CFDocument CF8 super slow~unless I remove dynamic image

Upgraded from CF7 to CF8.01 and all the hotfixes. Since the
upgrade, dynamic .pdfs are super slow. I commented out an image,
and now it loads faster. What changed in CF8.01 to cause problems
with including dynamic images in .pdfs? How do I get around this
and still use images? Here's my code..
<img src="file://///xxxDocServer/HiRes
Photos#Biography.File_Path#" width="119" height="153" />
I'm open to trying anything to speed this up.. Just don't
want to have to rollback to CF7.

Make sure your image is in sRGB colorspace.

    Remove Clean My Mac: http://macpaw.com/support/cleanmymac/knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac-2
If you are not using TeamViewer, remove it also. If you had it running while you ran Etrecheck, then it doesn't need to be removed.

  • All of a sudden SUPER SLOW!!!  Why?

For no apparent reason my Powerbook G4 1.5ghz with 1.5gb RAM just started doing EVERYTHING super slow. Annoyingly slow. Clicking on the bookmarks menu in Safari took 10 seconds for the color wheel to stop spinning and to display the small to medium sized list of book marks. I just restarted and zapped the PRAM and tried to log in, and typing in my password took at least 5 seconds to acknowledge that I had even typed in the first 2 characters of my password.
    WHAT IS GOING ON?
I zapped the PRAM, did a disk utility verify and it was good. I checked the activity monitor and nothing out of the ordinary...
The only thing I've done differently is downloaded and installed Google Earth, which, if that is the source, I'd gladly remove it. Is there a way to uninstall a program so there are no lingering files?
I have the higher RPM drive, 80gb and it's 1.5gb away from full, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Please help... This $2600 computer is far too young to be replaced.
    Scott

    Hi Scott --
Sorry to hear about that. Seems from a MacFixIt article linked to on Applejack's home page (written byu Dan FDrakes) that Applejack is a pretty powerful program, that has both serious pros and cons: http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=2005041817191411
I found a MacFixIt discussion thread that appears to outline the steps needed to delete Applejack from one's computer -- they reference the readme that accompanies Applejack.
Of course, these steps may not be of use to you can't start your machine properly. ;-(
Maybe you could try starting your machine in Safe Mode: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392 ; http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393 Then, perhaps you'd be able to delete Applejack and restart your machine properly.
All of which, if successful, will bring you back to where you started, which (imo) is when you need to begin freeing up some hard drive space.
Well, hopefully Apple's phone support will help you recover your system. I would, of course, try all of their suggestions first.
Please post back how everything turns out.
    Good luck.

  • Computer running super slow

I have a black 13" MacBook that recently started running super slow. It loads slow. The mouse moves normally, but when I click on anything it can take two minutes before anything happens. It runs slow when I boot it in safe mode. I tried running some utilities from the os disks and they didn't find any problems. I don't know what is wrong with it, or how to help it. Thanks for your help.

A new user account does nothing to help. It is still super slow
    Gotcha.
So you have a systemwide issue then (not just a single account).
Did this start happening after you installed some new software or maybe an Apple Software update?
Did you add any new hardware to the computer like RAM or an hard drive?
Are you running any Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the computer (doesn't come with the Mac so it would have had to been installed by you after the fact)?
_Turn off your Airport by going to the airport menu and choosing Turn Airport off.
_Unplug all external devices besides the power cable.
_Restart the computer. -- Any change?
    If not:
_SafeBoot the system and while in SafeBoot remove the Macintosh HD > Library > Caches folder to the trash.
_Remove any items in Macintosh HD > Library > StartUp Items
    _Reset the PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    _Any change?
If the issue persists at this point I would backup your data and reinstall the Mac OS (with 10.6 this does not erase the computer, it just puts the OS back on the computer):
_Insert your Mac OS X 10.6 installation disc
    _Shut down your Mac.
_Start up your Mac while holding the C key to start from the disc and follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall.

