Centro MMS, Roaming and phone-on issue

VZW Centro symptoms:
-Won’t fetch pic msg& "communication error" if send pic msg. MMS services enabled on my account &it has worked smoothly til now.
- MMS activity indicator swirls and shows 0% til it times out.
-Phone service won’t turn on unless remove battery each time; then it roams everywhere til I call carrier to update roam capabilities.
I've tried soft, hard &factory resets- issue remains.
Any suggestions?
This began after I created a new network connection in preferences &then deleted it.

Hi Simon,
no, we did not solve this problem. At the time we are focussing on Windows 8.1 app development. But still wondering why there is no statement on this issue from the ui5 development team ... let me here from you, when you get more Information.

  • IOS5 and Phone Signal Issues

A problem... is there a reason why, since upgrading my iPhone 3GS to IOS5, that my 3G and WIFI signal seems to cut out constantly. When ever I try to use the internet (WIFI or 3G) the phone seems to go into a cycle of 'no signal' 'searching' 'full signal'.
Anyone else had this issue? Any ideas what might be the problem / solution?

I aqm having the same problem.  I have a 3GS phone, but my signal was fine when I was using 4.3.3.....
I have now been without a cell signal now for almost 24 hours.  My phone is also used for Business, and this is killing me.   My Wifi has no issues, just the cell signal.  It toggles between searching, and no service.  How can apple get away with this.  I am paying for a service, that I am not getting.  Hopefully Apple will at least acknowledge this problem, and let us know what are they going to do about this.  Apple should pay my cell phone bill, while my Iphone is unable to not get a signal !!!!

  • Centro locks up and also shuts phone off.---Sprint

I've had my Centro for almost a year.  I don't hook it up to my PC. Never seen the need for it.  I don't use email much. The issue I have is with the Centro going into "auto Tilt" mode.  Sometimes when I push a button to make a call, the handsent restarts.  Sometimes, when I pick it up and pusk the center button, it tells me the phone is off and it restarts the Centro.  What the heck is that about?  And the discussions regarding 3rd party software I can understand. However, I do not have any thing loaded on it.  Its is bare bones.
Thanks for any responses....the Centrol Hang Up Guy...

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Try a soft reset first to see if that resolves it. To do a soft reset, simply remove the battery then reinsert it.
If the issue still remains, I would then perform a hard reset. A hard reset will erase all data on the device but put all settings back to default. This could resolve your issue. If you have data on there that you do not want to lose, I recommend sync'ing it to a PC. For further instructions on how to do a hard reset, go to kb.palm.com and look up article number 42094 in the Solution ID search field.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

  • IPhone 6 and Bluetooth phone connectivity issues with my vehicle: this is how I fixed it.

With so many threads on this topic, I wanted to detail the steps I took to fix my iPhone 6 Bluetooth issues regarding connectivity to my vehicle and handsfree calling.  My phone was pairing with my vehicle without a problem and syncing my contacts and call history but when I attempted to make a call (from either the phone or the vehicle screen) the audio went out and I could not hear the call either through the vehicle speakers or on the phone. The call was going through but I was unable to see it on my vehicle screen and/or hear it either the phone or the vehicle screen.
Based on my research and what I have learned so far, the people having problems are those who restored their new iPhone 6 from an iCloud backup from a previous phone, rather than setting up their iPhone 6 as a new phone.  I did an iCloud restore from my previous 5s running iOS 8.
First, I am a Verizon customer and I enabled Advanced Calling on my line.  After I requested that this feature be added to my line, under “Cellular” settings on my iPhone, I enabled LTE voice & data.
    Next steps:
    1) Unpair/remove iPhone from the vehicle;
    2) Forget/remove the vehicle from the phone Bluetooth settings;
    3) Soft reset the iPhone;
    4) Reset network settings on the iPhone; and
    5) Pair the phone to the vehicle again and attempt to make a call.
    If that does not work…
    6) Perform a factory reset, erasing EVERYTHING from your phone and set it up as a new iPhone rather than restoring from a backup.
Resetting the network settings seems to be working for some people.  It did not work for me.  I tried it a few times with no result.  I did the dreaded factory reset, paired the phone with my vehicle and had all of my Bluetooth functionality back and was able to use the handsfree phone with zero issues.
I was on the phone yesterday multiple times with Apple, Toyota Entune, Verizon and my Toyota dealer. Verizon blamed Toyota Entune, Toyota Entune blamed Verizon and my Toyota dealer blamed Apple.  Nobody had a clue how to fix this issue or what was causing it. I don’t know the exact reason why the previous iCloud backups are killing the Bluetooth connections, I just know what worked for me and I thought it was worth sharing.
    Good luck.

