CFP-2220 USB access in Labview

I have a LabVIEW program (Labview 2012) running deployed on a CFP-2220 (Field Point version 6.0.11). The program creates a log file that is saved to a USB drive connected to the CFP. I was wondering if there was a way in Labview to access this file (say once a day) and transfer it to the computer the CFP is connected to while the program is running (as the program will be running continuously).
If it is easier, I could also write the file directly to the CFP's hard drive.

Hi,
You have a few options.
To access the files on the drive from Windows follow the instructions in this documentation: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6245C8EEB74984F786256BA40052D992?OpenDocument
If you want to run something on the cFP to transfer the files you will need to have a FTP server to connect to: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9a004cf5241f3cb68625779e004ee159?OpenDocument
An example of how to transfer the files automatically from the target can be found here: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-15379
If you want to transfer the files from a process on your host computer you can access the target from the same FTP information as in the first link above and use the FTP VI's to do it.
Hopefully this points you in the right direction!

  • Accessing a 3-axis USB joystick from LabVIEW

I am trying to access a 3-axis USB joystick from LabVIEW. I see that this issue has been posted before...has anyone come up with a solution?

Microsoft's DirectX, free via MSDN, is a set of development libraries for high performance games avilable in both a VB and C++ SDK. Input from USB joysticks is supported in the DirectInput portion of the SDK.
The ActiveX object for the VB flavor will NOT work with LV. It initially appears to work. You can make an activeX connection but the input device objects are created dynamically from device enumerations and LV requires objects to be defined at connection time.
However, if you are up to it, (I am severely C syntax challenged), you could probably use the LV call library node along with the C++ SDK to make the DLL calls.
If your budget allows, these guys:
    http://www.xon.de/reference/XOnMultimedia/_XmmJoy_VIs.html
sell a DirectX based LV multimedia
toolkit that appears to support Z-axis joysticks. Their website is a little messed up and the German description for the toolkit is coming up on the english side. This link is the english documentation for the toolkit. Maybe if you poke around you can get 100% english. If not you can contact Peter Prinzen [ [email protected] ]for further info. I think it was $45 USD about 4 months ago. Good Luck.

  • Can not see cFP-2220 after creating an exe file

I am using a cFP-2220 with LabView 2011. I can see the cFP-2220 with Max, the program I created runs in my PC but the data from the cFP-2220 it is slow to up date.
I access the cFP-2220 thru the network terminal and a net card in my PC.
I have created an EXE file to run in the PC for that test stand as a stand along program. The program runs but it does not see the cFP-2220 or any of the data been collected. The test stand PC does have MAX install. When I run MAX in the stand PC it sees the cFP-2220 and can read the data from the modules the PC is wire to the cFP-2220 thru a net card.

Sorry for the delay to respond... I do have installed the minimun files that are available  Field Piont 6.0.10 and LabView RT 11 is part of them.
I also using share variables. The program VI runs fine in my PC but when I create the exe file and deploy on the test stand it asks fot the location of the FPLV,dll and the NI_TGT.dll and it can not read or write to any of the DAQmx vi's.
I accidently remove one my FP-SG-140 from the list of inputs, I did put it back but I damage how the share variables weere working I am getting and error -1950679023 and it does not see any of my inputs.
I have another question how do I down load the variables to the cFP-2220 that is another erros that shows up when I installed other files into the cFP.

  • WebServer problem on cfp-2220

I've seen older posts on this, but not a solution.  I cannot get the web server to run on my cfp-2220.  I have set it up in the configuration, tried several ports, deployed and rebooted many times.  When I try to create the web service, no servers show up on the Servers page in the web service's properties (Error:  No Configured Servers Support Web Services).
    I have installed:
    LabVIEW 8.6.1
    Fieldpoint 6.0.5
    LabVIEW Real-Time 8.6.1
Runtime Engine for Web Services 1.0.0
    Windows XP SP2
Thanks in advance for your help.

Solved the problem by reinstalling the software on the cfp from a host that had Runtime Engine for Web Server 1.0.1.

  • CFP-2220 with LV7.1

I recently purchased a cFP-2220 controller. I am running LabVIEW 7.1, the controller shipped with Fieldpoint 6.0.1.
I had Fieldpoint 5.0.1 installed - it could not see the controller. So, I installed 6.0.1 - the controller was visible with an IP of 0.0.0.0, as normal and allowed me to configure the IP. However, now I don't have support for LabVIEW Realtime 7.1.
All of my code and tools are built in Realtime 7.1 and I don't want to be forced into switching to 8.x. Is there a way to get my controller to work with Realtime 7.1?
Note: I have not had this issue with the cFP-2120 controllers that I had been using.

Yes, Ravens Fan is right it is just technical impossible to support new RT operating systems for old LabVIEW development versions. The data sheet for the 22xx cFP controller clearly states that LabVIEW 8.5 or later is required.
You have two options from here. Talk to your sales representative to change to a 21xx series controller or upgrade to LV 8.6.

  • Does anyone know how to comunicate with a USB port using labview 6?

Does anyone know how to comunicate with a USB port using labview 6?

Unfortunately, there is no way to communicate directly with a USB port before LabVIEW 7.0 and VISA 3.0. With the new releases, there are functions called "VISA USB Control In" and "VISA USB Control Out" that give you direct access to a USB port.
You can definitely communicate with DAQ, Serial, or GPIB devices that are connected through a USB port, though. This is done seamlessly through the NI-DAQ, NI-Serial, and NI-488.2 drivers.

