Change attributes and/or permissions of folder

I have searched for this and the answers are not working. I have an app where I copy a folder on a CD onto the C drive. When the app is completed I want to delete the folder. I can't seem to do that with my code. I can manually go to the folder in explorer and de-select read only and it deletes fine. I've tried SetPermissions, Attrib in System Exec, none seem to work. 2011 on an XP system.
One observation of note: when I get permissions it reads 511. When I manually un-select read-only it still reads 511 but I can delete the folder in the code. I simply cannot de-select read-only in programatticaly and I need to. Thanks.

I had one letter of a command misplaced going to my System Exec. Looks like it's working now.

  • Can I change Read and Write Permissions?

I'm trying to get as much of my old Windows stuff onto my iMac.
It's all stored on a Seagate 300GB External HD that is partitioned 150GB Mac and 150GB Windows NTFS. I can see and copy Folders and Files from the Windows Partition, but cannot delete once copied, this is very inconvenient as it means I have to keep unplugging the hard drive from the iMac and plugging it into my MacBook Pro (with Windoze installed) to remove the Files/Folders I have copied onto the iMac. Does anyone know how I can change the read write permissions on the Windows Partition so that I can copy then delete off it without constantly swapping computers. Thanks

Unfortunately, this isn't a permission problem. The thing is, OS X can read NTFS partitions, but not write to them. The only filesystem that both OS X and Windows can both read and write (without third party drivers/apps anyway) is FAT32.

  • Permissions changing over and over

My Mac started to give me a lot of spinning wheels.
I runned the Disk Utility, found and repaid a lot of damaged permissions.
Everything went Ok for an our or so, and then it happened again. The permissions were damaged again. And it is repeating since then.
Here's a copy of Disk Utility report. Damaged permissions are always the same.
    Thanks for any advice.

    What is a symliked item?
    Example:
    Permissions differ on "System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Classes/jce.jar", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r-- .
The l in front of rw-r--r-- indicates a symlink, a link to a file in Unix. It's like an alias, but unlike an alias, if the item that is linked changes location (usually by some update), the link gets broken and the Permissions keep getting "repaired" endlessly, since, as I understand it, the item can't be "found" by Permissions repair. But this is not an error, it just means the Permissions Database hasn't been updated by Apple; nothing needs repairing. They won't be repaired because nothing is wrong with them. We all get these same messages.
Here are mine from before the latest Java update.
The spinning beach ball has nothing to do with these Permissions messages being repeated. As long as you get "Permissions Repair Complete," that's really all you need to know.

  • Use of Process type Attribute Change Run and Rollup in Process Chaning

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I have a doubt about the use of process types Attribute Change Run and Roll up in PC
If any1 can clear my doubts it would be helpful
if possible if any1 can tell me about the list of process types available in Process Chains it would be helpful
    Thanks in advance

Change run process is used to re-activate the Attributes after changes
Roll up process is used to refresh a target (example : aggregates) after new data are uploaded into a Cube

  • Which AD Attributes are use to store Send-As, Full-Access permissions and Calendar permissions?

    Hello All,
Please, could someone tell me Which AD Attributes are use to store Send-As, Full-Access permissions and Calendar permissions?
    Regards
    José Osorio

    Hi Jose,
Based on my test, the value of attribute msExchDelegateListLink points to Full Access permission while the
publicDelegates indicates Send on behalf permission.
As for Send as permission, it is the permission in the Access Control List which is a list of permissions attached to an object. Just like:

    Hi
-I have organized all my songs in iTunes ,deleted unwanted songs and updated the album artwork but it has not changed them in my iTunes media folder location in my C Drive.
How do I update it there so it is the same as my iTunes now so i can back it all up?
    Thankyou.

I solved my problem. Here's how:
    1. Right click iTunes and click properties from the "Windows 8 Desktop" (or if you want to call it the 7 desktop thats fine too)
    2. Select the compatibility tab.
    3. Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 and click apply.
    4. Open iTunes, sign into iTunes store, Turn on iTunes Match, Add your computer.
    5. Close Program
    6. Restart Computer

  • Remove permissions for a security group for all files and folders in a folder and all subfolders?

I found a script that adds rights to files and folders.
We need to grant administrators rights to a set of folders for a specific project.
    ChangePermissions.ps1
    # CACLS rights are usually
    # F = FullControl
    # C = Change
    # R = Readonly
    # W = Write
    $StartingDir=
    "C:\Users"
    $Principal="Administrators"
    $Permission="F"
$Verify=Read-Host `n "You are about to change permissions
    on all" `
    "files starting at"$StartingDir.ToUpper() `n "for security"`
    "principal"$Principal.ToUpper() `
    "with new right of"$Permission.ToUpper()"."`n `
"Do you want to continue? [Y,N]"
    if ($Verify -eq "Y") {
    foreach ($file in $(Get-ChildItem $StartingDir -recurse)) {
    #display filename and old permissions
    write-Host -foregroundcolor Yellow $file.FullName
#uncomment if you want to see old permissions
    #CACLS $file.FullName
    #ADD new permission with CACLS
    CACLS $file.FullName /E /P "${Principal}:${Permission}" >$NULL
    #display new permissions
    Write-Host -foregroundcolor Green "New Permissions"
    CACLS $file.FullName
When the project is over, we need to undo the changes and remove administrators permissions from the same group of folders.
How do we change the script to remove administrators group members instead of adding?

