Centering a Picture

Post Author: kclim

Hi,
Using Crystal 11, I have inserted a picture into my report that displays a default company logo.  I have the "graphic location" set to grab a different logo everytime our user picks a different company, but some company's logos are smaller than the default picture logo on my report and will display at the top-left part of the picture border.
Is there a way to dynamically center the new picture in the middle?   It doesn't even have to be centered as long as it's just not too far to the left.
Thanks.

If you could find the largest logo, determine its size,
could you then copy, paste, the other logos into a bmp,jpg... that
is the same size .  Other than that, you do have the option of placing
the x of the blog by using a formula, you could compare company name, id, or whatever and either use case, or if thens to change x.
if company = "y" then 2.2 else if company = "x" then 1.3
of course if you have a bunch of comanys, that would be a pain, especially when they
get around to updating the logos.

    Hi susscrofa,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are getting a border when printing photos.
I will be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for printing photos.
Print Photos Saved on Your Computer (Windows). Select the proper paper size.
This printer doesn't specify it is borderless. To achieve the Minimal Margins click the Advanced tab in the print driver. HP Deskjet 1510 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 1510 All-in-One Printer Series Product Specifications.

  • Camera pictures not centered

tried taking pictures with new iphone 5.  I centered my picture in the frame and took picture.the result was not centered at all.  it had a lot more picture at the bottom of the picture.  i took several more pictures, but same results.  I tied  friends iphone4, it took picture correctly.  anyone else seeing this problem?

Did you find a permanent resolution to this? I've tried restarting phone and resetting the apps at the bottom. But I tested it and after I've taken if say 10 photos it goes back to doing this. My phone is used for business so I don't want to restore in iTunes or I will lose everything

  • Centering images in ePubs

I have been doing a lot of work in Pages and then exporting them as ePubs for the iPad.  One issue I cannot overcome - is it possible to center the image in the Pages document so that it is centered in the ePub.  Otherwise, the caption is oddly oriented in relationship to the image.
    Thanks

I've discovered how to center images accidentally.
First, make sure your image is inline. I'm quite sure you know that but some have been struggling to understand why their floating images don't export in ePub so I think it's worth saying.
Then, instead of centering the picture itself, center the line on which your picture is, as if it were plain text. It should work. I've been fighting for a magazine tutorial all day long and I can't explain how relieving this discovery was. I checked on iPad and iPhone and pictures were indeed centered.
This may not translate into top-notch ePub/HTML coding, but since Pages exports ePub its special way… I think it's just a tiny little detail.

  • Printing photos with PSE9?

When I try to print a 4x6 directly from the editor in PSE9, I only get a little bit of the picture on one edge.  It appears to be centering the picture on 8 1/2 by 11 paper, no matter what I set in preferences. Please help, can't afford to waste paper and ink!

I don't want to beat this into the ground, but the drivers on a disk that came with your printer, be it an old one or a new one, may not be the most recent ones.
Suggest that you check the web site of the printer manufacturer to see if there are updated drivers.

  • Thumbnail Image Ratio in Shelves theme

Hopefully this isn't too theme specific, but I am using the Shelves theme in iDVD 08. I have imported a movie file with 4 chapters, so the submenu has 2 shelves with 2 thumbnails each. Everything from the movie standpoint is perfect.
I am having a **** of a time getting the size of my photo so that the photo centers in the thumbnail. I'll make my canvas bigger in Photoshop, I move the image to the top right and bottom left. I center it at the top and at the bottom. Does anyone have a ratio of what size fits in the thumbnails. I am doing it by trial and error and getting frustrated.
    Thanks for any input.
    Rick

Well through trial and error I kinda have a working template.
In Photoshop, I set my image size to 12.5"x7". Then I bring my image in 2" from the left and .75" from the bottom. This pushes the photo into the center of the thumbnail. If I do not have that white space along the left and bottom, iDVD centers the picture and I lose my point of focus for the thumbnail.
This is all probably irrelevant to anyone else, but I feel better now.
    Thanks, Rick!
    Rick

  • Can I "break" or customize the theme templates?

