Cause conflicts with multiples platforms?

Have been using LR for a while and enjoy most of it but then thought I might
check out with other programs have to offer like ACD See. Think I have tried
others in the past, but they didn't grab me. Anyhow, this question isn't
about what is better, but rather, will or could there be issues by having
multiple photo management programs on my machine and have them linking to
the same images and such? I mean, the databases of the programs will stand
on their own and therefore I thought it shouldn't, but then maybe it would
be best to get some insight here? Thanks much for any insight you can
provide!

No...no "conflicts" but I would question the value of doing so...as it stands, right now only Camera Raw and Bridge CS3 can really "work together" for anything other than just metadata. Meaning only Lightroom & Camera Raw 4 (and I suppose CR 3.7 in CS2) can show images with the correct renderings based on image settings.
So adding other DAMs into the mix will not really help, it may only confuse the issues.
I would argue also that having multiple DAMs will, in effect mean you may not master any of them. I mean although Lightroom is supposed to be easy to learn, it still take time & effort it to really be good at it. And other programs will also require time & effort to become good at using them. Splitting your time for anything other than testings would be, I think, a waste...

Starting PG with CUCM PIM causes conflict with previous PG with CUCM PIM

So far I've got running PG1 with CUCM and CVP PIMs, and PG5 with CUCM and VRU PIM (for 3rd party VRU). They both seem to be running well.
Now I've added PG6 with CUCM and VRU PIMs, and when it is started, PG6 causes conflict with PG5 - rtr log shows right away that PG5 CUCM PIM got disconnected, not operational, and offline.
Is there some limit on the number of times CUCM PIM can be added to various PGs?
The system is Cisco UCCE 9.0.

But I am actually running several more PGs on the same system but they all VRU PGs.
I've got PG4, PG7 VRU running.
Does VRU fall into a different category?
BTW, we have another system UCCE 10.5 and my co-worker claims that he could not create 3rd PG, the system only allowed him 2 PGs per system.
On the system that I am using that is UCCE 9.0.3, I can create as many PGs as I want - the system does not limit PGs at all.
Is this something new with 10.5? Or is it different configuration mode (production versus development)?

Adobe X Standard conflicts with multiple scanners?

If I add a second scanner to my home network, will the Adobe X Standard software create a conflict when it sees the two devices? I will be just scanning one document at a time.

No problem with multiple scanners. If they are supported scanners you will have a choice. If you install an unsupported scanner it will be ignored.

Activating Mail account on iPhone causes conflict with Mail on iMac

I've been using my iPhone 4 to send/receive work e-mail via our Exchange server with no issue. However, when I tried to set up my phone to send/receive my home e-mail (provided by Cox Communications), it immediately caused a conflict with Apple Mail on my iMac. When I launch Mail on the iMac, I'm informed that the account is in use on another device and I need to work offline. I'm leaving for a 2-3 week trip and would really prefer not to have to log into the Cox webmail app all the time.
Is there a way to avoid this conflict and still enable me to get home e-mail on my iPhone?
BTW - I've contacted Cox and they've informed me that they provide no advanced e-mail support for any e-mail applications used by Macs.

As already provided, this is a POP account limitation that doesn't apply to an Exchange or IMAP account.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. Only one email client at a time can communicate with the incoming mail server for a POP account - to check the account for new messages and/or download new messages available at the incoming mail server. When a 2nd email client attempts to check the account for new messages while another email client is doing the same or while another email client is downloading new messages available at the incoming mail server, the incoming mail server will temporarily lock out the 2nd email client from communicating with the incoming mail server.
Not a problem with an Exchange or IMAP account which are designed to be accessed by more than one email client with the ability for more than one email client to be accessing the server for the account at the same time.

QT is causing conflict with my blog and podcasts

I have a blog and do a lot of podcasts. QT is conflicting with the software that I use to post the podcasts and my being able to listen to them.
how can I adjust the QT so that I can still have it for Itunes but not have it conflict. I must have FLASH as the default for FLV and WSH files for my podcasts

I had removed QT yesterday and everything was fine. Everything was fine until last week when something downloaded from itunes and voila.. no play bar was showing up on my computer

I'm not sure if this will be of help or not. You might need to uncheck Flash media in QT settings for Browser>Mime settings and File types, take a look at. 4.1 QuickTime plugin takes over Flash.

