CF Flash Forms to Flex

We have several intensive CF Flash Form apllications built
and are looking to move to Flex Builder. We need to convert our
current applications to Flex and I was wondering if there is a
quicker way other than manually rebuilding the applications to get
them running with Flex? I have tried using a CFDUMP to retrieve the
MXML from the flash form hoping that I could work with that but
have noticed quite a few syntax discrepencies. Anybody find a way
of accomplishing this? Thanks!

You are doing exactly what you will need to do to convert...
It is time consuming...your best bet is to start from
scratch. I have tried and I found it more difficult to correct the
syntax errors...plus I need the code time in Flex Builder to
understand the IDE and what it does...

  • CF8 Flash forms nor server monitor not working on authenticated server

    Have bee troubleshooting an issue with the server monitor and
    flash forms not working on a CF8 server that is completely
    authenticated. You can see the full thread of the issue here
    http://groups.google.com/group/houcfug/browse_thread/thread/71160184e762587f?hl=en
    In the pre-cf8 days, we had implemented the following "fix"
    for NT Authentication with CF Templates
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_18516
    However, when I uncheck the "Check that file exists" flag in
    IIS6, both the server monitor and the CFFORM type = flash are now
    both working. Am I making a tradeoff between NT security and
    Flash/Flex?
    My question is this, is the "fix" referenced in the KB
    article abonve still needed for CF8?
    If so, do I have to decide between security and Flash/Flex or
    is there a way to have both NT security and flash/flex on the
    server?
    If not, I would suggest that somebody from Adobe make an edit
    to the KB article pointing out that the "Fix" is not needed for CF8
    and if implemented will break the server monitor and flash forms
    and Flex on that CF server.
    Thanks,
    M

    I mean when I open the administrator and click on Launch
    Server Monitor it does nothing. Does not open and as far as I can
    tell no error is generated or logged. If I open it outside of the
    the administrator it opens but when I click on Statistics or Alerts
    I get a logon Server Monitor logon box that tells me that the
    ColdFusion Server is not started.

  • Made a form in Flex 3, can't get it to load in Flash.

    Hi,
    sorry, I really am a novice at this.
    I am building a Flash site, and have some image galleries that run with a component. To load a gallery into the main page I have, for example, the following code: (this works just fine)
    stop();
    loadMovie ("../gallery_Engagements/content.swf","loader_engagements");
    However, I made a contact form in Flex 3, and I am trying to load in exactly the same way, using this code:
    stop();
    loadMovie ("../contact/ContactForm.swf","loaderContact_mc");
    Is there something different that I need to do to get the Flex swf to load into my page? Everything is set up in the same way, it just wont work with the Flex file. Any help would be appreciated.  :-)
    Thanks.

    Wow, a full week and no replies.  Am I doing something that is that far wrong?  :-)
    Anyone?

  • Problems with email form in Flex

    I've been scouring the web for an email form in Flex for several days now and am stuck because of what I think are these several areas.
    Setting up the back end - I am running wamp server 2.0 on my devolping machine and have a Windows 2008 Server with PHP set up at my disposal as well.  Most of the tutorials I've come across don't go over these configurations, I've figured a few things out, but am still rather in the dark and am unsure what I've learned is accurate.  Here are a couple questions:
    How do I set up the Flex Build Path.  For example I have a folder created in the www directory of the wamp server named mailform where I tell the HTTPService's url property to post to a php file named 'mail.php'  So would this be correct?
    <mx:HTTPService
    id="emailService" url="http://localhost/mailform/mail.php"
    method="POST" resultFormat="xml" result="emailResult()" useProxy="false"/>
    Do I need to change values in wamp's php.ini file.  From what I've found smtp_server, smtp_port, and php_openssl need to be changed.
    Do I need to open up a port on my router (25)?
    Would I need to use an alternative app like PEAR: Mail or phpMailer.  For testing purposes I'm using my gmail account, the client's site this is for uses a bellsouth.net account.
    2. Are problems still persisting with Flash Player 10, like illustrated in this thread: http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=196454  As msfx pointed every email form example I've downloaded, there've been many, I have not been able to get to work.  Yet as you can tell there are probably other issues I need to take care of as well.
    Please point me in any direction(s) that will help, am open to all suggestions, would just like to get a working email form done in flex so I can finish the client's site.  Thank you.

    i guess it depends on your needs but these days i'd just go
    w/flex. plenty of
    resources for that.

