7 from the .exe file. The driver for LAN will install sucessfully. The version of the driver is 7.46 something the 7.11 versions do not workl.
I have only 3 drivers that I could not find - 2 list as unknown and are related to ACPI or power management and 1 lists as USB controller but all the USB stuff works without it.
Be sure to either shutdown the system or sign out of win 8 when your done so you get the dual boot menu. If you shutdown while logged into win 8 the next time you start up it will go right to win 8 until you signout and restart.
Just to let you know an easy way to shutdown is go to the desktop and press ALT + FN + F4 and a shutdown menu comes up on the desktop.
Once win 7 pro is installed you can download the XP mode free from Microsoft and install it.
This is of course AFTER you have ACTIVATED WINDOWS 7 ONLINE with YOUR ACTIVATION KEY(you supply).
ENJOY! This is the BEST machine I ever had!

It's been many, many years since I don't do dual boot anymore. Don't find the reason to do it, either. Different kinds of virtualization should be enough. Anyway...

  • Steps to be taken if Win XP Pro has to be reinstalled on the desktop attached to WRT54GX2 router...

I have to reinstall Win XP Pro on my primary desktop PC attached to the WRT54GX2 router due to virus/trojan issues. The router is running V22 of the firmware I believe. I will have to reformat the hard drive on the primary PC attached to the router. I have two other desktops that have WMP54GX wireless adapters that are running fine. I've created a config backup file for the WRT54GX2's current config if needed. Can someone give a link or clear step-by-step instructions on what steps I'll need to take after Win XP Pro is reinstalled on the primary PC to reestablish my network. Will I need to config backup file at all or will the router/wireless adapters be largely unaffected by the OS reinstall? Thanks in advance, Chris

    Hi!
     Chris,
If in case you reinstall the O.S of the wired P.C..... In Normal cases you don't have to do anything with the router.........because the router does not install any settings on a P.C .
Once you have reinstalled the O.S(operating system)..does powercycle the entire        network(i.e  first unplug the power from the  router...then the powercable from the modem....wait for 30 sec..and then power on the modem first...wait for the lights on the modem to become stable and plug in the router...) and your P.C should be able to connect to the internet..
And as your wireless P.C's are working fine you don't have to work on them at all..
If in Case you still face any issues...Revert Back to me!!

  • Win 7 Pro not connecting to remote Win 7 pro via port 3389

I have a new Dell XPS 8700 Win Pro 64 bit that will not connect to work machine of same specs, i.e, XPS 8700 Win 7 Pro. Ironically an old lap top running XP Pro
will connect to work computer. I have a new Dell laptop with Win 8.1 pro that will not connect either.  I tried everything, uninstalled Symantec End point, shut off the Windows Firewall, did a complete
hardware check via Dell Diagnostics, made sure network discovery was on as well as all remote services, turned on RD, changed every setting on the  RD dialog box, pinged the external IP and it timed out. None of the forums seem to have an answer and I
am at wits end. I set up 15 machines at work under Win 7 for RD and all are working with Win 7 Pro.

    Hello Al Wayne,
    What is your current situation?
Please share us more information for better analyzation as Frederik Long mentioned.
Do you mean that the Dell XPS 8700 and laptop can’t RDP to work Windows 7 machines, but the Windows XP laptop can RDP to?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Share us the result of command ipconfig /all in the source and destination computers
    2. Check if we can ping the Windows 7 machines from the Dell XPS 8700 and laptop

  • Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro on W530

My W530 arrives in a few days.  It is pre-configured for Win 7 Pro, but comes with a Win 8 Pro installation DVD.
I know Win-7 reasonably well.  I've installed Win-8 on several laptops, keeping what's good (the updated OS), adding the "start" button, and rarely, if ever, dealing with the "Metro" screen.
For those of you who have used both, is the W530 equally useful with either OS, or is there a good reason to use one other than the other?
I assume all the future development from Microsoft will be going towards Win-8, the new "Windows Blue" that will be available sometime soon, and that Win-7 will eventually get much less attention.  I think that's a good reason to start out with Windows 8 now, unless the W530 works better with the older OS.
Any advice from people who have used both?

    Hi mikemyers
If you are still using some legacy applications or games, it is better to use Windows 7. (Some of the current games are still not compatible for Windows 8)
If you are only using new applications, it is better to use Windows 8 as it provides better overall and much better startup performance.
Personally, with the start button with "StartIsBack", I would prefer Windows 8 for better performance and battery life.

    Hi,
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again"
I've got the error (80071A91) that others have experiences while trying windows update and for the life of me I cannot get the updates to install.
Looking for the past 4 hours via Google, trying different recommended things and still no luck

    # SFC /scannow causes the "repair status message" and asks for reboot.
I've downloaded fix-it, tried booting into a system repair/restore disk using command line to run
    #sfc /scannow /offline....
using the dispart to LIST VOLUMES  (based on this http://mikemstech.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/how-to-perform-offline-system-integrity.html )
I've tried #fsutils resourse set autorevert=true (or something, can't find the exact post as I've rebooted so many times)
I've tried dismc.exe (or similar without success)
Basically I'm stuck with these updates (~10 of them) always sitting there downloading, installing every time I shut down the PC.
Running a system repair disk created in windows still does not allow #sfc /scannow....
My Last system restore was 04/08/14 and I cannot even restore the system to this point as the restore fails and asks to remove itself once I restart the system.