  • I have "hidden" my devices/USB access and now cannot figure out how to get them back on so I can re-access the USB files.  How do I do this?  (Is it just me, or should this be a reasonably simple task that shoul NOT require a post to the Apple community?)

Under "Devices," I have "hidden" my USB access and now cannot figure out how to re-access or "show" USB access again.  Very frustrated right now--this is a high-use feature for me and it should NOT be so buried somewhere that I cannot find it.  So much for Mac's "intuitive" interface.

Well, you have also "hidden" what version of OS X you are using from anyone who might want to help you.
You are probably using a newer version than I am, but I don't know that these things have changed.
In the Finder, from the Finder menu > Preferences …, there should be a Sidebar pane to choose what is visible.
Also in the Finder, Go menu > Computer (or type Shift Command C) will open a Finder window with any attached volumes showing.

  • How to create a table in MS Access from Labview using ActiveX?

I want to transfer datas from Labview to Access using activeX method. My only problem is to find out how to create a new table (array) in Access from the Labview program.
Remarks: I use Labview 6i and MS Access 2000.
For the moment I can write and read datas of Access from Labview.
If someone could help me... that would be grate!

This is off the Microsoft MSDN site "creating an external table". I think you can drop the last step.:
Open the database you want to create the table in. If it is the current database, use the CurrentDb function to return an object variable that represents the current database. If it isnt the current database, use the OpenDatabase method to open the database you want.
Use the CurrentDb function to create a Database object that points to the current database.
Use the CreateTableDef method of the Database object to create a table definition for the Microsoft Access table.
Use the CreateField method of the TableDef object to create one or more fields in the Microsoft Access table.
Use the Append method of the Fields collection to add the new field or fields t
    o the Microsoft Access table.
Use the Append method of the TableDefs collection to create the Microsoft Access table.
Use the TransferDatabase method to create the external table in the specified folder.
Use the Delete method of the TableDefs collection to delete the Microsoft Access table definition.

  • Interfacing a USB signal in LabView

I am trying to acquire the signal from a Vernier LabPro USB connection with LabView. Any suggestions?

    StefanM,
Thank you for your question regarding interfacing your Vernier LabPro with LabVIEW. Fortunatly the manufacturer of your instrument provides an instrument driver that is compatible with LabVIEW 6.1 and above. It provides examples and VIs that you can use to interface with your LabPro with LabVIEW. This instrument driver can be found at the following link.

  • CFP-2220 using digital output for status to another cFP-2220

I have two cfp-2220 that I want to connect with each other using the DIO's of 5V that they have.
The problem that I have is that I don't know the impedance to connect the CFP2220-1 Digital Output 1 to a relay for switching the CFP2220-2 Digital Input 1.
I am using a relay for interfacing the signal. This relay needs 34mA 5V to operate. I am not sure if the CFP2220 would have the needed power to turn the relay on and to close the contact that will operate the CFP2220-2 Digital Input 1. In the user manual of the CFP2220 does not mention anything about it.
    Thank you!

    Hi ggarza:
Here is the current specification for the digital outputs on the 2220: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0147137D2442E4A9862572C100758895?OpenDocument. As you can see there, it only supports 3mA, so it would not be possible to use this relay. In addition to this, you should be careful using this outputs, as the manual specifies they are not isolated.

  • How can I capture live video and still image by a DirectX compatible USB webcam using LabView ?

    Dear forum members
I'd like to design a user interface which shows a live video and capture still images for it by a DirectX compatible USB webcam using LabView or NI Vision Toolkit, how can I do this ? and If this is possible How can I reach the webcam DirectX filter properties and set them using LabView ? I would be grateful to anyone Who lead me to the correct solution.
        Sincerely
        Cem DEMiRKIR

    Cem,
With our example programs you can acquire and save an image (IMAQ >> File Input and Output >> Snap and Save to File.vi) from one camera, if you double the VI's to create the image and the image task, you can easily have one program acquire and save for two cameras.
I may need more information on what you mean by calibration.  Do you mean basic camera setup?  That can be done in Measurement and Automation Explorer by setting up the options within the IMAQ settings for each camera.  Or do you mean more complex calibration for special types of images?  The more description of what you mean, the better I will be able to help you get it done.  You mentioned zoom and motion parameters, what kind of motion?  Our vision drivers only control triggering the camera to acquire, then analyzing, processing and displaying the resulting image.
If you have more details on exactly what you want to do, that would be great.  Let me know if you have more questions, thanks!

  • Making another counter VI for usb-6008 using Labview 8.5

I want to create another counter for usb-6008 using Labview 8.5 as it is needed to calculate two speeds simultaneously.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The best way to do this is to use the counter.  The counter counts
signals without having to interrupt the system or use the USB bus.
When you request the number of ticks that the counter has seen, a
request is thrown from the CPU to the USB line to the 6008, which then
asks the counter "How many ticks have you seen?"  That number is
returned over the USB bus, goes to the CPU, and then displays on your
screen.  Since the DIO lines on the 6008 are software timed, there is
no way to guarantee that the data returning to the CPU is
deterministic.  The conceptual difference between software-controlled
DIO (which nondeterministically returns an entire data stream) and a
software-tick-request-controlled counter (which returns a single number
with the number of ticks) prevents us from using the DIO lines on the
6008.  The cheapest way to count more edges is to purchase more 6008s.
Another possibility would be to purchase a PCI counter board such as
the PCI-6602, which has 8 counters. The most counters we offer in the
USB form factor is 2 per device.