  • IPhone is super slow

My Iphone 4 is super slow and the camera will not work, says that there is no storage! I have deleted all the apps off my phone and taken all the pictures off! I have even reset everything, How do I fix this?

Try resetting your phone. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
As for the virus issue, there is absolutely no malware of any kind for iOS devices, unless they have been jailbroken. If you have jailbroken your phone (which would be a deliberate action on your part, you can't do it accidentally), there are a couple rare malware programs that you could be infected with, but I certainly would not consider that to be a remotely likely cause for your problems.

  • MacBook 2010 web browsing super slow!!?? Wireless Internet.

I purchased my MacBook in May, and at first everything worked fine, but lately the web browsing has been super slow with the page taking forever to load or just not loading whatsoever. The connection signal is strong and the internet is working fine as my computer downloads files at a good speed. I have an old PC laptop that the web browsing works fine on from the same connection so the problem must lie with my macbook. any ideas?

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions,
You didn't mention which browser you are using so I assuming it's Safari...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Web pages include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. *These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down.* It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
Check for duplicate or corrupted fonts, instructions here. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10389716-263.html?tag=mncol;title
Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps there. And go to /Library/Startup Items. Remove any files or apps there.
Quit Safari if it's open for this.
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Safari speeds up loading web pages, them move the .plist file to the Trash.

  • Itunes freezes, runs super slow

I had been away for some time, so had missed several updates. Therefore I don't know at what point some of these issues might have arose, all I know is that they are all here now.
I recently updated Itunes to 12.0.1.26 and I am absolutely miserable with it!!
It's bad enough that they've removed the tools I always used for navigating (and call this progress??!!).
But now everything is running super slow, and nearly every action I attempt to take, whether it be to simply listen to a podcast, refresh, switch from podcasts to music, delete an episode, go from the store back to podcasts or music, etc., causes everything to freeze, and sometimes it stays frozen for well over a minute.
If I listen to a podcast on the PC, which I often do while working, everything else I do on the PC, be it open a file, go to on the internet, etc., causes the playback of the podcast to distort or start skipping.
Also, it used to be that episodes that did not download (usually because I was unavailable to refresh for a day or two) would still show up in my list of subscribed podcasts. This is now gone.
Also, it used to be that if you had certain episodes of a podcast but did not subscribe to it, you could right click that podcast and click on a link that offered you the ability to see all available episodes. This too is now gone. WHY????????
I haven't even tried yet to sync my ipod, am afraid of what damage it might do.
Is this normal? Can I get rid of it somehow and go back to version 10 or 11 something wherever I used to be? I created a system restore point before updating Itunes, am tempted...
    Please can someone offer help?

I have huge issues with my ipod classic since the itunes 12 upgrade. The first time I synch'd it, it went very wrong and got an unknown error. I tried many tips from fellow users, yet nothing worked. And all my music was gone from the ipod. After hours trying to sort it out on my own, I decided to reformat it on my PC laptop to see if my ipod sofware was up to date. It was but the good news is my ipod was resurrected from its vegetative state. I can now sync on my mac mini. Alas, the new problem is now with the ipod which has become very slow to respond. It was working like a charm before itunes 12. I would like to downgrade Itunes but I have not succeeded so far.  I only found 10.6.2 (i think) but then I get error messages. What a nuisance. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

