Change an "available" deployment to "required"

I am finding that I am unable to modify an existing deployment.  I wonder if this is a problem with rights or something else.  Looking through other posts it appears that the ability to modify deployments has been removed from SCCM - so I think
it is normal - just want to confirm.
My situation is this.  I have a collection of machines created by direct membership.  I deployed a certain package/program to them as "available"  At the time the deployment was created, the application owner did not want to set
a mandatory time.  Now she does.  In SCCM 2007, I would just add a mandatory time to the existing advertisement.  In 2012 I find that I am unable to add a mandatory time to an existing deployment.  "New..." is gray.
Looking at other deployments that have mandatory times, I am able to add and change the mandatory time easily.  But where the deployment is shown as "available" I cannot change it to required.
I wonder what is the proper equivalent to adding a mandatory time to an existing deployment.
Do I make another deployment and this time choose a mandatory time?  80% of the target has already run the package - so I must not force them to run it again.  If I set it to run only where failed, then will everyone who ran the "available"
deployment be spared from having it run again at the mandatory time in the new deployment?

Todd,
This is by design. You will need to create a new deployment and set to required. Set to 'Never rerun deployed program.'
For packages PackageID:ProgramName are used as the identifier by the client to determine if the package is already installed.
If you set to rerun where failed your existing deployments will not be marked as failures because they have never run package.

  • Does using Group Policy Preferences to deploy printers require the print driver to be pre-installed?

I'm trying to prepare our school system for Windows 7 (we currently use XP).  I would like to use the new Group Policy Preferences method of deploying printers.  I pushed out the XP client side extensions through WSUS.  In my test environment, I added the shared printer in group policy preferences.  My XP machine had the printers show up automatically, but my Windows 7 machine did not.  I realized that I had previously connected a printer of the same type to my XP machine before and the drivers were already installed.  To test this theory, I manually connected the shared printers to the Windows 7 machine, deleted them, then logged off and back on.  Now the printers are showing up from group policy.  My question is does using group policy preferences to deploy printers require the print driver to be pre-installed?  If not, then what am I doing wrong?  If so, is there a way to work around this?  Thanks for your help.
EDIT:  To clarify, I am using the share method in GPP.  This is the error message I get in the event log:
The user 'PRINTERNAME' preference item in the 'win7 printer test {946461A1-27F8-406F-A0B3-0A1A05AF34F6}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070bcb The specified printer driver was not found on the system and needs to be downloaded.' This error was suppressed.

This link have a description of resolution:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725938.aspx
    Open the GPMC.
Open the GPO where the printer connections are deployed, and navigate to Computer Configuration, Policies, Administrative Templates, Control
    Panel, and thenPrinters.
    Note
The Point and Print Restrictions setting can also be found under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers.
This policy is ignored by Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, but is enforced by earlier editions of Windows including Windows XP with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, and Windows Server 2008. We recommend that you change
this policy setting in both locations so that all down-level clients have a consistent experience.
Right-click Point and Print Restrictions, and then click Properties.
    Click Enabled.
    Clear the following check boxes:
Users can only point and print to these servers
Users can only point and print to machines in their forest
In the When installing drivers for a new connection box, select Do not show warning or elevation prompt.
Scroll down, and in the When updating drivers for an existing connection box, select Show warning only.
    Click OK.

  • How do you remove or change red border in Livecycle required

How do you remove or change red border in Livecycle required field?
When I make a field required, it makes the pdf show a thick ugly red border. How can I change that?

