Certain objects are transparent in flash movie

I've been getting reports from users that certain objects are invisible in my flash banner. The browser culprit is IE 8 (but someone also reported seeing this in IE 6). I have been unable to duplicate this and therefore, find it very difficult to troubleshoot. I do have the Wmode set to transparent, but I've made it opaque and still had the "invisible" reports. Here is the site:
http://tekkytoys.com
The objects reported as invisible are the robot's body and head. If someone out there can see this and give me a clue, it would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Mark

First guess here is that some elements may require a certain version of the player, and they don't have it!

  • Anchored objects are transparent

    Thanks in advance for the help. I am using CS5.
    I have a document were multiple anchored objects ended up overlapping each other. My problem is that the anchored objects have a transparency set to them that I cannot remove. Things to note:
    The transparency goes away if I release the anchored object.
    I have an object style assigned to the anchored frames, but there are style overrides that I cannot clear on the anchored objects.
    Changes I make to the object style assigned to the anchored objects have no effect. Only the "anchored objects options" attributes box will modify the anchored objects.
    Any help with this issue would be great. Thanks!

    You Sir, are an absolute genious! It makes absolute and perfect sence, but I guess that's what they mean by "Hindsight is 20/20."
    Thanks again!

  • Is there a better way to position a flash movie than ap div?

    I'm creating a new website(not yet active) and have a great flash movie for the home page.  I've place it in an ap div and of course it moves to a different position in different browsers. Is there any way I can get it to display correctly, or is there a better way to position the movie? Thanks.

  • When both plug-in objects and jQuery mouse events are present, Firefox re-starts the plug-in object (eg Flash movie) after a jQuery mouse event occurs. This doesn't happen in any other browser. How can I get around this?

    Please check http://www.syus.com for an example. There is a Flash movie underneath the main navigation. The main navigation has a jQuery mouse event, and when you mouse over a button in the main navigation, the Flash movie re-starts. I can confirm that this happens not only on Flash swf files, but on standard <object> YouTube embeds.

    Ok, I promise this is my last post without your help. I did some more troubleshooting and it only seems to happen when jQuery appends elements to the body that were previously invisible. In other words, I can simply change the css in jQuery from using element.css('display','inline'), but if I try to use something like slideDown or other jQuery tooltip functions that append and/or remove elements or style definitions it causes the "object restart" bug.
    It is impossible for any developer to eliminate this bug without changing the actual source of jQuery, which I can't do. My only other option is not to use sophisticated show/hide jQuery elements like drop-down menus and tooltips on the same page as an embedded object, but I don't want to do this since Safari, Chrome and even IE (dear God) users won't have a problem with this. I think this is a major major bug that should be fixed in Firefox 4 as more and more sites will be looking to use the latest jQuery plugins.

  • Why do Flash movies only play at certain sites?

    For some reason, flash movies won't play at certain sites. They work fine at YouTube. But, at places like MLB.com and NFL.com, nothing happens. My system specs are:
    HP Pavilion dv7
    8.0GB Memory
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Firefox 3.6.8
    Flash Player 10.1

  • Flash movies made in keynote are not working in firefox

    I have just finished a 65 page iwebsite at
    www.acendedmasterscards.com
    it is a card reading with a flash movie - made in
    keynote for each card. It looks beautiful in
    Safari but in firefox I get a blank white bit
    instead of the movie. Help! I would also love
    comments on the site! Karen.

    I join in the other's congratulations as your site is wonderful. I really enjoy it and I have bookmarked it that I too can post a link to it when I get to an appropriate place in my web building. I will inform you of it.
    I really like what you did with flash and I was trying to do something similar using keynote but I was exporting to a podcast instead of flash and it was never working right. I now thanks to you might try to do it in flash.
    As far as the other browsers are concerned you might ask the question on the keynote forum as well perhaps one of the experts there will have another idea as to why it does not work. In the mean time keep positive thoughts and perhaps safari will become the new ie since it has been released to windows.

  • How does one detect flash movie (embed object) focus?

