CF 8 / Vista / DW CS3

I am so frustrated I'm ready to take a huge hammer to my
laptop. I just upgraded to Vista, installed CF 8 and DW CS3, and
now I can't browse .cfm pages in my browser. I am getting the
following error:
Server Error in Application "Default Web Site"
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
Description: The page cannot be displayed because an internal
server error has occurred.
Error Code: 0x8007045a
Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler
Module: IsapiModule
Requested URL:
http://localhost/JeffGuertin/index.cfm
Physical Path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\JeffGuertin\index.cfm
Logon User: Anonymous
Logon Method: Anonymous
Handler: cfm pages
Here is what I have done... I HAVE set up handler mappings in
IIS pointing to the following:
C:\ColdFusion8\runtime\lib\wsconfig\1\jrun.dll. I also have set up
ColdFusion pages in IIS in the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions area.
What the #%*& is going on now? I thought CF 8 was
supposed to be compatible with Vista and all of the b.s. wasn't
necessary? Please help!!!

Sounds like the web server connector did not install
properly.
Try this.
In Vista click All Programs > Adobe > ColdFusion 8 and
then right-click on Web Server Configuration Tool and select Run As
Administrator
When the Web Server Configuration window opens see if it
shows any Configured Web Servers. It should show something like
this:
[localhost:coldfusion]Internet Information Server (IIS) All
If it does show that, click on it and then click Remove. If
it shows anything else, click on it and then click Remove. If it
shows
nothing, just continue to the Add... step
Click OK when it tells you that your web server is running
and you will need to restart it to complete the removal of the JRun
Connector.
Now click the Add... button and make sure it has this:
JRun Host: localhost
JRun Server: coldfusion
Web Server: Internet Information Server (IIS)
IIS Web Site: All
and check the box that says Configure web server for
ColdFusion 8 applications
Then click OK
A prompt should come up that asks you if you want to restart
your web server, click Yes
Click Exit and then try your site again.

  • Vista and CS3 - Summary of issues found so far

After working with CS3 for a couple of weeks, here is a summary of definite problems I have run into:
    1) Memory leakage: The CS3 apps fragment memory at a fast clip. After a couple of hours of normal production work with PS, IA and ID I can recover more than 500MB of RAM using a memory defragger. (The record so far is 856MB.) Workaround is to shut down the apps and run the defragger every two to three hours.
    2) Bridge interacts with PS, ID and IA in some unknown way to hang vector copy/paste. Copying a path to the clipboard in InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator hangs the app until Bridge is closed. There is no problem if Bridge is not running. Workaround is to either keep Bridge shut down or close it if you run into a hang. The problem does NOT manifest copying text or pixel data, as far as I can tell; only vectors. It also only seems to affect clipboard copying. Alt-drag copying is not affected.
    3) The "Recent" function in Explorer is not accessible from the Adobe dialog in any of the apps, which is unfortunate as it's extremely useful. Currently I flip back and forth between the Adobe dialog and the OS dialog, according to whether I need the thumbnails or want to navigate to a recently used folder.
    4) Favorites in Bridge do not show up in the Adobe dialog in any of the suite apps, a serious omission from the CS2 version. I don't know if this is a bug or a deleted feature. (If the latter: shame on somebody!)
    5) Accessing a Version Cue project requires Bridge to be running. InDesign will crash hang when opening a Recent File that is in a Version Cue project if Bridge CS3 is not running.
The only other comment I can throw in here is that the faster load time promoted for Photoshop CS3 doesn't seem to manifest in a Vista environment. There may be a marginal improvement, but it's not significant. Illustrator remains very slow to load and to close, although it is much, much nicer to work with than earlier versions and does run faster.
I'm posting this for general info and in hopes it helps the engineering folks track down the bugs. The memory leakage and vector copy issues are surprising. The seem very large to have slipped through beta testing undetected.