I have the Optical drive setup as O: and a Daemon tools virtual drive as drive E:
While running DISKPART and using LIST VOLUME I see this:

Any information or help on this is appreciated. I don't want to reformat and reinstall, I don't really want to 'repair' and wipe my current software installation so I'm hoping there is a way.
Anyway I can get the 'pending state' removed.?
    Thanks in advance

Hi, I've rebooted into Repair mode (Console), (because repair said windows is installed on E:) run dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This gave a message about small scratch space but did say something out a fix. Upon reboot into safemode with console I received the same message
    "C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.  Restart Windows and run sfc again."
I then rebooted and tried SCF again, no luck... Same message, same updates still sitting there.

Personas which have been working for a long time suddenly quit working on Win 7 and Linux. I tried changing to a different persona to change the background for the top border of the window and it just goes to some odd color and the personas just don't show up. This has been with Firefox 30, 31, 32. The personas still work with Win XP Pro run as a virtual machine on Win 7 host or Win 8 host. I thought it was a Windows thing until I saw the same problem with Linux. Everything else seems normal so this isn't a real bad problem. It's just odd.

  • Lightroom 5.6 on Win 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 tying up CPUs, running very slowly

    Hi,
I have Lightroom 5.6. Whenever I use the Spot removal, Graduated filter, Radial filter or Adjustment brush tools in the develop module, it ties up the 6 CPU cores (as viewed in Task Manager) so everything goes very slowly. For example, the effect of a stroke with the Adjustment brush only appears on screen after 5 seconds or more.  Sometimes it gets so bad that I have to kill the process and restart Lightroom.  It affects other programs running at the same time, as they can't get enough CPU.  It is basically unusable. An edit that should take five minutes can take an hour.
The problem happens when I either
In the Library module I select an image that I have previously used the tools mentioned above on
    or
In the Develop module when I use those tools.
It is not just an issue with Lr 5.6 - previous versions also did this on my system.
    My workflow is:
Browse the library module, adding images to a collection (Canon EOS 7D raw)
For each image in the collection I:
    Select the image
    Create a virtual copy
Stack the original and copy together
    Edit the copy
Export AdobeRGB 16 bit PSD to Photoshop for sharpening and conversion to CMYK
Place the image into my InDesign document
I occasionally use Perfect Photo Suite 8.x on my images from within Lightroom.
I have been a software developer for over 30 years, so I'm not doing anything stupid. Lightroom is just spinning the CPU cores to no effect, like it has a thread or threads in an infinite loop.
I typically have Lightroom, Photoshop (CC or CS6) and InDesign CS6 running at the same time.  All three together occupy just over half of the available RAM.
I have a prettty fast machine (see the specs below) and other software does not tie it up like this (except rendering video in Pr or Ae, which I expect).
I have tried googling for an answer, with no success.
I feel this is an issue that Adobe ought to provide technical assistance for, given the technical nature and severity of the problem.
    Please help.

Thank you curve8530curve8330 for stepping up and helping me out ...
I think I'll try re-installing the BB Desktop Software 7.1.0.41 ... the ' ... no  BB Device Software installed ... ' GUI message has me concerned that there has been a Registry disconnect somehow involving the USB driver software registered with BB D. S. 7 ... this would indeed be a Windows 7 problem ... I'll update the thread and give you credit for pointing me in this direction ... if it works.
However, to be clear, I am connecting my 9630 using a USB interface cable connected to a USB 2.0 port on the Win 7 system ... I am not removing the 8GB MicroSDHC card from the phone and then utilizing a MicroSD to SD adapter or SD port ... whatsoever.
And , as for connecting via another computer, now that I have thought about this some more, that may have been what precipitated the problem in the first place ... I had experimentally tried re-connecting the 9630 to an XP Pro SP3 32-bit notebook loaded with BB D. M. 5.0.1.28 ... (after never having done so again since the Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit / BB D. S. 7.1.0.41 system came into use).  I don't see, off-hand, how that could have caused this issue, however, the coincidence is too large to ignore.

    iTunes vers is: 11.1.0.126
Computer OS is Win 7 Pro (anti virus is Microsoft Essentials, Firewall is ZoneAlarm)
I have manged to connect the phone to iTunes ... so there is a backup. However, that was a while ago and it's pot luck.
Even when I did connect it required several plugging and unplugging to get a connection.
NB - the computer is recognising the iPhone as I can d/load pictures from Photos and charge via the computer.
(As a clue: wall charge also requires often 6 plug in and out before it connects and begins charging so I use the computer mostly).
I've been through the list provided by Apple Help.
Also I remove Apple from devices so that it installs afresh.
And I have Stopped and Restarted Apple Mobile Device.
I have tried with firewall off (but when it did connect ages ago same firewall was on)
Unable to turn off MSE and really ought not have to uninstall.
So ... if you are into a techie challenge please take on my case.
No offence intended but not interested in amateur good ideas like "try another usb port" (have tried main and subsidiary port)....
I'm franly disappointed, frustrated and tired of the process but remain open to expert input.
thx for reading this post and should you offer expert advice then in advance may I thank you.
    best wishes,

Never mind answering this question. I was able to figure out a way to fix the problem on my own. All I needed to do was install the Itunes update by itself and then I was able to open Itunes with no trouble.