    If I use javascript to shift focus to the embedded flash
    movie object, for example with the following line of code:
    document.getElementById("myMovie").focus();
    Is there any location within actionscript that I can add an
    event listener to detect this shift in focus to the flash movie? I
    have tried attaching a "focusIn" event handler to the application
    container, to the the stage, and the systemManager, but none of
    them appear to work.
    Essentially I need to know what object within the application
    is receiving focus when I make this javascript call.

  • Many objects are partially transparent though opacity is always set to 100%

    I've noticed that many of my objects in this 3D project appear slightly transparent, as if the opacity is set to 85% or so, and I have no idea why. For example, when two objects are on screen and one is in front of the other in terms of Z space, I can see the other object coming through. Any idea why this is happening?

  • Why are transparent Keynote objects visible in playback?

    I often want an object to rotate around one end rather than about the center. My workaround is to duplicate the object in question, flip it around both axes and attach it to the end of the object that I want to be the axis of rotation.
    At this point, I'm seeing a mirror image of my object attached to my original object, I make the mirror image object completely transparent (color slider goes to completely transparent, object slider goes to completely transparent).
    Now I group the transparent object to the visible object and apply the rotate action. The object appears to rotate about its end as desired. But in playback, I can see the "transparent" object.
    I'm at a loss as to how to make a line object any more transparent than to set the color of its lines transparent and to set the object graphics to transparent.

    Thanks Tulse,
    My real problem is with lines, but your response inspired me to try something I hadn't thought of, and it worked!
    Before grouping the "transparent," mirror image to the visible object, remove any arrows from lines, then set the line stroke to None.
    Maybe this bug gets fixed in iWork '09, but I'm not holding my breath.

    Hi users,
    Thanks for reply.
    Actually the problem is -
    For portrait dimensions are -
    width 20
    height 30
    for landscape , obviously it will be
    width - 30
    height - 20
    Thus , for second page - table width is 20 while page width is 30 and so 10 cm space remains blank on right side of page
    user says that right side should not be blank, rather you extend table width to whole page width.
    thats where the problem is

  • IE does not display my flash movie

    Hello fellows, I am having a huge problem with MIE. It does
    not displays the flash object embed! Firefox works fine, but IE
    doesn't!
    Here are the codes:
    quote:
    Code made by me:
    <object width="757" height="153">
    <param name="movie" value="/script/top.swf"> <param
    name="quality" value=high>
    <param name="play" value=true> <param name="bgcolor"

    <embed src="/script/top.swf" width="757" height="153"
    wmode="transparent">
    </embed>
    </object>
    The funny thing is that I use almost the same code to display
    another flash movie and it WORKS for the second!!! Why is that? The
    Firefox displays both of them fine.
    I tried a second code:
    quote:
    Code generated by Flash itself:

    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="

    </embed>
    </object>
    When I use the code above it returns to me an error on line
    215, but my file has only 196 lines! And if I count the included
    javascript, the possible lines are commentaries. The Firefox works
    fine.
    What is wrong with IE?
    See ya!

    "odebase"? should be "codebase"
    Use the tags generated by Flash when you publish to HTML and
    things should
    be fine. Don't try to do it yourself unless you are an expert
    (and even
    experts don't just typ in tags themselves .. they copy and
    paste from
    previous html they have that works)

  • Layout page with flash movie on top

    I want to have the index page for my site open with a flash
    movie on top of the rest of the content of the page at a set pixel
    distance from the top of the page and centered horizontally in
    relation to the browser. I have been able to make this work with an
    absolute location using CSS elements in Dreamweaver and the
    equivalent of what used to be layers. It all works as long as the
    position of the layer is absolute, and your monitor settings are
    pretty standard. Otherwise the flash plays on the left:
    http://www.iconoclastic.net/metaphordogs/index.html
    When I try to make it a relative location, it moves to the
    top of the browser. When I try to make it relative to a table, it
    displaces the table content rather than playing over it.
    Any assistance would be appreciated
    Alec

    The standard solution is to set wmode="transparent" and <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> in your embed/object html, but that only helps to fix the problem in win/IE. The problem has been there on Adobe's own home page for years. If you're unlucky enough to use a Mac there's no effective solution for this problem.