I'm not sure I understand how to use that example script to undo the changes in the script I posted..
Is there  a way to just change a few lines in the first script so that it removes instead of adding the administrators group?
This line appears to be the line that adds permissions:
    #ADD new permission with CACLS
    CACLS $file.FullName /E /P "${Principal}:${Permission}" >$NULL
What would be the syntax to remove the  permissions
    $Principal="Administrators"
    $Permission="F"
from files and folders in $StartingDir= "C:\Users"
    and everything below it?

  • Attribute change Run and Infocube Problem

    Hi SAP BW Experts ,
I am getting the following problem
2 days back our production system was down when Attribute change run is running in a process chain . After the system is up I triggered the Attribute change run manually for that specific master data Object. But the jobs was cancled automatically. When I checked the Job log I found the following messages
<b>“InfoCube XXX is locked by a terminated change Run”</b>
      System error: <b>RSDU_TABLE_COPY_INI/DDIF_TABL_ACTIVATE /BIC/E200073 /BIC/E100073 0</b>
    Message no. DBMAN100
When I verified manage screen in the Infocube XXX , one request is not rolled up . when I tried to rollup that particular request manually again I am getting the same message <b>“InfoCube XXX is locked by a terminated change Run”</b>
When I tried to create Indexes on that Infocunbe XXX , Again I am getting the same message <b>“InfoCube XXX is locked by a terminated change Run”</b>
When I tried to load data in to that Infocube I am getting the same message <b>“InfoCube XXX is locked by a terminated change Run”</b>
    The Steps Taken By Me:
      1. In SM12 , there are no lock entries for the Infocube XXX
      2. According to A.H.P reply I verified the Support package . We are having Import Support package 18 for 3.10( BW 3.10 patch 18 or SAPKW31018 )
so I think there is no problem from patch side.
So please let me know by doing which task , I can eliminate the error message “InfoCube XXX is locked by a terminated change Run”

I got this reference from one of other site. Hope this solves issues of most of our ques on this topic.
We faced this problem and reported to OSS. They solved our problem. Here is
    the answer from OSS
I connected to your BWQ system. I checked the table RSDDAGGRMODSTATEand
found an entrie for a change run "not yet" finished.
    CNSID CLOSEDFL TIMESTMP_START TIMESTMP_END TSTPNM
    207,851,300 20,030,910,141,500 0 SIDTLHG
As you can see, the field CLOSEDFL is blank (should be 'X' for an ended
change run) and the field TIMESTMP_END is also zero.
You can also check with the function module RSDDS_CHANGERUN_MONITOR as
in note 388069 that both objects you reported are the ones involved
with thi change run error (Infocube ZINV and Infoobject ZELEM_PEP):
    E_CR_STATE C
    E_T_CHANM 1 Entry (IOBJNM = ZELEM_PEP)
    E_T_HIEID 0 Entries
    E_T_AGGRSTATE 1 Entry (AGGRID = 3QR79ZYB6VGSDS3C42HPXMA8S
    ICUBE = ZINV)
    E_T_MSG 1 Entry (IOBJNM = ZELEM_PEP)
You have two choices to solve this problem. You cn either:
1.- Restart the change run and let it finish with ok.
The change run usually fails due to database errors, tablespace
problems, and when some user manually cancel it (NEVER should be
    done!!)
2.- Change manually the entry from table RSDDAGGRMODSTATE that isdescribed
above. Set the field CLOSEDFL with a 'X' and also fill the field
TIMESTMP_END with a value with the following format
    yy,yym,mdd,hhm,mss. Use, for example, '20,030,910,181,500'
    IMPORTANT!!!
After this change on table RSDDAGGRMODSTATE, you have todeactivate
all aggregates, activate again and refill them!!
Hope this solves your error. If the issue is solved, please close this
    message with the [confirm] button.
    Best regards,
    David =C1lvarez
    SAP Active Global Support
The answer refers to our problem. We chosed option 2. Here is the AbAPcode:
    REPORT ZLOCKED .
    tables: RSDDAGGRMODSTATE.
    select * from RSDDAGGRMODSTATE where CLOSEDFL = ' '.
    RSDDAGGRMODSTATE-CLOSEDFL = 'X'.
    RSDDAGGRMODSTATE-TIMESTMP_END = 20020912195015.
    MODIFY RSDDAGGRMODSTATE.
    ENDSELECT.

