Challenges of a  project

Hi,
This is sarojini, i had faced one interview  in that they asked me " what are the challenges in your project" . iplease any help me with live examples.
Thanks,
Sarojini.

Its a small question with over a 20 pages list. Challenges are based project to project / cliet to client.
Challenges can be individual / team or for the the entire org.
Some eg: Individual
Role : SAP HR Functional Consultant
Project: Working on the RFP (Reference for proposal).
Environment: ECC 6.0
Responsibilities:
Need to understand the scope of SAP HR in RFP.
Develop new ways in which we can map the processes in SAP HR.
Prepare RAID (Risk, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies) document.
Prepare the flowchart as to how the data will flow.
Prepare the estimation.
Decide on how the data will flow into SAP HR from other devices like RFID indicators. How many interfaces will be there with the SAP HR system?
Challenges:
New technology like RFID, Smart cameras etc.
Role : SAP HR Functional Consultant
Project: Prototype Project
Environment: ECC 6.0
Module: Time Management & Performance Development
Responsibilities:
Understand the culture and business practices in Middle East.
Study and explore the functionalities present in each module in order to map the business processes in SAP HR.
Prepare initial configuration document for Time Management & Performance Development module.
Prepare Proof of cases in each module.
Challenges:
Understanding the new culture.
Working with a team located at various places.
Team challenge:
The client wanted to achieve target by 20 days, we were a team of 4, we divided work in such a way that task was accomplished, my role was to cover up the 3rd party attendance too mapping to SAP via BDC, where I had a lot of inter-action with the technical team, where making them understand the HR business was a great challenge.
Organisation challenge:
We decided for positive time management despite knowing the fact for such a case Negative time was suitable, this was due to Managements strict decission on following customary Clock Time evaluation.. etc etc..
These are a few examples. You can ellaborate on your personal experience now, i guess.

  • Very challenging motion graphic project, advice about the work flow

    i have been requested to realize a project inspired to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPjjxe0hF2A, I have studied motion 4 and motion 5,
    but I don't have a long expeirnce as motion graphic designer and therefore I dont have clear how to achieve that,
    first of all, can I work just with motion 5 ? anyone of you uses after effects? what are the atvantage compared to motion?  what would you use to realize this project?

    none.
    motion graphic was accomplished way before such apps, or computers were involved with it.
    first idea, second (approbiate) tool.
    or …
    the one you can manage to handle.
    what does AE helps you to create such a 'simple' animation as mentioned in your OP, when you don't know to use it? this example of Kinetic Typography is built with AE - a) because Photoshop and Illustrator are highly integrated and b) 'cause the maker can handle it with awesome skills! i dare to say, could be done in Motion5 too
    and …
    Smoke, Flame, Inferno … completely diff. league of tools! (and diff. tools)
    When you have to do a 60 layers compositing for Star Wars, Ep. III, I'm pretty sure, Lucasfilm doesn't rely on a 50$ app on a 1.2k$ laptop

  • Project Pro 2013 and syncing with SharePoint Online 2013 (Office 365)

    Good day,
    I am experiencing some challenges with a Project Pro master project file and syncing to SharePoint 2013 (Office 365).
    What works
    Individual projects can be synced to SharePoint without issue. Once synced, the site start page presents the Project Summary gant, clicking the Tasks link takes me to the tasks. Project files are stored in the Site Assets directory in each SharePoint site
    (one site per project file).
    What doesn't work
    When I create a new project (and sync it to a new site), then add two (2) existing project files that reside on SharePoint and then sync to the new master project site I
    don't see any content in the Project Summary gant, nor do I see any tasks in the task list. I can't figure out if this is not supported or if I've done something wrong. There are no error messages or indicators that I've done something wrong,
    short of the master project projects not showing up on the master project site (nothing in the project summary gant and no tasks).
    Some help would be greatly appreciated. Being able to render a master project is crucial to understanding timelines for many projects in a single view.

    Steven,
    This is by design. Inserted Sub projects will NOT show in the Master Project Tasks list. You will only see tasks inserted directly at the Master Project Level.
    Moreover, if you set up a dependency between Master project Task and Subproject task, then the sync will not work. All in all, there are limitations for this process, which is where Project Online/Project Server needs to be considered.

