Cell service stinks!!!!!!!! Good bye Verizon?

I have been a Verizon customer for several years now and have always been happy with my service. I moved to GA about two years ago and all my
problems started. I never had an issue with dropped calls or losing service but it appears that Verizon has little presence in my area (despite their claims).
My area code is 30028 and when I first moved service was ok. In the last few months I can't even make a call anywhere in my house, on my deck or anywhere in my neighborhood. Texting work fine but I need to make calls. If not I need to dump Verizon.

    Hello RandyWatson13s,
Your loyalty is appreciated and we definitely want you to experience great service. Is the issue happening indoors or outdoors? Is it everywhere in 30028 or just your home? Do you also experience difficulties with data? Please share more details so we can better assist.

So I goggle Verizon speed test I choose the “test my internet speed” It goes to “test your lousy internet to our business zoom-zoom fios!!!!!!!” http://www.verizon.com/smallbusiness/internetspeedtest/ Down 1.37 up .71 Now that’s interesting, as the speed is half of speakeasy.net website. So I choose the Verizon speed test on the left. http://www.verizon.com/home/fios-quantum-internet/speedtest.html down 2.90 up 0.71 Now the speed is almost the same as speakeasy.net Must be a mistake. So I run the test on each website several more times. Same results. Is it possible Verizon has deliberately throttled the business site speed by 50% to game the speed??????? Won’t run speed test. Just sits at preparing download test. 08/16/2014 Get email on my smart phone. Yes, my phone. Can’t get emails from the the dsl line, or net access. “Verizon is experiencing a service disruption”. Notice its Verizon, not the customers, who have the disruption. The best part is it tells the customer to go to a web site to check on the outage. The web page I can't access as the dsl signal is down. What does the web page say, you ask??????? “We are having a disruption of service and are trying real hard to get it back up”. Again. I have finally dumped Verizon “enhanced” dsl for charter.net cable internet access. I went from this: down 2.90 up 0.71(sometimes) To this: down 63.54 up 3.31 Sixty-three point fifty-four mbps Charter cable, internet only cable box What a coincidence, now that I have real “enhanced” internet speed, Netflix flys like a rocket. No rebuffering, no “internet service not available”, no waiting for the movie to reload if I fast forward/rewind. And the best part is……. Drum roll, Please rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.(cymbol crash)! Fri, 30 May 2014 01:31:59 an email from Verizon Dear Valued Verizon Customer, We realize you have choices when it comes to choosing your Broadband provider, and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for being a loyal customer and for choosing Verizon. In order to continue to bring you quality service and product innovation, at times we need to raise our rates. Your monthly rate will increase by $3.00 That was all I needed to switch to Charter. So I’m going from $35 a month for slow and many times nonexistent service, to $40 for service that is 10 to 20 times faster, and doesn’t demand a bribe, err, a voluntary contribution from Netflix not to be throttled. And does anyone really believe Verizon position why net neutrality is bad????? Verizon Says It Wants to Kill Net Neutrality to Help Blind, Deaf and Disabled People http://billmoyers.com/2014/06/13/verizon-says-it-wants-to-kill-net-neutrality-to-help-blind-deaf-and... Verizon lobbyists are canvassing Capitol Hill with a curious new argument against net neutrality — it hurts disabled people. BAWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA The sad fact is Verizon, and all of the copper wire providers can't wait to dump you. I also cut the satellite/cable TV plans, as 500 channels and nothing to watch. I live in L.A. and are fortunate to have FREE DIGTAL over the air TV. So I programmed my TV to the 15 stations I only watch, use netflix, or gasp, read a book!!!!!!!!! So, good-bye Verizon. Adious. Zoi geen. Adieu. Annyeonghi kyeseyo. Arrivederci. Auf Wiedersehen. Do svidan’ya.

