CATS_APPR_LITE - restricting ability to approve own time

I have a question regarding transaction CATS_APPR_LITE. Is this transaction intended to be used only by "master" time administrators?
My reason for asking is that I cannot find a way to restrict a user who has access to this transaction from approving their own time. I can restrict this capability when they use CAPS, but the same P_PERNR and/or P_ORGIN authorization objects restrictions don't seem to work in CATS_APPR_LITE. To give you some more background, I've created three levels of security around time entry/approval. The first level restricts the user to only enter their own time. This role is assigned to all users. The second level allows a user to enter time for another employee in the same organizational key. This role is assigned to all managers and admin assistants (in addition to the first level role mentioned previously). The third level allows a user to approve time within their organizational key. This role is assigned to department managers (in addition to the two previously mentioned roles) so they can approve their staff's time but not their own (at least when they use CAPS to approve time). However, we also have CATS_APPR_LITE included in this role so users have an option between the two time approval transactions. Should we just disallow using CATS_APPR_LITE or am I missing something in my authorization object restrictions? I would think these two time approval transactions would perform identical authority checks but they obviously don't. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I ran traces for both CAPS and CATS_APPR_LITE while trying to approve my own time. For CAPS, there appears to be several more auth checks performed than with CATS_APPR_LITE. I'm not sure I understand the significance of lines with RC=0 versus RC=4. Are RC=4 lines auth checks that failed? How do I determine which auth values to include?

we're looking for the way to restrict ability of users, that access to CATS_APPR_LITE transaction, to approve hours only entered by specific CID(s).
Is there a specific authorization object that drive the ability to approve hours?
and is there a similar object that drive the users accessing CAT7 to transfer data in controlling (data about hours in WBS)?

Hi Martin, thank you for response...I used authorization trace and executed the CATS_APPR_LITE transaction...I didn't find a specific authorization object that could help me to restrict approval of hours of specific CID(s)...
the BADI solution how could be implemented? Do we need the creation of some customization tables (approver CID-->CID to be approved)?
in CATS_APPR_LITE could we create and set specific LAYOUT that restrict the view of only specific hours for specific approvers?

MSS: Approve working times

Dear experts,
a user runs a MSS transaction "Approve working times" but he receives the message: "No data exists that needs to be approved".
The user who runs this transaction is holder of chief position in the organizational plan and one position reports to him.
If the same user runs the transaction "cats_appr_lite" in SAP R/3, records to be approved are displayed.
The MSS user uses the profile "SAP Approval by Line Manager".
Why there are no data displayed in MSS transaction?

What about this situation? Manager 1 would like Manager 2 to approve the working time of his staff while away from the office. We setup a substitution in the UWL of Manager 1 to give time approval tasks to Manager 2. Manager 2 receives the tasks as expected. When executing the task (Approve working time) however, the employees from Manager 1 do not appear in the list. I would expect that Manager 2 should see and have the ability to approve the time.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated on this type of substitution.

How to activate multiple approval in time sheets

Hi Experts,
I have a business requirement where we require multiple approval of time sheets. The requirement is is such that either of the two managers or the director should be able to approve the time sheets of the consultants.
We use project systems and we have assigned the director as the person responsible in the project and the managers for person responsible for the WBS elements and the consultants have been assigned to the WBS elements. As of now only the director can approve the time sheets of the consultants. (i.e the person responsible for the project). But we want the ability where the other 2 managers also to approve the time sheets.

Approve Working Time WDA

Hi.
We have just implemented Web Dynpro ABAP based Approve Working Time application (Collective Approval iView) replacing the Java based version.
A manager complains that now he has to go into each and every of his employees recordings to check their daily recording while he in the old Java based version could see everything in one view when he clicked the 'Review' button. Off course this is a setback in usability.
To my question:
Is there any way we can offer the same functionality in the ABAP version so that a manager with a single click can see all daily recordings by his employees?
We are running ECC 6 EhP6 and NW 7.31 SP11.

Approve Working Time Error

We are on EP7 with ECC6.0 as backend.
We are trying to use the Approve Working Time iview in MSS but it gives the following error:
Critical Error
A critical error has occured. Processing of the service had to be terminated. Unsaved data has been lost.
Please contact your system administrator.
The ASSERT condition was violated., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
We have maintained the following customizing in backend(
1.Define Approval view: SAP_LINE ( SAP Approval by Line Manager)
2.Define Field Selection for Individual Approval view: SLIN1 and with it Field customizing Field label
Personnel Number , Attendance or Absence Type,Text for Attendance or Absence Type, WorkBreakdown Structure Element, Receiver Order etc.
3. Define Field Selection for Detail View: Attendance, Counter etc
4.Define Profiles and Assign to Views: SAP_Line: Initial View=SAP_Line.
5. Create Rule Groups: SAP Standard( 01)
6 Adjust Webmo feature: Time Sheet Application..assigned rule group: SAP Standard(01)
The Approver is a Manager with A012 relationship with a particular org unit.
Kindly suggest where may lie the problem.....we have a requirement of Collective Approval of Working Times of his subordinates by the Manager.
I would like to add here that we are able to approve Working time requests individually through UWL...but we need to use the Approve Working Time Iview.