  • Submit button issue in Acrobat 8 Professional/LifeCycle Designer

    I am using Acrobat 8 Professional and LifeCycle Designer 8.0 on a PC with XP Pro. I first made forms using the default email submit button and had an XML data file submitted.
    I'm now making the forms to submit as a pdf file rather than an XML file. I selected a regular button rather than the email submit button provided and made it a submit button to be submitted as a pdf.
    The forms are being sent as pdf files attached to emails using Outlook. The issue is that every computer has a different "reaction" to this submit button. My computer (PC), when I tested the forms,everything was fine - Outlook opened and I was able to submit the file. On another PC in my office, when she clicked the submit button, nothing happened at all. On a PC at home, I got an error message "this operation is not permitted." And someone on a Macintosh did not even get a submit button showing up on the pdf.
    We need to be able to send these files out so that everyone can complete them easily. I would appreciate any ideas on how to make the submit button so that it works on all platforms and computers.
    Thank you so much,
    Marcy

    Thank you to you both for your suggestions.
    Actually, Bill, this will not be a controlled environment at all. We want to be able to email forms to all of the 80 parents in the school, and have the parents complete them as pdf's and submit the information back to us as a complete pdf form. This opens up the potential for 80 different computers/ISPs/environments. And of course, my supervisor wants it seamless and easy with no glitches for all 80!! So as you can see, I have my challenge with this project.

  • How to keep socket alive

    Dear All Java Devotees....
    I was stucked upon the following socket programming challenge in my projects
    first of all I have one Server and one Client
    what I wanted initially was client registered to server
    when the client abruptly terminated, it wont have any effect at all to the server
    But in line with the Java Socket Programming Tutorial
    it seems that it cant be done so easily
    whenever I close down my client
    Server will catch java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
    so my question basically :
    Is it possible for the Server to keeps iterating in a loop
    while listening for a client to register
    but here is the catch, I dun want anything severe happen to the Server
    when somebody close down the Client abruptly
    If possible I would like the server to keep its normal program flow
    I mean sort of roll-back to the state before the exception occured
    My punchline is to "keep the server program flow"
    Any Idea/snippet will be greatly appreciated....
    best regards,
    Honggo

    Hi Joey
    sorry I've misled you
    I've managed to solve the problem though
    but now facing a new problem
    I will be grateful if u come across the same problem
    here is the scenario:
    1. client starts
    2. server stars
    3. client & server bound to socket
    4. client sending some information to server
    5. server stops
    I've followed your suggestion to use for loops and spawn a new thread for each accepted socket
    it's a very simple & helpful idea, but as I observer i hit some shortcomings. I wish you could enlighten me with snippet of code, perhaps :D
    after steps 5 which is when the server stops, client is unaware that server has already dead.
    i've tried every methods described in the API (e.g. isClosed, isConnected, etc) but client didnt catch exception when client is sending some infomation to the "deceased" server.
    So my question: How to detect whether or not the server is dead (in client).
    regards,
    Honggo

  • PDMLink interface with SAP

    Hi,
    We are planning to interface PTC Windchill PDMLink with SAP 6.0. We are considering multiple options of interfaces, where XI is the one. Any one worked on this scenario?
    If any one worked on this scenario, kindly help me to assess the possible challenges of this project.
    <removed_by_moderator>
    We have come accross one middleware named PDM connector. If you have any information on this, please help me to understand this.

    Has anyone tried this adapter in your project ?
    This seems to be a certified atapter for NetWeaver PI, and I'm interested in the feedback on this...

  • SAP Implementation Starting

    Hi all
    I am heading an SAP implementation for my company .
    I want to make sure that the implementing company
    delivers a fine and within time and budget solution.
    What are the points that are usually written in contracts
    to avoid delays / bad solutioning ?Pls give me tips as to
    what all I can have as part of the contract .
    All suggestions / Inputs welcome.
    Thanks