When inserting jpegs on to pages, am I constrained to preset dimensions?
Or is there a way to make a jpeg a little bigger or a little smaller?
When I insert a vertically oriented jpeg in to a horizontally oriented "One page type", iPhoto automatically centers the picture on the page- is there a way to move it to the left or to the right?
I've got the same questions for text blocks as well...

    Thinkingman:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You cannot change the size of the frame but can change the size of the photo inside it. Double click on the photo and a slider bar will appear. You can increase the size and then move the photo around a little bit as necessary. You won't be able to make the photo smaller than the size of the frame.
As far as the vertical, we're stuck with iPhoto's placement of it. Same with the text boxes.
    Do you Twango?

  • How do I move or scale my wallpaper?

Ever since the iOS7 update I have been unable to move and scale pictures when setting my wallpapers. The screen always centers the picture and scales it automatically to fill the entire screen. As you can imagine, this isn't always how I would like my wallpaper to look. I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you!

It appears no longer to be possible in IOS 7. See the many unanswered questions in the "More Like This".
    I use a work-around:
Scale and crop the photo in the photos app to the section you want to use.
Take a screen shot by holding down the power button and home button at the same time, The screenshot will appear in your camera roll.
Use the Photos.app to set this screnshot up as your wallpaper.

  • Request for Consequent Visualization

    Hello,
first I want to say, I very much anticipate the release. I appreciate the redesign of the user interface.
After using CS6 a little while I encountered some points which to me are not bugs but improvable issues.
Detailed information about my system at the end of this post.
    1. Having a picture opened and zoomed in:
Using spacebar or the hand-tool dragging around the picture it is juddering. Letting it go (releasing the mouse button) it flicks away smoothly without stuttering.
Here I would like to see a smooth dragging, too, not only smooth flicking after releasing the mouse button.
    2. The "scrubby zoom" performance increase is incredible, I like that a lot. But, having zoomed in to a point in the picture off center and "scrubby-zooming" out again the picture is off center as long as the mouse button is still pressed.
After releasing the button, the picture jumps to the center of the screen.
I would like that to be one of the following: Either the picture stays off center when I zoom out. Or the scrubby zoom-out automatically centers the picture. An option in the preferences area to change that behavior would be nice to have.
    3. Thus I use a Wacom Intuos 4 and sometimes make use of the bristle brushes I encountered a visualization flaw. If I hover with my pen over the tablet without clicking (drawing) the displayed brush shape changes according to the tilting and rotation of my pen. This is great. But when drag-clicking (painting) the last displayed brush shape stays until I raise the pen (end drawing). I would very much prefer the brush cursor to be chaning while painting, because the stroke itself changes with direction and rotation, too.
    4. I would like to see gpu supported cursors. Let me explain. The pen position of my wacom, that is transferred to photoshop, is much more precise than the resolution of my screen. That is the case with most of the graphic pen tablets and screen combinations.
So it would be great to see cursors not only "snapping" from pixel to pixel but with sub pixel rendering. This would make working with the path tool much more precise.
    5 and last:
This behavior was there in CS5, too: When I use the pen (vector) tool and click-drag a new point, the handles appear first when I drag my cursor more than about two pixels away. Why is that? Same with moving existing path points. It moves first when dragged more than about two or three pixels to the side. I would love to have a preference to change that radius to zero. If I click-drag a point I want to be able to move it one pixel only without having to drag it away first and than back to where it was plus one pixel distance in one direction.
Thank you for constantly improving this software
    Best regards

Thanks for the quick reply. Okay, I will be creating seperate posts in the future.
    1. Yes this is the case no matter whether the panel is hidden or visible. It is also the case when all palettes are hidden. Having tried this another time I assume it may have something to do with the display of the rulers. The flicking produces a lot more frames per second than dragging the picture around. While it flies around, the rulers are not refreshed. They are displayed first when the movement has stopped.
When I disable the ruler display, the framerate when dragging the picture increases and thus appears much more fluid. It still feels as if there is still a little headroom for a smoother display of the picture moving compared to the flick-animation. But the rulers take away a lot of the display performance as it seems.
    2. I found that option, it enables exactly the behavior I was looking for! I did not reason that, because I did not expect that it would zoom-out to center as well and thus enabling to zoom the picture away from the center. Kind of a misunderstandable thing. Okay so this point can be marked as solved I guess.
    3. I'm looking forward to future development.
Thanks so far! What about No. 4 and 5?
More precise cursors that allow modification "between single pixels" would be a very nice to have visual feature, but I assume a lot of programming work.
I would really like to know whether 5 is a wanted behavior or not. Should I try to explain what I mean another way?
I really get the feeling, that you are really caring about what people say here. Thanks for that open-mindedness :-)

  • My blog page alignment on Safari is wrong although it's fine in iWeb.