    those with problems
    try the silent deployment technique
finally got the silent install working
and design premium cs3 is now installed!!!
    used application.xml.override
deploymentFile used was the install.xml included in the dvd's adobe cs3\deployment directory
    the commandline wENT--
    E:\Adobe cs3>setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile="e:\adobe cs3\deployment\install.xml"
    E:\Adobe cs3>Begin adobe setup
    UI mode : silent
End adobe setup. Exit code: 0
    E:\Adobe cs3>
the laterlines took the time but for good
and got exit code: 0 which means all merry- no errors occured during install
seems giving the complete path (not relative) to deploymentFile did the trick . earlier the setup had exited with exit code: 7
but GUI install still doesnt work on my vista
"so is it a problem of the installer GUI alone?"
and trying to uninstall cs3 from the add/remove progs bring up cs3 setup only to be followed immediately by "this program stopped working" vista message.
so a silent uninstall may be the option ...if i need it
thanks adobe for this deployment technique
    thnx for the wonderful products
thanx for all the installer trouble
thanx for the 10 hours ill spent

  • Epson 4870 on Vista with CS3 will not scan

I have an Epson 4870 scanner which I'm using with my Vista Home Premium (32 bit)software. When I first installed it, it worked fine. However, some update came along and made that a thing of the past. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. (The drivers are said to be Vista compatible, and they were for a while) I've searched the forum and Googled, but the only new advice I've seen is to turn off the Vista UAC or whatever, which opens the computer to security risks. Even with UAC off, it still doesn't work. I've considered getting a V700 or V750, but the reviews I've read don't show a significant difference in quality over the 4870, and I don't have enough 8x10 transparencies to warrant purchasing for that alone. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled CS3, trashed preferences, jumped over the moon while spinning counterclockwise, etc. Any suggestions?

May I suggest checking to verify the drivers you have been trying to install. I just went to http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=kVFQIoh3k1lpFyj2g2kFaMGu aI64nFnyUrvjJMOEt4IU003D&tc=6
and downloaded the Epson Scan 3.0u file listed for Vista and for the Epson 4870 scanner. After expanding the .exe file to a folder, I found that this software supports multiple scanners, your included. In checking Es34.inf I found the following:
    "[Version]
    Signature="$Windows NT$"
    LayoutFile=Layout.inf, Layout1.inf, Layout2.inf
    Class=Image

    RegSection = "SOFTWARE\EPSON\EPSON Scan\ES0034"
    RegSection.x64 = "SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EPSON\EPSON Scan\ES0034"
    ScanApp = "EPSON Smart Panel"
DiskName = "EPSON Scanners Driver Disk"
    ICCName = "PER487_R.ICM,PER487_T.ICM"
It does appear this is the correct Vista driver and software to support your scanner. May I suggest it is possible to have corrupt files not being rewritten on reinstallation. After uninstalling and possibly running a registry cleaner, you might try installing the software and drivers from Safe Mode. Hopefully this will keep other drivers and antivirus software drivers from loading, giving you a better opportunity at a successful install.

  • Vista: Flash CS3 literally flashes then blanks out toolboxes

Something very annoying occurs in Flash CS3, and sometimes
other Adobe products like Photoshop CS3. When pressing down the
mouse button for a while (i.e. when dragging something), Flash
suddenly flashes once and blanks out all toolboxes. Hovering over
the toolboxes makes the items reappear. Minimizing then maximizing
Flash also works, which makes me wonder if Vista's display drivers
are the cause. It happens randomly in Photoshop, but in Flash I can
actually trigger this by holding down the mouse button for a few
    seconds, so
    here's
    a video.
Very very annoying, having to minimize/maximize your
application every five minutes. Any ideas?

I haven't been clicking things fast. It happens when I try to save. It's not random. I've spent a decent amount of time on google and haven't found a solution. There are a lot of results about freezing and crashing, but I haven't found any on freezing due to saving.
I know it should be fine, but that's what's weird about it. It shouldn't be freezing like this and it's at a point where it's not something I can ignore.

