Change Adam I/O (Channel) mode with LabVIEW(Adam 6060 or 6000 / Modbus)?!!

Hello!
Know somebody how can I change my Adam input or output mode with Labview and modbus command?!!
(for example from counter --> DI or DO --> Pulse)
tanx!
Ali

I have never used the 6000 Series from adam but in the 4000 series, changing mode was not done while the system was running, it required putting the device in init mode (usually through grounding the init pin) then sending the command to change settings like the channel scale, input vs output or the device address.  Also although the 4000 series was 485 multidrop it was and used addresses, it did not use Modbus but a simple string language in as defined by the manual.  This might be different for the 6000 series, but again I have only experience with the 4000 sereis (4017, 4018, 4050 ....)

  • Add a substep (Edit Mode) with LabVIEW

    Hello,
My supplier has delivered a library of steps in TestStand (with a TypePalette and associated Ini Files).
I'd like to custom the INI file with LabVIEW to add a module as "Edit Substeps" on the differents Steps Types.
With "GetTypePaletteFileList" and "PropertyObjectFile", I can see the differents Type Palettes and the associated paths but I can modify it (add a substep module ... etc) ?
Is it possible ? Someone has an idea ?
    Thank you for your help

  • Can i communicate with labview, using ethernet or seriel modbus.

Is it possible to communicate with a i/o module and labview. I can communicate with ethernet, canbus(cscan, devicenet), rs232(modbus).
    What is the easiest solusion.
Is it necessary to buy PC-cards for the communication or have only to download some drivers.
    Thx

    Hello,
To communicate with a CAN/DeviceNET bus you will need an interface card in your PC. NI has such cards along with LabVIEW VIs:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1329〈=US
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1311〈=US
To communicate with Modbus, you will NOT need any special cards but you do need software drivers for it (you'll obviously need an Ethernet card for TCP/IP and Serial port for RS232). There are several options for these drivers, however:
    1. Write your own driver VIs. You'll basically implement the Modbus protocol in LabVIEW. Modbus is a simple and open protocol.
    2. Try to search the Net for such existing VIs. I believe someone has already written such Modbus VIs.
    3. Use the Industrial Automatio
n OPC Servers suite from NI:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=4584〈=US
    4. Use any third-party OPC Server for Modbus.
NOTE: in case you opt 3 or 4 above: though you may use DataSocket in LabVIEW as an OPC Client, you may want to consider LabVIEW-DSC which has a built-in OPC Client, and hence better support for OPC.
Hope this gives you some options.

  • Change IP-number and Subnet-mask with LabView?

To upgrade the software on a CRio-System, the user needs to change some settings in the TCP/IP-configuration.
To simplify this task I think on a possiblity to do (and at the end redo) the changes in the TCP/IP-Configuration of the Windows PC.
    What I need is:
    - Change the IP-Adress (from "Obtain IP adress automatic" to IP xyz...)
    - Change subnet-mask
    - Redo this settings by saving an existing config or set to "Obtain IP adress automatic"
Who knows if and how it's possible to do that in LabVIEW?
Perhaps I have to call a script  /.bat-file?
    LabVIEW 6,7 and 8 available :-)

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

  • Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode with channel bonding?

Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode, with channel bonding?
I had a question a while ago from a customer with regards to bridging with a 1252 ap to increase throughput for a wireless link he was using, from the throughput improvements in 802.11n. At the time I spoke to Cisco Pre-Sales, and they indicated that the bridge function in the 1252 exists for 'testing' purposes. I advised our customer that although it should be possible to implement, we may run into difficulties with TAC support ect. in the event of problems with the link.
Can anyone comment if this is a Cisco validated/approved design now?
Also, has anyone done this and tested the throughput achievable?
Has anyone bridged both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios on a 1252?
The reason I ask is I've seen a note about a Cisco 5Ghz 802.11n bridge being launched.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi All,
Thanks for all the feedback; I have finally done some throughput testing with the 1252's. Please note, this is very rough, just to give an idea on throughput that's achievable, and what you can enable. Did this a few weeks back, and have now wiped the cnf, so dont have the show runs any more....
The two devices were set up a few feet apart, with the standard 2dBi and 3dBi antenna.
All tests done on the 5GHz radio with Autonomous AP IOS.
I did data transfers via a laptop either end of the link; transferring data using the Test TCP utility (wasn't going for scientific tests, just getting some idea of throughput).
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB - root to non root = 2.43 - 2.5MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 2.42 - 2.44MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates( 20Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 6.18 - 6.33MB/Sec = 49.44 - 50.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 4.77 - 5.00MB/Sec = 38.16 - 40 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 8.59 - 8.58MB/Sec = 68.64 - 68.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 6.35 - 7.20MB/Sec = 50.8 - 57.6 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge root to non root = 9.73 - 10MB/Sec = 77.84 - 80 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge non root to root = 8.40 - 8.57MB/Sec = 67.2 - 68.56 Mbps
So basically, as per the above posts, you can implement bridging on the 1252's and utilise the 802.11n rates and features, SGI, Spatial Streams and Channel Bonding etc, to achieve higher throughput.
Also, as per the above posts, this is still not supported by Cisco, so, in my case, I'd be highlighting that to customers straight off, but don't see it as too much of an impediment to deploy, as long as the customer weighs up the risks.
On a side note, I attended a Cisco session recently, and was told that the 802.11n Bridge, (the 1430?) was on hold indefinitely. My feeling is that this makes it more pressing that Cisco introduces support for bridging on the 1252.
Get in the ear of your local Wireless SE's, the more they hear it, the more they'll moan to the Wireless BU in San Jose! ;-)
Bridging with 802.11n has some interesting possibilities, I worked with Alvarion 5GHz bridges 6 or 7 years ago, that could do 'near LOS' - Worked well in cities, using reflection of the RF from buildings. I had never heard of 802.11n back then, but I'm guessing Alvarion was using MIMO to achieve good non-LOS connectivity in the 5GHz band.
    Cheers,
    Alex.

  • Changing mode with HS-950

    Hi there.
I've had a thorough look through the manual, these forums, Google, and have also done a bit of trial and error myself, but as of yet have been entirely unable to locate how to switch mode with these headphones.
I have installed the software and it all works correctly, but I'd like to put the headphones in game mode, and I simply can't work out how to do it. I have seen plenty of images of some sort of 'mode switcher' online, but I'm unable to locate it in either the audio console or the console launcher.
    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
EDIT: Also when I go into a game right now it sounds like it is at a really low bitrate -- what's going on?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
That would explain my confusion. However, as for the low quality sound I'm getting (which I thought was due to entertainment mode), it goes away when I stop the Creative software (specifically VolPanel) from launching on Windows startup. That is, it sounds fine when I don't have the software running, but the moment it starts running, no matter which settings I change I always get really low quality audio, almost like poorly encoded MP3 audio.
Any idea what's up with that?

I am a novice trying to connect Labview into KepwareEX OPC server. I am using MS Windos XP on both sides. at first I could see no OPC server I checked with the Kepware and they suggested me to fix the DCOM configuration on the Server. at last I saw the OPC Server and their client connected to it.

I think there is something wrong with Server OS configuration cause I can not See the Labview OPC Server too, which is installed but I am not using it, Can anybody help me ?

    Hello:
When you try creating a new I/O server and when you select OPC, you should be able to see the list of OPC servers installed in the system. You can select LabVIEW OPC and select a I/O item from the configure OPC client instance.
From what I understand you are able to connect from LabVIEW just fine. Are you able to use server explorer and connect to kepware? The following tutorial will step you through using OPC servers with LabVIEW.

DSC is LabVIEW add-on for developing your HMI/SCADA or high-channel-count data-logging applications. With the DSC Module, you can interactively develop a distributed monitoring and control system with tags ranging from a few dozen to tens of thousands. The following link has a TCP modbus presentation that you will find useful.

  • Where should I start from to use HP4145B with LabView?

I am not familiar with LabView, but I have to set up LabView to make it work with HP4145B.
I downloaded the driver from NI, placed it at the correct directory, and can see VI's in function palette.
Also, when I run MAX, it shows "Instrument 0" under GPIB0.
When I click on "Scan for Instrument", it says something about IDN query, but now I know HP4145B is too old to understand IDN query.
I saw a lot of posts that say they can write to the instrument but cannot read.
However, I don't even know how to test whether my labview can write to 4145B or not.
    My questions are....
    1. 4145B manual says it has "ID"  code.
I tried testing it by using "Interactive Control"
And I got this by NI Spy
    1.  ibsic(GPIB0)