Also if you open the Folder Options control panel click on File Types, you might be able to make some adjustments in there.

Im having problems with my Kids facetime accounts that seem to be because they are both using my itunes and there are conflicts with multiple email addresses? Is it possible to now set the kids up with their own accounts without losing their apps etc

I have my kids using iTunes via thier ipods etc through my own account and this hase been the case for some time?
This has started to cause issues lately with imessaging and facetime, as there seems to be a limit on email addresses that can be associated with one account?
I wonder if I would be best off setting the kids up with their own accounts, but want to be able to do this without them losing their existing apps, music etc?
Is this possible, if so is there a simple process cos I can seem to find anything relating to this?

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

Deleted users cause conflicts with new users

If I delete a user in WGM and renove their home folder from the sharepoint, I get a conflict error if I try to create a brand new user with the same name (shortname) as the deleted user/s. I'm not using the Mail service at all in OS X Server.
Where else do I search for user records to purge?

2. Click on the 'target' symblol tab that appears next to the users/groups/computers tab in teh laft-hand, lower pane.

Conflicts with multiple VIs

Hi, we have a setup where we would like 2 VIs to read from a common high speed ADC. The first VI is a "housekeeping" VI which monitors a few channels on the ADC, mostly monitoring temp and pressure in a dewar. The second VI sends commands to an outside box to have it change the input to one of the ADC channels, and then records the voltage from that channel. Actually, for every cycle we record four different values in succession and write it to file. The problem is when we increase the rate (say to 1-5 seconds per data point) at which the "housekeeping" VI acquires data the second vi does not work correctly. Is there something in LV that can make these two (and maybe three) VIs not conflict when accessing the ADC? Please note that I am
new to LV programming, my apologies if this question should be directed to another category. Thanks for any insight!

Without doing a lot of work, synchronizing communication to the same piece of hardware from different and independant VIs (or any other software for that matter) is next to impossible. It would be far easier to have a single VI that acquires all channels and then pass the data to different VIs that display what you want. You could do this a lot of different ways. The dispaly VIs could be subVIs of the the main VI that does all of the acquisition or the main VI could de a Datasocket server and your display VIs are Datasocket clients.

Network Service Order Causing Conflict with Private DNS on Local Network

I'm currently working on deploying a Snow Leopard Server-based setup for a university student-run television station, using a Mac mini Server. Because our university's own networking infrastructure is somewhat wonky and restrictive, I have recently networked our station's six other computers and the Mac mini Server together through wired Ethernet, using an AirPort Base Station as a router along with some D-Link Ethernet switches.
As a result, our computers are networked together on their own network completely independently from our university's network, but because this wired network has no internet access, all of our computers connect to our university's wi-fi network over AirPort for internet access.
I've set up Snow Leopard Server with a private DNS name "atvserver.private" and am intending to use this server internally for file sharing, directory services, and Wiki Server (and possibly Podcast Server). However, because of the service order in Network Preferences, if our client computers are set to give AirPort priority, then they can connect to the internet, but cannot connect to the server's private DNS. On the other hand, if our client computers are set to give Ethernet priority, they can connect to the server, but lose their internet connection.
The only solutions that I can think of are:
1) Bridge the university's internet connection on our private wired network (but the university will not allow us to do this because it violates their security policies), or
2) Come up with some way to bypass the networking service order so that "atvserver.private" goes to the Ethernet network, while everything else goes to the public internet over AirPort.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

The issue has nothing to do with the IP addresses/subnets in use. It's about DNS resolution.
Fortunately the solution is simple.
Configure the DNS server on the SLS with the zone(s) for your private LAN.
Enable DNS forwarders with the IP addresses of your university's DNS servers.
Point your clients to your SLS for DNS service.
Now all DNS requests from these clients will go to your server. For zones this server is responsible for (i.e. your private LAN) the server will reply, for all other lookups it will refer to your university's DNS servers for resolution.
In this way your clients can resolve your private zones, the university's zones and public DNS hostnames. Problem solved

Each time I connect to my IBM computer it crashes with blue screen error message pops up. Apple say that it's my printer/camera drivers. The problem is with iTunes, it likes to play with all the ports on my comp and conflicts with prnt drivers. How to fix

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without disabling my printer. It's very frustrating. It's either I have my iPad or my printer. iTunes likes to play with the ports on my computer thereby causing a conflict with my printer drivers. Apple should fix this problem, I'm so annoyed.

Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.

I've poured through support forums for Mozilla Firefox searching for a fix to my initial problem of the "Warn when closing multiple tabs" pop up not popping up when I have it selected.
Went through About:Config, making sure warnings for tabs und closing, und showing on quit, und quitting, etc. were all set to true, which were "possible" fixes for the issue I was having, there are like five or six things set to true for warnings/quitting/etc. No avail. They are all set to true.
Then I stumbled across one that suggested a conflict with the "Warn When Closing Multiple Tabs" und the "Show Windows und Tabs from last time".
I use both features. However, I found if I want the warning pop up for closing multiple tabs, I have to have "show homepage" or "show blank page" selected instead of "Show windows und tabs from last time" selected. (Tools>Options>General>Start Up>When Firefox Starts:) The problem with this is, yes, I get my warning pop up, BUT, I don't get my tabs from my last session.
The warning in settings (Tools>Options>Tabs>Warn Me When Closing Multiple Tabs) is checked.
To have my tabs restored from last session, I simply select it for "when firefox starts". Bam, I have my tabs that were open from the last time I quit. Und again, full circle, I don't have my warning pop up.
There were also suggestions of the warning on close for tabs is conflicting with add-ons.
However, I don't have many. Und I have yet to test them to see if they interfere. These are according to my Add Ons tab when I check it myself.

Flash is notorious for causing Firefox problems. I suggest you start a new thread about that. If at all possible you should try to avoid downgrading to an unsecure & unsupported version of Firefox. it will increase risks to your system and Personal data. (There are methods of mitigating the risks, using a virtual machine or operating within a secure intranet for instance)

Mail with Multiple POP & Platform

I use multiple pop accounts and multiple platforms to access those accounts. If I access an email from another account (Windows Outlook) I will never see they message appear in my Mac Mail even though it is still on the pop server. How can I get Mail to show want is in that account? It ignors everything that Outlook grabs weather its read or not.

This problem with Gmail is "normal" and there is nothing you can do about it. Gmail POP access does not work as a normal POP mail server would:
1. Messages downloaded by any POP mail client are marked as downloaded at the server, and no longer available to either the same or any other mail client.
2. To make already downloaded Gmail messages available for POP access again, you must log into your Gmail account with a web browser and re-enable POP downloading for all your messages, which will cause everything (and I mean everything) still there to be downloaded again.
3. Any "Remove copy from server" account settings in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced have absolutely no effect on the messages stored on the server. The reason is that, after being downloaded, those messages are no longer available to any mail client, not even to the same client that has just downloaded them, not even for deleting them or checking whether they are still there.
4. Messages created and sent using the web interface will be downloaded by your POP mail client as if they were incoming messages. You can set up a rule in Mail to automatically route those messages to the appropriate Sent mailbox (or to any other mailbox for that matter) if that's what you want. Although this may seem weird, it's good because it allows archiving all messages locally in Mail, regardless of how they were sent -- as long as you don't access the same Gmail account with more than one mail client, that is.
5. Messages created and sent using a POP mail client such as Mail are also treated as if they were incoming messages for POP purposes, just as in 4. What prevents them from being downloaded is that Gmail marks them as already downloaded immediately. They would, however, be downloaded if Gmail settings were changed as described in 2 above.

MS Word 2007 causes a conflict with PhotoShop CS5

When I'm creating PowerPoint presentations (which I do a lot), I have PhotoShop open to edit pictures as I go. If I open MS Word too, I cannot select anything on any of the PhotoShop menus (they do not highlight). As soon as I close Word, all is well again. I'm running Windows 7 Premium 64-bit, with 64-bit PhotoShop and 32-bit Word. The computer is a Sony Vaio with a fast Core i5 processer and 6GB of RAM, so it should be able to cope with multiple applications open at once.
I'm pretty sure this is a graphics-related problem caused by Word, since I notice that Solitaire and the other Windows games slow to a crawl when Word is open too.
Has anyone else had this specifically with PhotoShop and, if so, have you found a solution?
If you use Word and PS, please could you try and duplicate this problem?
If you have Word 2010, please could you see if it has the same problem?