    Dear Oops Kooops,
    You question is broad in spectrum. To start with you can refer to some good Project Management books in SAP.
    These are some of the details you can look for:
    Business Goals
    Know how your project will benefit the business, and make sure you communicate those benefits to the employees who will use the technology. Poorly defined goals doom a technology project; well-defined goals help keep all project personnel working together. The system with unclear business benefits is one better left unsponsored and undone.
    User Involvement
    Getting user buy-in requires more than just communicating benefits. It also helps dramatically to enlist users' collaboration in designing or selecting the system.
    To convince business line managers to lend their workers to the front end of a project, executives recommend talking to their wallets.
    Risk Management
    Every I.T. project faces risk, whether it is technical (caused by unproven technology or integration problems) or business risk. Veterans say project sponsors should not only understand the risks but also demand that contingency plans be put in place before the first nail is hammered. But even though risk management is a project management basic, it is easy for executives with little technical knowledge to ignore it because they are intimidated by the technology. Fortunately, they also say technical risk is easier to manage than business risk. If the project hinges on a relatively new technology, it makes sense to build and test a prototype before going whole hog.
    Scope Management
    Keeping requests for new features from derailing or slowing down a project is a step that should be handled by the project manager, but occasionally the executive sponsor has the clout to say no to a request the IT leaders can't refuse.  Besides inflating costs, scope creep can deflate user enthusiasm as the project's benefits are pushed off. Getting the project done quickly is a good goal for the executive sponsor to champion; bells and whistles can be added later, after the initial rollout. "Vanilla is a very good flavor"
    Appropriate Accountability
    No accountability, no progress--that's no surprise. The challenge in IT projects is to hold the right people accountable for the right deliverables. The IS department's job is to hand over the specified level of system functionality by the due date. After that, it's up to the business workers to get the specified business benefits out of the system. And the executive sponsor should make sure accountability is in place to enforce that division of labor.
        Non-IT execs have a tendency to exaggerate the role IS workers will play after a system is rolled out. As a result, it is common to point the finger for system failure at IS. That gives the other employees less incentive to make the new system work.
        IS and business line workers develop a lot more synergy when both feel an equal burden of responsibility.
    Helpful Hype
    Amidst all the spreadsheets, numbers, risk analyses and so forth, remember to add a spoonful of sugar for those who will actually have to use the technology.
    Do let me know in case of any queries.
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Rakesh

  • Aco  implemenataion for shortest paths.

    has anyone used ant colony optimization algorithm for finding shortest paths other than for the tsp? please i need some help and advice. thanks

    sorry for not being specific and the insubsequent reply. am just doing some research on aco, i want to try and implement it for best bath planning on a map/graph. I've been looking around for some example on such and noticed that this algorithm is mainly used for tsp problem which got me questioning the possibility of my task. I just want to know if it is definitely possible with aco as i will give it a go in this case. Implementing this algorthm successfully is the main challenge of my project so i cannot contemplate another algorithm option. Thanks for your time.

  • FMS 3.5 /  server/app1 - netconnect - server/app2 = NetConnect.Connect.FailedHello

    Hello all,
    I've hit a snag with my current FMS project and Im hoping someone out there might be able to help.
    I have a working FMS server with two applications:
    I'm trying to get application 2 to connect to application1.
    I can connect to app1 if i write up a quick client in as3... i CANT seem to connect from FMS server side code in app2. ( which is what I require )
    What am I doing wrong?  Is there something on the server that I need to configure to allow this?
    Do I need to specify something in one of the app's  Application.xml files?
    Thank you for taking the time to read this post,  code is below:
    other info:
         my development server url looks like this:    fms.internal.companyname.com
         my netConnection.uri is simply "rtmp://fms.internal.companyname.com/app1"
         running Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5
         server is working.  I can use live / vod / and some other custom apps that I've written so far.  Just app to app connections aren't functioning.
        I havn't done any other custom configuration to the server.  Its all stock.
    app1's code:
    application.allowDebug = true;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
         trace("[ Booting up app1 ]");
    application.onConnect = function( clientObj ){
        trace("onConnect detected: ");
         application.acceptConnection(clientObj);
    application.onStatus = function(statusObj){
         trace("onStatus detected:  "+ statusObj);
    app2's code:
    application.allowDebug = true;
    nc = new NetConnection();
    nc.onStatus = function(infoObj){
       trace(infoObj.code);
    application.onAppStart = function(){
         trace("[ Booting up app2 ]");
         nc.connect( "rtmp://server/app1");
    application.onStatus = function(statusObj){
         trace("[ onStatus: "+statusObj+" ]");
    So as you can see I'm having app2 connect up to app1 on startup.
    However, no matter what I do I can't seem to get them to connect!  Please help!
    App 2's log tells me that "NetConnection.Connect.Failed".
    When I check the over all server log I just get a "Connection failed"