  • CF Flash Forms/CAPTCHA

    I am working on using a flash form for a contact form and in

    I have tried using the cfimage tag within my form and it

  • Flash Form Limitations

    Hi,
    I'm trying to develop a large number of input in a single
    flash form, the input is a finalcial survey I desinged it into
    different tabs, now I'm in the middle of the survey, when I try to
    add new inputs the form doesn't execute!
    Is there a limitation for the capacity of a flash form?
    The design below is half the details I needed
    http://www.dreamconsultancy.net/proj/chilli/
    Thank you,

    quote:
    Actually I got no error messages
    It's likely that you haven't turned on the Flash Form
    debugging in the Administrator. Check Flash Form Compile Errors and
    Messages and then give the form another shot. There are 64k and 32k
    branch limits which you may hit (you can google the error messages
    for a little more information).
    I've typically refactored by reducing the number of styles in
    the resulting flash output or by reducing the "nestedness" of
    elements inside elements. Of course, switching to Flex provided a
    more permanent solution:)

  • I Need Dire Help Making a Flash Form

    Hello, I need some serious help creating a Flash Form.
    I Have used a template from another site with the following
    input boxes:
    Name: __________
    Email: __________
    Comments: ____________
    However, i had the script working fine, along with its php
    script,
    when i was trying to add more "text" boxes, i must have
    messed the script up somhow.
    When I submit that form, the name is send and email, but the
    email is blank.. ie, there is no "comments"
    here is the code:
    on submit button:
    on (release) {
    // send variables in form movieclip (the textfields)
    // to email PHP page which will send the mail
    form.loadVariables("email.php", "POST");
    sent email messege
    onClipEvent(data){
    // show welcome screen
    _root.nextFrame();
    and the php script (mailer.php)
    php form email.pho
    <?php
    * PHP 4.1.0+ version of email script. For more
    * information on the mail() function for PHP, see
    http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mail.php
    // First, set up some variables to serve you in
    // getting an email. This includes the email this is
    // sent to (yours) and what the subject of this email
    // should be. It's a good idea to choose your own
    // subject instead of allowing the user to. This will
    // help prevent spam filters from snatching this email
    // out from under your nose when something unusual is put.
    $sendTo = "[email protected]";
    $subject = "My Flash site reply";
    // variables are sent to this PHP page through
    // the POST method. $_POST is a global associative array
    // of variables passed through this method. From that, we
    // can get the values sent to this page from Flash and
    // assign them to appropriate variables which can be used
    // in the PHP mail() function.
    // header information not including sendTo and Subject
    // these all go in one variable. First, include From:
    $headers = "From: " . $_POST["firstName"] ." ".
    $_POST["lastname"] . "<" . $_POST["email"] .">\r\n";
    // next include a replyto
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    // often email servers won't allow emails to be sent to
    // domains other than their own. The return path here will
    // often lift that restriction so, for instance, you could
    send
    // email to a hotmail account. (hosting provider settings may
    vary)
    // technically bounced email is supposed to go to the
    return-path email
    $headers .= "Return-path: " . $_POST["email"];
    // now we can add the content of the message to a body
    variable
    $message = $_POST["message"];
    // once the variables have been defined, they can be included
    // in the mail function call which will send you an email
    mail($sendTo, $subject, $message, $headers);
    ?>
    If anyone can see why the "comments" section is not being
    sent?
    Also: My original problem was how do you add more text boxes.
    I want something like this:
    Name:
    Address:
    Phone:
    Mobile:
    Email:
    Website:
    Comments:
    Ive spent days and days trying to work out how to first make
    a form that actually works, then add more text fields
    Ive looked at many basic form tutorials, but they all seem to
    only have 3 or 4 text fields.. Name, Email, Comments... etc
    I haven't a clue how to edit the script both in action script
    and php to add more fields easy.
    I really need some help with this, its turning into a
    nightmare for me.
    I can provide someone with my .fla project file if they care
    to take a look at what im doing wrong.
    Thanks
    Pan
    ps. Please note: "$sendTo = "[email protected]";" =
    this line i know i must put in my own email.

    This is all about timelines. It seems there is a movieclip
    named 'form' (or possibly an actionscript object, can't tell). Any
    variables created on that timeline are sent.
    So you could have your new textfields on another timeline.
    Or you could have textfields with no instance name in the
    form timeline.
    Those are the first two things to look at. Post the FLA and
    we can tell you more specifically.