There are four LED's on the front panel of HP4145B.
It shows status of HP4145B whether it is talker or listener.
LED changes properly to my command. (So I don't think there is any problem with harware connection)
But, I still get nothing but EABO error when I want to read something.
    What am I doing wrong?
How can I test "ID" code?
(I do not have ultra-fast typing speed so I think I gave 4145 enough time to respond before I typed new command)
    2. I tried to use driver I downloaded from NI.
Other posts say that people used "HP 4145 Example.vi" for testing.
However when I put "HP 4145 Example.vi" on the block diagram, I cannot run it.
How do I test with "HP 4145 Examble.vi"?
    3. I tried testing other vi's such as "HP 4145 source setup.vi".
I put that vi on the block diagram window, added constant of 17 to GPIB address,
and other constants to other inputs and run it.
A new window popped up, so I ran it again.
However it does not seem to work since I see no change when I go into source set up menu directly from HP4145 front panel.
Again, LED indicator changes to LTN(which means HP4145B is in listener mode) when I run vi.
    What would be the problem?
I'm experiencing a lot of trouble with this HP4145B, and I know too little to solve this by myself.
Somebody please help me with this.
    Thanks in advance.

    My 4145b uses address 17.
I checked switch setting on the backpanel of 4145b and CRT on the front panel says "HPIB(17, COMMA, EOI)". Also, when I change address to 16 and execute vi file, it gives me an error message of "HP 4145 Define Channel; HP 4145 Send Message"
When I change back to 17 and execute, error message disappears(and no more error message comes in when I send command to 4145b), but nothing happens on 4145b.
As I said eariler, LEDs on 4145b seems to be saying that 4145b understands basic command such as "change to listener" or "change to talker".
In addition, when I try to read from 4145b from "HP4145 example.vi", for example by clicking on "Display Graphics and Plot" and execute, I get error message "HP 4145 Take Measurement; Wait for Interrrupt (GPIB)". However, reading is not the problem to think right now because I don't even know how to read.
I have Newport 1830-C with me, and I checked this instrument with same GPIB-USB-HS and same PC I am using with HP4145b.
It works with 1830C. Therefore, it doesn't look like there is something wrong with  my PC and GPIB-USB-HS.
Anyway, thank you for your attention.

  • Lebow-Daytronic Loadcell with Labview

Dear, I have a problem for my thesis. I have to measure a signal with a DAQ-card NI 6024E. First of all I will explain the test : a Lebow (model 3167) load cell (torque meter)  and Daytronic (model 3170 to read torque)  measures the torque of an engine and sends a signal (in the form of voltage 10mV/Nm) to a NI CB-68 LPR connector. Through a 68 avaricious cable SHC68 NI-68-EPM, this signal be transferred to the daq card (dev1/ai0) . ( see attachement for loadcell and daytronic)
If I measure the voltage on the connectorblock is this one /hundredth of the  torque (example: 10Nm corresponds to a voltage of 0.10 V on the connector block.)I have made a simple program in Labview (see attachements).  I read on the computer (in labview ) always the same voltage (this is 0,68V of sometimes -1,25V). The voltage on the connectorblock changes when the torque changes but the voltage i measure with the daq-card don't change. I have done everything but it is enough the same . Can someone help me please I'm going to be really crazy. I have done everything i changed the parameters in MAX made an other program in labview but not solved. I am using Labview 8.0 and MAX 4.3  the parameters are :  NI-daqmx Task ->Analog Input -> Voltage -> dev1/ai0-> as range min 0 max 10V i have also tried mv ) samples 1000  rate 1000  continoues sample also tried finite . can someone help me ? what do I wrong? See program as attachements i only get a line on 0,68V and somethimes -1,25 / I am using now try version of labview (enough 25 days)  Thank you - (Please help me i have no much time )

Please check the following article on the differences between wiring methods en considerations to take:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3344
If I get it right, at this moment, the signal is connected differential, so make sure you select this as the input terminal method. Otherwise, I see no problem with the (original) program itself.
Did you already try reading on another channel? When reading the signal in MAX using the test panels, do you read out the appropriate voltage? If not, try if you're readings are right when attaching a simple power source (small power adapter or regulated power supply...) with a known voltage to the card to see if this works. I suspect the problem to be a driver or wiring problem rather than in your program.
You might also try reinstalling the DAQmx driver with the latest version available for LV 8.0 (8.7.1). You can find it here:

I own some Kurzweils, but not the PC1.  I downloaded and looked through the manual, and I think you may want to give MIDI Receive Mode a try.
Also--in Mainstage--are you using External Instrument channel strips for the Kurz?