Now you see me, now you don’t.
Interactive forms highlight where you should enter data. To turn this highlighting on, click the Highlight Existing Fields button.
The fillable fields within the form (see example below) are highlighted in a light blue color. This lets you enter information into these fields. By default, Adobe® Reader® displays a red border around required fields:
    Pretty dang ugly, huh?
Fortunately, it can be turned off.  This script (placed on a form:ready event) will do the trick:
        if (xfa.host.name == "Acrobat")
    app.runtimeHighlight = false;
    Here’s how we achieve this:
    Part 1:
In the Object palette, click the Value tab. Under Type, choose User Entered – Required.
First, we need to define which fields are mandantory/required. Click within the desired field to select it.
You can assign as many mandatory fields as the form requires. When you are finished doing this, enter the Script Editor.
Note:   To show or hide the Script Editor window as you need it, click the toggle.
Select the form:ready event. Be sure JavaScript is the chosen scripting language to run on the Client.
Type the following script into the window:
        if (xfa.host.name == "Acrobat")
           app.runtimeHighlight = false;
    Save your work.
    Part 2:
From the File menu, choose Form Properties.
    Click the Form Validation tab.
                   Click Color Failed Fields.
Check the box next to Color fields and fail their validations.
To turn borders off, click the arrow next to Border Color, then click the box.
To define a background color, click the arrow next to Background Color, the choose More Colors.
Select the first available empty box, then click Define Custom Colors.
Define a custom color per your visual identity guidelines.
When you are finished, click on Add to Custom Colors, then click OK.
Click OK on the Form Properties window.
    Save your work.
The result? When the user tries to submit a form without first entering data into the required fields, an alert message is displayed.
When the user clicks OK to clear the error message, form submission is cancelled.
Failed fields are highlighted in an attractive way—without red borders.

  • Swap Error: Windows Azure is currently performing an operation on this deployment that requires exclusive access.

When swapping our deployments for a web role, we are receiving an error, "Windows Azure is currently performing an operation on this deployment that requires exclusive access."  We have been waiting patiently for over 48 hours and the error
persists.  We have deployed/swapped many times before without issue.  The dashboards do not show any known Azure issues at this time.  We are stuck with an out-dated deployment.
We have deleted the staging deployment and tried again and it still does not work.  It appears to be an issue with the production deployment.
Other threads state to create a support ticket.  So we have attempted to do so with the following scenario:  We are a BizSpark Plus partner and have MSDN tickets available to use for support.  It bites that we have to use 1 for this Azure
issue.  However,  it appears you can't use MSDN support tickets for Azure as each time you go to create a ticket, it kicks you back to Azure to force the purchase of an Azure support plan...??

If you have the MSDN support plan, please contact their local Global Customer Service center for assistance in creating a Azure support case.

  • Changing the Availability Check key in an existent Sales Order line

    Hello gurus.
Is it possible to modify the Availability Check key (VBAP-MTVFP) of a material in an existent Sales Order line?
I changed it in the material master, but since documents are not automatically updated, I wanted to modify this value in an existing sales order line. I am not even able to find the field in it.
I had to delete the order line and create it again, but then I have troubles getting the exact same confirmed date that I had before.
    Any help? Thank you.

You cant see at item level.  To see in sale order, click from top menu bar, Environment -- Availability.   Now you can see the availability check on top of the screen.
Meanwhile, I dont think, this field will be in editable mode once partial delivery is made in which case, LSMW also wont help you.
If your requirement is desperate to change the availability check, to me the available option is close the existing sale orders, create fresh orders after changing the availability check in material master.  On the other hand, if you want to change only in sale order, then the option is LSMW as you cant even succeeed in TCode MASS
    thanks

  • O2C changes during post-deployment

    Guys,
What are the O2C changes during post-deployment that you have come accross?
Or the possible changes? Can you give some examples?
    Thank you.

    Sussed it!
As part of deployment, we adding to the DevicePath registry value so we can specify our own PnP driver store:
    REM reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion" /v "DevicePath" /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d ^%SystemRoot^%"\inf;\\corp.domain.com\dfsroot\mdt\Out-of-Box Drivers" /f
If I manually type this into a command window it results in this:
However, inspecting a machine post deployment, it has stripped out the %SystemRoot% variable, so it's just 'inf;\\corp.domain.com\dfsroot\mdt\Out-of-Box Drivers'.
I guess standard variables, like %SystemRoot%, aren't available during deployment.

  • SCCM: Application deployment vs Package deployment with requirements and prerequisits.

    Hey,
My organization is in the process of implementing a new remote networking solution for all employees, however some employees require additional software vs others. What I am trying to find out is if there is a way to have one package with supersedes and
requirements that we can use to do a massive deployement.
Here are the different scenarios with order of installation:
    Financial group Desktop:
    1.Install New solution
    2.Install Configuration
    3.Install Token Authentication
    (nothing crazy)
    Financial Group Laptops
    1.Install Token Authentication
    2.Install New Solution
    3.Install COnfiguration
    4.Un-uninstall Old Solution
5.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last). (this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 5, but do 4, when 4 is triggered, it does 3 first, etc...)
    All other laptops
    1.Install New Solution
    2.Install COnfiguration
    3.Un-uninstall Old Solution
4.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last).(this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 4, but do 3, when 3 is triggered, it does 2 first, etc...)
Because of the different requirements, is there a way to have one deployment with multiple deployment types to say based off:
    1. Computer types (we have a naming convention that identifies laptops and desktops.
    2. Only install certain pieces of software (Token validator in this case if financial application is detected on the machine).
Or should I create different applications for each case with different collections or go with 3 different packages and collections with install this package first set in the package deployment
    Thanks for your help.