  • Aggregates with Attribute Change Run and Master data

    Hi !
I created Aggregate which includes Master Data such as Customer , Customer Number , Material , Material Number.....
It also contains navigational attribute and hierarchy...
Now we all know that if Master data and Hierarchy changes frequently(or some new values are added or new attributes are added etc.) we want to see the respective change in Aggregates too
So just Rolling up aggregate will not help.
We need to apply Attribute Change run for this purpose, to aggregates..
Now the question is HOW TO  APPLY ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN to aggregates?
How to automate this process with Process chains..?
If i create Aggregate on Master Data CUSTOMER NO., DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE THAT AGGREGATE IN ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN FOR THAT CUSTOMER NO. PROCESS CHAINS ?   Yes or No..........
(What i mean to say is if there is Attribute Change Run for Customer No. and if this is in Process chains specially created for Customer Number , than as aggregates are created on  Customer No., does i t automatically applies and make changes to Aggregate too, or do we hvae to create special process chian for it ?)
Please reply asap ? its urgent

  • Shell script, automator and file permissions

We have an environment where, that when a user creates a folder on a network vol, it is owned by them and no one else has access to it. They then place a folder structure from there local HD into that folder they just created on the server. You would think a simple get info window with the user changing the permissions to include all would actually change all the file permissions in the enclosed folder, but it doesn't. I have a simple script written in automator using /bin/bash that is supposed to change the permissions in every folder and file to rw for all (user, group and everyone). It doesn't seem to be working correctly all the time for a few users.
    for f in "$@"
    do
    chmod -R 777 "$f"
    done
I have tried this as well
    for f in "$@"
    do
    chmod -R a+rw "$f"
    done
But that should be pretty much the same thing.
Something i have noticed is the users with the most problem are running 10.4.11, while the script was written in 10.5. Also the users that are having the problem dont seem to have the same get info window as the rest of the 10.4.11 users, it very closely resembles 10.5, with some minor differences. It seems they are missing the groups or something. This might be more or less than an issue than I realize.
    http://picasaweb.google.com/tiemmothi/UserPermissions?feat=directlink
the 10.4 window in question is "the offender" and
    "Mine" is 10.5

*Access Control List* entries are in addition to the regular POSIX permissions. They are not required, but add finer levels of access control. Setting the regular permissions to read/write for everyone should work unless there are ACL entries which allow additional access - you can see ACL entries and extended attributes with/bin/ls -le@d /path/to/some/folder
An inherited ACL entry to allow everyone read/write access would look something likechmod -R +a "everyone allow list,addfile,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,chown,file_inherit,directoryinherit" /path/to/some/folderA users */Public/Drop Box* folder has similar entries.

    Hi
Yes this can be many things - and I can only guess/suggest.
    A. a very common origin to make the Mac un-happy is to - PANIC-HALT - when the round multicolored thing appear.
So much can go wrong by doing this - and if done often problem builds up that can result in a real disaster.
    B. NEVER - move or alter any folder named - iMovie Event's resp. iMovie Project's - as iMovie has no search function - moving them results in that iMovie get's 100% lost.
One can move them - but this HAS TO BE done within the iMovie application (as it is up and running)
    C. preference files - there are TWO or more Libraries on Your Mac. First and easy to find is the one You see when opening Your Start-Up Hard Disk window = Root Library == the WRONG ONE
What we need to find is the one in Your User-Account folder (icon as a house) - and this is in Mac OS X.7, X.8 and X.9 HIDDEN. To see it do:
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )
    or - do like this.
On the Finder window at the top left of the screen,
Hold down the Option key and clicked on Go.
This allowed You to see the Library folder and select it.
Then keep the Option button pressed down in order to see and select the Library folder.
Once found it, You are able to navigate to the iMovie preferences file and move it to the trash.  iMovie then start’s up fine!
Now here in Your User Library - find Preferences and trash
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    com.apple.iMovie9.plist
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
I Prefere another way to find out if this is the problem.
(after all folders (iMovie Event/Projects are moved into original place)
    • go up to Apple Menu
    • Down to System Pref's
    • Select Accounts - Create a new User
    • Go down the Apple menu - Log OUT
    • Log into as the new User
    Now try iMovie
Does it work at all ? (Yes You don't see Events or Projects in Your original Account just now)
If so - Then we know that there is a corrupted pref file to be trashed.
Else - the problem are much more severe.
    D. After Panic Halt / Forced Quit - I always do -. to keep disasters on arms length.
    • Repair Permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    • Start from other HD or DVD - then run Repair Hard Disk (Apple Disk Util tool)
