Central Services instance Missing

Hi,
We are installing XI 3.0
We have applied till the Kernel Patch successfully. After that...
The SAP_<SID>_01 service is not starting. As a result of which we could not find the Central services instance in the MMC.
What could be the reason for it?
Ayone who has faced the same do let me know as to how to solve it.

Hi Siva,
First of all this situation is not only because of kernel upgrade.
I have not even applied kerenel patches. I have resterted the server machine, when my VA and IR and RWB got hang. After logging into SAPMMC i see only SAP<sid>_00 service is running . After that when i restarted my machine again and installed my sap frontend freshly, then the same service is running perfectly.
I can understand you must be going through different scanerio, but i just thought of sharing my exp. to you.
May be of some help.

Central Service Instance missing after Additional App server was installed

Hi Experts
I had installed SAP Netweaver CE7.1 system in 2 machines as distributed system.
I did installation as follow:
1. Install MSSQL server native access client in machine 1
2. Install DB server in machine 2
3. Install SCS in machine 1
4. Install DB instance in machine 2
5. Install PAS in machine 1
The installation had been fine. I had checked by confirming at the MMC. In machine 1, I could see SCS, PAS and DB running. I had also logged on into portal and NWA.
Then I installed Additional App server in machine 2.
Howerver, in the end of the installation it said that the installation has been stopped.
Later when I see the MMC, I found that I could see DB, PAS and AAS only. SCS was missing and
the system could not start.
I am very much looking forward to hearing from you what went wrong during the installation of AAS.
The log generated in the sapinst.log is really long. I got server error when I put the log data in this message. I can send it through mail if need be.

SCCM Report Services Instance missing

Hi,
Been trying to troubleshoot this for a day and had already done the following:
1.

I'm not sure what I am missing but regardless after restarting countless times and troubleshooting, I still can't get the reporting services setup on our SCCM 2012 server. The database is SQL 2012 SP1. Both are on a different VM instance. I'm getting a blank
value on the Reporting point server instance.
The good part is I can get the website working but getting the reports via web by opening it on the reports services manager on the SQL server. Other than that, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Any suggestion?

MMC on Windows looking at Central Services on USS

Greetings,
We've installed an ECC development system on 390/DB2 v8 with the Central Services instance in USS also on that 390 box. The CI is installed on Win2k3. We tried adding the entry to the MMC on our Windows basis admin workstations and get nothing but red circle with slash. Typically this has meant a DCOM or security issue is happening on the Windows side but in this case, we're in uncharted territory connecting to an IX instance. Life without the MMC is not fun. Any ideas would be apprciated.

SeparatingApplication Server from Central Services

Hi gurus, we need to move our application servers from AIX to Linux and we have NW 7.11, right now our Central Services are in the same instance and server than the first application server, and we need to separate them.
I think we can install another application server point it to existing central servicies and everything will work ok, but I can not figure it out how I can switch off the original application server that is with central services.
I don't know if I can comment start profile line related to dw process and that's all or there is something I'm missing.
Does anybody face this situation before, what do you think?

Dear Effan, we agreed that for PRD where we have a distributed installation and we won't have any problem.
For QAS ad DEV where we have CI (ASCS+DI); we can install additional application servers on Linux.
After we install those application servers, we need to deinstall our original application server on AIX. This appl srv is part of the CI (same system number for ASCS and DI). So we can not deinstall ir, ok?
So, if we can not deinstall appl server, maybe we can avoid to start it up just commenting this section in startup profile
Start application server
DW = dw.sap$(SAPSYSTEMNAME)$(INSTANCE_NAME)
Execute_09 = local rm -f $(_DW)
Execute_10 = local ln -s -f $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/disp+work$(FT_EXE) $(_DW)

TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found

I'm trying to install TFS 2013 on a remote SQL RS instance.
Using the TFS 2103 U4 installation
SQL 2012 RS, name instance, Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
When I enabled tracing using debugView I see the following output:
[4160] [Error @11:07:10.978] Exception Message: TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found: COMRS. The server name is: SQLProdA. (type TfsAdminException)
Any ideas what the issue is?

Thanks for the help. I already saw those links, and am already trying with the format. As I wrote above:
Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
So I wrote in the box "SQLProdA\COMRS" (without quotes of course) and I still keep getting that error.
I don't know if it matters, but although this is indeed a named instance, nonetheless, the path to the report server uses the default url (ie.
http://servername/reports) as opposed to the name instance version (ie.
http://servername_instance/reports) as mentioned by your link and this post:

But, I checked with Fiddler on the server and didn't see it trying to even access the link so I don't think it is related. I saw with Process Monitor that it is indeed trying to access via the network resources on SQLProdA, so I know it's trying.
I have noticed something in the past, and wondered if this could be the issue, that for example if I have Management Studio 2014 installed, I cannot connect to a Reporting Services instance which is 2012. Only when Management Studio 2012 is installed
and being used can I connect. I wondered if this possibly could be related, that maybe the API or something else which the installer is using is missing some component to connect to the RS instance.
Just in case, I already installed both the SQL 2012 and 2014 Client Tools Connectivity (although I first installed 2014, and then 2012).
Do you think this could be the issue? If not, do you possibly have any other leads?

PowerPivot - SP2013 - Cannot create the service instance because the parent Service does not exist

Unable to setup PowerPivot using PowerPivot configuration tool.
I have One server which has SQL 2012 SP1 and SP2013.
The farm is configured with all service applications.
SQL has default instance with DB Engine and SSAS Tabular. Reporting Services has been configured using SharePoint mode and has a service application.
The Power Pivot instance is set up with DB Engine and the SSAS.
I keep getting this error. Ive tried so many times uninstalling, making sure features removed, rebuilding the farm (thank god for autospinstaller..)