    Thanks Chess,
    Ok.. sounds like I'm going about this all wrong...
    I'm building out an Audio/Video Chat application.. ( who doesn't with FMS?    )
    My specific challenge with this project is that I need to pass the client app "secret" data that I can't allow other users to have access to.
    ( By secret I mean I need to push the username and password for another app down to the client. so I'll be using RTMPE or RTMPS by the time this goes live. )
    So how does the following sound?
    My client, ( a flex RIA )  will provide my server "myserver.com/ChatServer"  with a "token":String that can uniquely identify that user.
    So say clientA wants to connect to chat session "42"..   it connects up to "myserver.com/ChatServer/42"  and provides their token.
    1.     When ChatServer/42   onConnect Method fires it will take that token and will put the client into a pending state.
    2.     The server will then hit a webservice on another server with that user's token and the name of the instance.   ( "user_token", "42") and will get back a UserData object... or xml... or whatever FMS uses best for transmitting data i guess... ( would FMS work with ZendAMF?  I'd love to use typed objects for this!)
    3.     Once the ChatServer instance receives the UserData it will pass it back to the client via Client.Call("setClientCredentials", responder, clientData stuff);   // I need to get secret data back to the client that I don't want made available to other users.  ( their passwords etc... )
    4.     ChatServer will also accept the client connection at this point and Add this client to a Roster Shared Object along with some specifics from that ClientData... like name, avatar, etc.
    5.  Once the approved clients begin broadcasting I can then update that Roster_shared_object and use the .sync events to have all connected clients update and start sucking down those streams.
    Does this sound like a better FMS architecture?
    I appreciate everyone's input,
    Thank you for taking the time to read up to this point.

  • Regarding Implementation phases

    What are the phases in SAP Implementation and in which phase data migration takes place?

    hi
    Following are the steps involved in SAP implementation using ASAP methodology
    Phase 1- Project preparation: initial planning and preparation.
    Phase 2 - Business Blueprint: documentation of the business process requirements of the company.
    Phase 3 - Realization: implement all business and process requirements based upon the business blueprint.
    Phase 4 - Final Preparation: complete testing, user training, system management and cut-over activities.
    Phase 5 - Go-Live & Support: transition from implementation to production.
    Care to be taken at mapping the current business scenario into SAP system during Busines Blue Print Phase .Business users should have understanding of SAP system prior to Implementation.

  • IPPE IS-AUTO in SCM APO

    Hi All,
    I have recently joined APO support team who are using IS-AUTO.
    Is IS-AUTO features in built in SCM or some additional installation needs to be done.
    Thanks,
    Amlan C

    Hi Amlan,
    All the best for your challenging ISAuto support project.
    As far as i know, ISAuto is a industry specific SAP Best practice template. The solution covers 23 business scenarios, all preconfigured in an industry-specific way: like Scheduling Agreement with Forecast Delivery Schedule, KANBAN processing, JIT call processing, returnable packaging, 3rd party logistic and external processing. In manufacturing, both continuous production and repetitive manufacturing are covered. The solution is suitable across all Automotive industry sub-segments.
    This template needs to be tested with existing installed SAP though they are fully compatible.

  • Java mail proxy question

    Hi people, I am trying to build a spam filter program which I found the best way to connect this program and the e-mail programs is to build a proxy mail server between the mail server and the e-mail program.
    I know that there is a program called James which does exactly that but since it is for my school project, I would like to build a very simple one myself. I just want to receive all mails from the the mail server using JavaMail. but I am not quite sure about how to do the connection between the spam filter and the e-mail program.
    Can someone gives me some ideas on how to approach this and which package do I need to implement this task please.
    Thx
    Kevin

    The most typical way to do this is to set your email program up with the mail server as localhost.
    Then write your program to listen on the standard POP3 port (110). When you get a request, turn around and open a connection to the real mail server's port 110, and pass it on. Anything you get back from that connection, send back to the inbound connection that you received on localhost:110.
    If you want a pretty slick implementation of this (just to see how it is done in the real world), I recommend that you download and try out K9 (http://keir.net/k9.html).
    Depending on how sophisticated your app is going to be, you will probably have to look at each request and determine if the response is going to be something that you'll need to modify. Do a google search on the POP3 specification. Also, connecting to port 110 of your mai server with a telnet client will tell you gobs about how the protocol works.
    Also - I'm not sure if the POP3 protocol requires message sizes to be produced separately from the get message command - if it does, and you modify the inbound stream, then the size specified in an earlier call will be wrong.
    Good luck - this sounds like a very challenging (and fun) project.