The new 8.0.2 update DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AT ALL. After you power off and on with the phone, same issue as the 8.0, all 3 of my cars lost Bluetooth connection and shows no signal at all.  Good job Apple, what a lousy update you guys did.

  • "phone offline" and other syncing issues

There's been several threads on the "phone offline" issue across many of the big Pre forums, but we're really not heard anything constructive from Palm on the matter...  It's basically leaving me unable to do email and a number of other features that are pretty much the main reason for me buying the phone.  I'm really feeling screwed by this considering I pretty much left Verizon for Sprint to get this since VZW wouldn't provision the pre on their service.
Whenever I enable Pop email to get my account with several thousand emails, my phone becomes instantly unstable, generating the "phone offline issues" every couple of minutes.  I also have my google calendar not syncing as this too seems to provoke these errors, even though I have NO scheduled items in there.  I also cannot get my exchange 2007 email like everyone else having issues, but mine hasn't even worked on 1.1 or 1.2 versions of webos.
Seriously, how long are we going to wait for a fix to these major issues?  This is exactly why I gave up on WinMo phones.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I'll bet it is the size/volume of email in your inbox its trying to sync - not sure if this got fixed/better with 1.3.1.  One of the threads about google calendar causing this radio reboot issue indicated there was a memory leak in their java stack that was causing the radio to go offline, which got me thinking about my email.  As it turns out I had 20k emails or so in my inbox (I leave everything on the server and keep local filters to sort it out post pop), so the pre seemed to have issues dealing with this large of volume when pop'ing.  Now logic (to me at least) would dictate that if you tell it to only keep a week of email, it wouldn't matter as it would the email count, date, and index, and only grab the last weeks worth, meaning it shouldn't poop itself when trying, but it still does. Yours doing the same would indicate probably the same - excessive email count in inbox, at least beyond what the stupid pre seems capable of dealing with.
I would recommend as a short-term fix moving the bulk of your email into a local pst or just out of the inbox that the pre doesn't try to fetch a ton of email at once, at least then it's useable until they fix their buggy email app.  I wouldn't hold my breath and start working around it now - palm doesn't seem to concerened with fixing these issues in an expedient fashion.

  • Just activated BlueAnt S4 with my iPhone4 and having an issue with the Phone Commands

Just activated BlueAnt S4 with my iPhone4 and having an issue with the Phone Commands - as I have multiple numbers for people (ie: iPhone, Work, Home), is it the BlueAnt that is having the issues or the iPhone? Tried to eliminate info on my partner's contact in with only 2 contact numbers (iPhone, Home) and one or the other is totally screwing up. Seems, from BlueAnt website, that it would be the iPhone contacts...and the guessing begins?!! Anyone else have similar issues when BlueAnt S4 was paired and giving 'Phone Commands'?? Any suggestions would be beneficial as I've spent way too much time on the web looking for a good fix/answer. Thanks.

  • MMS App And Browser Deleted From Phone!

I Wiped My Phone and I No LOnger Have MMS Or THe BRowser On My Phone What Do I Do?  PLZ HELP

Not to worry Brian303.  The solution is simple:  You need to reinstall your OS.
Plug your phone into your PC via USB.  Open Desktop Manager.  If you don't have it installed, go to www.blackberry.com and look at the top for Apps & Software.  The link is on that page.
Once you're plugged in and DM is running, click Device at the top and Update from the drop-down menu.  You might get a prompt saying your phone is up to date.  If you're actually offered an update, do it.  If you're not, look down in that box to where it shows Show Other Versions.  Click that and look for the OS currently installed on your phone (it should be the one at the top).  Make sure that one is checked and click Update.  Go grab a sandwich and wait until the update is complete.  Once completed, your MMS app and browser will be present once again.  Be sure not to get too excited or you might choke on your sandwich.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Internet, Tv and phone issues Comcast cannot solve