  • Super slow computer and doesn't shut down

    Hi all,
I think it is only fair to come and share with you an issue I had with my 2011 Mac Pro runing on Lion 10.7.3. The computer is just a few months old. For a month or so I started experiencing a SUPER slow computer. To illustrate, it would slow down suddently and would take 10 minutes to give me the About this Mac info. After hard shutdown it would get normal again for a few hours. This happen usually while using Google Docs, and after trouble shooting and not getting anywhere... reseting power management (SMC), etc... Just to test I de-activated the Kaspersky Anti-Virus software for Mac, thinking that it may have been the cause while working on Google Docs... and it work!
One problem solve... but I run into another one. The computer would freeze after shuting down, and the screen would be gray with the little turning wheel... Every day from there I had to do the hard shutdown... not healthy for the computer of course... After re-installing the operating system, going back and forth with Apple Care Specialist (very helpful and nice people), and spending hours figuring the problem out... I decided to un-install completely the Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac, but downloading the 'free' version and using the un-installer from the package... After this my computer shuts down everytime and goes to sleep normally. This saved me from formatting the HD and doing a clean installation of Lion - which was my next step if things didn't work according to Mac support.
I still have the Kaspersky for the parallels side of the computer and that doesn't seem to be an issue. I hope this saves some people the trouble, the frustration and the MANY hours of trying to figure it what's wrong with the computer.
I have read many blogs, and articles and none of them pointed at Kaspersky... I found issues with Parallels, Office for Mac, etc but I guess after the last Lion update thing went south with the anti virus software... and of course my computer! Now we're all happy again!

Something is causing it to not shut down, more than likely some process that refuses to quit. Do all of your applications quit when you shut down or do you have to force quit any of them? You also should look in your console messages and see if perhaps there is a clue there.
When you ran Disk Utility did you get the message that the "drive appears to be o.k." or did you get some other message?
Do you have problems with freezing in general or just when you are installing applications? When you say freezes do you mean you get the spinning beachball or does it freeze and you can't do anything including moving the cursor?
Do you use a lot of widgets in Dashboard? Sometimes they will cause problems. If you have loaded any of them recently you might try removing them and see if that helps with the shutdown issue.

  • Super Slow Connection speed

Hi all, with any luck someone here will be able to offer some wisdom!
Until recently my broadband has been faultless (well not bad anyway), in the last week or so it seems to have nosedived in terms of performance, and I am struggling to work out why. I have been through India, and I have my modem plugged into the test port of the master socket, here is wat things look like in the Hub Manager:
    Line state
    Connected
    Connection time
    0 days, 0:53:56
    Downstream
    8,126 Kbps

    Line attenuation (Down/Up)
    10.0 dB / 4.2 dB
    Output power (Down/Up)
    0.0 dBm / 12.0 dBm
    Loss of Framing (Local)

The three errors are me pulling the cable out to rest the conenction. The massive FEC / CRC errors are a bug I think. Does anyone know about Loss of Framing and what 0dBm output power are?
I ran the BT speedtest and got some truly terrible results, which said that my profile was 7000kbps, good, and my download was 146kbps, bad.
Anyone know what might be causing my super slow connection? I disconnected all computers barring my laptop in case somethign was secretly thrashing the service, but it didnt help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark.

I have similar problems. My connection was fine until about a week ago, when I started getting noise on my phone.
This has now been fixed, but since then, my Broadband connection speed has dropped from around 2M to 135k. I had an engineer out this morning to check what had been fixed during the first engineer visit (to fix the phone) and once he'd finished, he tested in to the socket to find that he could get 7M speeds. However, since he's been gone, I've plugged my setup back in and still get speeds of 135k.
I've tried removing phone connection so only router plugged in, I've changed filter to see if that was the issue - only things I've not yet tried because they are more hassle first off is trying another ADSL cable and/or a new router
My Hub manager shows the following, but not sure if this helpful to anyone, or if anyone can point me in the right direction of other things to try, I'd be greatly appreciative.
    Thanks

  • HT1338 my computer is running super slow.  what can i do

    super slow imac. solutions?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite. Super slow and ReportCrash constantly running...