  • Flash form error, can't use the same name more than once? need workaround

    I've always written my forms to have multiple buttons, one
    for updating and one for deleting. so in html I would do this:
    <input type=submit name=action value=Update>
    <input type=submit name=action value=Delete>
    so I'm trying the same thing with flash forms in cold fusion:
    <cfinput label="Update" name="action" type="submit"
    value="Update">
    <cfinput label="Delete" name="action" type="submit"
    value="Delete">
    but now I get this message:
    2 Errors found.
    Error /index.cfm:334
    id 'action' was already defined on line 333
    Error /index.cfm:335
    id 'action' was already defined on line 333
    Is there a way to make this work or do I have to either
    create a special action_delete or a new form? I'd like to keep the
    logic the way I like.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    John

    I was hoping to do logic like this
    <cfparam name="action" default="list">
    <cfif action equal "list">
    <cfelseif action equal "update">
    <cfelseif action equal "detail">
    <cfelseif action equal "delete">
    </cfif>
    So I just converted everything to html and things work the
    way I like. thanks anyway. The forms don't really buy me anything.

  • Flash forms -- Not displaying in IE

    This is my first foray into flash forms, and I discovered
    yesterday that while they look/work beautifully in Firefox
    (2.0.0.4), they're not displaying at all in IE (6 or 7).
    I'm using it to force the user to input their date in a
    uniform format, so I'm sure there's a non-flash workaround. I'd
    like to get this sorted out though, so my future work with flash
    can be more involved.
    Code is attached. Please let me know if I can provide further
    clarification.

    Michael --
    Thanks for your help.
    I think I've narrowed the problem down -- it's not that it
    won't display my flash form in IE, it's that it won't display it in
    a Fusebox environment. I'm going to poke over at their site to see
    what they have to say -- I suspect I'll need to upgrade the version
    of Fusebox that I'm using. :)

  • How to validate date fields in the flash form

    i want to validate the date fields to make sure the values
    are not greater than today's date and from-date is less than or
    equal to to-date in the flash form. Does the actionscript have a CF
    DateDiff function for the validatation?
    Thanks

    I finally (after much reading up on actionscript) figured out
    my problem with date validation...which was similar to yours...
    I posted the solution I found for my AS date validation issue
    here:

  • Is this a bug in Flash Player or Flex?

    Compile and run this code (it is generated when you select New MXML Application) with FlashBuilder4.5:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
          xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
          xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600">
    <fx:Declarations>
      <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
    </fx:Declarations>
    </s:Application>
    If you are using IE, you will see a blue player control panel. But there should be nothing displayed because there is no
    visual components in the code above.
    If you are using FireFox, there is nothing displayed.
    Same behaves for mx:Application.
    I think it is a bug with Flash Player or Flex. How can Flex behave differently with different browsers?

    This is what I see in IE 9.0.8112.16421, but not in FF.

  • Flash forms in Safari 3.0

    I just installed the new Apple Safari 3.0 for Windows. I
    wanted to see how our web site would work with the new browser. I
    found that flash forms do not load. All I get is a blue lego block
    with question marks. I checked the plugins and there is a listing
    for "Shockwave Flash" version 9.0 r45. Is there something else that
    needs to be installed to make this work?
    Thanks,
    Don

    Count me on with the problem. We are running CF 7. I have
    also not found anything. I did report it using the little bug in
    Safari 3 and have been looking for the latest releases of the
    browser. I love the browser overall (I am an apple fan) but we need
    this to work. I am wondering if the problem is in how CF renders
    and puts out the flash content. Some kind of meta data that is not
    up to date? Have no clue however.

  • Flash Forms do not work in Production

    My question is simple. I am unable to find server
    requirements for Flash forms anywhere on Adobe's website. It claims
    you can find more in the other technical documentation but I
    couldn't. What technologies need to be installed in order to
    utilize flash forms SERVER-WISE?
    I have a production server, a pre-production server (running
    full cfmx7), and a development server. The application works on the
    test machine, and on pre-production. The flash form simply does not
    render and no errors are displayed.
    If I convert it to a normal cfform it displays fine on the
    troubled machine. It will not display even the most simple of flash
    forms.
    Thanks for any help!

    Did you make sure that you have a virtual directory mapped to
    the CFIDE directory in IIS on your production server?