I know your pain and at least you have the choice to dump Verizon and go somewhere else. I don't have that choice because of where I live Verizon are the only internet providers. I've been having line issues since they moved me over to their "enhanced" service last year. Two months after I was switched my speed began to get throttled down so I called regular support, no help there, then I came here and Executive Appeals took over my case. Man, was that the worst decision ever because they actually made my line worse; constant dropouts began a week after they began working on my line. The original issue was only the throttling, so it went from that to my line being barely usuable but E A refused to fix the problem they caused and stopped talking to me altogther, left me high and dry. Anyway, back I went to regular support and that has turned into a nightmare. No one listens, no cares and now they want to take away the 7.1M that I've had for several years because they think that is causing the dropouts even though I have repeatedly told them that the E A caused the dropout issue and that I never had any major problems with the 7 megs. Sigh, so now on top of still having the throttling issue and dropouts, they want to downgrade my speed. They have had me at 1mbps (as a test) and I still had the dropouts, so I don't understand why they're insisting on lowering my speed permanently when they themselves (MCO) know the lower speed did not stop/correct the dropouts. This has been going on for 10 very long months and I went from having a mostly issue free, good line to an issue filled, bad line...and it continues. This November will be exactly one year since this ordeal began.
Anyway, didn't mean to hijack your post! But I'm glad at least you could leave Verizon and go somewhere better.

  • Good bye Verizon.

Well Verizon, ever since you took over Altell you have been nickle and diming me to death, changing my plan without my consent, BSing me at your stores and now want to charge me $2.00 to pay my bill??? after 10 yrs with Altell with out a single problem and 2 yrs with you, I have 6 short months left on my contract. I'll be seeing  ya later.

Verizon doesn't give a chit about it's customers, just the all mighty dollar.  Yeah, the 2.00 is not going to break me, but it's the principal Verizon (I know as a business you are clueless to what principals are).  Speaking with a rep over the telephone last night was worthless and frustrating.
I asked a simple question is this fee set to take place yes or no, he stated it was complicated (LMAO) really, coming up with a convincing lie is complicated I guess.
Think about this Verizon, I have 4 telephones on my account, my bill runs 300.00 a month and for this bullchit charge, I will bail in a stone minute.  Since Verizon is changing the terms of the contract I wonder how they will hold me to a contract I never agreed to?  Class action lawsuit anyone?
Let's see 2.00 in their pocket, or 3600.00 in yearly charges what will they choose.
Believe me Verizon, I will not be taken advantage of, I'm angry and I'm not going to take it.
Contact Verizon and make your feeling known 800-837-4966

  • San Rafael, CA--large residential area with NO cell, and NO data service--area rated by Verizon tech as "ALL COVERAGE BAD", multiple complaints--but no response by Verizon

    Dear Verizon Wireless Executives,
I am writing to let you know that I (and many of my neighbors) are on the verge of switching to ATT, due to terrible reception in my home neighborhood.
I moved to Dominican neighborhood in San Rafael in March 2014, where I bought a house. I discovered that Verizon cell service varies from non-existent to terrible, both for data and cell service. At best I might get 1x data, and 0 or 1 bar for cell. All calls are dropped within 15 seconds. Data typically does not work.
My response was to first purchase and install a network extender. However, due to the size and configuration of my home,  I discovered that I needed a second extender to cover the whole house. This has led to new problems—the two extenders “compete” and if I start a call in one part of the house and move 1 or 2 feet too far in the other direction, I lose the call.
ATT has a powerful cell tower on the ridge above my neighborhood, which consistently produces 5 bars. It sits on a ridge in the Marin Open Space, likely on an old Nike base radio tower. (there are numerous towers on this ridge as a result of the abandoned Nike missle site).
I have begun to organize in my neighborhood—Dominican/Black Canyon Home Owners Asssociation, with about 1200 homes. When I posted a message asking about other people’s experience with Verizon Wireless, I was inundated with at least 30 or 40 angry and frustrated messages from Verizon customers, on NextDoor, a neighborhood listserve.
Today I completed a long Verizon Wireless “trouble ticket”, number NRB000007366782. I was told that there have been many, many complaints from this neighborhood for both data and cell coverage, or more to the point, lack of coverage. Your records indicate that this neighborhood is considered within Verizon as a “1X marginalization area”. And yet ,  currently there is no plan at Verizon to remedy this situation.
I strongly encourage you to begin an immediate search for access to one of the many existing towers on the ridge above my house to place a Verizon cell station.
In the event that you choose to continue to ignore this neighborhood and it’s abysmal coverage, I will organize a mass defection of Verizon Wireless residents to switch to ATT. I encourage you to begin this process now, let me and the neighborhood know of your plans, and have it completed in six months. If we have  not heard from you within 1 month (November 21, 2014), we will switch to ATT en masse beginning in December.

