How does one detect flash movie (embed object) focus?

If I use javascript to shift focus to the embedded flash
movie object, for example with the following line of code:
document.getElementById("myMovie").focus();
Is there any location within actionscript that I can add an
event listener to detect this shift in focus to the flash movie? I
have tried attaching a "focusIn" event handler to the application
container, to the the stage, and the systemManager, but none of
them appear to work.
Essentially I need to know what object within the application
is receiving focus when I make this javascript call.

If you're not using chrome you can just go to adobe's website (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) and download the newest flash player. You run the .dmg and then open the application, which updates flash. With the latest version of flash there should be a preference pane within system preferences to allow you to change settings and check for updates.

How does one make Flash dissolve to a URL redirect or better yet, make window go away

Have flash installed - works great - except I want it to resolve to different URL when finished. A second option is to see the window go away and the HTML appear underneath.
I have already used the transparent and this does not work. For some reason, it makes its own window and pushes the HTML down and after it runs, one must scroll down to read the index page.

you can fade anything in flash with actionscript. but to fade the browser window that contains flash and your popup (or popunder), you'll need to use javascript and/or dhtml or something else and the browser fades are problematic if you want your code to work across a range of browser types.

How does one create a LabView-native object for interfacing to custom H/W?

I have created an API to some custom hardware.
I've created both C-dll and .NET Assembly, and I can create VIs using either.
However, for programmer simplicity, I'd much prefer to offer LabView support in the form of a LabView-native object.
I've considered doing it via a sub-VI, but I'd really prefer a native object.
Questions:
1) What is the correct/proper name for a such a native LabView object that wraps the API to my custom hardware device?
2) What language is this thing written in?
3) Can I write this thing, or can NI only create such a thing?
4) If i can write it, where can I obtain the SDK for creating it?

Yes, removing the block diagram obscures the code so much that not even newer versions of LabVIEW can make sense of it.
I think under the hood it must be converting it to Perl.

Premier After Effects... How does one places the whole movie clip into AF?

After years of using Premiere, I’m looking at using After Effects. Premiere does most of what I need (I don’t need moving graphics and titles) but the masking and rotoscoping seems to be better in After Effects. I’ve started a great video by Tom Green at school. This is probably silly question- I don’t understand is how does one places the whole movie clip into AF? I only see 30 seconds or so of the 5 minute clip on the timeline in AF.

Ahh, thanks. I simply add more minutes (the length of the clip) into the "new composition".
A new problem: When I try a dynamic link with premiere AE says “Failed to connect to adobe Premiere Pro Dynamic Link”, but PP will link with AE. I just installed AF last week. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall them (along with the rest of the Creative Suite)?

If your using File>Place then photoshop cs2 creates what's known as Smart Objects, which photoshop 7 didn't have.
In photoshop cs2 you can rasterize the smart objects and that should make the Cut function available.
Select both placed layers, right click on the area to the right of the tumbnail and select Rasterize Layers.
If in photoshop cs2 you to Help>Photoshop Help and look under Layers>Smart Objects, that should give you a good overview of what smart objects are.

Yes you still need to use your finger to do all of the things that you need to use it for even if you use a wireless keyboard. You are merely adding a larger more robust keyboard to the device. You are not replacing the touch gestures features with the use of an external keyboard.

the metadata transfers ok, it is the description of that photo that does not transfer.

Use the File -> Export command and note the settings to write the metadata to the file on export.

Johnnyontherocks it is likely you installed an updated version of the Adobe Application Manager. Remove all copies of Adobe Creative software from the computer and reinstall to downgrade the installation.