Did you install the PowerPivot add-in for SharePoint? There are 2 parts to this - the SQL Server Power Pivot for SharePoint which is the Analysis Services instance running in Tabular Mode and the PowerPivot Add-in. The last line in your error message seems
to tell you that you have a missing component in the farm, possibly the PowerPivot Add-in

Biztalk Service instance termination programatically

Hi all,
I am trying to terminate the service instances of a particular Application. I am using WMI for it.
I am using Select * from MSBTS_ServiceInstance where AssemblyName Like 'ApplicationName%' to get the complete list of the serviceinstances for that application. Then I use the Terminate() function to terminate the instances.
Unfortunately this query does miss out some of the serviceinstances(in case if the instances are of the called orchestrations and messaging) so the termination of the serviceinstance does not get completed. I tried using Microsoft.Biztalk.Operations
name space to achieve this task but I was unsuccessful.
In a nutshell I want to achieve is that by providing the application name I can get a complete list of the service instances.
Is there a way to do it?
Am i missing something in the WMI query?

You can use this script as a reference for your requirement and may be if you need, you can update to your need.
Also have a look into terminator tool. The above code works but officially it has been replace by
BizTalk Terminator tool. As per official statement:
“A tool which allows for common BizTalk problems to be addressed by scripts provided by the BizTalk team. Replaces terminate.vbs
with more functionality including the ability to suspend, resume and terminate by date range. Powershell script functionality provided for performance tuning. Integration with mbvcleanupscripts.xml from the messagebox viewer utility”

I just installed OIAM and I am facing this error when I try to start AdminServer:

A: JPS-03026: PDPService and PolicyStore Service instance not found in default

I just did this into my server:
1)These steps are to prepared Identity and Policy Stores according to EDG 12035-07. So, webLogic Administration Server will not start after configuring OAM/OIM cluster.
And then you will reach: error message SEVERE: Ldap bootstrap credential retrieval failed. Reason:java.security.AccessControlException: access denied
2)yes, you must modify the security policy for WebLogic using the modifygrants.py script supplied in IAM Suite installation. I did it once and just after running the script my AdminServer process started correctly.
Please check and see if you are not missing something:
18.3.2.2 Editing the weblogic.policy file
To edit the weblogic.policy file, run the following command:
IDM_HOME/common/bin/wlst.sh IDM_HOME/oes/modifygrants.py
Important is:
The above command will only work if use the default policy name, weblogic.policy file. <===check this.
Only if you change the default name for the policy file, then you must open the file in a text editor and add the following lines:
grant codeBase "file:${idm.opss.oracle.home}/modules/oracle.jps_${jrf.version}/*" {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
grant codeBase "file:${idm.opss.oracle.home}/oes/*" {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
grant codeBase "file:${oes.client.home}/-" {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
So, just check if there is no misunderstanding. I just did into my server it's working fine now.

ME 3800 X - QinQ across service instance

I realize a test rig of ME-3800-X.
I use the MPLS and QinQ.
EoMPLS for pseudowire is Ok in test rig.
QinQ also.
In fact, everything is ok.
But, in documentation, it is not said that we can forward the frame QinQ across a Service Instance.

It has QinQ frames within the bridge domaine not frame Vlan.

but what is the question? Is it something like "how come that even if my configuration does not match the guide my setup is working?"
Is that one?
Also, does it work when your config is matching the EVC guide instead (the one in green on your pdf)?
Quick notation is that even if the configuration is not matching the guide the final result is the same as you moved the pop operation of the outmost dot1q tag from the ingress PE (the one on top) to egress one by configuring 'platform rewrite imposition tag push 1 symmetric' on the SVIs.
So you either strip the qinq tag on ingress or on egress the frame looks like the same way when the last mpls label is popped.
Does this answer to your question or am I still missing the point?

Biztalk Tracked service instances not showing

HI experts,
I have enabled tracking on the BTS host and then set the tracking properties of pipelines,
Even though i couldn't see the tracked service instances in the BTS 2010 admin console.
my tracking data is not being moved to trackingDB, i found this using below query.
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM [BizTalkMsgBoxDb].[dbo].[TrackingData]
which yields more than 3000 rows, which should not be.
How can i solve this error?
I am sure TrackedMessages_Copy_BizTalkMsgBoxDb job has no errors?

Help stop: "Service instances do not support events yet"

on 5 november i upgraded to OSX 10.10. within a day or so i noticed i started getting a lot of spinning beach balls intermittently. it appeared to happen when using firefox. i upgraded to the latest version and kept noticing the beach ball. i happened to check my log files and found the system.log being filled with this:

I thought maybe there was a conflict between firefox and yosemite so downgraded firefox but the messages keep flowing.
anyone have an idea of what this means and how to stop it?
my guess was that the spinning beach ball is likely related to whatever application is trying to use some event not supported by Service instances.
this is on a 2013 27" imac, 3.2GHz, 16GB RAM, macOSX 10.10

Well I found a way to stop this error. I stopped the ftp service/server (whatever) and unloaded it
using a couple of commands i found from someone else who had an issue with starting and stopping their ftp service.
>> launchctl stop com.apple.ftpd
>> launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
ran as root. this completely changed the behavior of my computer response. spinning beach balls seemed to have stopped (substantial reduction at this point)
i guess if something comes along and says it won't work due to missing ftp service, i'll deal with it at that time.
problem is solved for now.