That is not going to happen due to a myriad of reasons.
1- Verizon listed the area correctly. So its not deceiving the customers. So based on that I would have left for a better provider.
2- Verizon cannot just pop out and place service on any tower or property. They must gain permission to place signal towers in locations. They must secure the approval of villages, towns, cities or counties to even think of putting service towers up. This can take years.
Then if the approval is opposed and no other sites can be obtained your service stays as it is. This is not a carrier fault. Go after the town boards and elected officials that will not allow their placement.
And blame the majority of people who also oppose these towers etc. Based on scares of cancer, birth defects, and even people having seizures. Yep read up on it.
Your speaking for your neighbors is admirable but futile. You cannot get what you want in 6x6 months.

    Good luck to you all

  • After iOS8.1.3 upgrade on 5c lost Verizon cell service (works sporadically,  "No Service" most of time).

    Carrier version Verizon 18.1
    iOS version 8.1.3 (12B466)
    iPhone 5C (ME553LL/A)
After iOS8.1.3 upgrade on 5c lost cell service (works sporadically). WiFi works fine, all other phone functions work fine.  Replaced SIM at Verizon store, updated carrier settings, did a factory reset, and nothing works.  About 20% of the day I will get service while sitting in a high-coverage area.  If
I restart the phone several times, sometimes it re-syncs to the network.
Prior to iOS 8.1.3 upgrade, phone was working fine, no signal/service issues.  I am not 100% sure what version of iOS and carrier I was running prior to the upgrade (Verizon 18.0? and iOS 8.0?).  I have found no way to roll-back to the prior (working) version of iOS that I was running.
This is an issue somewhere between Apple and Verizon, so I have found it frustrating to resolve.  I have spent ~2.5 hrs over 3 support sessions with Verizon.  Have no submitted ticket to Apple support.  Seems like others have had similar issues – but not a common issue.
Let me know if you have suggestions while waiting for Apple to help.
    Thanks,
    John

Couple things you can try, Reinsert the sim and power cycle the iPad. Also go to settings>general>reset then select reset subsciber services then attempt to log in to your verizon account, lastly reset network settings and see if that helps. If none of the above help, i would take to apple retail store to have serviced or replaced or contact verizon to make sure everything is good on there end as well.

  • Cell service working on open box Verizon iPad without setting it up

Bought an open box Verizon iPad 3.  Went through set up but not enter an Id or credit card for cell service.  But cell service is working, and I can't log into the account with any of my ids.  Any thoughts on what's going on?

    Hello,
I should be more specific.  The iPad does register Cellular Service with multiple dots on the upper left of my main screen.  However, there seems to be an internal "disconnect" because apps like Maps and Safari don't recognize or know there is an active cellular connection.
When I go to Settings > Cellular Data and slide the "switch" to "ON" the Enable LTE "switch" becomes available and it "switch" it to "ON" also the Data Roaming "switch" becomes available and I slide it to "ON".   Lower on the Cellular Data page are 6 apps in "Use Cellular Data For:"  All but FaceTime are "switched" "ON".
Under Safari in the "Use Cellular ...:" is "System Services.  Pressing System Services brings up 15 "Services" beginning with "iTunes Accounts" and ending with "Software Updates".  All 15 have some amount of usage shown.
Back on the Cellular Data page there is a listing for "SIM PIN".  When I touch the right pointing carat two lines appear.  The lower one labeled "Change PIN" is greyed out.  The upper one labeled SIM PIN has a slide "switch".  When I slide the SIM PIN "switch" to the right to turn it "on" a numeric keypad momentarily appears then, a moment later, the screen changes to the main page.  Double clicking the Home button reveals Settings remains open.
I have removed the SIM Card several times and cleaned the contacts with a "Q Tip" and Isopropyl alcohol, rubbed the contacts with a Pentel Hi-Polymer eraser and again with Q Tip and Isopropyl alcohol.  I have also inserted and ejected the SIM CARD drawer several times attempting to remove any corrosion from the internal contacts.  Again, some portion of the iPad knows there is an active Cellular signal but apps fail to register the connection.
    Any further thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Good cell service, horrible data service - Orlando, FL