  • Printing from CS3 under Vista to Windows 2003 server print que very slow

I just upgraded one of my machines to vista with CS3. I normally print to a windows 2003 server print spool que. When I go to print it takes forever to pull up my different printers and then go to properties. On my XP machines there is no problem, I can select the print que, go into properties for my printer and it works fine. Something with Vista, CS3 and WIndows 2003 server?
    Thanks

Im curious about your 802.1x issues are. Im testing user profiles VS login window profiles for 802.1x on our Cisco wi-fi LAN right now, and I'm scratching my head on how the login window profile is actually supposed to work. Its a chicken-and-the-egg situation for me. I cant use user login window profiles, I have to use user profiles, which don't work very well in my environment for various reasons. Granted, it has improved since 10.5.3, but its still not working as I expect it to work. Do you have a Apple Discussion post related to this issue I can read?
Sorry for hijacking this discussion with off-topic content...

  • Xp vs vista  cs2 vs cs3

I'm having trouble visalising my web sites on local host on a
    vista pc with CS3
On my old laptop with XP and CS2, I can test my sites locally
    before uploading.
My website folder "hotelrose" is in htdocs (apache), and
"hotelrose" has 2 subfolders "includes" and "photos"
When I test locally all works great.
On my new laptop with vista and CS3, I have the same
structure for the folders, I see my webpage, but the photos that
are in the subfolder aren't found, neither are the files in
    "includes" found.
The "manage my site" info is identical on both PCs
The code on both pc's is identical.
I don't know if this is an apache probleme or a dreamwear
parameter that has changed . Or maybe I'm going offf the deep end
    <g>
What am I doing wrong ?
    TIA
    Pat

as a guess- part of the problem is that probably some of the
    paths used in
the pages are Site Root relative (the path would start with a
    leading
/slash) If the web address is
    http://localhost/folder/page.html
    and that
page has a site root relative path to the folder level, it
    won't work and
    you get the broken images.
Fixes- change them from site root relative paths to document
    relative paths
[note- if you are using includes, don't change the paths in
    them. Paths
inside of includes should be site root relative so they will
    work in any
    folder level of the site]
Other fix- define a "virtual host" for this site in your
    local server's
config section and in your OS's hosts file. Then you could
    use a fake
    testing domain like
    http://rosesite.local and site
    root relative paths would
    work.

  • CS3 + Vista + Epson R1800 = SLOWWW dialogues

I've no clue why this is happening. When I select my R1800 printer in CS3 (it is not my default printer) all the dialogue forms throughout the printing process take about 2 minutes each. It practically freezes the computer. It happens immediately when I select the R1800 and disappears completely as soon as the last dialogue form is done (and the printer starts reacting).
I have Vista and CS3 working fine at home with an R2200 Epson. Any ideas? It works fine with the other printer on my network (a Ricoh Multi-function system).

I tend to think that it's an security issue with some of the helper processes for the printer. Epson printers launch a number of executables to display dialogs, status monitors and so on and they may either be hindered by limited permissions or run in compatibility mode. I'd investigate that and maybe re-install/ update the driver. Also make sure you run any installs as administrator on Vista. Likewise, attempt to print with full admin priviliges and see if it is any different. Lastly, if your printer comes with any soft-proof and RIP tools, try to not install them and use the printer directly. Maybe it's just the initialization of these tools that takes forever.

  • Photoshop CS3 Slow to Open Images

I've just converted to win7 and have PS CS3 installed.  When I do an update check, there are no updates for photoshop available, so I believe I'm  current.  If I open an image jpg via the file menu, or bridge, or using ACDSee, the image files (or files) are slow to open.  If can usually see a message up in the photoshop title bar (where the logo is followed by "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended") where it will briefly say "not responding".  This started with going to win7.  It will take 20 seconds or more to open a jpg and these are not giant files.
Under Options/Performance, I've indicated to Let Photoshop use 1194MB which is the top of the ideal range.  The range that photoshop indicates as ideal never changes, no matter whether photoshop is running alone or with other  apps.  I've indicated scratch disks on my E and C drives, with E being the first listed.  E have over 500 gb of free space and C has over 190gb free.  History states are 20 and cache is 6.  GPU settings for my NVidia GE Force 8800 video card has enable 3D acceleration checked.
I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to optimize.  I never had this problem in vista using CS3.

