CF8 on Apache: server monitor's flex2gateway 500 error

The basic problem has been fairly well documented elsewhere, but this is it in a nutshell:
When you attempt to bring up the server monitor (a Flex app) in CF 8, the monitor can fail to let you in, and instead display a 'Coldfusion Server is Unavailable' message. On the backend, I see this:
2011-06-13 17:58:55,051 ERROR [org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[jboss.web].[localhost].[/].[MessageBrokerServlet ]] Servlet.service() for servlet MessageBrokerServlet threw exception
flex.messaging.MessageException: No configured channel has an endpoint path '/flex2gateway/cfamfsecure/index.cfm'.
I've seen documentation on how to fix this in IIS and JRun, but we're using Apache 2.2 and JBoss.
Been scouring the Interwebs for a solution, but it's eluded me.
Can anyone help? Thanks much in advance.
Steve

Looks as though one solution is to bypass Apache by hitting CF Admin via the JBoss port that it's running on. As that's working for me, I'll mark this question as answered! :-)

  • Server monitor reporting a memory error

Every 10 mins or so, Server monitor flashes a red dot on Memory Slot 2 (dot number 3 on the status screen) on our Intel XServe. There is an Apple supplied 1024MB (1 gig) chip in there, ECC DDR2 FB-DIMM
    It reports...
    ECC Error # 1
It flashes for about 10 mins or so and then goes back to green.
Any idea what this is? Is it a dodgy chip that I need to replace or is it the EEC doing it's thing and correcting a memory error?

Any idea what this is? Is it a dodgy chip that I need to replace or is it the EEC doing it's thing and correcting a memory error?
    Both.
The upshot is that the DIMM is having problems, however, the problems are within the ECC's ability to correct, so it's not impacting the server's performance.
It's not uncommon to find a few ECC errors over time, but if the number of errors is increasing every 10 minutes or so (as opposed to just staying the same) then it indicates enough of a problem that I'd look to replace the DIMM ASAP.

  • Relay Server with a Http 500 error (SUP 2.2)

    Hello experts,
The history is the following, after upgrading my unwired server from SUP 2.2 SP 02 to SP 05 the aplication stopped working.
We could get Register, but we could but not synchronize.
We connected the device directly to SUP and it worked we could register and synchronize but. when connected to Relay Server only register is possible.
at the moment our only hint is the Http Error 500 that is appearing in the relayserver log. What could be causing the internar error?.

  • Server Monitoring issue

I have a clean installation of CFMX 9.01 J2EE version.  In the Admin tool when I click on Monitoring Settings I get this error:
    Variable ERROR_SETTINGS is undefined.
Then when I click on Server Monitor I get this error:
The isMonitoringServerEnabled method was not found.
Any ideas why?  Everthing else appears to work fine..

ok I have fixed this.. Turns out I did not apply the 901 update.. Now cf monitoring works.

  • No Enterprise Manager - 500 error

I have installed CF9 Enterprise (32bit install) on a Windows 2008 Server SP2, 32 bit server (two of them, in fact), with Web Server / IIS role installed. Installed Role Services of  Application Development (ASP.NET, ASP, CGI, ISAPI extensions/filters, SSI's) role installed . Then installed the 9.01 patch, ran the CF "Web Server Configuration Tool" for all sites (there is only the Default Web site installed). Did not install the IIS6 management extensions (since the Web Server Configuration Tool doesn't like that to be installed.
I was able to get to the Cold Fusion administrator (at http://localhost/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm ) page, and login successfully. The System Information page shows ColdFusion Enterprise version  9,0,1,274733  , with the OS of Windows Server 2008 R2 (OS Version 6.1), Adobe Driver version 4.0 (Build 0005).
This CD Administrator page does not show the Enterprise Manager menu choice on the left side. If I use an address of http://localhost/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm (after verifying those files are in the 'entman' folder), I get an HTTP Error 500.0 page. Sometimes that page will be inside the CF Adminstrator page frame, but still the 500.0 errorr. The files are in the 'physical path' as F:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE\administrator\entman\index.cfm .
Have done massive searches on the Adobe forums here, and via other search engines, and have not found the solution. Have tried seting the Application Pool Defaults to "enable 32-bit applications' to 'true' or 'false', either setting still gets the 500.0 error on the 'entman' page.
All settings on the server are set to default values. I have done a full uninstall, reinstall of CF; a full rebuild of the server, but still the 500 error.
The "Adobe ColdFusion Server Manager" application works OK; I have installed the latest version of Adobe Air.
Am extremely puzzled as to why the Enterprise Managr cannot be run. (And a bit frustrated also.)
    Ideas?
    Thanks...Rick..