I live in southwest Orlando and have become very frustrated at the lack of data availability in the area.  I almost always have good cell service.  Never a dropped call and usually plenty of bars on my iPhone 5.  However, there are several areas where I may have five bars - but no data service at all!
Please advise if this is being addressed as my wife and I NEED reliable data service for our jobs.
    Thanks,

When you complete your current contract, Verizon has options on which incentives you would like to take.
You can sign a new 2 yr service contract by purchasing a new phone at a considerable discount(~$400+).
You can also choose to purchase a new smartphone on Edge at full retail cost for which Verizon will give you either a 37.5% or a 62.5% discount(depending on your data allowance) on your monthly line access fee when on the More Everything plan.
If you choose to simply continue using your current phone on the More Everything plan, Verizon ALSO offers the same 37.5%/62.5% discount(depending on your data allowance) on your monthly line access fee.
Of course, as with anything else, there are some which always want more of a discount than what is offered.
Hopefully, after you get used to the rates with your new provider, you won't then want MORE which they likely won't be willing to give you.
Good luck with the new provider.

  • How is customer service so horrible at Verizon???

I have never been more upset or aggrrevated with a company after dealing with both a local Verizon store and 2 CSR. I had 4 different people employed by Verizon lie to me in the past 5 days!  I am headed tomorrow to check out other phone carriers even though I have been with Verizon for 8 years!!
Short version of my ordeal..... My daughters Iphone just died on Friday and we couldn't get it to reboot or come back on. So Saturday morning we head to the local Verizon Store to see if they can fix the problem. They decide that it cant be fixed and because I have insurance on the phone they are going to order me one and send it to my house. The guy at the store said that because I had insurance that there was free overnight shipping, but with the holidays that my phone should be here no later than Tuesday.... Easy enough I thought the problems was solved..... Well after no phone showed up on Monday or Tuesday I call CSR. I am told by them that they cant see the order if it was placed by a store and that I will have to call the store where the phone was ordered. So I call the store, I am told by an assistant manager that they have no way of finding the order or to see when it will be delivered we sit at home on Christmas Eve waiting on a phone that never arrives. So today I call the local store again because we still have no phone. I get the same assistant manager who I spoke with previously. I explain the situation to her again and she tells me that she has looked at my account and can see that there is a letter in My Verizon that is a confirmation letter, but that she cant see what it says. She tells me that she will order a new phone and worse case scenario is that I end up with 2 phones, but that she cant tell me when either phone will be here. So I ask her why 2 different people told me on Tuesday that there was no way to see if anything had been ordered, but that she stated that she thinks there was a error and that a phone was not ordered on Saturday. She tells me that someone should have been able to see if an order had been placed and she is not sure why someone would tell me different. She must have forgotten that she was the one that I spoke with. So I go into My Verizon and attempt to look at this confirmation letter. Its not there at all. I can see the order that she had placed but nothing about a confirmation letter. So I all CSR again and a nice man tells me he will credit my account 13 dollars. I simply wanted answers at to why the 3 previous people had seemed so incompetent or if they had all just simply lied to me. He stated that he did not know why they had made such an easy process so difficult and advised me to call the local store and see what they say. I call the local store and ask to speak to a manager. I get put on hold for about 15 min when finally I get the same girl I had spoken to the previous 2 times when I called the store. She then inmorms me that she is an assistant manager. I explain my frustration with the whole situation and how I feel that I was lied to / or misinformed by 3 differet people including her. I explain to her that I really just need a phone to replace my daughters phone as she has been without a phone since Friday and Im not sure the purpose of insurance if it is this difficult to get a replacement. She doesn't really have an answer for me. I ask her if there is anyway she can insure the phone will be here tomorrow since it is supposed to be overnight shipping because of the insurance. She tells me that no she isn't sure my phone will arrive tomorrow and that it may be Monday before I get the phone... I explain to her that my daughter has to stay home and watch my youngest son while I work and that she really needs a phone incase something happens. She tells me that my phone should arrive at my house by atleast Monday.... at this point I so frustrated that I thank her for nothing and hang up the phone.
It floors me that I got the run around and had someone checked on Tuesday that they would have realized that maybe a phone had not been ordered and I would have a phone....... Or that they do not have a phone in the store that they could provide to me...... Im sure If I was going to upgrade or spend some money in the store that they would have a phone to provide to me.......In fact when I was in there on Saturday the guy I spoke with told me that I could upgrade on of my lines and walk out of the store with a Iphone 4s, which my daughters phone is a Iphone4r that I could pay 199.00 and get her the new iphone5.... Im sure had I paid something then my daughter would already have a new phone. But since her phone was just a year old and had no problems until it died I saw point in wasting money to pay for the upgrade when I have been paying for insurance on the phone since she got it. .... Hoping to have a phone tomorrow or either a new cell phone carrier!!