This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.
The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a generic printer driver your default printer.
If you don't have one, download it here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=pdrv&platform=win
All part of the fascinating world of Photoshop CS3.
Regarding the update status, in PS go to Help > About to check the version; it should be 10.0.1.

  • Camera RAW 431 won't work on my Vista 64 machine.

    Vista 64
    CS3
Camera RAW 431 won't work on my Vista 64 machine. I keep getting the error that it's the wrong file type when trying to open the RAW file, and I get no thumbnails. I've deleted all cache files manually--not using the Adobe help because their wrong about their file locations, that's for Windows XP and not Vista. (You can't access "Documents and Settings" in Vista, and there is no:
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
    Vista:Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
I even uninstalled the entire CS3 Suite and reinstalled it. It still won't work. In fact, I can't even use the old raw plugin file anymore--it now won't open RAW files either.
Anyway, I just need a confirmation that Camera RAW 431 actually works in Vista 64, since the directions do not in the least relate to Vista 64, but, rather, Windows XP, and the method used to get RAW 431 to work in Vista 64.
    Thanks

    Zippy,
"C:\Program Files (x86)\" is the location of 32-bit apps (like Photoshop CS3) in 64-bit Vista. It is known as simply "C:\Program Files\" in all 32-bit editions of Windows. Since the vast majority of Windows/Photoshop users are likely still on a 32-bit platform, it is understandable why the instructions omit the 64-bit specific folder path.
The VirtualStore copy indicates that at some point, you (or Photoshop) attempted a programmatic update of the file, and it attempted to write into the restricted Common Files folder. Vista redirected that to the VirtualStore folder instead. On my 64-bit Vista install, I have no Adobe files in there at all... this is likely due to my insistence on manual updates.
    I would try this:
    1. Backup all your personal Photoshop files (actions, palettes, window positions, keyboard shortcuts, brushes, etc.).
    2. Uninstall Photoshop CS3 as best you can.
    3. Manually delete all Photoshop-related folders inside the VirtualStore. You may have to look inside both the virtualised "Program Files (x86)\Common Files" and "Program Files (x86)\Adobe" folders.
    4. Run the WinCS3Clean script to ensure there are no problematic bits left over from your beta CS3 install. I'm hoping your manual excursion through the Windows registry did not hurt more than it helped.
    5. Reinstall CS3 and manually update the "Camera Raw.8bi" plugin. I put mine in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\".
Depending on how your OS is configured, it may be easier if you login as Administrator first. Photoshop CS3, Bridge 2.1, ACR 4.4 (and all previous versions) and Lightroom 1.4 (and all previous versions) work as expected on my 64-bit Vista machine here, so this is not a general compatibility issue.

  • Help: symbol shifting between mac and windows, flash cs3

I'm doing work reviewing flash files created by other users
on mac and windows. I'm using os x 10.5.6. When I open a file
created in windows / flash cs3 some symbols on the stage will have
shifted upwards on the y axis. If I correct the shift and then send
it back to the windows user they see the symbols incorrectly
aligned, as if I had moved symbols around on a correctly aligned
    file.
The strange thing is not everything on the stage is shifted.
Only particular symbols will move, and it's usually symbols only
(not text frames, drawing objects, etc).
I believe there's a general history of bad behavior when
saving flash files and trading them back and forth between mac and
windows, but does anyone know what may be causing this? Or a
    remedy?
    Thank you in advance.
    Peter

also, I tried opening the same files in vista using a mac
mini with vista installed on a bootcamp partition. When opening
other windows authored flash files there I had shifting issues as
well, so I'm not convinced it's strictly a mac vs. windows issue.
Unless it's a flash cs3 on windows xp doesn't like mac flash cs3
    and vista flash cs3...