The problem is the last uninstall, because it's not applicable to all machines. That means that if you would deploy that with all it's dependencies, it wouldn't do anything on the desktops as it's not applicable to them.
In this case, if you want to use one deployment, the easiest solution is a task sequence. That way you can target everything in one time and still build some logic to prevent some (un-)installs.

  • Changing the default deployment server.

    Hi.
Is it possible to change the default deployment server in studio Creator? Im developing some portlets, and on my computer it takes 3 minutes to deploy a new portlet to my local host, but only a few second to deploy it to a remote server.

    Hi,
I guess, right now only way is to deploy to remote server( sun appserver and sun webserver) or export the WAR and deploy to any other web/app server

  • Entry was not processed because there is no changing parameter available

    Hi,
I'm new to SCM area. Started a development to update the SNP Planner Codes to the Product Master with some code. For this purpose, I'm using the standard bapi - BAPI_PRDSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI2. To use this, according to the documentation of the BAPI, I've passed the Internal Product number (PRODUCT_INT), also, I'm passing Internal Location (LOCATION_INT).
    The tables that I'm updating are: PRODUCT_HEAD, PRODUCT_TEXT, PRODUCT_LOCATION.
With the kind of error I saw, I thought of assigning the Model also to the Product. So I've also populated the table : PRODUCT_MODEL with model = '000'.
When I run this BAPI, I get the below mentioned error.
E     APO_BAPI     051    Entry was not processed because there is no changing parameter available
There could be another post belonging to the same, but I could not find it so posting this thread.
    Regards,
    -Syed.

    Hi,
For each of these tables that you are trying to update PRODUCT_HEAD, PRODUCT_TEXT, PRODUCT_LOCATION, there will be corresponding X tables like PRODUCTHEAD_X, PRODUCT_TEXT_X, PRODUCT_LOCATION_X.
You will need to populate the particular fields in these X tables with value X so that the particular fields in tables PRODUCTHEAD, PRODUCT_TEXT, PRODUCT_LOCATION are processed.
    thanks

  • Deploying updates - required question

When I am looking to deploy updates in SCCM.  If for an update the required column is "0"...does that mean that update is not needed on any of the computers on my network?
If yes does that mean I should not deploy that update to my environment?

That indeed means that it's not required by any of the systems that performed a recent scan. If your not planning on creating situations where the update would be required then you don't have to deploy the update.
Keep in mind that a client will only download and install updates that are deployed and required on that client.

  • Changing preferences after deployment

Does anybody have experience with changing preferences after deployment using InstallShield Tuner? I am trying to change the Comments Repository on a large number of deployments that were deployed using an MST created with InstallShield Tuner.
In Office I'd use the Maintenance Wizard, but InstallShield Tuner does not appear to have that functionality.

I know the registry key resolution, but I think that is such an ungraceful thing.
It would be nice if Adobe would come out with some management products even if this does involve creating an msp file. It would fit nicely into the 'suite' thing.
    Oh well.....

  • Change request: Make Software Center separate Available Software vs required software

    Hi!
Our Campus is currently working with SCCM 2012. We have been getting client feedback on it that I felt should be shared with the community.
Clients are getting confused when required software updates and available updates are nested together in Software Center. Where they assume all of it is required.
Is there a way to make by default available software not nest with the required software in Software Center for our clients?
I know we have the Application Catalog, but it feels limited in controlling on which machines software is released too and only focuses on Who.

This is really close to what I am looking for. Where if I'm understanding it correctly this will hide the required deployments.
I'll talk it over with my co-workers to see if it would be a decent mitigation.
Ideally I'm looking for to see both the required and available software but in different tabs/views (so it is really apparent what is required and what's there for them to use optionally).
I really appreciate all the help!