We've had poor internet service from Comcast for 6-8 months. It has been getting progressively worse and then our phone service (Comcast) started going out. Sometimes the internet would be 45mps download, and for no reason it would drop to 2 or less. On July 4th, the tech came out as internet and phone were out. Original tech missed the appointment window, so new tech was 1.5 hours past latest scheduled time. He replaced the modem and an inside splitter. Same issues. New tech a week or so later. Changes modem again. Tells me that he knows he'll be back, that our area has "some major issues" going on and they cannot figure them out. He recommended X1 Platform and says that maybe that will help. Order X1. Tech says that cable connection has a broken connecter, replaces it. Next day, cable freezes and internet goes out. On Friday, Comcast doesn't show up for scheduled appointment. I called and was told that there was a service outage in our area and that they send techs to fix that, which should fix our issues. Why didn't they call me so I could go to work instead of waiting? "Oh, they should have, we understand your frustration, we're sorry." Talk to Serge, a manager, and tell him that it's still not fixed. Sent a new tech today. Said cable from street to home had serious issues and that cable from outside to in the home was damaged and had water inside it. He also made reference to our area having issues. When he leaves he states that his reading is "green 2", which is good, but not as good as green 0. Also said that we were red-12 when he arrived. Went to close the ticket and said that it couldn't be closed as there is another outage in our area and said that it is a mainline issue. Hard wired connection is now less than 3mbps....always happens between 7-11 PM. Has anyone else had these issues? I feel like telling Comcast to refund my last six months and switching to an alternate provider. Anybody else been thru this?

  • My partner updated to IOS 5 last night on his iPhone 4 and can no longer pick up any wifi signal and phone signal is dire in areas where he had no problem before... anyone having similar issues??

After updating to IOS 5 on an iPhone 4 can no longer get wifi in my home and phone signal is terrible and drops out taking up to 10 mins to re-appear... anyone else having these sort of problems??

I am having similar problems on my new iPhone 4S
My mac gets good wifi connection in the same location. I measured the signal strength -- something like -77db signal vs. -90db noise.
But my iPhone WiFi keeps cutting in and out. In fact, I left my phone on last night to update various apps over WiFi. When I checked it this a.m. I had received several warning messages from AT&T that I was nearing my 3G data limit. I looked at my phone and it had consumed nearly 100mb of cellular data overnight, when it should have been connected over WiFi.
Needless to say, it's taken some of the thrill away from my new iPhone...

  • Hi, I am wondering why my iphone won't send pictures through messages, I have MMS on and I have tried sending it with 3G on aswell and still doesn't work. Someone please help me :)

Hi, I am wondering why my iphone won't send pictures through messages, I have MMS on and I have tried sending it with 3G on aswell and still doesn't work. Someone please help me :)

    Hey lozza567,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending MMS messages. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
Issues with sending and receiving MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    - An iPhone 3G or later.
    - iOS 3.1 or later.
    - A cellular data connection. MMS isn't available if you are using only Wi-Fi.
    - A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You may need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information.
    - A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network different from your billing cellular provider's network. Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps first
    1. Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
    3. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
    4. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you are roaming on a cellular provider network different from your billing provider's network.
    5. Verify that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar at the top left of your iPhone.
    6. Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
    7. Verify that you can send and receive SMS. If you are unable to send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above.
    8. MMS may not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    9. Restart your iPhone.
    10. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
    11. Reseat your SIM card.
If you are still unable to send or receive MMS, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you are sending a group message.
    3. Make sure that you are using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
    4. Verify a "Pay as you go" MMS plan has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if unsure of your MMS plan or available balance.
    5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    6. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    7. Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
    8. If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process may not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
    9. Contact your carrier to verify that you are provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
    10. Contact your carrier to verify that there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
    11. Your carrier may require APN settings to be modified to use MMS. Learn more about when you should adjust APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • International Roaming and Whats it all about.