We are using the standard taskTS20000460. But we want to use the Approve Working Time service iview.
When we were using the evaluation path for approving the working time data through A012( Chief) in MSS, we were able to see all the working times recorded by the subordinates of the said Chief( Manager) in the service Approve Working Time itself, we did not necessarily have go to UWL and approve from there....Now after we have made the required changes in the evaluation path and made A002 as the approver, the same iview Approve Working Time has a message that "No date exists that needs to be approved'.
At the same time we are able to view and approve the working time data from UWL of A002.
Is there a change that needs to be done in the service to get it working ? or it this because of some other reason.
Please advise.

Control to Stop Users Inputting their own Time Data?

You have to use the authorization object P_PERNR with the value E = Authorization for all personnel numbers excluding own personnel number for field PSIGN while creating the authorization profiles and assigning to HR roles.

MSS: Approve working time Program "       " not found error

I am able to enter working time and release in ESS. CAT2, CAT4 and CAT6 are also working fine. Im using the Approve Time sheet data iView in MSS to approve working time. Im not sure if I did all the required configuration in IMG Approve working time.But when I click the iView I get a Java exception as shown below. Pl find the ST22 dump also. Hello,
You need to update the CATSWF transaction not to transfer immediately. Also in the approval profile for the iview SAP_Line uncheck the box to transfer immediate.

Hi StefanF,
You need to first create the timebase that you want (in this case with a 0.5 increment) using the "Generate Numeric Channel" ANALYSIS function, then use the resulting time channel in the "Linear Mapping" ANALYSIS function for each of the original channel pairs.

I have maintained the CATS_APPR_PROF parameter in my login ID. and in backend i have used the workflow TS31000006. Time administrator(radiobutton selected), with approval procedure(radiobutton selected), checkbox checked (with sap business workflow) as well as checkbox checked (with auto determination of recipient).
I am applying the overtime from ESS screen. I am able to record, able to release also. i run the CATS tcode in backend i shows my pending overtime approvals, but it is not showing in UWL. I haven't selected the approver in this process as it didn't asked me anywhere. So whose UWL should i check?. wht am i missing???????

Hi,
You can restrict the key figures of an InfoProvider for reuse by selecting one of more characteristics. The key figures that are restricted by one or more characteristic selections can be basic key figures, calculated key figures or key figures that are already restricted. Which means you can define and use them globally in reporting for a particular infoprovider.
Example:
You have to show the sales for different product typessay 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, for a company code.
now you can define a RKF with company code and sales keyfigure.
In the report, in columns, you use this RKF in new selection and restrict it with product type in 6 diff columns.
New Selection.
Restrict it with RKF
Restrict it with product type 1.
similarly for others..

Have you tried turning off automatic transitions ? Choose file - project properties and follow the dialogue box to change duration with a slider. iMovie also doesn't allow a transition to be more than 50% duration of the clip its attached to. In other words if the clip is 4 seconds the transition cannot be more than 2 seconds and remember that relates to the first clip as the following clip (right side) is pulled back to overlay it.

Approve Working Time in MSS

Hello,
I want to implement "Time Sheet approval" in MSS and I read that it is available as a webdynpro application under the Workset "Team" which should have certain service links in the navigation panel one of which is "Approve Working Times" but the thing is that I do see various overview iviews under the workset but I don't see the service links...how can I get that working ....also how do I configure Time Approval using standard workflow.

Disregard that previous post....I was thinking of another part of MSS that is part of HF still (sorry, working on HF stuff today...haha). now...back to your problem....
In the standard MSS role, you should see:
Manager Self Service (role)
+ Reporting BW
+ Reporting CR
+ Reporting IAC
--> Home (workset)
--> Manager Self Service (workset)
+ Overview (folder)
+ Work Overview (workset)
+ Team (workset)
>Team (webdynpro proxy page)
> Employee information (folder)
> Employee Working Times (folder)
+++ Approve Time Sheet Data
>Performance Mgmt (folder)
>Compensation Mgmt (folder)
etc.
Are you SURE you copied all of this over and have that folder structure? Also, if you open the TEAM (webdynpro proxy page) object (go to it via the delta-link tracer in the role, then select the item in the tracer and pick "show in catalog" to find it and open it).....from the "Display" drop down (next to the row of buttons at the top of the edit screen) pick "Dynamic Navigation". This will show you the "Services" iView. This "Services" iview is what shows all those folders (under the TEAM page in the role laout) as items in the detailed navigation panel. The folder is the "subsection" title and the items in the folder are the actual links (like the "Approve Time Sheet Data" one under the Employee Working Times folder.