Rick, before you reinstall, you can probably correct things. It just seems you've gotten yourself into a bit of a bind. I hope the following can help you recover if you want to, or at least help you (or other readers) understand things better.
To your first point, what happens if you just go to the main page (not the entman subdirectory)? What do you see in the top left of the left navbar? It should say "Server: cfusion" if you are indeed seeing the cfusion instance (where the Enterprise Manager is found). If you see another server name there, you're viewing the CF Admin for THAT instance, not the cfusion one. And if you see no mention of a "Server:" (above the "expand all" phrase), then you are NOT viewing the CFAdmin of a multiserver instance but rather of either an Enterprise Server, or Standard, or Development deployment of CF.
It's easy for that to happen, depending on how you configure the web server (whether manually, or during installation of CF, or using the web server configuration tool). Since you're using no port in your first example, that's using port 80 which is typically responded to by an external web server (like IIS or Apache). Since you say you're using IIS, you can look at properties for the site (whatever is responding to localhost, in your case) to see how its configured to hand CFM files to CF. (Since you're on IIS 7.5, select "handler mappings" in the "content view" while selecting the site, then look for the mapping for path "*.cfm". Double click the mapping to see the value for its "executable". That indicates the directory where CF lives that it's passing requests to.)
As for your second examples, those are using the ports typically associated with the internal web server (as opposed to the external ones like IIS or Apache), which can be enabled optionally either during CF installation or afterward by changing a config file (or automatically for newly created multiserver instances). To be clear, 8300 is the typical port for the built-in web server for the cfusion instance, and 8500 is the typical port for Server/Standard deployments. The actual numbers for any given CF deployment can change, if the port is already in use at installation, or if someone picks a different one when configuring things manually.
To your point 3, I don't think anyone was saying that you had a "JRun4 folder in the E:\ColdFusion9 folder". Rather, the point being made was that there are two primary places where CF is installed, depending on the deployment option chosen. For CF Standard or Enterprise/Developer Server deployments, it's put into the \ColdFusion9 directory (for cf9). For Enterprise/Developer Multiserver deployments, it's put into \JRun4.
The fact that you have both (it seems, from your earlier note) indicates that you have implemented both kinds of deployments (to your point 5, also). That's perfectly acceptable to do. But it can cause the kind of confusion you're seeing. It may be that IIS has been configured to pass requests (for localhost) to the CF Standard/Server deployment, not your Multiserver cfusion instance. Running the web server config tool (from the multiserver deployment) and configuring it to pass the site to that cfusion instance would solve that.
Then again, you may instead want to pass the site to some new instance. You could configure it to do that instead, but then you do need a way to get to that cfusion instance. That is why Isaac suggested that the 8300 port might work. That would be the typical way to access the cfusion instance. You can look at the instance's jrun configuration file (C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\SERVER-INF\jrun.xml) to see both whether the built-in web server is enabled and what its port is. Look for the entry:
Whatever value that is, try using that. If you change either, you need to restart the instance for them to take effect (and beware that if you make any error, the instance may not start. See the /jrun/logs directory for more information.)
As for your 4th point, it is interesting that you see the entman directory. But I just looked at a CF9 Standard deployment I have, and the directory is indeed there. We might assume it's only put there for Enterprise Multiserver deployments, but maybe not. Someone else can confirm if they see it, too. Anyway, when I try to visit it (with my Standard deployment of CF), I don't get a 500 error, but I do get a blank page. Regardless, perhaps your problem is that your localhost site is configured to pass cfm page requests to something other than a cfusion instance. That would likely be the only one where CF would respond to a request for the Enterprise Manager.
Hope some of that helps. But yes, if you removed everything and started over, I'd expect all would work as well. If you have any reason to keep what seems to be more than one deployment of CF (as some do), then I hope the info above explains both how to do it and how it can get a little crossed up.