    Hello All
I am using adobe illustrator cs in windows vista and i get the following error when i try to delete, move or cut illustrator files:
'The action can't be completed because the file is open in another program'
It was working when i first started using it but now it just doesn't work at all.
All solutions will be highly appreciated.

It's not just a Vista thing. I frequently encounter the problem in both Windows XP and Vista with CS3 versions of Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat files.
I've heard no report yet as to whether this is fixed in CS4.

  • Photoshop and vista

    Hi,
I've found similar problems with Vista and CS3/4, mine is with Photoshop CS with Vista and I didn't find the right solution yet :
    - With the Vista Aero theme selected, somme Aero effects are disturbing to work on photoshop : moving layers is slowered (like the windows of the explorer), it's not much but disturbing for work.
    - If I select the Vista Basic theme I don't have this slowing layers issue but then I have the big lag/delay problem when painting with the brush (impossible to work).
    - So logically I tried to select the Aero Theme + deactivate some of the bothering Aero options (Enable deskstop composition/animate windows). But when I do so Vista in fact automatically select the Vista Basic Theme, so I have the lag problem with brush again...
It seems a bit odd not to be able to work with protoshop properly on Vista, some of you may have a solution to this ?
Or is it back to XP and that's it ?
    Many thanks in advance,

uuummm..it should be OK with those specs.
I would reset Areo back to default for now and try it in XP compatibility mode.
And have a fiddle with the preference. ( don't forget to close CS and reopen to enable the changes).
Lower the History states to 10 or 15.
Up the ram usage to 80% - you might have tweak this abit
Move the cache up and down to see if that makes a difference.
Place a scratch disk on drive 2.
Also, if it's a new machine there is usually an initial period when Vista is indexing, prefetching, etc which can slow disk access temporarily.
What size images and brushes are you using?......try the brushes with smoothing and other options disabled and see if that helps.

  • [VB CS3] Error 430: activex component can't create object

    Hi
Recent install on Vista 32 (CS3 master collection), with group policy etc, and I'm getting this error when trying to automate InDesign. A forum search suggested running ID as an admin user to register things, but that hasn't fixed it. Interestingly, Photoshop appears to work just fine.
any suggestions on how to fix it?
    K

    Ludek, thanks for the response.
After a few tests and source code looking, it turns out that we have a custom library being called mixed in with CR ActiveX generation (not a design I agree with). That problem was that our DLL wasn't registered, and the form couldn't create an object from our library.
So manually registering our library got Crystal Reports farther, but there is still an error that appears. I now see the Crystal Report controls (Print, Page next/prev, BO Emblem etc..) but it fails to load the report with this error:
    Invalid Argument Provided.
But the report works when using the Visual Studio Install Package.
I'm going to have to put some message boxes and see how far it gets in the code.

  • Illustrator CS3 to CorelDRAW 12

I want to be able to work in Illustrator CS3 and port work to CorelDRAW 12 due to compatibilty requirements. Can anybody, please, point me in the direction of the problems I might (=will !!) encounter.
I may be able to import it to CorelDRAW X4, so long as I can get X4 to output version 12 compatible files. (I've never used CorelDRAW !)
    Thanks for any advice.
(I'll be running on Vista with CS3 and XP with CorelDRAW)

X4 will output legacy formats but, realistically, Corel 12 is a couple of years out of date at this point. This can be a problem as even the latest versions of Corel (not to mention Adobe products) handle some complex tasks like dropshadows entirely differently than 12 did, making backward compatibility on these features problematical at best.
If you're merely doing line art, you should be okay. But then, I have had even solid color fills change radically when taken between Adobe and Corel (either direction--the problem is repeatable in files where it happens, but is not consistent in that it does not happen to every file, or even all that often--just often enough to drive you nuts).
I *have* to do this for some of our customers who use Corel, but as an on-purpose job flow, you could be asking for trouble (IMHO). And adding a dinosaur (well, okay, woolly mammoth) like Corel 12 into the mix?
As ever; your mileage may vary.
Still, I wish you luck. Seriously.