Roaming and what’s it about?Roaming is when you are no longer able to Pick Up your home Network (O2-UK). This is normally when you are in another country. However it is possible to pick up French Network when in UK and the Irish Networks when you’re still in Northern Ireland.  But if you phone is displaying anything else beside O2-UK or BT Cellnet (On Some Older Phones), then you are Roaming on a Foreign Network and Roaming Charges will apply if Services are used. Is O2-IE the same as O2-UK?Answer is no. O2-IE is a completely independent business to O2-UK and therefore Roaming Charges would apply.O2-IE (O2 Ireland) and O2-UK (O2 United Kingdom) are both Part of the Telefonica Group, but this is all and is 2 Separate businesses  Do I need to Activate Roaming? If you are an O2 PAYG Customer then Roaming is activated automatically as you can only spend what you have in Credit.O2 Contract customers may need to call 202 to confirm they have Roaming Activated on their account if they have never used the service before or had issues in the past.  How does Roaming Work? When you travel outside your Home Network, your Mobile Phone Sim will ask the Roaming (Foreign) network first if it can use the services on their Network. (You IMEI number of your phone is also sent to verify it’s not the Stolen / Missing Database as well) The Foreign Network will take details from your Sim card and go back to the International Centre and check if O2 has an agreement first to use the Network and then if the Sim card is activated to use the Roaming. (This is why there is a delay sometimes in first switching on your mobile to you getting a signal and a Network Name) If all comes back ok, then the Sim will receive instruction and you notice the Roaming Network Name shown on your phone. What you may not know is that when the phone is authorised to use the Roaming Network, It is given a temporary allocated foreign number of the country you are visiting. So you may have someone calling you and they may notice that the Ring tone suddenly sounds different in their Earpiece and not like the UK Ring. This is because of the Foreign Number allocated and that you are roaming on their Countries Network. One this you will never know though is the Temporary Roaming Number as this is only a Forward number and changes.  So what charges do you pay for when roaming?Making Calls?                     Yes you pay for all of the Call.Receiving Calls?                                Yes you pay for the Roaming country Inbound Part of the Call.Sending a SMS?                                Yes you pay to send a SMS.Receiving a SMS?             No it’s free to receive a SMS.Sending a MMS?              Yes you pay to send a MMS.Receiving a MMS?           You may be charged for Data Usage to receive the MMS ( I never have on O2, But I know other UK networks charge)Data Usage                         Is all chargeable  The Person who is Calling or Texting you from the UK. This is where a lot of confusion becomes and people become worried regarding charges.                        Simple Fact to Remember:Even though the person you are contacting is abroad. You are still only calling their UK Mobile Number. So treat it as they are still in the UK. So for example: If you have free UK Text allowance, it will still be Free (Your Texting a UK mobile Number)If you have Free UK Minutes, then again you are calling a UK Mobile Number, so it will use your UK Minutes Allowance. If you don’t have Free Allowances, then you will be charged at your normal standard Rate of ringing a UK or Texting a UK Mobile number  Couple of Questions and Answers that may come in useful: Q)   I’m abroad and my friend is abroad, will I be charged to contact my friend as I’m only calling a UK Mobile numberA)   Yes, even though you are calling a UK Mobile Number. You are not in the UK and the person you are calling isn’t, so you will pay the Roaming Charges to make the call and the person who is receiving the call will pay the inbound part of the charge Q)   Why am I charged twice for Voice Mail Messages?A)   When someone tries to contact you and you don’t answer, the call is then passed back to the O2-UK voice mail as a return call, So you pay for the Return part of the call even though you didn’t answer your Mobile. Then when you want to listen to your voice mail, you pay to make the call and listen to it. So this is where Double Charges apply Q)   Why are inbound SMS free when I’m abroad?A)   This was set by the EU Telecoms Parliament, that any EU Mobile Company must allow their users to allow incoming SMS for Free anywhere in the world. Q)   What is the Difference between Roaming and Home Networks?A)   Your home network is in your network where you purchased the Sim from. So if you purchased your Sim card in the UK and from O2, your home network would be O2-UK and you would be allocated a UK Mobile number.Roaming is when you are no longer on your home network. So for example you go to Spain and you pick up Telefonica ES. This mean you are Roaming on a Spanish Network. If you have any other questions please ask and I will gladly try to answer them and will keep editing the 1st thread to make it easier for everyone to read.

All calls to the UK to landline numbers use the international code +44 and drop the first zero. Mobiles you normally just dial the number as you would if in the UK but on some US networks you do have to use the +44.Some info here to call the BVI from the US.http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/results.php?FromCode=United+States&ToCode=British+Virgin+IslandsBe awre of the call costs from the USA :When in:       Calling:  Landlines - per minute99pMobiles - per minute£1.49 Receiving calls - per minute99pSending texts - per message49pCost per MB of using data:Data usage£6