I upgraded to Yosemite the other day and my iMac (2011) is running super slow. I've done the whole PRAM reset, the SMC reset, the boot into Safe Mode, the Repair Disk and Permission from Recovery Mode, turned off File Vault and Transparency, etc. and it's still pretty slow. But I did notice in both Activity Monitor and Console that ReportCrash is constantly running. It didn't run in Safe Mode, but even in Safe Mode the computer was equally slow, especially with Safari. I'll paste some of the Console logs below in case someone can tell me what's going on. My other question is: should I do a clean install or just roll back to Mavericks, since the features I wanted (Handoff and SMS Messages) don't even work with Yosemite on my iMac. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

  • Lion is super slow! Should I reinstall?

    Hi,
I have a 13” MacBook Pro that has a 2.7GHz i7 processor and 4GB of RAM. I bought this June at it came pre-installed with OS X Snow Leopard. In July, I upgraded to Lion and initially, my computer just had the spinning beach ball a lot more, but a day or two later, my computer seemed like it was running as normal (I’m assuming this was due to Spotlight indexing everything).
However, of late I’ve noticed my computer is SUPER slow! I first noticed the lag in processing speed when it took five minutes to transfer 1GB to a USB flash drive. (I then transferred the files to a Windows PC and back onto the same flash drive and the entire process occurred in under a minute). It takes over two minutes to start up and anywhere between ten seconds to a minute to open a regular application (i.e. iTunes, iPhoto, Firefox, etc). And my laptop heats up a lot faster these days too!
I’ve looked around the discussion forum and tried all the suggested solutions i.e. resetting the PRAM and the SMC, verifying and repairing the disk/permissions (including the one where you have to go through the recovery partition). But nothing has helped. If anything, it's getting worse! Every time I open disk utility now it says it’ll take 4 hours to verify the disk permissions! AHHH. And it’s not like my laptop is filled with useless files, either; my hard drive capacity is 500GB and it still has 372.7GB available. Oh, and I don’t have a virus either because I’ve run the Sophos anti-virus scan three times.
Normally, I’d have taken my laptop to the Apple Store and asked them to figure it out, but I’m currently in the Philippines and they only have Apple Resellers and fake Apple Stores here. I realise it sounds ridiculous but I’m deathly afraid they are either going to kill my MBP altogether or steal my parts.
I was wondering should I completely re-install Lion? If so, how exactly would I go about doing that? I do have a Time Machine back-up of everything on my 1TB external drive, but I don’t have any back-ups prior to getting Lion because I purchased my external later. Also, if I were to re-install Lion and restore from my Time Machine back-up would all my applications still work? I have Microsoft Office 201, Adobe Pro, Photoshop, etc. and if they get uninstalled, I don’t have any of my installation CDs here!
I’d appreciate any help! If you have any ideas, comments, suggestions, anything – shoot me a response. Thank you!

Try to find out what is causing the loss of performance by starting the "Activity Monitor" (from Applications -> Utilities) and sort the processes according to real memory usage or CPU time by clicking at the column headers.
Also have a look at the free Disk space.
According to Apple the minimum hardware requirements for Lion are 2GB of RAM, but I found that not to be sufficient with the Applications I like to be running at the same time. For my workflow I needed 4 GB RAM when on SL, and with Lion I needed 8GB of RAM. The Activity monitor will tell you if you need to upgrade your RAM.
The second bottleneck with Lion is free disk space. Lion will run much more smoothly if you keep a least 10% (and a minimum of 20 GB) of your disk free.
If you find that you do need more RAM, but don't want to upgrade right now, look at the "Activity monitor" to find out which of your processes are fighting for memory and try to avoid running those together at the same time. I found that quite often Safari was eating the available memory and quitting Safari when I did not really need it did help a lot.
    Regards
    Léonie
P.S. There are quite a few threads in this forum discussing this. Search for "Lion slow"

I haven't shut it down in over a month. I shut it down yesterday for over 12 hours yet upon starting up again the slowness persists. Removed Google chrome application the speed arose slightly any tips? I contacted a support member but unfortunately my warranty has run out, he suggested that may be a result of putting the mac into sleep constantly, and not shutting down and that there may be files i can clear to remedy the issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Regards.

Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