You keep using the word insurance. Do you pay extra for insurance from Asurian or is your iPhone being replaced under the manufacturer warranty ? This second option is not insurance so you would have to contact Asurian directly. With this insurance there is a paid premium each month on your cell invoice, you have to pay a deductible to get your replacement device which can run up to $200
Verizon cannot assist you at the store under insurance, only manufacturers warranty and they can give you the phone number and web site address to start your claim process.
In the future get your iPhone insurance through Apple Care, its only $99 for the two years and you just walk into the Apple Store near you and get service.
    Good Luck

  • Don't update to 8.0.1 issue losing cell service and Touch ID

Everyone updating to the new iOS 8.0.1 update are having issues with losing cell service and Touch ID. Seems to be happening if you update over the air and not through computer and iTunes but I'll wait anyway.

I updated over the air. However no real issues other than former settings changed to default settings. Bluetooth has to be reset up even if still in your device list. WiFi same issue. If you head over to
http://www.apple.com/support and go to the iOS forum you will see many more issues but as you know Verizon did not do the update.
So Apple is the place to complain or get a fix.
Device works pretty good after you fix the quirks.
    Good Luck

  • HT4515 I want to buy an unlocked 4s from apple and use it permanently on a foreign CDMA cell service (IUSA Cell in Mexico).  I am getting conflicting information.  Thoughts?

I want to buy an unlocked 4s from apple and use it permanently on a foreign CDMA cell service (IUSA Cell in Mexico).  I am getting conflicting information on whether this is possible.  Apple website says the phones are unlocked for GSM use only.
I called apple when i bought an Ipad to help decide on a GSM vs CDMA version and was told that if I went to Mexico with a CDMA version of the Ipad (2) that i would call the carrier give them some numbers and they would activate it.  When i returned I was to call Verizon and reactivate it in the US.  I ultimately got the GSM version so i never tested the theory.
I am now thinking of getting the 4S to use in Mexico permanently but want to use it on a CDMA carrier because it is half the cost per month.  But will this work?  Thoughts?

There is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA iPhone. All CDMA iPhones are carrier locked and the carriers do not allow unlocking. All legitimatly unlocked iPhones are GSM only The CDMA side is completely disabled in them.
You can only use a CDMA iPhone if the carrier you want to use offers one.

  • Good Bye to my Bionic!!!!

I was an owner of a Droid Bionic for 5 months.  The Bionic was great for 1 month.  Then I had 4G connection errors, battery charging issues, and phone quality issues.  Many of my co-workers have verizon phones....and their phones (Droid, Droid X and a Bionic) were significantly faster connecting to the net, would get emails faster, etc.... My camera was terrible.  I had enough and went to my verizon store.  I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3.  Holy Crap.....my new phone is unbelievable.  Super fast, I can get 4G everywhere now, phone quality is great, the camera is about 100X better than my bionic.  The Galaxy S3 was $199.99.  I got a upgrade discount of $50 and they gave me $52 for my *** Bionic.  The only negative....I had to give up my $30 unlimited data package.  I am not happy about that....oh, and I had to pay a $30 phone fee.   But......I love my new phone.....a highly recommend the Galaxy S3.  Good bye Bionic.....you were the worst phone I ever had. You will not be missed.

thats the right way : ) good job

  • No Cell Service

Is anybody else experiencing difficulty connecting to cell service in the Central PA area? Located in Elizabethtown and there is no way to connect to a call! Sister-in-law lives in Mt Joy and is having the same difficulty. Very frustrating! Is there a tower down or something. Why wouldn't Verizon send out an email/text/anything to there customers explaining the difficulty. I wouldn't be so upset if they would just own up to it.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