  • CF8 Server Monitor over secure connection?

    Hi,
Has anyone out there been able to get the CF8 Server Monitor
to work over a secure "HTTPS" connection?
It doesn't work for me. I get an error message, "ColdFusion

    Thanks.

Yes, Server monitor works on https also.
Are you able to access your CF admin through the https?

  • CF8 Flash forms nor server monitor not working on authenticated server

Have bee troubleshooting an issue with the server monitor and
flash forms not working on a CF8 server that is completely
authenticated. You can see the full thread of the issue here
    http://groups.google.com/group/houcfug/browse_thread/thread/71160184e762587f?hl=en
In the pre-cf8 days, we had implemented the following "fix"
for NT Authentication with CF Templates
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_18516
However, when I uncheck the "Check that file exists" flag in
IIS6, both the server monitor and the CFFORM type = flash are now
both working. Am I making a tradeoff between NT security and
    Flash/Flex?
My question is this, is the "fix" referenced in the KB
article abonve still needed for CF8?
If so, do I have to decide between security and Flash/Flex or
is there a way to have both NT security and flash/flex on the
    server?
If not, I would suggest that somebody from Adobe make an edit
to the KB article pointing out that the "Fix" is not needed for CF8
and if implemented will break the server monitor and flash forms
and Flex on that CF server.
    Thanks,
    M

I mean when I open the administrator and click on Launch
Server Monitor it does nothing. Does not open and as far as I can
tell no error is generated or logged. If I open it outside of the
the administrator it opens but when I click on Statistics or Alerts
I get a logon Server Monitor logon box that tells me that the
    ColdFusion Server is not started.

  • What is a "logged in user" on the "Active Sessions" report in CF8 Server Monitor?

I was looking at the Active Sessions Report (The Chart View) and saw I have more "logged in users" than "active sessions".
I had expected them to be nearly the same.    It's on our Intranet where I log users in (using cflogin and cfloginuser) at the begining of their session and users should be logged when the session ends.
I couldn't find a detailed explaination of what a "logged in user" means.   There is a chance that the same user is logged into a nested application as well as the Intranet, but I don't think that is what I'm seeing.
I also don't see a way to get a list of what CF is counting as a logged in user.  I can only see a way to get the total count.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thank you Michael for the reply, but I don't think that is the issue.
When a user opens their browser on the intranet, a session begins and they are logged in (using the cflogin and cfloginuser).    If they close their browser, the session should hang around for 20 min. (per the server setting).   I am assuming this is still considered an "Active Session" since I can see this behavior in the report.
At first, the Active Sessions and Logged In Users are exactly the same.   When the sessions start to time out, the active sessions are reduced,  but the Logged In Users remain the same.    Then,  after a while, they start to move together.  So I have more Logged In Users than Active Sessions.
I left the Server Monitor open last night and for most of the night, I had 0 sessions, but 57  "logged in users".   This morning, as people opened their browsers, the Active Sessions and Logged In Users moved together.   The gap of 57 looks consistent.
It looks like people are remaining logged in after their session ended.
I am really looking for a detailed explaination of "active session" and/or "logged in user" as used in the server monitor.  It would be really nice to find a way to list the details about each item counted in the "logged in user" and not just the total count.
    Thanks Again for your reply.

  • CF8 cfthread, server monitor, and active threads

    When I run this code:
    cfthread
part III or any cfthread without a thread join and then go to
the CF Administrator -> Server Monitor -> Statistics ->
Active ColdFusion Threads, I don't see the threads ever going away.
They just build and build everytime I run it. I can get it to
go all the way up to 400+ threads and stay there untill I restart
Jrun. I think this is a monitor issue because I'd hate to think
those threads are tied up and still active.
    Thoughts?