Varkgirl and James — I have emailed you both a screenshot of my iWeb blog page and my Safari blog page.
The iWeb blog page is on top of the Safari blog page (the same blog page).
You will observe that whereas all of the text and pictures are centered on my iWeb page, the Safari page has the picture and the text way farther to the left, right against the left margin.
    THE SUSPICIOUS THING:
On my iWeb blog page, the horizontal spread of the margins combined with the text space is very very wide. Wider, it seems, than other pages.
About a month ago I noticed that the text and picture were far far to the left but the reason for it remained a mystery to everyone. Today I figured I would go back, turn the page white so I could check for margins, and reposition the picture and text. I did that.
In spite of clearing the cache and the history and going to an outside, the page as you see it on the screenshot remains with the text and picture jammed way to the left.
    HERE IS MY CONCERN:
I could live with this; it's not that bad looking. But I always suspect that little things such as this could be little signals of impending doom. Like when your brake pedal starts getting soft... you know that if this keeps up, you're going to go flying off the cliff while careening down the 405 Freeway.
This makes me anxious because there is no explanation and thus no fix, and only the suspicion of future catastrophe, about which I can do nothing. 8-(

    Lorna,
I checked your blog page. Here is the URL...
    http://web.mac.com/lorna6/iWeb/Website%20of%20Lorna%20
    Alexander/Stories,%20Fantasies%20Blog/Stories,%20Fanta
    sies%20Blog.html
    Everything looks centered to me.
OK, good. That means that the end product is OK........ and the only irregularity is that wide blog page.......... wider than my other pages. I will do what you said. And the page looks oK now because I went to iWeb, changed the page to white so I could SEE, expanded the width of the work space including margins, and re-centered the picture and text. the margins are much wider apart on this page than on the other pages.
I hope this is not the equivalent of the brakes going soft............

  • Centering Pictures in Ken Burns Effect.

I've been putting together a slide show of various pictures using the Ken Burns effect. I've moved some of the pictures off-center for the pan and zoom effects and now all of my other pictures begin off-center. Is there an easy way to center the pics that I'd like to begin the effect centered?

Is there an easy way to center the pics...
Yup. Here's how to re-center the Ken Burns cropping of images:
    1. Click in the Start end of the Start/End thingy. Pause.
    2. Drag the zoom slider a bit to the RIGHT, then all the way to the LEFT.
    3. Click in the End end of the thingy, and repeat.
Or you can trash the iMovie preference file, but that's harder.

  • Printed pictures not centered

HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One, Windows 7 64-bit, no changes to OS.  Using an SD camera card, pictures is centered and complete when viewed in camera.  However, when printed out, top of picture is cropped by at least 1/2 inch. Photo paper is tight in tray. What is causing this or/and how do I adjust printer?  Many thanks.

    Hi Ginal.
Which program are you using to print your photos? With HP Photo Creations, selecting "Best fit full page" on the print screen should fill the page correctly. HP Photo Creations is a free download at www.hp.com/go/hppc.
On the image below, we set a custom paper size.

  • HT3805 In my split view, the viewed picture is all the way to the right- only a sliver is visible. How do I get it to be centered and viewed in total?

How can I get the picture in my split view to move back to the center where I can see it all?

    Lynn,
there should be. Are you perhaps looking in the system library?
The User Library should appear in the Finder's "Go" drop down menu, like this:
If your system is Lion or Mt. Lion, you will have to hold down the option-key ⌥ to make it appear in the menu.
Then look in the folder Preferences for "com.aperture.plist" and remove it.
Don't forget to quit Aperture before you do this.
    Regards
    Léonie

their display example, if user change from their display from 1024
x 768 to some wide screen display it is still center of the page

Use CSS to center it, e.g., background-position:center.
Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the use of CSS
    before trying
    this.