    Neo,
I have noticed the same thing. Now for the odd part. If you
click the 'start monitoring' button and then run your thread test,
the threads don't appear in the Active Coldfusion Thread report!
When running our application, I noticed the Coldfusion thread
count getting up to 80,000+ threads in the span of a couple of
hours. If we can't figure out what is causing this, we are going to
    downgrade back to CF7

  • HTTP 500 error when opening "App Server Control" (EM) in OAS 10.1.3.5.0

    Hi,
I have some (but not much) experience with OAS and am currently stuck. So hope to find someone who can help me further here.
When i open Oracle Application Server Control from the SOA Suite 10.1.3.5.0 home page i get most of the times an HTTP 500 error.
Initially i got this even when i opened the login page (/em) but worked around this by increasing the ThreadsPerChild from 100 > 250 in the httpd.conf and replacing the loopback adres 127.0.0.1 in the dms.conf for the virtual host configuration to the actual (fixed) ip-address.
The current situation is that when i restart the environment (opmn stopall & opmn startall) i can open the the EM login page.
After logging in om the Enterprise Manager, the page is partly loaded and a HTTP 500 error is shown when i refresh the page.
    The apache log files now still shows the following errors;
[Tue Sep 07 15:46:19 2010] [error] [client 10.157.1.68] [ecid: 1283867060:10.150.50.110:10312:9568:5,0] mod_oc4j: Failed to find a failover oc4j process for session request for destination: application://ascontrol (no island or jgroup).

    Any hints ?
    Kind regards,
    Peter

    If finally found the cause of the problem, lack of PermGen space for the home instance;
When opening the EM Console most of the times i was able to open the login page, under stress opening this page failed most of the times.
    The ascontrol-application.log pointed me in the right direction;
    10/09/07 15:26:59.111 ascontrol: Servlet error
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
When monitoring the PermGen of the home instance, is showed that the system was running out of PermGen space.
Increasing the PermGen size for the home instance in opmn.xml did the trick
    <data id="java-options" value="-Xrs -server -XX:MaxPermSize=128M......"

I'm tearing my hair out now, been trying to fix this problem for over a week.

Having a furious problem with this CF8 install and image functions, most image functions [imagepaste(), etc] will throw a 500 error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class javax.media.jai.JAI
other functions will not, it seems that functions that have to actually manipulate or change the image in some way fail with a 500 error, images that return information about an image run fine.
the server is a centos DV at mediatemple, CF has been patched with the cumulative HF4, & the image function hotfix. Still got errors. I've tried updating to jdk 1.6.0_24, downgrading as well! I've even tried placing new jai_*.jar jar files in the class path.
It was working fine for 2+ years, then just one day stopped working, no updates were performed before it died, nothing.
I've been wrestling with this problem for about 3 weeks now. More info at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6270271/coldfusion-imagepaste-500-error
Has anyone got ANY ideas, this is a production server & can't exactly be reinstalled.
    -thanks

  • Apache server + mod_python - Error 403

    Hi.
I'm totally new in Apache server. As topic says, I have problems with permissions to my server directory. Here's my httpd.conf file:
    # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
    # In particular, see
    # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
    # for a discussion of each configuration directive.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/access_log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"
    # will be interpreted as '/logs/access_log'.
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
    # ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the
    # Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used. If you wish to share the
    # same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at
    # least PidFile.
    ServerRoot "/etc/httpd/"
    # Mutex: Allows you to set the mutex mechanism and mutex file directory
    # for individual mutexes, or change the global defaults
    # Uncomment and change the directory if mutexes are file-based and the default
    # mutex file directory is not on a local disk or is not appropriate for some
    # other reason.
    # Mutex default:/run/httpd
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    # Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
    # prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    Listen 80
    # Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
    # To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you

  • Cannot run PHP in apache server.

I am havnig a hard time seting up PHP development enviornment. I have followed instructions from this page : Apache HTTP Server
http://localhost works, but cannot display .php pages.
I have installed  php and php-apache from the official repositories.
Placed the LoadModule list after LoadModule dir_module modules/mod_dir.so:
    LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so
Placed this at the end of the Include list:
    Include conf/extra/php5_module.conf
    <?php phpinfo(); ?>
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('
    output of: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
    ServerRoot "/etc/httpd"
    Listen 127.0.0.1:80
